My experience in the fleet has always been choppy, even before the transfers. After the transfers, it was a lot worse. I just bought a new graphics card, a GTX 670, installed it yesterday. I was very upset to see that the choppiness doesn't seem to be any better on the fleet. My internet connection is good, my ping was 15ms.
Is there ANYONE that doesn't experience choppiness on the fleet? If so, tell me what you are running. I'm beginning to think that my computer has issues.
I'm running a core i5 (1st generation), 8 GB memory and the GTX 670. I even have the game on an SSD drive. If that isn't enough, then there is something wrong with my computer, or there is nothing that can be done about it, or I'm missing something.

have you tried to turn shadows off.. i find they really lag down my computer when there are alot of graphics to render..and I am more than happy to play without them

giving away free 50 characters to me is a sign that the game is dying.. didnt WOW do this in order to get players to return to their game? give them a free level 50?? seems like a stupid idea in a game where story is supposed to be very important.
Sure i get bored playing the same side quests over and over, but there are pleanty of ways to level that i can ignore some of the worst quests (voss side quests are a prime example)
i just dont see the need for free 50s

It's a foundation for micro-transactions. A few months from now when they offer to unlock something for $1.00 instead of 3,000,000 credits, they are hoping you will feel thankful instead of insulted.
not all micro transactions would be a bad thing..however i disagree that this is a staging point for that.

Well once you reach lvl 50, doing dailies on 3 planets Belsavis, Ilum, and Corellia (Black Hole). I make way over 200k a day.
ibarely do more than ilums a day and im not hurting for cash at all

Yes I stayed, and guess what, I just bought more time. Further confused? I like TOR (to a degree), but find the game has room for improvement. Confused even more now?
Mini games would help break up monotony of quest, wash-rinse-repeat. Its glaringly obvious the game needs some new game mode additional content.
yes minigames would help the game and could be fun..however.. you honestly being upset over an april fools joke is completely foolish..
it just shows that you can not take a joke.. though i personally would love to see some minigames, i would and did not get offended when they set forth with their april fools joke

I think I understand the concept, but when you are asking people to give you money every month, teasing them with fake content they actually want seems a little harsh.
its not harsh..it was a joke.. would it have been cool.. ya.. i doubt if anyone left solely because of an april fools joke.. and if they did..they need to grow up.. every game i have played has had some sort of april fools joke atleast once or twice in their time..
seriously it was aj oke.. and not harsh in the slightest.

someone explain to me why Legacy perks are so many credits. Now for the stuff for unlocking do you have to have Legacy level AND credits or "either/or"?

its a credit sink.. people have lots of credits, credits are easy to get... so they need a way to lower the number of credits in the game.. this is a way to do that.

April 1st, "fools day". Bioware puts up a video claiming they have a new mini game coming, named the "Ship Droid Experience". Meant to be a facetious prank, in hindsight it was humorous, but many people thought it was a real feature. I thought it was a bit of a destructive goof, and may have caused the loss of a few subs.
This game would benefit from a few mini games. A few small distractions, some social aspects and time consumers would be a huge addition to the game. Waiting for a group to pop with LFG? Play a quick mini game. Want to play SWTOR with friends but not in the mood for the grind? Play a game of Pazzak. Want to get competitive, but in a fun casual way? Join the Swoop/Pod racing circuit and vie for position on the leaderboard.
I guess you do not understand the nature of april fools day???

its not easier to ignore them, its better, getting banned is positive reinforcement for their desire to annoy people so of course most will do it more after they get banned.
easier in the just simple fact that its instant.. banning takesk time.. regardless of situation..they have to investigate every complaint and that takes time... ignore is instant and you are right does not promote their need for negative attentions.

Dunno, banning them from the general chat channel for a week or more can work well.
banning people for a week does not work.. why.. i know from first hand. i used to moderate a mudd a long long time ago.. and if we baned a person for a week. at the end of the week rarely ( maybe 5%) would the player come back humbled and feel actually bad for what they did..normally they return and are far worse. complete jerks and require me to perma ban them..
people take bans seriously and they get hurt... and then they decide they will troll the game constantly until they get perma banned..
its just easier to ignore them

A way to transfer ignore list between characters ? A shared ignore list ? Somone moderating the general chat and banning people from the chat to remember people they are online to play, not to be racist, homophobic, stupid and more ?
Why I want them to do it and not me ? because they can do it better than me, with more consequences, because I'm online to play, not to police other people actions, because if they want to offer a high quality service, it's better to handle it themselves than not doing anything.
And btw, try Eve Online and watch the free newbie chat being moderated.
the report function handles all of that.. you report them they investigate and then they deal with it.
you do realize that using the ignore and report isnt policing anyone.. sigh.. nm you are from the new generation of gamers who really feels no need to take any responsibility for actions and feel that even a simple ignore funtion is to much for you to need to do.
a global ignore would be great however.. ignore based on legacy i suppose would be ideal..
however if expect this game to be heavily moderated..t hen return to eve becuase this game wont be like that..
bioware is to lazy to communicate with players who arent breaking tos.. you think they have time or the will to log into the game to enforce rules?

That is like the city firing all the police officers and telling people if they don't feel safe walking down the street to stay home or buy a gun. I can ignore people, and i do, but the level of racism and bullying is bad. It is bad because there is nobody there watching or doing anything about it. It is ignored by the devs because they feel that giving players the ability to put other players on ignore is enough, and it is not.
no..its nothing like that... it is merely people not taking responsibility and doing what we CAN in order to limit the exposure to the bad language..
frankly every mmo has these issues, and i have never ever seen a single GM log in and yell at someone in game to stop swearing or what not.. they always act based on someones reports..
if you have played on others where it was different then maybe on hello kitty island adventure they are a bit more moderator heavy..
frankly they gave you the ignore command as well as the swear filter command...and the report command..
what more do you need?

BW have alot of data with WAR but guess they dont know how to implement it , w/o making everyone rage on low fps anyway i hope we get some expansion with it just like WAR do but on TOR skin .
didnt war fail.. .why would they want to use anything from that system if all i have ever heard about it was how much suck it was?

am I the only player that was gifted with the ignore function from the devs?
if someone is saying something you do not like.. ignore and report them.. if it is against the tos of course
if you just dont like it ignore them..or ask them to stop.
but ignore works best. thats why we have it

I don't think Bioware understands what it's doing to itself.
Including this game, I had purchased every game Bioware had ever released, going all the way back to MDK. They were far and away my favorite game developer. I often bought their games sight unseen, and enjoyed every one.
Now, with the way they have mishandled things in SWTOR since day 1, culminating with this ridiculous treatment of a small but still important group of their paying customers (and with the fiasco that was ME3's ending), I will never buy another game from Bioware as long as they remain a company.
I doubt they give a $#!t one way or another, but they have seen their last penny from me. And I doubt I'm the only one...
And all they had to do to prevent this was communicate, effectively.

OP: I feel your plight. This is why my wife and I are staying on our old servers and not transferring. We want to keep the names that we spent money to have a chance of getting by preordering and logging ASAP on the servers when they went up back in December. I'd rather have a dead server than deal with an overcrowded queue fighting over dailies or quest mobs with the same names I've used in MMOs dating back to UO and EQ.
whats your plan when they merge or close your server? cause you gotta see thats the logical outcome of all of this..
did you bother to try and see if yoru names were taken on the other server? or are you just assuming they are?

they dont need to ban them. .people need to just not use them.. this is one of those cases where we as the players can maek an active choice to improve something in the game without running to momma bioware and begging for the change.
sure not everyone will do it.. but we dont need to demand a change like this.. all we need to do is not do it ourselves and problem solved.

I was able to get 7 out of 8 of my old names on my new server, AND my legacy, but still all I do is log in, say hi to a few people and log back out lol.
if thats the case then either you are burnt out of the game.. which is likely not the case or you are having trouble getting back into it.. try playing your fav character a bit it might help. thats what i did for a while.. or recreate a new one.. one youve been meaning to do but havent yet

I know the transfers have completely ruined the community on JC. It used to be a helpful place with some interesting discussion in general... now it's all your mom and anal jokes.
And getting a group isn't any easier then it was before the transfers.
to get groups you need to ask:P and as for rude behaviour report them, theres little more you can do than report and ignore.
the increase of players will always bring an increase in jerks who are rude and what not.. ignore is agreat function.

We run as groups of 2 and 3 guildies and after today's dailies , we didn't make as much as we normally do.... the weekly would've only been the difference and thats about 20k, but still was quite a big drop from what we've gotten before!
admittedly i run the dailies with two or three friends as well but i dont even worry about the credits that i get. i do them for the social aspect of hanging with my friends.. I highly doubt they nerfed anything though. robably just drops and credit splits.

I wonder how they plan to ever have "super servers" if an enclosed instance like the fleet is causing massive performance problems when 300+ are on.
i still havent seen a flat out post that someone from bioware said super servers were coming, I was under the impression that was a rumor made by the community because we read into everything..if thats not the case then i appologize. if its the community over reaching and over reading into things, we need to watch that or bad things can happen:P

I have a feeling your old server is not going to be around much longer, they will merge them at some point, I don't see them keeping a bunch of really dead servers around it does cost money for up keep, your old server will most likley find new life in one of the clusters, but will be be gone from the list at some point.
they will likely eventually merge them..but they might wait until the next buget time. .since that money is already allocated for the server maint. so they will likely kepe them till that buget has to be re spent then they will shut them down.

i am betting you were from a server that had a stable population since launch werent you???
becuase if you werent, then you really do not understand the point of an mmo is to play with people..
even the kill stealing jerks, mmos always deal with kill stealing and what not.. if you cant deal with it find a new genere of game
