  1. Hey everyone. I'm currently a level 50 Jedi Guardian, and I've just started to do the dailies, and am working my way up to hopefully doing hard mode flashpoints, and eventually operations and such. However, I've never gotten this far in an MMO before, and I really have no idea how to optimize my gear before I start doing flashpoints. Currently, I'm wearing Veracity Carbon Fiber body armor and greaves, Redoubt Carbon Fiber headgear and belt, and Beskergam boots, gloves and bracers, all with augment slots. Currently I am working on making Veracity carbon fibre headgear and belts, as well as redoubt beskergam gear. Is making purple crafted gear the best option pre-flashpoint for a tank to get gear? I've been running the daily heroics, so I have no trouble getting purple enhancement/armoring. Would getting an orange set of armor and tricking that out with purple mods be a better option? I've also heard that the memory fiber body armor and greaves have preferable stats for a Guardian tank than the carbon fiber variety. Is this true? The memory fiber has less armor, slightly less str and end, but has defense rating and shield rating rather than accuracy and absorption. Not to mention it looks less silly! And I've also heard that PVP'ing gives access to better gear more easily. I haven't touched PVP so far. Would doing it be an easy way to get better gear than what I'm currently wearing. Basically, where do I get the best pre-flashpoint gear for a Jedi Guardian?
  2. My main is a Jedi Guardian, and I have a lot of problems with both the PVE and PVP Jedi Knight armor designs. The PVE armor looks silly with the shoulderpad spikey things sticking out, and the weird way the robe part hangs, like you're wearing a sack. I can't remember the PVP armor except for the helmet. It does not look very Star Wars like at all. You would never see a Jedi Knight wearing anything close to that, ever. It's too giant and unwieldy. One big complaint I have, however, is the fact that Jedi Guardians wear heavy armor, and Sentinels wear medium, yet the end gear looks the same for both of them! The Guardians armoring should be noticeably bigger and heavier than the Sentinels! That's one problem I noticed for the Guardian when leveling, you look like a Sentinel in medium armor for far too long, before you finally get to the heavier looking armor. The way I though the armor should progress is that when you hit Guardian, you start wearing small bits of plated armor under your robes, not a lot, just a little bit. The armor slowly gets bigger and bigger as you level, and once you hit 50, you look like you're kind of wearing something a trooper could use, except lighter, and under a robe. As it stands now, you look like you`re wearing medium armor up until the last 20 levels, and then you get stuff the sort of looks right, except that it is overdone, with extreme shoulder pads and stuff. Some of the mid-40`s stuff, such as the Jedi Battlelord armor, looks exactly what I expected endgame Guardian gear to look like. I expected something like the armor worn during the character creation screen for the endgame gear. Basically, my thoughts on endgame Guardian armor is differentiate it from Sentinel armor, they are wearing an entirely different class of armor, it should look noticeably heavier. Make the very highest level Guardian gear look like something a trooper might wear, except with a Jedi robe covering it. To make the endgame gear seem higher level and more ornate, do not do a radically different type of design, as you`ve done here. Rather, make the embroidery on the robe more ornate, different designs on the actual plate armor part, and so on. Some other, more minor gripes I have with the armor is that the belt should not go around the robe, it should just be worn around the body, the robe d****** over the armor you are wearing. More robes should be able to be worn with the hood down, or you should add a hood toggle feature. Having your character be bald under the hood does not look good, even though I know it helps with clipping issues, a hairline really needs to be added, or hoods should be able to be turned off. Lastly, too many of the heavy Jedi Guardian armor is just a texture over the skin, rather then an addition to the model. Make the armor actually 3 dimensional, particularly on the legs. Make it feel like heavy armor for the Guardians, we`re the armored knights wading into battle, we have to feel more protected than our monk-robed comrades. Basically, the perfect high level armor for me is exactly what this offical art from the game looks like. It is the perfect expression of the Jedi Guardian: http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100220063414/starwars/images/7/73/JediKnight-TOR.jpg Of course, I realize that you need alternate styles so it doesn`t get boring. But rather then add huge shoulders and the like, why not try something like the look that Obi-Wan has in the clone wars series, both the cgi and and 2d cartoon: http://www.unificationfrance.com/local/cache-vignettes/L560xH601/Star_Wars_The_Clone_Wars_website_1-f47ba.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fOYv-a_DZ-A/TbiJbL7bVHI/AAAAAAAASNk/dOrVclFscjg/s400/SW_Statue_ObiWanCloneArmor.jpg The armor looks heavy, but not over the top ridiculous, and the jedi robes are still a big part of the costume. TL;DR: Make it like a trooper with a robe!
  3. There have been two dev posts about the issue. Three if you count it being posted in the known issues thread. Of course we don't want an hour by hour. What we want is something similar to the first dev post that was posted here, giving us a ballpark ETA. People have stopped playing their chars because of this bug, it's not too much to ask of us paying customers to know if our characters will be fixed soon, or if it's low enough on their priority list that it would just be faster to reroll. They gave us an ETA in the first post, it turned out to be false. We're not happy about that, but we get it, it didn't happen as expected. What we don't understand is why there hasn't been a similar post when it was clear that the first ETA had passed us by.
  4. The difference between me demanding to change the plot of the movie and wanting them to fix a broken point of the game should be pretty evident. It's more like if you went to see a movie and anytime there was a romance scene, the screen turned black. I think you'd be justified in wanting it to be fixed. And in regards to shelving our characters, I believe everyone is justified in doing so, if the narrative part of the game is that important to them. Sure, the only thing that may change in the main quest is a few lines of dialog. But I don't want to have Kira's romance after I beat the game, in a series of 20 conversations, referring to things that have long since ended. I want there to be narrative flow, I want to see the full story unfold in a natural fashion. This is a big advertised part of the game. If this was mass effect or dragon age, you could be sure I'd reload an old save to avoid the bug and get the full narrative, even if it did take awhile. But rerolling takes a lot longer if you're at the point where the bug has affected you. We're waiting and hoping that the bug will be fixed so we can get on with our characters. But we're not being told anything. We mostly all agree that we should have been expecting some bugs. Even big ones like this, which completely cut out an important subplot, can be understood, even if we're peeved that we have them. What most of us want is some communication with Bioware on the issue. Either an ETA or an explanation of what they're doing, anything to reassure us in waiting for a fix, or biting the bullet and rerolling. I agree that things like the BH bug, which breaks their main quest or something, should be fixed first. But I want to know how high this is on their list of priorities, and if it would be easier to just devote myself to starting over. It's pretty surprising by the size of this thread alone that Bioware hasn't made an effort to try and give us an ETA, or anything besides "We're workin' on it."
  5. This is a bug, confirmed by the developers. It doesn't stop romance only, it makes her unavailable to talk to and breaks all her quests.
  6. We shouldn't be ashamed of ourselves. This is an issue that has been known since Beta, and almost everyone here who has experienced it has benched their characters because of the issue. We got a single dev post early on claiming it would be fixed "in a few days", and "a little longer" for those of us that already have the glitch. 2 weeks later, we get a patch that fixes it for new players, and no word since on whether or not this will be fixed for those already bugged soon, or if it will take weeks, or whatever. It's upsetting that everyone is so vocal in this thread about how they've had to abandon their main chars, and Bioware isn't making any more posts telling us what they're doing, how long it will take, whether it would be just faster to reroll, etc. We've got nothing, and this is making a lot of players not want to play the game. Maybe it wouldn't ruin the romance for you to have all of the romance options after the fact, after the main story, completely unconnected to the main plot of the game. But if I just wanted to see that, I'd wait for a youtube vid of the romance convos. We want the narrative flow that the romance should have. We want the romance to connect with the things we are doing in the main plot. We want to have those little bits of dialog during our class quests that connect the main plot and the romance subplot. I agree with you that the lack of homosexual romance options is really, really crappy. But that issue doesn't invalidate this one. We're both stuck so that we can't engage in the romance plots that we wanted to. The only difference is, we were told we'd be able to, and now we can't, and we're not being told when we can expect to be able to start playing our chars again. Homosexual romances should definitely be a huge priority on features to be added, but fixing what's already there should be higher, I think. I get that a lot of this thread has a lot of anger and irrational hatred of Bioware. But most of us here are people who have accidentally glitched ourselves through a dialog option, without any warning, and are now just not playing our mains because of it. We're paying 15 a month to be able to play this game. The least we should be able to get on an issue like this is an ETA, or them telling us that it may take too long so we can just bite the bullet and reroll. We shouldn't be ashamed.
  7. Just made a new jedi knight and slogged through Tython. It doesn't look like a fix is coming anytime soon, so I might as well start now. Exact same face, same advanced class, same skills, similar name. If I had done this when I first found out about the bug, I'd be caught up and then some by now. I'll roleplay it, pretend my character is reflecting on his adventure so far.
  8. I've been lurking on this thread since its been in its teens. I was having a blast playing my Jedi Knight, with the exception of the lack of communication with Kira. When I got to the defector quest, despite being a lightside Jedi, I decided to pick the darkside flirt option, because I wanted to humanize my Jedi, and figured that darkside was the only way to romance her, it being the first flirt option to ever appear with her. She seemed to like my flirting, and everything suggested that it would be fine, and I'd be able to engage in an epic romance whilst saving the galaxy. But then, after another planet, nothing happened with her. I had no idea there was any sort of bug, and I just figured that perhaps I just had to get farther in the story. Thinking little of it at the time, I beat Tattoine, and was preparing to go to Alderann, when I noticed some people talking in general chat about a Kira Carson bug. As they talked, my heart dropped, because what he was describing was exactly what I was experiencing. Kira Carson questline bugged, can't talk to her no matter what affection she's at, etc. I quit the game, and did a frantic google search to try and find the answer to whether my character's story was actually broken. I made it to this thread, and I read all 15 or so pages that were there at the time. I was extremely saddened by the fact that the character I had experienced so much with was bugged in a way that makes his story incomplete. But I took hope, because a dev post was there, in all its yellow glory, saying do not fret, for we shall fix the bug for new players in a few days, and a little bit longer to fix it for those already experiencing the bug. Unhappy, but satisfied, I proceeded to bookmark this thread, and decided to play on an alt for a few days. Let's cut to over a week later. We hadn't heard anything from Bioware yet on the fix, and while I was unhappy with that, I still believed that they'd update their ETA any second now, or they would release the fix really soon. I had spent my game time working on a few alts, and occasionally going on my Jedi Knight, doing space missions and getting ahead in my crafting. Then the new patch comes out, and there is an ambiguously worded note saying that the Kira Carson quest has been fixed. Holding my breathe in suspense, I load up my game, go onto my Jedi knight, and look down at Kira Carson's portrait. And I see the "wants to talk to you" icon there. Excitedly, I rush back to my ship. As soon as I enter the hangar, my heart drops again. The icon's gone. Saddened again, I look to this thread for guidance. Surely a dev will have posted, explaining that this patch was to fix the bug for new players, and telling us when we can expect our fix. No such luck. And now we cut to today. We haven't had any more communication from the devs, except for "we are working on it". My Knight has blue and purple gear made for the next ten levels, and I have bought all the ship commendation upgrades, well on my way to getting the random purple level 50 item box. I've gotten to level 36 before Alderann just from space combat. My main alt, which I just don't care about as much as my knight, is almost to where my Knight left off. I'm going back to university in a few days, and I won't have the time I do now to devote to this game, which I was in love with until the Kira bug. I'm seriously considering cancelling my subscription for this game if we don't get some communication on the issue. Just give me a ballpark ETA, Bioware. I wanna know whether I should just bite the bullet and reroll, or if I should wait just a little more and be able to continue my epic adventure. This is the worst experience I've ever had with Bioware. They were my favorite game company ever, but if they're going to treat all the players with benched characters like this, I don't know whether they deserve the praise I used to give them. Please Bioware, if you read this thread at all, hear me out: Talk to us! Tell us what you're doing to fix this bug. Tell us to stick with you just a little more, or tell us to reroll our characters because this isn't a high priority for you. I don't like being teased like this, and nobody else in this thread likes it either. We love your game, we've been anxiously awaiting to be able to play again, the least you could do is throw us a bone here. P.S. The Taral V flashpoint gave me a huge spoiler too, so that was great.
