  1. I have a policy to not try and copy other's names. I have many other names I can use. More impressed that someone appears to have the same thought process as me (oh dear god, you're all dooooomed ). I also have a policy of never using ASCII-derived letter even if they are the correct spelling (ie Cafe and resume should be spelled with an " é " for the second 'e'). This is just a courtesy I extend to people who may not know the ALT codes or care to look them up. --- PS: For those who may not read the entire thing. Originally, the names were "Invalid" (bug or violated the Naming Policy) but now say "Unavailable" (taken by another player).
  2. Dear god...why. Why is this so hard to understand. MY NAME WAS TAKEN AWAY, possibly because of a bug, and I want it back. Or an explanation as to why it suddenly after six years violates the name policy. EDIT: LOL, and now the name is marked as "Unavailable" funny, it use to be "Invalid". ((Sigh, fine....I'll just use one of the other names I have stashed away. Still irksome, but meh.))
  3. Typically, naming policies don't allow for 'special characters', which would include dashes. And my names weren't part of anything even remotely close to Star Wars (names, places, etc). Obviously, it wouldn't have contained any 'special characters' (including apostrophes) or non-standard letters (ie: " ò " instead of " o ").
  4. What if you can't use the character name you want...you know like the one you had since the F-ing beta. Because the system says it's invalid. And then CS responds thanking you for your SUGGESTION. Even though you picked "Character/Companion" and specifically state you want to know why your character name is now "unfit".
  5. Actually, they had the plan to do a LFG Tool all along, just like RIFT had it all along. It's a classic way to dupe the masses into thinking they're getting a "better product". First you come up with the product and all these nice features. Then you strip out features that are either: a) taking to long to "work out" b) may cause customer backlash After you market your fancy new product you 'get a feel' for what the customer base wants and presto! You roll out this "New and Improved" Product X. I, for one, think they should drop just about everything and get this in place...SWTOR is quickly becoming boring. Our own "LFG Channel" (The Fatman server) we decided to make isn't seeing much action. And by that I mean General and "LFG" is pretty much devoid of "LFG/LFM". And this is with about ~120 in Fleet, which is about average for 'Prime Time'. The only real question is should the LFG Tool reward people for using it like WoW and RIFT do. There should be some kind of 'physical' (in-game) reward. WoW had a LFG Tool and rarely was it used; no incentive to. After it became rewarding you had pre-formed groups using it just to get the reward...some of those groups only had 3 guildmates/friend so 2 randoms got to go //BTW I find it laughable that people hate LFG Tools yet continue to "Queue Solo". What the hell do you think the WZ System runs on...A LFG TOOL
  6. Bored Having more fun leveling my Overlord in Lineage II than leveling my Guardian the remaining 8 levels.
  7. Ya, I mean I shouldn't be irritated that a quest isn't completing even when the objectives are met....how crazy is it to expect that from a non-Indie company
  8. Just came from a Huttball match with Rep vs Imps We (Reps) won 5 to 0 So, when are you (Bioware) going to really fix the 'PVP Daily Bug'?
  9. If the game is fun through out; then yes character progression can be slow. There needs to be a balance. Right now my highest character is 40, I dislike the questing beyond Class Quest because all it is is FedEx, Farmer John, Defend the Castle, or The Bodyguard quests; DO NOT WANT. So I've been doing FPs (when I can get a group), Space Missions, and PVP. At this point I just want to get to 50 and do something else. I'd love it if we could convert Rest XP to Actual XP at say a 2:1 (Rest : Actual) ratio TL;DR: LEVELING ISN'T FUN; it's a choir.
  10. That's why I used the trends, I know it's going to be higher during non-work days. And you can see it in the trend. Every weekend it's much higher, but...with each passing weekEND the peak is less (used a ruler/straight edge). So, where are the people going then? Each weekend there's less of of a peak than the last weekend's peak. Now this is just for: The Fatman (US) So I do not pretend to say it applies to all servers.
  11. HOW DARE YOU INSULT THE BANANAMAN SUIT! (T1 Paladin set)
  12. Well, I suppose they could put it like: Playing / Maximum Players; updated every 30min (staggered by 10min to prevent cluster f***). That way "Low", "Standard", "Heavy", "Full" are at least put into perspective. If this had been done before the cap increase people could see for a fact if the game was suffering population loss. Plus, it would deter them from being ******s and changing the plateaus. I know some games that did that to make it look like more people were playing. If anyone's not familiar with what I mean. Say: 250 = Light 500 = Standard 750 = Heavy 1000 = Full They then skew it so 50 = Light 70 = Standard 100 = Heavy 1000 = Full This is the primary reason they never tell you what the words relate to in numbers. And all games that have server status like SWTOR do this, and have since 'Server Status' history. Still leaves the fact that some servers are in fact dead now. Either because people realized they rolled on the wrong server for [insert RP, PVE, PVP] and have since re-rolled on another. In any case, I'll give it 5 more months, bring it to 6months total before I decide to cancel my sub or not; less if things go South quickly. EDIT: @Wizzrobe That server doesn't exist in either the US or EU. Click on the english button if your using the non-english site.
  13. Feels pretty empty, 'cept for Fleet. Right now we got 54 in here (Fleet) and should have ~120+ by tonight. This also: http://www.torstatus.net/the-fatman/history/7d#!/the-fatman/trends/30d Now the fact they increased server capacity explains away the "Full", but notice that "Heavy" is incrementally going down when looking at only the weekends, got a straight-edge out just to double check. Really wish they had done pure-instancing (STO model) and not used a multi-zone-multi-server model. Then you don't have to merge or offer transfers. Players will just go to the instance that has the most people in it (until cap is reached). The game's beginning to feel like Blasted Lands, Swamp of Sorrows, and the like....empty
  14. http://www.torstatus.net/the-fatman/history/7d#!/the-fatman/history/30d Ah, this explains much EDIT: Do please note that even on the weekends it's no longer as high as it was the first few days.
  15. I do find this funny. "THE GAME IS NOT DIEING!" Where I have seen that before....oh yes: LoTRO (before it went free2play) WAR Lineage II (before it went free2play; US-side) STO (before it went free2play) AoC (before it went free2play) RIFT* DCU (before it went free2play) EQ2 (before it went free2play) *You think they need that many "trial servers"...lol, skillfully hidden server mergers. Seeing a pattern? Get heads out of arse. Just because you think the game is doing fine doesn't mean it is. Hopefully, ME3 won't be a let down too :\
  16. Count me among the "Cover Stuck"; <insert exlicit language> game. This is beginning to become one the worst POS game I have ever played. How many patches have we had? AND STILL I'M GETTING STUCK. Stop coming out with new content and FIX THE PRESENT CONTENT I would have written a nicer post but seeing as my Quick Travel has 15min left on it... Pro-tip: Until you figure out, <insert rude comment>, maybe you should make /stuck teleport you to the nearest Medical Droid. What's that you say? It could be exploited to travel around quickly? Then how about we just unsub until the game is in a 'workable' state. Oh wait, it would go the way of Tabula Rasa. EDIT: And now I'm stuck in the same gosh darn container by talking to Syreena just before talking to Viidu during 'Security Breach'. ...and 26min on Quick Travel. Bioware, how long are we going to pay for beta?
  17. [sarcasm] Yes, dual spec is such a terrible idea. I mean all these groups looking for a tank for a Taral V and Maelstrom should totally suffer because I don't have the creds to respec to tank and back to dps every day. [/sarcasm] That's okay, I'll spend my time playing PVP; and when 'you' sit in General spamming "LFM: TANK for <insert instance> then good to go, pst" I'll remind you that I could tank, but don't feel it worthwhile to dump (atm) 21k to respec to Tank for a ~45min Flashpoint and then, what, ~30k-ish to go back to DPS. So yes, have your hard game of "LFM/LFG" EDIT: Oh look another "LFM: Tank, g2g" oooh well.
  18. Actually, it sort of does. As 32bit is limited to 2GB, unless LAA is flagged; then it's 4GB, and after about 2hrs of SITTING IN REPUBLIC FLEET I'm up to about 1.5GB of memory in use by one of the SWTOR EXEs. And this is with our 'so-called' High graphics, which are really medium. Question is was that the issue they refer to as "to make the game run smoother". Perhaps with true-High the memory usage exceeded 2GB to quickly and caused the client to CTD. Now this could be easily fixed if they flagged LAA like Bethsda did for Skyrim (finally!). But for some reason companies still refuse to flag it.
  19. while they (Programmers) 'usually' don't do VO. Their budge is still linked to the VO. As the entire project (aka the Game) shares a Master Budget; in this case the game's budget was apparently around $200 Million. As for 32bit client they have to until XP is gone like Windows 3.1. Even though there's a 64-bit XP, most people got the 32-bit version. And have failed to upgrade since then. Now they did manage to jury-rig around it by creating two EXEs. I assume the larger one houses the graphics and the smaller one does the processing.
  20. Budget miss-allocation. I would have only had VO for Class Quests. The money saved by not doing full VO, which I might add is now most 'spacebar-ed' through (especially group quests), would have paid for a much larger development team. FYI: being the "Largest Entertainment Voice Over Project Ever" isn't cheap.
  21. Serious note, check Task Manager and see how much one of the 'swtor.exe' is using. I find that around the 1.8GB mark SWTOR will crash out. FYI: SWTOR uses two identical EXEs (swtor.exe). Probably to get around the fact that it's a 32-bit program and is therefore limited to ~2GB of memory unless Large Address Aware is flagged as true. Then it's ~4GB, which is the full amount that a 32bit program can address. I'm not familiar enough to know why a 32bit program is limited to just 2GB...and I don't care to go researching why it's only able to use half the amount it could use. But for me it's usually swtor.exe 1.8GB swtor.exe ~400MB ->Crash When I start back up swtor.exe ~1.2GB swtor.exe ~300MB ->Slowly builds as I stay in the world; even if I just sit at the Galatic Trade all day...memory leaks, I so love you. //EDIT I should note that I have dual monitor so I have Task Manager open on the auxiliary monitor; so that's how I know when it crashes. At about 1.5GB I exit out and restart; seems to work.
  22. -Customizable UI: Missing -Decent Default UI*: Missing -Zone Events (a la Rifts/Public Quests): Missing -Decent Graphics**: Missing -Fun PVP***: Missing -Functional Classes****: Missing -Macros*****: Missing *Voidstar's "map" overlaps the first 3 action slots on the right action bar. Chat frame partially covers the first action slot on the left action bar in it's default sizing; this is at 1680x1050 **Why am I playing WoW 2.0? I was expecting RIFT-grade graphics and what I get is WoW's with a little higher resolution on the textures ***In no way is it fun to be roflstomped by geared 50s as a lvl 32,31,21 (my current levels) ****WHY THE HELL IS EVERYTHING AN ACTIVE ABILITY...I had to go get a 13mouse button because I ran out of keybinds. This is more of a personal preference, so please don't put to much weight on this *****Go look at the SWTOR Keyboard, it'll let you macro stuff; so don't go "OMG, BIOWARE DOESN'T WANT YOU TO EZ-MODE IT" I have to keep my Relics on a keybind because I can't macro a "/cast Relic #1/#2 /cast Ability". // Dude, I loved WF procs off WF
  23. autorun off platform; die; repeat Game can't tell the difference. And if they did somehow code it to do that all I'll do is "pause" my cable modem and force a DC.
  24. Well, they are kind of changing the entire pvp system. I don't think they intended to have brackets. If they did they would have had brackets at launch but had them turned off until enough players were level 50 to make for reasonable WZ queues. Then, say, week and half ago enabled them in a...well...not really a hotfix but you get the idea. What they do need to do is give each ability a "PVP Version". Resilence was invented to "fix" rogues one-shotting clothes. But when Resilence met plate armor; plate wears become immortal-ish. Same thing has happened in SWTOR. So unless they make it so Armor does NOTHING in PvP and Expertise then becomes "PVP Armor" that will remain "broken". As for PVP in general. I was looking forward to maybe a dash of Mythic-PVP in SWTOR (RvR Lakes), but I have yet to find any...I guess Illum is RvR-ish? (not been there, but it sounds like it's non-instanced). Seriously, it's like Bioware did a CTRL-C, CTRL-V on WoW's PVP....it's horrible. And I'm not even looking at the bugs or imbalances (Alderaan Civil War turrets pointed at Republic at start). Civil War -> Arathi Basin Huttball -> Warsong Gultch Voidstar -> Strand of the Ancients Illum -> never participated in it; can't comment From what I saw WAR's PVP was generally well liked. And I'm talking the actual PVP System. So why it wasn't used in SWTOR I'd really like to know If I wanted WoW PVP; I'D BE PLAYING WoW!
  25. To defend your quotee. Tanking is pretty F-ed up in this game. This is the first game where tanking actually required you to spend MOST of your points NOT in the tank tree (Guardians*). I was dying a lot going full Defense Tree in both PVP and PVE, but after a little research it seems I should be going most Vigilance with just enough in Defense to get Shield Spec** *My Vanguard and Shadow aren't up and running yet; so can't comment on those trees **http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#500f0GzuMzZhGrMMhzzM.1 So far with that build I'm doing quite nicely; and getting better as I level (atm lvl 31) in terms of Threat and Survivability. ...do miss my Zealous Leap though How is this not World of Warcraft with Star Wars Theme enabled Wait, you're right I haven't been asked to pick through poo
