  1. You guys, EVE isn't actually running on one server! Or some special supercomputer lol. It's a server cluster, and is implemented in a way in which we all see it as one server. It's heavily instanced as well, although so is SWTOR. It could be done. Guild Wars uses a similar model as well. In the future, expect most games to have their server architecture built that way.
  2. Talron, When he was explaining 2-slots, he meant that the backplate takes up 2 slots(the part that sticks out the back of your computer, where you plug your monitor in). If you were to compare it with your 5450(which is a single slot card) that it's twice the thickness due to the cooler. You don't need to slots on your motherboard to run it, only two free spots on your cases backplate. Just look at the back of your case where you plug your monitor in, and you should see between 5-7 slots. Does this make sense?
  3. Like I tell everyone, if you want balanced PVP, play a fighting game. Even at max level, the most "balanced" MMO's aren't truly balanced. There are a TON of variables involved in PVP. Your PVP group, and your role within that group are more important than what class your playing.
  4. I hear ya, but the reality is, there is no such thing as balanced PVP. Some games truly are more balanced then others, but there are too many complexities to make PVP in an MMO as balanced as lets say a fighting game. Fighting games are almost 100% player skill based, and MMO's are kind of a combination of player skill, class, and group. Many more variables.
  5. I would assume that because temps were "normal" during beta, not much has changed since that time in terms of dust build up, although it is worth checking. Certain aspects of this game engine are not optimized that well to be honest. I have a pair of liquid cooled GTX 580's, and my temps are fairly high as well. Higher than Skyrim, BF3, and Metro 2033 on ultra dx11 1920 x 1080. Turn shadows down a bit, or even completely off(no fun I know). Are you currently running 285.58 drivers?
  6. Sorry, I just noticed you mentioned the specs on your laptop It sounded like you may have been trying the game on another machine as well?
  7. Hopefully I can provide some helpful advice. I know you mentioned you have a 20Mbps connection, but that doesn't mean your getting 20Mbps outside of your ISP's network to the internet. I would first run some speed tests throughout the day to gauge what kind of bandwidth you're actually getting. I would reccomend Speedtest.net, and choose a server hosted by someone other than your ISP. I would be willing to bet you're getting half that bandwidth during peak times, maybe even less. Also, what CPU and GPU are you currently using? Certain graphical options have a larger impact on performance than others, and shadows are one of them. Try turning shadows off to see if you that helps(it should). I think your main goal should be to determine if you are experiencing server side lag, or local lag. Considering it's only noticeable in certain environments, I would imagine it's mostly localized, with computer hardware being the main factor, but you never know. Do you notice a delay between activating a skill, and having it trigger? I played the beta(just got my early access invite) and server lag was tremendous. Sometimes I think it's hard for people to differentiate the difference.
  8. I just got an email from Amazon saying my order has been upgraded to release date shipping. Oddly enough, even though that is the 20th, the estimated delivery date is now the 16th.
