  1. Hey, I'm sold and you're right. Part of my unsaid reasoning for credit deletion, likely came from unknowns on certain issues, in which I was making assumptions. How long will this game be around? Assuming not too awfully long: What is development actually willing to do? What's a quick fix? Massive credit removal sounds reasonable (to me) assuming this game may not be around long and that it's easy to implement and the effects may last for a year(?). Good enough. However, the approach to fix the cause and not the symptom is definitely a better idea. Of course maybe this game will be around fro 5+ more years...and hopefully it is.
  2. I won't disagree with you there. It very well may be a better idea to have more (or more substantial) credit sinks. Give everyone a "choice". Really anything that gets credits out of the game at a reasonable rate would work. The only issue in my mind, would be that the player base outrage would parallel the outrage of credit deletion...because those credit sinks would have to be extremely intense to make a difference. Fundamentally speaking, there is little difference between credit sinks and credit deletion. Only in the players mind. Both ways get credits out of the economy. Should we rip the bandaid off quickly, or do we pull it slowly?
  3. I get that as well as anyone. I've been here since before day one and never exploited or duped anything ever. My credits have been made grinding the GTN and crafting. More crafting in the early days, not so much so the past few years...it's mostly been playing the GTN. With that said, I have as much to lose as anyone if this is implemented and I still think it's a good idea. I think it would take years for the prices to reach current pricing, if 90% of credits were deleted. But you are right, eventually we would be back in the same boat. This has NOTHING to do for giving hand outs to new players. I agree they do need to work for it, I'm arguing that for a new player that knows nothing of this game's economy, current pricing seems out of reach. It's easy for us because we are familiar with how things work due to being involved for the better part of the past decade. For a new player it seems unreasonably daunting and that's not a good thing.
  4. No, I don't think that 90% of credits have been exploited. I have no real numbers to back any of this up. There have been some pretty massive exploits in the past and no one save BioWare really has any idea of how deep that actually goes...and likely not even they know exactly. Even if there weren't any credits exploited, a game like this manufactures currency on demand (as in quest rewards)...there is no pre set amount in the economy. In most economies in the real world, there is a set amount of currency and IF they print more currency you get inflation and the cost of any given unit of currency is worth less. The economy in this game works no differently. With currency in this game and the way it is given out of thin air, it's already doomed to have serious inflation from the get go and action is needed by the developers to prevent inflation. The exploits and duping have caused the process of inflation to speed up exponentially, making things even worse than they should be. Exploits or no exploits, it would be healthy for the overall game economy to delete a LOT of credits.
  5. I see...you think I am accusing you of duping or exploiting credits. That is not the case at all. However, with the exploiting being so prevalent and widespread, do you not think that at least some of the credits that you earned, originated from someone who did exploit to get credits? That's my point. Even if you did nothing wrong, you are still affected as are we all.
  6. It's fair only because there are a lot of duped credits out there and you shouldn't have that much in the first place. Not just you specifically, everyone. Would it be fair or even feasible to do this on a case by case basis? I get what your saying, but try to earn 100 million credits doing heroics. I mean it may be possible, but my bet is at the end of that you'd be rocking back and forth in a corner, naked, sucking your thumb.
  7. You could absolutely do whatever you wanted to do. I don't know what you sell, so maybe what you do sell is already low enough that it wouldn't affect you. Believe you me, if 90% of players credits went bye-bye, GTN costs would reduce 90% roughly. Maybe more so on the current high value 100 mill plus items. Things like low grade mats and item modifications wouldn't be affected too much I wouldn't think...I could be wrong. You've said it isn't fair a couple times now if I remember correctly, why isn't it fair? I feel like your not getting what I'm trying to say. At least tell me that you understand that if you wipe out 90% of all player credits, the value of each credit will be worth significantly more than it currently is. If your 1 billion becomes 100 million and so does everyone else's...then your 100 million can purchase the same amount of items that your 1 billion previously could purchase. There will be some fluctuations to that of course and I'm speaking generally. If you understand that, how could you say it's not fair? TBH with everyone who disagrees with me, which is fine, this will NEVER get implemented anyways. Doesn't mean it is a bad idea.
  8. I didn't see this till after my last post, so I rescind that last part about not seeing a decent rebuttal. My argument is not against heroics or anything like that. It's not unusual for a player to make a million a day on heroics. The economy will always inflate at a certain rate in this game, but there has been some dupes and exploits in the past that I think are far more severe than a lot of players realize, which has thrown everything out of whack at a much faster pace than it should have happened.
  9. Well, my projections of longevity are based solely upon how efficient BioWare is at quashing these things (duping/exploiting) in the first place...of which they haven't done a stellar job in the past, so not long unless changes occur. What would happen to the GTN either nothing or everyone would pull their auctions until the change. It wouldn't matter. The items listed for 100 million credits wouldn't get bought and the auctions would expire. I'm not too sure what you mean by the "greed motivation". I'm simply saying that exploiting and duping has inflated the value of credits. I do remember saying that I expected push back on this due to peoples' greed. TBH, I can't be arsed with going back and reading what I wrote. As far as buyers vs. sellers...well let's say the "buyers" sold a ton of stuff they had. Maybe they earned a billion credits today. Well then when this hypothetical change would occur then they would have 100 million credits. The costs would go down on everything on the GTN. If you are a seller, it's the same scenario...even though you have 90% less credits, the cost of EACH CREDIT will rise. I fail to see how that would hurt anyone, as I have tried to explain, the value of each single credit has been inflated. By taking away a decimal point, you are deflating the entire economy and the value of each single credit skyrockets. Things on the GTN being sold for 100 million credits, will suddenly be sold for no more than 10 million credits. Who is losing out here? I feel like these are pretty easy concepts to grasp. Maybe I fail at explaining things... Feel free to agree with me or not...sometimes I don't even agree with myself. However, I've yet to see any semblance a rational argument of why this would be bad.
  10. I am assuming all current players have accrued their credits in a legit way. It would be unfair only if it didn't happen to EVERYONE...and it should happen to everyone. It's also, not a punishment but I am less than surprised that people feel that it is. Nightlife pulls credits out of the game, sure. However, it's not enough to even notice a price difference on the GTN while the event is going on. If it pulled as many credits out of this game that need to come out, you would see prices drop. It's smoke and mirrors. Sigh. If you take away 90% of players credits by dropping a decimal point, then each credit everyone owns is now worth 9 times more than it was. Nobody is losing ANYTHING except an imaginary number. I'm not saying imaginary because this is a video game. I am saying it's imaginary because the value of each inflated credit is less than the value of a credit in a game where this is implemented. The benefits to this would be especially noticeable for the newer players. Currently, they level up and have less than a million credits and look at GTN prices and are likely overwhelmed a bit. Those credits for new players would now be worth more than they are currently and the health (population even) of the game is likely to be in a better state. Well...that's actually conjecture...but I don't think I'm too far off base.
  11. Well it's not like I have any power to do anything about it...and this thread probably isn't the best place for this discussion if my intent were to rally the troops. I will disagree with you to a point...and I am not surprised in the least that there is push back on this. Those credits that everyone has weren't earned...everything was inflated by a certain well known exploit where trillions of credits, if not more, were duped into the game's economy. The best answer would have been a rollback when it happened...we are well passed that point now. I really don't see a downside to what I proposed. I haven't even brought up the point about the negative effect it would have on credit farmers.
  12. I think that's being over dramatic a bit. But yes, I'm serious. Everyone still has their slice of the pie, percentage wise compared to other players. Regarding the newish player you are describing, do you think that when he sees a 50 mill price tag on the GTN, that that players level of intimidation has less effect than missing 1500 credits. Which is why I think this is a good idea. It will prevent new players from being overwhelmed by the cost of goods on the GTN. With some rare exceptions there are very few expensive items outside the GTN. This really isn't a bad idea, if it weren't for people not being able to see past their own selfish desires. Such as the amount of credits they have. Costs would crash down and new players would be able to afford a greater amount of items than they currently have the ability to do.
  13. Keep all rewards the same as they are now, keep all repair costs the same, all training costs the same etc etc. However, take a decimal point off currency of every character/account in game. So if you had 1,000,000,000 credits before, now you have 100,000,000. If you had 1,000,000 now you have 100,000. So on and so forth. Everyone would have the same percentage of credits relative to everyone else and these ridiculous costs of gear and mats on the GTN would be forced to go down, because you couldn't buy a lightsaber for 150,000,000 credits. And even in the off chance you could, you probably wouldn't. Inflation problem solved. Now all they have to do is be more proactive fixing exploits to keep from being in the same boat in 6 months.
  14. HoloTweed is on a mission to make sure the rest of use are not lazy...and he has no issue making 3 posts in this thread alone to make sure everyone knows he doesn't take any flak from slackers! I'd like to personally thank him for keeping us all in line, because forum laziness is the root of all evil.
  15. As I read through this thread, I can't help but to notice the circular motion of all the various conversations and responses. What I've gathered so far after 12 pages: 1) There is smack talking in ranked and some players need a thicker skin. 2) There is rampant toxicity in ranked and it keeps some players from playing ranked. I think both of these statements are probably true, to a large extent. Some people need to man up and some people need to shut up. That's about the sum of it, right? I'm not one to condone toxicity and I think most smack talking would be better unsaid in the first place. I mean this is an MMO and (apologies in advance for the generalization) it really is a magnet for people with social issues*, so attacking those people in a negative way or being toxic is only going to hinder overall participation because of those very same social issues. *no, not every one who plays MMOs has social issues. **Or maybe they do.
  16. This is, by far the most insightful post in this thread. QFE.
  17. Just a question, not a critique per say. Doesn't Plasma Brand reset the cool down on Blade Barrage? (It's been a long time since I looked at the utilities, so maybe I'm just spec'd for that). If that is the case, would it be better to open with Blade Barrage since it will be available again as soon as you use Plasma Brand? Or at least anytime before you use the first Plasma Brand.
  18. Maybe. But using vote kick only requires one person on the team to feel the same as me. Your way requires everyone on your team to feel the same way as you. How about just being a decent human being with a bit of maturity sprinkled in, junior. This is a game. I promise there won't ever be a MLG event for swtor 4v4, so your e-fame won't take too big a of a hit if you lose a ranked match. There is never a really good reason for toxicity. Ignoring it is the best recourse.
  19. OP: Just ignore the naysayers and keep playing in ranked, if that's what you want to do. Ranked PvP is for whomever plays this game. Since the OP is posting it means he is a subscriber so he most assuredly has every right to play in ranked. You have every right to try to convince people otherwise, but no way to enforce it. Not to mention, serious PvP and swtor in the same sentence is laughable. If people want ranked to prosper in this game, then it would be advantageous to not only welcome, but to help the occasional noob who starts participating in ranked.
  20. Just re-subbed after taking a few years off ( had 1k+ days old in game mails). I was around when they did the first server merges and PotF is where I'm at now...2 hour queue pops are not what I re-subbed for. I have enough CC left over to transfer any toons that mean anything to me. I'm looking to transfer to a server that has a good mix of PvE and PvP. None of the PvP servers look like they are doing well, so I suppose that's out (open world never amounted to much in this game anyway). I'm not really into RP, but it doesn't bother me either. I'd prefer to stay East Coast, but I'm pretty much open to anything. What I'm looking for MOST is a healthy population of players. Any suggestions?
  21. Darth Famine 8/10. It just kinda hits the star warzy feel on the head.. My Marauder: Cruentis, which is latin for stained in blood/covered in blood. :
  22. Trying to get in contact with him/her. If anyone knows Lokk, or how to reach him/her, please let me know. Thanks in advance! IGN: Psychophant
  23. I just came back a few weeks ago, after taking a long hiatus. Last time I played we were having to roll for PvP gear in bags...centurion, champion, battlemaster etc. Anyways, I'm up to almost full BM gear with a couple mix matched pieces of recruit gear/ champion gear (can you beleive that recruit gear has more expertise than champion and I have the BM relics!?). I'm at 1152 expertise. I don't do bad in warzones, I'm usually in around 200k dmg, always solo q-ing, unless my team just gets torn apart. Could be higher, but I find myself without much healing or prot. support in pugs and I'm usually more focused on stunning or kamikazee play to just to keep nodes/doors from being capped. TBQH, I'm sick of losing half of the matches I'm queing up for and I'm just looking to join a stable group of players (preferably somewhat mature) that are focused on team play, winning and trying to better themselves strategically....and even doing RWZs. EDIT: My play times are usually around 7pm-11pm Eastern Time. Sometimes earlier depending on work schedule.
  24. regarding your lvl 30, I would just buy WZ medpacks and WZ adrenals till you hit 40 then max out your ranked comms, then go back to buying up meds and adrenals. Once you hit lvl 50 you will not want to spend any coms on anything but gear, if you can help it. You will go through medpacks and adrenals faster than you realize. You can never have too many when your grinding for gear.
