  1. Yvin, no, hovering the mouse over CUNNING does not tell me what it actually does. It says: Cunning increases your aptitude with technological abilities. The first thing which comes to my mind is NOT better aim and more tech damage, whatever the latter actually is.

Do what Yvin said then hover over some of you're abilities. You'll notice they say Tech Ability or something similar. That's when the clarity sets in.

  2. I literally wore Sun Glasses when playing both Hoth and Tatooine outdoor areas. I didn't adjust my settings because they work well for every other Planet. Nerdy? Perhaps but was a simple solution for me at the time.

I like the realism. You can really get snow blind on Hoth, how cool is that?

  3. Check out Synthweaving. The "Ablative Lacqerous Vest" (which has armor, mod, and enhancement slots) requires level 39, even with no mods installed. Also, the "Channeler's Lower Robe" (also fully modable) requires lvl 27 with no mods installed.

Yeah I just saw that on the Armormech recipes. I guess it's not a bug, just poor design. What I said holds true for all Commendation oranges at least.

EDIT: Actually have you tried putting a low level armoring mod in one of these to see if it changes the level?

  4. Not entirely true. Some of the crafted, modifiable armors do have a base level. My marauder can make a fully modable armor piece that cannot be worn unless you are level 39 or higher, with or without mods.

Sounds like a bug if that's the case. Is it completely modifiable? If you can't remove the Armoring then it won't change the level.

EDIT: Looking at Torhead it looks like all the armormech oranges are like that. Quite lame i'd say. Maybe not a bug but definitely lame.

  5. ah, but according to other players Moddable items dont have a level by itself, its only the Armoring/hilts and Barrels that make the level difference, so i "should" be able to extract the mods, then put them in my inventory and replace them with say lvl 20 mods, and the item is 25

    This is correct.

  6. Its still up, isnt it? That means its making enough to be maintained.

And i never said i have anything against microtransactions. If people want to spend their money on name change/server transfer or other frill, then so be it.

What are you talking about? Your arguments make 0 sense. On the Pay to Play games your argument is that they can produce expansion packs on the cost of the subscriptions alone correct? Well where is your evidence of that? Don't link me some silly YouTube page again either. I want to see reports that subscription fees for any game would be enough to pay for all operating costs (Property Leases, Taxes, Employee Wages, Server Farms, Utility Bills, ect. ect.) AND development fees for current and future content before making wild claims that subscription fees are enough to cover everything.

  7. Guild wars, they've been operational for so many years now, not a single month of subscription. -_-

Its like you're just ignoring some stuff.

You're ignoring the fact that Guild Wars has microtransactions that replace subscription costs.

We're not talking about Guild wars or any other F2P game though, we're talking about P2P games. You said they can manage with just a subscription fee. Where are your numbers to back it up? How much do they spend on Property, taxes, employees, servers, electricity, ect. ect. ect.?

  8. I'm not saying anything is free, what i am saying is that they can manage with just a subscription fee, or just by selling the game and some expansion packs.

This is a HUGE assumption about something that you know nothing about. If you can get hard data about how much is spent and how much is earned then you might have a case, otherwise you're just blowing hot air.

  9. Is the content you're given in wow really worth 360 $? Was wrath of the lich king worth 400 dollars? Sure, you might say raiding made it better. But thats because you played with friends.

We don't need to overpay this, just look at the video, the server costs for NCsoft are 4 million (per month i think) for all their MMOs, they don't need to charge for everything. But they will as long as the people pay.

IT'S A BUISNESS. THEY NEED TO MAKE MONEY.

Seriously. And yes, it's worth the cost. As I said $15 a month is the cheapest cost of endless entertainment you'll find anywhere short of a ball and cup game.

It's worth it to me at least, it's obviously not to you and it's not going to change so just go ahead and unsubscribe.

Also, mr hutt guy who called me a troll, GW wasn't a subscription based mmo, it was buy to play, and it sold enough games and is still making enough money that the servers are still online.

Guildwars has microtransactions. That's how free to play games support themselves.

  10. So many people are misunderstanding what he is saying. He's asking if this game supports microtransactions, and he's making the statement that any game that supports microtransactions is not a 'true' subscription based MMO. That's all.

That's what we thought at first, and were confused because WoW doesn't do microtransactions except for a couple items that have nothing to do with content or gameplay, but he's not talking about that. He's talking about expansions.

Sorry for not being clear enough, i'm pretty bad at explaining.

My point is that if the game has a subscription, you should have access to all the content, even the expansion packs.

    That explains it pretty well.

If SWTOR will follow WoW's way of charging for everything, i'll stop subscribing :/

  11. Check the video i linked

The cost for upkeep is a lot smaller these days, the cost per person is under a dollar per month.

And is the content given between major expansions really worth 180 dollars a year?

In wow, they just release a new raid and then let you play it for 6 months or more.

They're just exploiting you for money.

I don't need to look at your video to know it's ridiculous. Also as I said it's not just about upkeep, it's also about adding in new content throughout the expansion and PROFIT. This is a business after all. It's called Capitalism and if you don't like it don't subscribe but I challenge you to find something that offers as much entertainment for only $0.50 a day. $15 in most places is 1 movie.

  12. Sorry for not being clear enough, i'm pretty bad at explaining.

Seriously? Why did you pay for the game in the first place then? By that logic you shouldn't have had to pay the $60+ for the box.

  13. Got my bounty hunter to level 10 and chose mercenary. Getting my Sith warrior to 10 today.

    Just had a couple questions,

When will I be able to buy a starship or speeder ?

How do I get my companion to go do crew skill stuff?

I chose armstech and the other two scavenging and investigate or something along

    Those lines...

Also how do I LFG ? Is there a certain instance or raid system I can put my name in ?

    Thanks for any help !!

You get a starship after you complete Drumand Kaas (SP?). You can buy a speeder after you level to 25.

Press N to open your companion menu. You can send them to do crew skill stuff from there.

There's no LFG system like WoW, instead you can flag yourself in the Social menu as looking for group with a comment such as General Questing, or a specific Heroic quest or Flashpoint
