  1. 2004...when MMOs were relatively young and the 800 lb gorilla in the room was EQ with a whopping 500k subs. Bioware has had the better part of a decade to see what other devs were doing, what the playerbase generally expected. It seems they did exactly opposite on every count.

Um one you didn't address the bugs I pointed out that are happening now and two we are dealing with a whole new engine and three more importantly unless Bioware bribed Blizzard I doubt oh so much they shared secrets on how to run an mmo.

  2. I can't emphasize this enough. This is NOT , I repeat, NOT an exaggeration , Gharj is (in my opinion) even more messed up than Soa, who at least can't kill me when I'm in the freaking FLEET.

I understand bugs take time to fix.

I understand that testing can't reveal everything.

I understand that some bugs are hard to pin down and may take months.

I understand that right now the focus is on tightning features and stuff that's killing PvE.

But come on. There's never, ever, ever going to be a good way to explain this.

    Molten Core

Added in-game voice for Ragnaros and Majordomo Executus.

Fixed an issue that was causing the first Firelord to stop moving.

Garr will now lose his enrage buff when he leaves combat.

Majordomo Executus will now make the Flamewaker Healers immune to polymorph at the appropriate time, even after failed attempts.

Bringing Flamewaker Healers too far away from Majordomo Executus will now result in the Healers becoming immune to Polymorph.

Line of Sight checks removed from many creature abilities in Molten Core.

Sons of Flame now despawn when everyone wipes.

Ragnaros will reset properly if the raid wipes while submerged.

Bugs sound familiar don't they? These were sorted 4 months after launch.

Lots of bugs in here too. Its almost like bugs are part of running an mmo.

But hey who am I to judge?

  3. Let me know when the beta test end and you released a finished MMO. I may re-sub, that is if the nasties that like bashing people who complain about inferior products will have me.

MMO's are too large a project to make perfect on release. I understand where the mentality is coming from that makes people think that but its not justified.

A bit a pragmatism is needed these days.

    /sips earl gray

    Quite

  4. You guys are kidding me right? Ok, I did forget the space goats, but I'd hardly call them a huge difference. In WoW you can't even decide the size of your green re-skinned human, your ear-differentiated human, or your purple re-skinned and ear-differentiated human. I'm still not impressed.

Not to say that's even that big of deal. How did I get on this topic?

Oh right. I let you guys derail me off the fact that Blizzard just clearly and unequivocally admitted that they are completely and utterly incapable and producing even some semblance of class balance.

But has once in your entire time in WoW has any NPC ever commented on your race and then when you buddy of a different race get treated the same?

    No? Thought Not.

  5. I've read alot of the gripes and complaints on these forums, and i've come to the conclusion that the level of intolerance for bugs and tech issues is way beyond anything i've seen in any other game. The first few month of wow's launch, we experienced up to 20+ days of server down time. During that time i didn't feel the hatred i feel in the swtor forums. Personally I blame the burned out wowers who built unrealistic expectations.

    Thoughts?

I can't dispute this point and I except it as truth.

  6. first they complain SWTOR is a single player game

then they complain SWTOR is a multiplayer game

    what is next

Well if I remember Warcraft forum history which sadly I do it will be '<insert class here> is OP'(which for operatives this is already the case and no I'm not defending them) 'Why is operation/raiding content so hard?' And finally my personal favorite 'why am I paying 15 bucks a month to not see end game. I paid for it.'

Why? Because he has no patience for selfish MMO players who cant be bothered to play with others in a MULTIPLAYER game.

Schubert is right on the money with his thoughts.

Well hes not wrong that people are jerks and can ruin an mmo but honestly lone wolfs don't belong in mmo's. I don't care what examples you give me MMO were not made for you to play solo because even the guy going alone needs players economy or as enemies in pvp.

He's being polite so can't ask him to leave which is much more then I can say for many people here.

  7. Really? There is a Star Wars single-player RPG that has the exact same classes, story, and the same VAs? Cool, I'll look for that.

You presented a reasonable argument but you have not unseated the current one. in order to give the community reasons to work together.

In a budding mmo where the download need not be 3 days you only have room for one type of content vs another. Otherwise this game will appear more spread thin then it already is.

I'm sure someday you may get what you want but in a new mmo where you need to build community it is not this day.

  8. Also there was a reason BW isn't along mods and macro's.

In World of War-Craft developers at blizzcon did state they had reasons for banning certain mods because it made content ridiculously impossible to tune. Keeping both the non-mod players have a fight easy enough that they were not forced to use mods while the mod crew had a fight hard enough to sate their appetite.

Some people say BW isn't learning from the old hat but this shows you that is not the case.

Mod's and Macro's open the door to that issue and in mod country the possibility of getting your account hacked.

Between both of those problems I respect Bioware's wisdom in taking it slowly.

Mods and Macro's are not the be all end all. Petition for better interfaces if you must, hell I will sign them. I don't like ours but Mod's and Macro's is not the solution to this problem.

  9. It's not mouse smoothing.

It's lack of a Hardware Cursor option.

Just another one of the countless options that EVERY GAME IN EXISTENCE today has but SWTOR lacks.

Seriously, amateur indie game devs who live off Ramen and work from cold, dark basements don't make these sort of mistakes and omissions.

And you have the code in-front of you with her specs to ensure this is the case?

  10. See I love Bioware because they have provided the illusion that they care about me. They give me good quality games when EA doesn't stomp on them, they have given me free stuff and killer memories.

But I know its just for profit. I know they aren't going to send me a condolence card when my father dies and frankly the company doesn't care. I'm sure if I showed up at the office and told them they would clap me on the back as individuals but as a whole the day rolls on more money is to be made.

I know the reality of our relationship. I give them money, they give me fun computer times. I love them for that in itself and I'll be sad if and when they close but I know where the line is.

So in short I don't 'Biodrone' because I don't know the above. I do it because I don't want the above to stop.

    Bzzz Bzzz

  11. I want to have a Tank, Healer, and DPS.

I have tried the trooper and the smuggler and i just cant bring myself to play a game set in the Star Wars universe without a saber in my hand.

I was thinking of making a jedi sage for healing, a jedi shadow or Sentinal for DPS and a guardian for tanking.

Now one of those will share a class quest story line, which one would YOU repeat?

Or will the legacy system come into play in this situation to make alts level faster or differently? or Duel speccing AC's for that matter.

Any thoughts or comments on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    dude.... no just no.

I am struggling to reply to this in a such a way that results in a polite response.

I will now end this reply on the note you have no firm grasp on the contents meaning, the way AC classes work. You must be trolling...

  12. How does one foresee an unforeseen bug?

Testers have a bit of a different mentality then most players. Sure they have a better understanding of what they should do to brake something but they had little pvp updates in that patch. They had no reason to go to ilium and look around.

And even if they did they don't get paid to have the mentality of trying to win by any means just play a normal game.

  13. The codex tells you how many datacrons you have collected out of how many total that are available for your faction. In the datacron tab at the top there's a progress bar and at the end of it there's a number over a second number. For an empire character it is */67.

On a slightly unrelated note codex's should be updated across server characters (except maybe datacron) Cause the OCD in me is screaming.

  14. I think the game that will kill WoW will be WoW. One of these days blizzard will do something so bad and stupid that many players are going to look around and be like:

"This doesn't feel like Warcraft anymore."

    And then twilight will fall...

Maybe it has happened already, I maxed leveled myself 4th day after Cata came out and said that exact line to myself. Switched off the account and walked away.

  15. Just another way that the Devs have dropped the ball in this game.

They need to let us know what is coming so we can plan for it. It is amazing how bad the BioWare devs are at basic mmo development.

Frankly, the only thing they did well were the Imperial Storylines.. and those are single player elements.

They were very clear what is happening.

You get server account wide benefits for all your characters on that server. You then can unlock things like 5% bonus movement speed, greater resistance to death gear damage ect.

Also you can unlock new toys for alts like more races, starting gear and titles.

How are they not telling us?

Do you not read twitter facebook, this forum or google search for interviews? Its called doing research.

  16. I kind of agree with what you're saying.

They ARE trying to fix the game, and they ARE trying to add content.

But you don't compare vanilla WoW to current SWTOR. You compare current WoW to current SWTOR.

Not all products are the same. Cars, tools, mainly material things yes you do most of the time however games, movie and tv shows you don't. Hell I know some shows have age horribly but I still watch them without complaint.

Games are a bit different of a beast. You can compare one product refined with time to another just arriving.

It would be like comparing a new born colt with a 4 year race horse.

  17. As much as I tend to agree when I got hunting for datacrons the things I find kinda makes up for that.

You find area's you had no intention of going to before due to 'linear' plot and quests you want to check out.

Maybe the issue is there needs to be more incentive to explore.
