To be more specific, its the speed of the hard drive. Slow/Old/Laptop hard drives will load textures considerably slower than SSD/SATA3 hard drives will.
If your computer is taking a minute+ to load Corellia, you have a problem, or a slow disk.
There are several planets that have a large amount of textures to load. The time it takes to load these textures into memory is totally based upon the speed of your computer.
So the problem is actually you....

If you know how to burn an ISO, I would run a few passes with memtest86. Its free.

Boot your computer to that iso, and let it run. If it pops errors, then you have a problem...
Sorry if this is a stupid question... I am about to run my guild through EV tonight, and I have no clue how to select the different modes. Is it based upon a quest? How do I verify that we are attempting Normal Mode?
Thanks,

All data sent from the servers to your client is encrypted, and based upon your session with the server. You would need an exposed API (Web Service/etc) to access such information, and that just doesn't exist. There is no way to "sniff" the traffic to get server information.

I like it when the friends list is account based. Its not like people can "see" your "hidden" characters if you decide to make a hidden alt. The buddy list just lets you see characters that *you* know about.
I played SWG and hated the buddy list system. I also played LOTRO and loved it there (linked to the account).
