  1. People changed servers during the launch high server queues, in most games at launch they intentionally set the queues low so people spread out more then increase as time goes on. And yes a lot of the wow fans left when they found out this wasn't wow with lightsabers but no one really cares about them anyways. I bet server caps are almost double what they were at launch in addition to people changing servers to join friends, etc...game is on the rise not the fall.
  2. Didn't read it because this is the internet and walls of text are SCARRYYYYYY....that being said if you don't like the game **** and don't come back we don't want you. There are FAR FAR FAR more people that like it than don't. Stop trying to prove us that are enjoying ourselves otherwise. On a note on the title...being different isn't a mistake...if you left a game you didn't like and are finding this isn't the same (but you didn't like it?) then THAT was a mistake.
  3. I play an Arsenal Merc and while tracer missile is the goto ability its no where near OP especially in PVP. It has an easily long enough cast time to be interrupted constantly and forces the BH to stand still and get beat down.
  4. Only read half the first post and only have this to say...swtor is not wow it has similarities because it is an MMO first, secondly wow killed itself by going carebear and just plain being old. TOR didn't have anything to do with wow's demise they have been dropping for a while now and will continue to tank even after their next expansion because people have moved on despite the fact a lot of people here wish this game was wow (seriously? have somevariety in your life) PS. Mankrik can't be someone's wife as Mankrik is a man.....oh and his wife is dead...good luck finding her body.
  5. You've played 20-30 good mmo's and you're still a mouse clicker? Learn to keybind and get better memory with your abilities and things will be much smoother. I never have to look at my bars except a quick glance to check if a CD is up on a major ability. Also, by default they're not bound by default; but, you can have keybinds that switch your bars. I have my shift+# keys to cycle bars so I have my healing bar (3) and my damage bar (1) separated. If I need to go into healing mode I quickly shift+3 and take care of business, same for damage. I also have my bottom expansion bar as my "stances" or long duration buffs. This is stuff clicking doesn't matter and should generally be used out of combat under most situations. It's like driving a car, you watch ahead and look down only on occasion to make sure everything is still in check.
  6. Well from what I've been reading all day (work? psh) the problems are as follows: Bioware purposely leaves bugs unfixed to get people to cancel. The game is not an exact clone of WoW and that is bad. There isn't the ability to use addons so people actually have to use judgement and play the game instead of let a bunch of boxes all over their screen tell them how. People need a log of damage done so they can get rock hard epeens and play with it all day. The game is 2 weeks old so years worth of expansion content should have been released by now but hasn't. There is nothing to do at level 50 because they leveled too quickly and have no one else to play with. Crafting is only good for the first 49 levels and it is unacceptable that people wait for content patches to add more recipes or do OPs/FPs to see if any rare drops are in those loot tables. I may have missed a few tho.
  7. There are many other factors that determine if a person is doing as they should. If they're dying in the first 5 seconds of an encounter, standing in aoes, standing there looking like an idiot when low on resources (you have fillers for that), sitting there with full or no resources. This is a pretty heavilly resource based game, you can easilly tell if people are doing what they should by monitoring their resource usage in the raid/party frames. If a BH is at 0 for an extended period of time they're wrong, if a jedi is at max for too long they're wrong etc.
  8. Baddies can be picked out without meters. If you cant figure out who is doing wrong then you're just as blind as you are stupid. I'm not in any way saying you should take every gimp around but people who think that the only thing that matters is a number in a box are missing most of the core principles of an encounter.
  9. Self combat logs are something I'd favor but just for informative purposes. Knowing what ability I just got hit with that knocked out half my health, what killed me, why my ability was interrupted, or just comparing similar abilities for their damage would be useful. Anything more than that is pointless for many reasons. Firstly who cares what others are doing. You dont need logs to tell if someone is being a baddy. Secondly combat logs are bad from a technical perspective. The servers already use a lot of bandwidth to tell you what the target's HP is and what animations should be going on around you. When you add every single ability near you being used and all damage done, crit or no crit, ability name, etc. the bandwidth cost rises. Get too much bandwidth and you start experiencing lag which is far worse than not being able to see how hard your party member just smacked that critter for.
  10. I have a single AMD HD6870 and run all game settings maxed and video card settings forced at medium and average over 100FPS, if I max the AA and others it can get a little choppy in some situations (like 50fps) but still playable. Check out http://www.passmark.com and check out the video card benchmarks and find a card with high rating in your budget (shop around for deals on higher cards too!)
  11. His point was that you don't need a mod OR combat log because you can just read the abilities and use some basic math and arrive at the same conclusion. DPS meter addons/mods take away from the game by crucifying "under performing" players be it by skill or class/spec choice. This is a stupid concept in itself because throughput is only a fraction of the encounter. Someone that has a terrible rotation and deals out less damage can still be way better than another person because they are pros at other parts of the fight (ie interrupts, not taking unnecessary damage, better threat management, etc) Anyone can stand in a fireball cranking out crazy numbers and putting high stress on your healer, that doesn't make you the better choice to bring to a fp/op.
  12. Maybe I'm missing something or I'm terrible at playing but last I checked even ranged have to face their targets. I play a BH and get messages all the time telling me I'm facing the wrong way. There is a certain area in front that you can still attack melee or ranged. If a ranged is strafe running they can keep you in that cone and use instant abilities or their filler ability and still hit you just as you can do the same except you have to be closer to them than they to you.
  13. So you're saying every product ever has steady sales from the day it goes on sale for a long period after? Maybe it could be is there was a surge after it went on sale and during the holidays and now most that want it right away have it. Once you have a blender you don't go out and buy another one.
  14. I'm not going to read 51 pages worth of posts before I comment so i'll stick to the OP's post and make my post 51 pages long instead. I agree with most of what you posted but there are a few things I disagree with either as a whole or your reasons for them. Performance can be determined without one well enough but a combat log would make it nice just to see what you're doing. It isn't a "*MUST* by any means however. Part of an encounter is watching whats going on, it takes more skill to be able to pick out what you need than have the UI baby you through the game. I agree with the interface changes for now. Making the guild more of a seperate chat channel would be nice. The bank I also agree with but I don't think this needs to be done in the near future. I disagree, it make the game more immersive and dynamic if you actually play the game and not a meter. If you keep pulling things you should use that as an indicator not just spam until your meter is close to the tanks and wait. That is terribly boring. I agree here but I think their reasoning behind splitting them is to allow access to quests better. "Kill 10 exchange forces." gets a lot harder when 40 other people are on that same quest and there are only 15 exchange forces in the area. That being said I think they should remove the instances (makes PVP less enjoyable too) and increase the spawn rate and camp sizes. Custom UI for layout or theming...yes, addons...ABSOLUTELY NO! Addons just take decision making and skill away from the player. If you're too bad where you cant play without a wall of text and boxes telling you what to do then you need go play hello kitty adventure island or something because this game may be too much. If you're talking about different targeting/casting options then sure add that as a game option but any and all addons should be left in a galaxy far away from this game. This could go either way, part of leveling up is looking like an idiot in randomly pieced together gear, maybe add dying or like color crystals affect ls/blaster colors, make armoring slots have a color affect on armor. Simply an option to make your character legit sucks a little realism out of the game. Again something I agree with but want to add to. Bracketing and removing the level/stat enhancing buff would make the instanced pvp game more fun and balanced. I'm actually for only having instanced pvp up to 49 and at 50 you're allowed into a more massive open world pvp zone. I know EA still has some old mythic people laying around, DAoC had (well STILL has) the best pvp system. It is harder to do with 2 factions but still possible and IMO should be implemented into this game. Another agreement but I want to add my comments. I like the space encounters but after a few trips it starts to feel more like a glorified space invaders game. There is no randomness and the only thing you do is shoot stuff there is no ship control. I'd rather have full vehicle control with fixed guns than able to shoot wherever. Here is my fix: -Easily toggle between mouse controlled ship with fixed guns(guns fire where ship is pointed) and a less drivable auto pilot (WASD driving) and mouse controlled gun mode. -leaving the area causes you to abandon the mission if the main mission isn't complete else exits the mission (and you get your reward) if it is. Timer is only to complete the mission in but you can complete early. -when you add control to ships you can even open up space battle warzones (wouldn't that be fun eh?)
  15. Addons don't make the player better...they make the game easier and force you to focus on a bunch of status boxes instead of the world around you (that artists and developers put their soul into creating for you!). Addons take the skill away form the game. People complain that things aren't challenging enough but when you bring a mechanical reaper (google it) to a knife fight you're not really being challenged. Min/maxing can be done in stats because if you look at how the play mechanics are set up...your performance wont be by perfecting a rotation, it will be in resource management and keeping up buffs/debuffs. If that is done correctly, damage/performance will fall into place. I've played many MMOs that didn't allow addons and it was plenty easy to judge my and other group member performances. If you really want to play a game where the only thing that matters is a bunch of boxes giving number readouts and telling you status effects or whatever, go play an old MUD and leave the real gamers to this game. If you want to enjoy a game for what it is, enjoy the visuals, get immersed in the story, and be a bigger part of your character then pull out your light saber or blaster and have fun. On the topic of customizations, those I fully support. Any visual or layout change should be allowed just to make people more comfortable. Everyone still has the same functionality but being able to move quickslots, change font type, change party/op frame layout, etc will make the game more enjoyable for players.
