  1. No his quote is true. The key being...don't fubar your own system However, it does happen. I remember in my younger days creating a network storm when I accidentally plugged both ends of a cat5 into the same blade of our core switch.....definitely no hours on that one.
  2. Haha ok I deserved that. Yes that is true in IT we are 24/7. I definitely hate those calls on weekends or at 3am. HOWEVER, I would say that on the whole the goal is to work our normal hours right. I can't think of a single time when a system crashed or issue arose just as I was walking out that I wasn't HIGHLY motivated to get whatever it was fixed and go home. Also I'm a nice guy and tend to feel bad for the poor user who is trying to help clients with a down system which is double motivation.
  3. He just gave you another update 3 up. Calm down and look before you leap, they are all at work after hours working on it. Cut them a little slack. It's not a simple machine where you just go "oh look that hose is loose, that's the problem". Its a complex computer program, and I guarantee you no one there wants to be there working on a broken server. They want it fixed so they can go home to their families, maybe have a beer and go to bed. So take a breath.
  4. Easy fix to stop it from redownloading the whole game: Read the DEV answer. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=7529682
  5. Hey man, My main is Pascal on Harby as well. Hit me up some time. Usually on post 10pm central. If I don't respond pm me a few times, I don't always catch chat scrolls.
  6. Can you give us a little more information? Is it giving you an error? Crashing? What's it doing....
  7. The only thing I could think of is are you forcing a setting through the Nvidia control panel? That might override the game.
  8. I'm gonna give you something that really helped me: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnh8S07afaBnXfoiU_FDizQ/playlists Go to his playlist on "get credits fast". I would start more towards the end. Most of his earlier videos are relevant, but he starts doing more with the cartel market later on. He also goes through the packs as they come out and tells you what is worth buy and what isn't. He advocates waiting for "blowout" sales and then keeping the items till the packs are embargo'd. Then sell them for high prices. However, the current packs aren't that great at least in his opinion for this. The best thing I've found is to take a week and watch the prices on some of the items in the packs, or for example the meditation chamber, and see how well they are doing on the GTN. Then buy accordingly. For example over Christmas I bought a Wampa companion. Right now its going for 20-30 on the gtn, but I'm sure in a few more months I can get more. Good luck
  9. Very top right of the page, click on your username. It will drop down and say "private message". You can send it to their forum name.
  10. They had an add out the other day. It's only going to be available from the 10th to the 14th for I think 750 cartel coins. If I remember correctly. Not sure where the add has gone. OP I wouldn't worry it will be up eventually.
  11. I don't think it's insane. Every class has a stun break/getoutofstun ability. So if there wasn't a second stun there would be no point to stunning anything because everyone could just clear it and move on. This way there's more dynamic fights. "Do I stun early knowing they can break it, and will probably stun be right back?" "Do I use my stun break now and get out of it? or do I ride out the damage and wait to use it on the second stun?" I like it the way it is!
  12. I agree try changing your password on the swtor site and maybe run the launcher directly from the file structure. That will bypass Origin. As to the windows 10 keyboard I don't think that will work, but you might call swtor and ask them what options they have for handicap users. Good luck!
  13. You can change the resolution in the .ini file. Go to: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings\client_settings.ini. There are two lines: NativeHeight = NativeWidth = Set it to whatever resolution you want. For Font I found this: http://http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=875819
  14. Go to the GTN and open it. Shift Left click on the dye to populate it in the GTN search field, and see what others are selling at. a.) If multiples come up, see what they are selling at. Then decide if you want to wait until you can sell for a higher price, or sell it around what others are. b.) If nothing comes up meaning no one has one to sell you have a rare dye. Sort ALL of the dyes by price and see what the really expensive ones are going for. Start trying to sell it at a higher price and work your way down until it sells.
  15. I play a Defense Guardian and LOVE it. I've only PVP'd a few times since I came back but its definitely still viable in PvP. I can't speak to being a Defense with power spec, as I mostly have defense and absorb etc. Also I've only been back for 2 months so my gear is crap right now lol, BUT that should speak to the class because I have no trouble surviving. The main thing if you are going this route is "Know your Role". You job is not to DPS people, its to defend, CC, and distract. The first thing I do is run in to a group of enemy players and immediately AOE taunt. That lowers their DPS on anyone but you, so a big help for your team, and damage mitigation medals for you! Then start moving through attacking and stunning priority targets. Make sure you have guard up on a teammate as well. NOW you can start DPSing. Don't get me wrong, while you may not be DPS spec you can still put out hurt. Figure out who is squishy and jump on them. Use your stuns and wreck them. You'll get plenty of kills. Finally annoy/distract. Survivability is your main weapon use it! See that group of 3 enemies trying to take a point. Run over, jump in and start banging on all of them. They all try to grab the point at the same time? Use your cone attack to keep them from getting it. They all turn on you? With your defensive cooldowns you can stay alive a long time, and every second you keep them from doing something else is a second that the rest of their team is outnumbered. You may not kill one of them, but your DPS numbers and Defending numbers will be going up gaining you more medals and points. I usually end matches with 15-18 medals and in the top 1, 2, or 3 All that not to mention how fun it is to leap across into a group cause some havoc and mix it up in melee, then blade dance back across the battle to someone else to wreck. SO MUCH FUN! ENJOY IT!
  16. I would contact support at that point. In my signature there is a link to the rules. As long as he meets those criteria should be good. The unknown error sounds like an account thing so you'll probably need them to look at it.
  17. Use what you want. I run without a healing companion often too. Just means I sit down a little more, but I burn through mobs like fire. When I feel it getting too tough or slow I'll switch companion to healing and carry on till I feel I can switch back. With the 250% xp this month you'll be overleveling everything anyway so damage companion will probably be just fine.
  18. I LOVE how many abilities the Guardian has. I have multiple characters, and the guardian is the most fun to play for me. The vast range of abilities is VERY flexible. Just because you have all those abilities doesn't mean your using them all at once. Many are situational. Just practice for a week or two and it isn't a problem any more. If they were to change it we would have 5 abilities to rotate through which would be boring. Don't change it!
  19. I haven't played Jug yet, but I will when I start my dark side guy. I have a Jedi Knight Guardian which is the same as the Jug. Defense spec. Like he said the mobility is great! Leap, Guardian Leap, and Blade Blitz. I really enjoy tanking because I feel like a Jedi getting in the mix with the saber. Finish and enemy find another and leap to it. Leap on cooldown? Point at my target and Blade Blitz to them hitting everything in my path for some damage. Both of those down and my healer in trouble? Guardian leap to the heal from across the battlefield switch target and tank it. Once its dead find a new target throw my saber at it and leap to it. Like I said above, I already have a guardian. So it says something about the fun of the class that I want to play the same thing when I roll my dark side guy. I love it so much I would rather stick with it than switch to dual sabers or something else. AWESOME fun to tank like that. Obviously different skill names for the jug, but abilities work the same. ENJOY!
  20. Totally wrong way to go. Its so anticlimatic to see a boss drop and.......nothing Take a book from the Divisions page on how they turned things around. GIVE THE L00TS! People want to see that loot drop!
  21. I am impressed. However the evil in me wants to take one of the purple mats in one of the full bays so its hard to see and swap it spots with a different level mat. HAHAHAHA!
  22. I LOVE LOVE LOVE playing my Jedi Knight. The story was AMAZING, and I felt it really married into the expansion story line well. As mentioned the knight is melee. I love it because I feel like as a Defense Guardian I can just leap in and start going wild with my saber. I really feel like I'm in their dueling, reflecting blaster bolts, doing flips. There's also good mobility in it too so I feel like I can move around the battlefield well. Plus the Guardian has 3 modes. Defense Tank, Vigilance single DPS, Focus AOE DPS. So its a very flexible class. It was my first character and is still my favorite.
  23. Hey welcome to you both! I too was once a wow player haha 1.) That's a great way to level. They changed the experience a while ago, and you get a ton from doing the main quest. Enough that if you stick to it with just a few side quests here and there you'll max level. Make sure at the end of the session that you log off in a cantina or your starship or the fleet so you get "rest XP". EDIT: Also on each planet their is a main planetary quest vein. When I'm leveling I do my main class quest and the planet vein with occasional side quests and that's plenty. I'd recommend y'alls first time through do as many side quests as you want though. There are some good ones. 2.) Totally incorrect! Make different characters!! For the main story lvl 1-50 you can join each other on your class missions. You'll even have the opportunity to talk in her cut scenes. Its a lot of fun, and I would encourage the diversity. The ONLY exception to that is the starter planets. I'll use Republic for example. Jedi Knight/Consular start on Tython. Trooper/Smuggler start on Ord Mantel. So if one of you is a smuggler and one a jedi you would be apart for that brief starter time. Not really a big deal in the grand scheme as there is so much story content after that. 3.) In my signature click on the 2nd link about the benefits of referrals. 4.) I would just check youtube for a professions guide. That will help you decide what you want to be. As to making money, some do better than others. However, you can make plenty of money just doing quests, selling loot, etc. Once you get into OPS sometimes you'll get the super rare crafting materials that sell for millions on the GTN. 5.) In your legacy window I would recommend the companion gift boost, and the rocket boots. Good quality of life. Again watch some videos, as there are so many options to choose from. If you want to know how to use cartel coins to be rich look for SwtorTV on youtube. He's got a playlist on it. 6.) XP and Credits. Once you hit level 70 they also give you command XP which helps you get crates for better gear. Think of Heroic missions as some of the dungeons in WoW. You generally need at least one other person because they are tougher missions, but after you reach high level you can solo them. 7.) So there are two types of gear. Static gear and modifiable gear. Static gear comes with stats, and that's what they are period. Modifiable gear you can take the components out of, and put better ones in. So you can keep the look of it but increase its stats to parallel your level. As to appearance, on the right side of your character window their are some tabs to create outfits. Essentially you put any piece of gear regardless of level in there and create an outfit. Save it. Then you can visually make that outfit show on your character regardless of what gear you have on. 8.) There is gear score. Its a few lines under the name and it will be an item rating. Max now I think is 230. Also go into the settings for the UI and look for one about comparing gear or showing more tooltip info about gear. That should help too. Hope that helps. My main is Pascal on the Harbinger server if you need help in game!
