  1. Have several different ones. Top 3 must be, in no particular order 1, When we first 4 manned EV SM at few months back, we had a blast in voice chat. 2, When we 8 manned EV SM 16 man a few months back, if we had a blast with the 4 man, the 8 man was EPIC 3, when we 11 manned TFB 16 man SM the other day (2 tanks, 2 healers and the rest dps). One shot of everything till TFB itself. there **** went abit iffy, and ended up with a tank down. So in the end i tanked TFB in second phase on my sorc healer (Static and force barrier FTW). with a little taunting magic and threatdumps from surviving tank, it worked
  2. Id probably go with a normal ops setup. Or maybe only have 1 healer
  3. tbh, i think some of the problem lie in the fact that there are so much burst dmg going around with the mitigation of tanks shot to hell. Sorcs never was a good burst healer, more a sustained over time kinda healer. I noticed that when i did Hammer station with one of me guild sin tanks, at certain points during the bonus boss i had some issues keeping him up, due to that godforsaken stun and the burst output of that frog (however, these issues were lessened when i ran with our jugger tank). Granted , quite a few of these near death experience our tank experienced were due to me being abit careless and thus kinda sloppy, but sorcs can hold their own. Take operator on TFB for example. In the second phase you as a sorc can keep your raid up by yourself for a remarkably long time (although, my skills as a healer isnt pro enough to actually do that phase solo healing, poor sods were dropping like flies after a min or two of solo healing (other healer got killed)) Something that can be said however, that the sorc gear you can buy from the vendor are truly ****, so without itemization sorcs blows (granted, same is true with all the classes but my personal experience with the sorc compared to me commando is that it hits sorcs harder) Also, for reference. tanks im speaking about are in a mix of BM arkanian and underworld, almost fully itemized. My sorc are of the same mix
  4. id say that sorc healers arnt broken, they do require a different approach than the other healers. Quite simply due to the fact that their squishy. If you learn to work around that issue (static barrier ftw) the issues lessen somewhat. In terms of healing output, sorc have been constantly highest pre 2.0 (if you dont believe me have a peek at askmrrobots ranked logs) and honestly. They healing buffs they received in 2.0 was rather mental. In terms of numbers, in PvE content I've increase my heals on avg by 700+ HPS per bossfight (on some even more) and in 16 man content a sorc healer is a must. That being said, in flashpoints they have some issues due to the fact that sorcs really arnt the best suited for single target healing. Mercs are quite good at tank healing and synergy, operatives have really high burst healing, whereas a sorc are the raid healer of choice. Revification is invaluable in 16 man content (and crazy useful in 8 man aswell) So no, sorcs arnt broken imho.
  5. No its not. if the boss is on CD the stone shouldn't be there in the first place, Not being able to click it sounds like its a bug of sorts. Did you try to chance instance and try it there. or having someone else try to click it?
  6. What i find really interesting in this thread is that so many fail to realize the difference between taking point and being the leader. Yes the tank are expected to set the pace and when to pull and ****. that does NOT make them the leader, that makes them the one people expect to take point. Being a leader is SO much more than having the "title" of leader in ops or fp or whatnot (which, lets face it, means absolutely NOTHING unless its content that's actually require a leader). Being the leader in a Pug HMFP would mean knowing the tactics, assigning cc when needed and stuff like that. Do the tank need to do that? no, they really don't. Anyone with the knowhow can do that. I usually take leadership when im doing hmfp and pug ops. Why? is it because im a tank? No. my main class is not a tank. I take leadership when its required, because i know the tactics, and i know how to explain then and i know my classes and whats expected of all the roles in the op, in short, i know how to lead (being as leader is more than what i just stated, but for the purpose of this discussion it will have to due). In ops. just because your a tank, does that require you to be leader? No it does not. Do the tank need to know tactics for the ops? Well yes, its practical, but not strictly necessarily, as long as someone know the relevant tactics and are able to explain them (this would be the case for all classes). So who gets to be lead? In guild group, thats a given. The ops leader is the one appointed by the guildmaster (that hopefully is the one most suited for it) be it healer, tank or dps. what about Pug groups? again, its the one most suited for the task. So is the tank the automatic leader? NO they are not. I repeat, its the one most suited for the task that should be leader. The tank may be that one. but it may very well be someone else. Please realize the difference between taking point and leading. So for the question of Ready check being useful for tanks or not. A ready check can be initiated by the one that have lead (and in the case of ops, also the ones that have assistant lead). For tanks to get this ability by default (like some have suggested) is downright stupid. Not to mention arrogant, because that tell us that the people suggest that draw the conclusion they are most suited to lead BECAUSE they are the tank. As ive argued above, I think thats stupid. However, yes it might be a good idea to give every member of a fp group to be able to initiate a ready check, i would not know, since there is not enough for me to draw a conclusion on that question. A personal opinion would however say that the risk of abuse far outweigh the potential gain. Also, i would like to state. Being able to use a ready check also does NOT make you the leader, it just make you able to use a command that, when abused, will endlessly annoy quite a few people, me included.
  7. As stated by the above post, having a tank really helps. And as a tank, i kinda like having a sage/sorc with me, that aoe heal is really quite practical to have around
  8. thought as much, although we did run with 8, recon we also could do with 5. bosses really arnt that hard. but the trash, dear lord the trash
  9. I disagree. Yes, as a full dread guard slinger, if you pull something, you will most likely kill it before it reach you. problem is still the fact you pull it in the first place. As a healer, the more the tank tanks instead of dps. the happier i am. As a DPS, the more the tanks tank instead of me. the happier i am (cos lets face it, i am quite low on the healing prio list when **** hits the fan). As a tank, the more i tank instead of others, the happier i am, since im actually doing my job. While some say that dps pull mainly due to them attacking other targets than the target the tank is tanking, thats their problem. I do that myself, for 2 reasons, either The tank is not doing his job, and **** hit the healer, or i use an aoe. And in regards to aoe. I know that it's dangerous to use em in combat since im giving the tank more to do, but lets face it, its an aoe attack for a reason, if i use it recklessly, its my problem, if i get aggro for using them when im supposed to, its the tanks. You would say a guard helps here? Guess again. If the tanks do the pull as is custom, they will gain initial aggro, if they follow up on that , happy days. If they don't any form of guard wont help. guard or not, **** will still go for the healer, and some dps have the foresight to compensate by attacking the stuff hitting the healer. same thing with the taunt multiplier, 130% (not sure bout the exact number) that the taunt multiply with help heaps when tanking. but keep in mind, 130% of nothing is still nothing. However, if we take bossfights in consideration then the guard should always go to the one most likely to pull of the tank , and it aint gonna be the healer. There is only 1 time ive ever tanked a boss as a healer. that was when me and the tank messed about and intentionally had me tank it (that fact that the dpser's didnt pull off me is nothing short of tragic, but that is another story). the times i've seen **** tanks lose aggro and not get it back however are quite numerous. There are times where ive seen people wait for ages before engaging a boss and still rip aggro off the tank, and while a good geared dps most likely wont have any issues surviving that if they have a healer who knows what they are doing, fact of the matter is still this: id much prefer to heal the tank over the dps, for the tank take less dmg. For all you tanks out there who complain about dpsers ripping aggro off you. Trust me when i say, you can successfully tank almost any mob, regardless of your current gear level, against any type of dps, regardless of how high it is, if you know what you are doing, ie if you guard the dps that might pull off you, if your gear is bad compared to theirs, weave taunts into your rotation (though that helps for all tanks). In short, read up on how threat in this game works (this can be said to all those who havent) for "having tanked for x years in WoW" really is the WORST argument ever
  10. Hmm, seems like i should read abit more codex. But that really messed up. I was light V when i completed my story. still got darth nox
  11. Funny that, i personally think its ruddy brilliant. Granted, it does cost resources, which makes it cumbersome to use. The perk of it however is the fact that if you use that thread dump and still have aggro, taking dmg will reduce it further. however, the best thing about it is the fact that its actually useful outside of a PvE environment, as its use in PvP is really quite nice.
  12. My highest heal in a real operation environment was 8300-ish with dark infusion, not sure what was popped during that time, saw it in my log. My highest heal ever done though was 11.3 k on dark infusion on a friend of mine during an experiment. That one was however done just for giggles, and was made with a dread guard relic, an exotech adrenal, with bloodthrist, on a operative specced in to max healing recived with shield probe active (so abit cheat i admit ) have been thinking about doing the same experiment with a merc specced with the healing received from the shield, just for giggles
  13. On mine jugger I only have had a look when doing sm ops in hybrid tank spec. during those ive been doing around 550-600 dps on my optimised (balanced between mitigation and endurance) jugg tank
