There has been alot of complaining lately about everything from the game engine to pvp, lack of endgame to cost of mod removal. I play on a PVE server and pvp in warzones when i want to pvp, im sorry to tell most pvp buffs, but it has and always will be a side game. The mmo's that have come out based soely around pvp have been worthless, i dont think pvp should be neglected, but when it comes to pve content and pve function, pvp should be on a back burner.
I do not have the best computer in the world, core i5, 16 gig ddr3, 128g ssd, nvidia 460 gtx, my client runs at a constant 40-50 fps regardless of where i am in the game, i dont see the issues some people are seeing as far as function of the client, i do see the bugs that need fixed from time to time, and experience some server lag, but as far as the client itself... no issues, if you have a better computer than me and have framerate issues, you need to remove some viruses and get your hardware checked cause something could be wrong.
Lack of endgame seems to be an issue for some, what do you expect? the game is not even a year old. Endgame the first year of WoW consisted of UBRS, LBRS, and DM. 40 man raids like ONY and MC were not released until after strat and scholo about 4 months into the second year. GW2 has little endgame one you max level as well, 3 raids and one single boss raid encounter from what ive seen thus far, and you expect a no sub game to actually develop more for you between now and an expansion? Im not saying GW2 is not a good game, it is, i think that the MMORPG community has become impatient and expect everything perfect upon release. It isnt gonna happen, GW2 isnt bug free either, hell WoW still has its problems.
The hardcore players of MMO's are the ones that seem to be having the most issues with any game that is out now. Most people are casual players now, so games are being made to cater to that. I do not think that the free to play option is going to hurt this game as much as some seem to think, as a matter of fact, i predict most MMO'sm even WoW, to change to a free to play model in the coming year or so. The MMO industry is in a decline, right along with the recession, people are having to work more and have less time to play and less money to spend on games.
I personally used to have subs to several games, i enjoy playing multiple games to suit which ones i want to play at a given time, because of my financial situation recently i have had to choose one so i picked SWTOR. Wit the free to play model becoming more popular, it is allowing me to play a larger variety of games in my free time, i will cntinue my sub to SWTOR, i will buy GW2 and play it when i feel like it, I play LoTRO, D&D online, DC universe online, and AoC now. If WoW goes FTP i will play it again.
I guess my point of it all is that if you are going to unsub to play another game, dont count the older ones out, they have made a steady player base out of most of them. Take a break for a bit, play GW2, come back in a few months under a ftp account and see if anything that made you leave has changed. This game has a great community and we need to keep it that way.
