  1. So first off I want to say that it is VERY COOL that if you hit 50 on a character, say a pureblood sith warrior, you can roll a pureblood jedi! This is an excellent idea and opens up a lot for the game...

    However...

People were not aware of this feature, many people, myself included, already rolled their alts, have them leveled anywhere from 30ish-50! So that entire aspect of the game is completely lost on us...

What I am asking is that maybe, it would be a good idea, to allow a ONE TIME SPECIES CHANGE for those who have unlocked it already for a character that already exists

I know for a fact I'm NOT going to be deleting my other 2 50's to make them a different species that I've unlocked on another character, no matter how much I want to be that race, however taking the option away from those who have already leveled their alts, is NOT a good thing! Rewarding it to those who haven't done that as of yet, isn't a good thing in any way to those who already have alts and have leveled them... The one time option I think is a great way to keep everyone happy

I had read and watched Bioware say that you will not be allowed to change your species after they are already made, then why put this option in after the fact???

Going to make a poll on this as well to see the results of peoples opinions on just this matter...

To allow a ONE TIME species change for those who have unlocked, through buying or leveling that species to 50 through Legacy, to have an already leveled/made character alt, change their species or not to allow it

Let me know what you think!!!

you are right...but they do not care...it would be admitting that we have been paying to beta test...and EA wont do it even though the BW team has mostly admitted it. BW is unhappy with EA's policy over them.

  2. pro tip

playing world of warcraft for years doesnt make you a mmo vet

    Fact !

WoW is like LoL ... a childs game full of clickers....please stop compareing decent programming to junk.

Yes...WoW is junk...but the bible is still the greatest scam of all

  3.

Hello everyone! James Ohlen, Game Director for Star Wars: The Old Republic, is on the hunt for direct feedback once again. This week, he's asking for feedback on a general topic that I think you'll all have an opinion on!

James takes feedback directly via his Twitter account, but if you're not on Twitter, we're going to reproduce his question here and would love to get your feedback here too - as well as your votes on a poll.

As always, we ask you to limit your feedback to the question at hand and keep your feedback constructive as well as on-topic!

Here is James' question for this week:

Which Star Wars fantasy excites you the most? Full 3D space battles, vehicle combat (AT-ATs), pod/speeder racing or capital ship battles?

You can vote in the attached poll. Obviously each of these fantasies are big, enormous ideas, so we're sure you'll have plenty of feedback to give!

You can follow James on Twitter @JamesOhlen; you can follow our main account @SWTOR.

You will get more responses if you give a 1.2 release date. People have quit in masses due to the delay and refusal to answer a simple question. Gamers arent as patient now days after years of mistreatment....

An answer will gain some respect back.

If EA is holding your tounges....do what Mythic never did with warhammer and ignore them, and concentrate on whats most important...keeping customers happy and paying.

  4. So now we are harping on them for having a "release it when it's done" mentality wth this massive update?

When Valve or Blizzard do this with their games, it's lauded as a commitment to excellence. And they often have even less to communicate to the users, regarding when things will be coming out.

They aren't going to put a date on it until they are sure that everything is balanced to their satisfaction, and working properly. Considering the amount of complaining about changes in the PTS forum, I'm unsurprised that it hasn't been given a date yet.

There is no 1.2 apparently.....since they wont commit......

commitment to a date means they will try hard...but they arent apparently....

lack of funds due to unsubs?

They wont answer anyone other than look at this idea....look at that idea...watch the lil birdy

  5. After exploring the new legacy system on test (it's meh, my sub is up in 2 weeks, not resubbing) it is plainly obvious how the Legacy System will be tied into a cash shop down the road. Earn things through in game money, legacy points, or cash shop.

It's actually a devious design that should make them tons of money

    Agree...

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=3741638#post3741638

They wont even comment to anyone on a 1.2 release date....

    Its all a lie.....like the cake....1.2 is a lie

  6. In thread :

    http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=391098

A community member asked when 1.2 was going to be....

Dev reply was that there will be a notice before hand...

Please answer the question as it was originally planned for March...or is there going to be a 1.2 ? Or is the world coming to an end on December 22, 2012 ?

Im sorry but your reply was nothing more than innapropriate to a paying subscriber...

Paying customers would like a release date.... otherwise we see this as an empty promise...

Edit : Thanks in advance for a real answer or link to an acceptable answer

  7. Pumping this first server transfer , pay or not.

Cho Mai, Imperial side, sunday after noon at 6.30pm est, 9 people on fleet.

due to health concerns of the servers, a force transfer/merge would be free...this was done in warhammer and EA never charged...

However if they offer paid...people would happily pay now to get a good gaming experience for their bucks

  8. No, sub numbers are always a bit iffy.

For example SoE used to claim anyone with a particular station account as an EQ1 subscriber, whether they'd ever played EQ1 or not.

This is an interesting read on the "black art" of MMO subscription numbers.

Nice to see someone doing the research as well...

But we shouldnt go there... for now, we just want EA to start being honest. Then once they are honest, we can work to help them....who wants to help a lier?

  9. Think we are down to about 150k Concurrent users or a little over 1.3 million subs.

One major issue/battle since day one on these forums is players believing that 1.7 million subs should equal 1.7 million concurrent users which is of course absurd. And the players who still love this game a losing the battle to this type of thinking.

That is very true and where many mess up their definition of population. I think the main concern is that when fleets fall under 50 at prime time, there is a concern. RP is the way to enjoy this game....RP-PVP will give you every opportunity possible.

The law doesn't come into it. A subscriber refers to someone with a subscription (which is the word used to define a paying customer). Whether they are in their initial 30 day trial period, or on their paid time is not relevant though, but this is people that have a paid subscription setup on their account, not people who have trial accounts.

Otherwise any corporation would simply create billions of dummy trial accounts to bolster their numbers for all to see wouldn't they?

What you have described is how Blizzard opporates as well as how Warhammer went before BW took over it from Mythic. BW turned the game honest but it was too late...though the game is still going and fun.

However the reporting method shows account and subscriptions as well as sales of copies of the games with downloads added in. You throw together the downloads and count them as sales or copies of the games in distribution, and you add in trial accounts with subs to all count as active accounts....this is how EA and Blizz work their numbers to investors.

There is a lot of data on it and a movement to request changes in reporting of online gaming company reporting methods. Bottom line, the numbers were expected to go down, they went down faster than expected and 1.2 is delayed. The dalay of 1.2 has hurt the game and there is hopes taht it will recover many lost accounts. I for one hope things change but it will take about a year to fix many of the problems that customers found with the game. In the mean time we have other choices, and some come in methods of how we enjoy this game.

  10. Bioware/EA cannot lie about subscription numbers without breaking the law. Server populations are an entirely different matter. They don't have to lie about them because they don't have to talk about them. Instead they let posters speculate all they want just like we see here on the forums.

Case in point, what exact numbers does "standard" actually mean? Light, heavy, etc.. same way. Without a reference to actual numbers, those terms can mean anything that Bioware wants them to mean. They are in complete control of those terms.

I would like for them to get rid of those terms and, instead, show actual players playing on each server and it would also be nice to see the split between Empire and Republic. They won't do that though. I'm even surprised they show # of players in a specific zone but since there are numerous planets, flashpoints, warzones, etc., no one actually knows how many total players are logged into the server.

notice that they had the torstatus website change its format from numbers to the low/standard/high/very high/full format?

they are not lieing about numbers, but they are fudging them by adding in trials

  11. A sub is someone who is currently in their paid time period, not someone playing on a free account/trial period. The very definition of the word means they are subscribers.

Also why do you keep responding to everyone as if they are Bioware employees?

Also why don't you answer anyones questions? Instead choosing to extract fiction from your poot chute.

Also before you harp on about legality, EA, Bioware, Blizzard and various other market leading developers are open companies, who's stocks, shares and business acuments are visible for all to see, through sites such as gamesindustry.biz - There are also departments, such as the consumer rights and fair trade association in place to ensure companies and corporations are only releasing factual information in their press statements. If a corporation was to lie about their figures, they could be closed down or very heavily fined.

I agree, however EA has shown in the past that this is not how they document their numbers. Other companies do the same. Until it is written into law that free trials do not count as active subscribers ...this behaivor will continue

  12. Problem with your assessment is the last numbers were posted before the free trials.

    Try harder.

last numbers were posted before the 60 day time cards ran out :)

free trials are done when population starts to decline in attempt to save the population... they needed to have the numbers of trials count as subs this quarter, you will see in may they will start an unlimited trial up to level 20, this will be their attempt to save the next quarter report and following ones.

If you are still confused, I welcome you to check the server forums and read the tens of thousands of posts about population complaints :) then come back here and share the results of your studies. I suspect you wont do this though and will continue to spam defense and insults

  13. I dunno, that would be a cunning way to raise offical sub numbers. SoE did something similar (well they did several things similar in fact over the years).

yea its what EA did in warhammer with the unlimited free trials....to this day they count them as active subs to their investors...though with only 1 EU and 1 NA server...its hard to claim the population they do.

Until laws change to cover it, trial will always count as a sub.

  14. To use a tired old mem: Fail assumption is fail.

I will just quote myself from an earlier thread to show how wrong assuming 500 on fleet is a low and bad number is by using logic and math..

    So.. sorry

Except you have to subtract 66% to get more accurate numbers :) You numbers are old estimates prior to 60 day time cards running out.

And your estimates are high and counting alts :)

As someone who tracks these things in games and enjoys playing the numbers... you should know your numbers are on the high end and aged.

Redo your math to current numbers please and try again

LOL, if they lied about the numbers then they will have legal action taken as they would have broken laws.

    Try harder.

No there are legal ways around numbers and trial accounts are a common method, as well as free trial and weekend passes....if they get a trial sub once in a month, that still counts for the month or quarter.

So if you have 300k subs + 100k trial = 400k subs reported...even if those trial never pay a single cent or become active subs. Thats how to lie about numbers in the investment world. Blizzard has been doing it for years.

  15. Sounds like something Bioware can do once they add free-roaming space :D. Wouldn't mind having other folks venture onto my ship and vice versa along with seeing ALT characters just hanging around.

Seeing more and more people bringing up Legacy ALTs as companions, even on ships is a nice refreshing idea that should be added.....once you unlock them somehow.

Guild station warzones? Sounds like fun and should be done.

Yea :) and let us choose if our ship can be accessed or not and we can customize it like housing....look at runes of magic for ideas....then a seperate area for the guild starship...and we can fight to and from it. be invaded/boarded...etc.

  16. there could be 200 people in fleet that is still almost no one IMO.

if the game was healthy I would expect about 500 people.

500 in prime time is low....healthy would be about 1000 min on each fleet with 2-3 phases maxed in ilum.....and others scattered around the planets....the game on most servers cant break 2000 combined total....dead game,,,it SUCKS becasue we all wanted a success but EA pushed the release to meet a date rather than completion.

  17. I have been reading this forum since day 1 whenever I am not in game, to keep up with whats going on.

And week after week, and day after day there is another person like yourself going "WAAAH this game is not what I want, I am unsubbing!"

    or

"Bioware what are you doing? This game is bleed subs like crazy"

    or

"OMG my server is sooo empty and no one plays anymore, is this game dead?"

    ----

The reality is, this game has consistently had 1.7 mill subs since day 1, with over 2 mill in sales...

If you play in game, everyone is enjoying themselves... and the only place you see this doom and gloom is on the forums where all the trolls feed.

Is this game for everyone? No of course not, but this game is exactly what Bioware advertised it as. And most people who are disappointed did not do their homework before wasting mommy and daddies paycheck.

this was true until the 60 day time cards ran out this last week, then numbers fell drasticly...people chose not to resub.... main reasons are delays in updates and fail end game system....class quests still bugged (main quest lines)

Sad but ...its dead...hopefully it gets fixed becasue we all wanted a success here...after all its motha freakin star wars !
