  1. Well this has been some interesting feedback. I'll probably log on sometime past the wee hours of the morning (3:06am at the moment). I'll see what can be done about this spec. Thanks for the comments will see you tomorrow
  2. So... at this current moment it's literally all gear based? Well geez, I'm practically screwed then! I don't have the time to sit up and grind out mods/enhancements and at this given point, it looks like my spec is pretty much getting worse. The only solution I see is "switch to Assault or be terrible." As far as I can tell, I'm practically just waiting an inevitable doom unless BW decides to change the huge nerf to Tactics in 2.0.
  3. Augment wise I'm using 3/4 Aim Augments 18 aim/12 end (I actually need the crit and with the perk for 9% AIM added from my skill tree it literally makes maybe 1-2 points of power that I'm sacrificing for additional crit). The other 1/4 is Surge 18 surge/11 end. Furthermore, in order for me to effectively use Assault, it basically requires me to dump every last piece of gear I have (minus belt/bracers). I literally don't have the time to grind out another set, and with 2.0 nearing it really isn't worth it. In terms of utilizing my spec better, again I've literally tried every last variation of Tactics. I can't actually do much for a team as Tactics, I hit way too low as Assault, and Shield Spec is practically useless given the way shielding works (which is why I quit tanking in the first place). Based on the way this is looking, I'm practically screwed even after 2.0. At this rate, I'm wondering should I actually keep my vanguard or just delete him. I mean for crying out loud, I can out dps my tactics vanguard with my lvl 46 arsenal merc in warzones. I mean seriously, I've hit a max dps of 800k with my merc in Novare Coast. I played an equally long match with my Vanguard and pulled 586k.
  4. I've actually used his spec, which I will admit is pretty darn good, unfortunately it also literally requires you to min/max the hell out of your gear, which I just don't have the time to do. I've literally tried all sorts of specs 1/22/18, 0/23/18, 10/31/0, and various other specs and I'm still pretty darn useless. Even if I go for objectives (which I practically stopped doing because its almost the equivalent of me shooting spitballs at a guy carrying a nuke), 9/10 I die, can't put down a healer, can't distract, can't hold a node effectively, can't take a node effectively, and generally seem to do more harm than I help. Even in matches like Huttball, where I literally sit at center trying to hold mid, I can't even prevent people from getting the ball. Worse as stated by Shep, when 2.0 hits, the mobility that this class has (and its one great factor that no one is ever counting on) goes to everyone just leaving me with Pulse Cannon, which people seem to be able to lag out of >.< . Crit is roughly about 27% I've got enough surge to bring me to about 76% Crit multiplier Power should be sitting around 865-871 As for numbers not winning matches, well I only need look at the PvP Records thread (mind you all the high numbers I've seen in the thread are in winning matches) to remind me where that little debate goes. Lastly, as for 2.0, as of yesterday, Tactics/AP got a severe damage reduction, so now it's looking even worse.
  5. Well... about using Assault Spec I guess I should mention I'm terrible at using it. Truth be told, I can't crit for higher than 4.4k which is pretty pathetic. Furthermore, in overall dps, I've out dps'd my Assault damage using Tactics. It also doesn't help that I use Combat Tech as oppose to Eliminator Gear. I've searched through thread after thread, and the only true conclusion I really see anymore just seems to be, "Sorry your spec is just terrible, quit PvP and die, or switch to assault." Is that really what I'm going to have to do? I'm actually being serious, is assault the only viable way to go, or is there some use in playing Tactics anymore? And if I can't play Assault well, should I just re-roll and junk Siricius (since it's obvious as well the my 46 Merc is going to be practically useless in 2.0 as well) And no, I don't want to here that "Well it has utility!" because based on what I can tell from my PvP experience, utility doesn't mean $#!T if the target is still alive.
  6. Hello BC! Some of you know me many of you don't! Anyways, I could really use some PvP advice to improve my 1v1 fights and overall just being a better use to the team (since I'm practically useless as it stands). I will have to say that the only option I currently am unable to do is min/max my gear. Any thoughts, my PvP game is pretty s****y Current build: http://www.swtor-spy.com/skill-tree-calculator/vanguard/24/?build=02300030000000000000000000000203120
  7. Nemesis... well not to be specific I'll just throw out the 61 people who have sent me spiteful PvP messages 42 Republic 19 Imperial And yes that's is 61 individual people, no alts included.
  8. In can be good for aesthetic value Anyways, I notice this happens a lot when I run people through FP's as well. It seems likely that a couple things happen: 1) The player who needs everything does not fully understand game mechanics, specifically for what stats they need (which is at least understandable, but you should probably look into that when you first start playing), 2) Ninja-looting, 3) Possibly trying to get it for guildies in the same group (increase their chances). Of course this does not stop it from being annoying, but this is what I've noticed at least. I would highly recommend, as other suggested, that you give a warning if you are trying to help someone out. If worse comes to worse, re-run the FP. Unfortunately, it happens
  9. I really don't know how to do it, but I'm curious to see some cool screenshots of the TOR universe/ cool things people have done or are doing. It could be a picture of you and your many clones or a bunch of random people crowding around the a spot in HUGE freakin' vehicles. I'm just curious. Oh yeah and how do you screenshot stuff? -Siricius
  10. *Sigh* I just promptly don't partake in the Ilum Event. I really wish we got into a big fight on Quesh, Alderaan, or maybe even the Black Hole. I don't know, something to change up the warfare. As for being brave enough to stand against it, I just don't have enough time, nor do I have the community support to bring war. Well, that and I'm not good at PvP in general. So yeah, I stand corrected
  11. Sponsored by the Republic Army Hey, tired of standing around yelling LFG <insert low-level FP here>? Well I've got a remedy for that!. Saturday from 10:00-11:30pm (provided nothing else is happening), I will be standing around and escorting low-levels through those difficult FPs. If you need it finished for some XP, or just want to find that cool weapon or armor, give me a shout out through mail or contact me on Saturday. Hope to be of service. -Major Siricius, Knights of Tython
  12. Great to know that World PvP requires standing in line. And people wonder why I swore not to return to Ilum
  13. Please be aware there is no bullying going on here I will be near the training dummies in the senate plaza, hopefully, I will be able to be there the full hour. As for who specifically stated that I'm a terrible PvP'r, I refuse at all times to say who those individuals are (on the basis that they are indeed incredible players, who still play today, with the exception of one of them). My goal is simply to see whether I can hold my own against anyone. I highly doubt I will beat anyone. As of now, I have actually lost all 1v1's since launch day so the odds aren't in my favor. I simply just want a rather chill, ego-free environment to test myself and see how bad I actually am. -Siricius
  14. Actually, its more comments on the bad side. For those that do think I'm "good" , well... I think I'll with hold any further posts till Friday.
  15. (Republic Side only) Alright, folks, this Friday from 9:00-10:00pm (EST) I'll be standing around on Coruscant dueling any 50's that feel like fighting me. You will more than likely win even if you are in recruit gear. My goal is simply to see how long I can last against a given player (after all, I've been officially declared as being a bad PvP'r by at least 4 really good PvP'rs). If you think you got what it takes (by literally just mashing buttons you can kill me ) feel free to come out. I may just hand out credits to anyone who does beat me for reminding me of why I'm bad at PvP. - Siricius (and apparently still Huxley to everyone from Lord Ieldis ) P.S. It'll be fun for all!!! And snacks will be provided!!!
  16. Having played on a PvP server myself, I can actually say for a fact that the PvP is roughly about the same at 50 as it is on Begeren Colony. That being said, the main difference is the community. The server I played on had a lot of ego and were a particularly mean community. PvP'ers on this server (even the casual ones that nobody seems to like, such as myself) could actually hold their own on a PvP server. Is it true that you should seek out a PvP server if your main goal is PvP (especially when it comes to guilds)? Probably, but for most of those said guilds that "roll premades all day" they actually aren't on all day and they actually do PvE. For example, ASB runs Ops and they are actually one of the best PvE guilds out there and they are also really good at PvP. While I can agree that it is absurd to see certain people brag about their PvP stats when they play against casual players, let's not forget that a lot of the stats you see on the forums are actually against the really competitive PvP'ers. To say that guilds that are PvP oriented shouldn't be on this server really shows a lack of tolerance to be quite honest. I'll admit that Monoth does have a point by saying most people that are really into PvP should have gone to a PvP server, but I do have to raise the point that most of these said players actually add to the community of Begeren Colony despite their PvP intensity. I'm not hear to start arguments, I just figured I get my two cents out since I count as a solely PvP player (yet at the same time a casual player), who didn't roll a PvP server in order to level in peace. And if it helps at all, I queue solo and in premades of random people that I just happen to shoot invites to. - Worst Player on Server
  17. I'm going to admit it, but I don't see how ranked is enjoyable. To be quite honest, it has never been fun any of the times I've played it. Am I missing something? Maybe its because I'm just a casual noob who isn't too good at pvp, but it just seems to me like it doesn't actually reward well or mean that much. I'm not trying to say that its useless, I just don't get the point of it for most players, yet this is supposedly where you find out whether people are "good" or "bad." Furthermore, if that is true, what's that really saying about the PvP community as a whole? Again, not trying to troll/be offensive/ be a nuisance/etc. but I just don't get the point of Arena/Ranked systems (especially given the high amount of **** talking that I've noticed some people doing ). Maybe its just me, I'm probably ranting... So can someone explain this? - coming from a player that has been told on 8 different occasions "You are terrible at PvP, please quit."
  18. I'm not quite sure for the Imp side, but for the Republic side the community seems good. I don't see a lot of RP happening to be quite honest. While I know that there are groups that do it, the majority of people never actually RP. I know I tend to RP when I'm either in PvP (use to do it a lot when I had my trooper squad for PvP, may they all rest in peace), or when I help lowbies out with Heroics. As for PvP, well... the PvP community seems semi-decent. Personally, I think there is way too much trash-talking and ego, but hey that's just me. There also seems to be a lack of player run events for the community as a whole as well. Most events seem guild coordinated and don't really draw in a bunch of people from various guilds or even non-guilded players. I'd really like to see some more community run events that could be fun.
  19. I'd like to formally say congrats on being different. Most of you probably go unnoticed, but its about time someone says that you guys all rock . This goes out to those using Tactics, Vigilance, Concealment (I think that's the one I've heard Ops complain about), and all of those other "useless" specs out there. It's cool to see people tending away from FOTM specs and using the spec that is not usually played. So this is me telling you all congrats, because most of you go about doing freakin' awesome in warzones and nobody really recognizes you for it. -
  20. Hey folks, I'm Siricius Kaust, or to those who are from Lord Ieldis, I'm Huxley Stormwind (man I miss my name Huxley). Anyways, I'm a Republic Vanguard, one of two Tactics Vanguards to be more specific. I love PvP even though I'm pretty bad at it, and I really like RP'ing, even though I really don't know alot of people that do RP. I even use to RP-PvP in a trooper squad (too bad none of those guys play anymore). My favorite cookie... hmmm now that's a tough one. I'll narrow it down to my top 3: 1. Sugar Cookie 2. The OG chocolate chip cookie 3. Cranberry white chocolate cookies (these things are freakin' awesome!)
  21. Hey folks, I'm looking for a guild that does a lot of PvP and generally doesn't go starting up trouble with other guilds or within the guild. I'm also not partial against random RP either, so if you happen to be an RP-PVP guild I'm game as well. I'm not too good of a PvP'er, but I'm willing to learn and just tag along for fun. If there are any guilds out there that are willing to take me, feel free to leave a post or contact Siricius in-game. I'm usually somewhere on the fleet so feel free to yell at me in general chat as well.

    Ego

I'm very sure I'm about to get yelled at, but I'm just too darn curious at the moment. In regards to PvP (because I don't really like PvE), what's with all the ego out there? I swear I've been hearing more and more people with huge egos lately. No, I'm not going to point out anyone, but it just gets rather annoying when "Everyone on the opposing team sucks!" yet we still lose a match with people who claim to be "pro" on our team. This idea then leads to players starting controversy with each other. Now I'm not saying that a little rivalry is bad, but I've seen people getting seriously mad at others. Another major problem I've noticed, that is somewhat increasing, is bashing newer 50's that pvp. I'll admit, I've done it myself at times, but I've seen some people get super pissed off at some people. If possible, can we try to cut this out and replace it with constructive criticism that could possibly help newer 50's get better at pvp, specifically with team mechanics. If this is offensive to anyone... well, it's the truth. I'm not trying to be mean or pick anyone out, but I'd really like to see a decline in ego.
  23. Alright folks, due to a low number turn out (Roughly about 12 on Republic and 2 on Imperial) this event will be postponed until more numbers can be pulled. To anyone that did show up thank you for showing up -Siricius
  24. Hey if you want to donate medpacs/adrenals feel free to send them to either Raviss (Imperial) or Siricius (Republic) And yes, the plan is to go on for multiple rounds (at least 2, to give defenders and attackers on both sides an oppurtunity to switch). It won't be limited to two rounds, but if enough people show up and want more rounds, I'd be happy to set them up.
  25. Sorry for the double post, I know they are very annoying, but this is kind of important. I will need a Level 50 Imperial to procter since I will technically be watching the Republic side. Basically, all your job will be is to get the selected Field Commander to meet the opposing teams field commander outside of the base (probably in that large factory that you need to cross to get to the enemies base) just so both field commanders can be marked by the crosshairs emblem. I will also be awarding the said proctor with an additional gift. With any luck this should go smoothly and there should be a could outcome
