  7. Updated to reflect our recruiting needs for our EC HM team.
  8. Heres a build I just made based around the charts Kitru provided. http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/e8c702a7-60a4-4413-9827-347a0253eb53 This is the best build I could come up with for Stacking Def High. I'm under the Absorb numbers slightly, and over the shield numbers. I don't see how to raise the absorb number without losing some of the defense number.
  9. My one comment on Force Stasis is that I saw a notable increase in dps on my tank when I spec'd it to an instant use. I am a Hybrid Guardian, so it offers another nice bonus in that the build is much less focus starved so I find myself not needing as many focus generator hits as before. All I did was sacrifice one point out of purifying sweep, but honestly I'm thinking about taking the other point and putting into the focus tree to increase my sweep damage.
  10. I see that now, I wonder if it has to do with saber ward being up potentially? Either way it would be nice to get greater clarity from BW on what attacks consistute a force or tech ability. But it clearly looks like Kephess TFB is almost exclusively F/T. Saying that, I would assume its safe to say that it is an ideal fight for a Guardian or Vanguard? Shadows get a lower damage reduction due to armor and it appears armor will be king on this fight then, or is my reasoning still flawed?
  11. I think sacrificing 5% absorb could be a good idea overall. Here is the current build that I am using at this point. I'm currently only missing the 2 armorings to be full BiS Q63 http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/characte...d-dcfbde122330 But we have to talk a bit about defense chance vs absorb/shield in the two roll system to understand this. First IMO there is nothing that hits hard enough in this game to require 30K health on a guardian. It only puts a greater strain on your healers resource pool to try and keep you "topped off" and a smart healer will see you are still at 28K 90% and not prioritize heals your direction if there is raid damage going out. Bad healers will not see this and only see 90% and go crap I need to top my tank off and make it difficult on harder difficulty modes. There are two Variants that I've explored: "B" Variant using all "B" mods: Build Here: http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/eeab7e4b-a004-4d34-ab8d-dcfbde122330 Standard Variant using Standard Mods: http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/5daa6c57-0f7c-4d8d-9030-8bd98778f235 As you can see defensively the statistics are really close, but the health pool is sacrificed for 20 more main hand damage. With our relatively low crit chance this probably only equates to a 50DPS increase in game, potentially less because I havn't fully tested the standard variant because my money is on the "B" Variant. The Standard Variant stacks Strength because the standard variants have more strength then Endurance. But back to effective mitigation. Assuming that an attack can be defended and therefore can be shielded here is how the roles would work out over the course of a fight: Standard 30/50/50 itemization (1)29% chance to miss 100% (2)((100% - 29%) * 50%) = 35% chance to absorb 50% damage Total Mitigation = 29% + (35% *50%) = 46.5% Variant Itemization: 33/50/45 (1) 33% chance to miss 100% (2)((100% - 33%) * 50% = 33.5% chance to absorb 45% damage Total Mitigation = 33% + (33.5% * 45%) = 48.075% Now this really becomes a feel thing more then any thing else since we are talking about 1.5%. Currently torparse doesn't show how many hits are shielded vs. defened(missed) It does show defended but shield just shows up as part of the average DPS against the tank for the course of the fight. The problem with this is that its not always true. I'm going to use Kephess from TFB HM as an example. Unless its just bad luck Wrist Laser from Kephess which is a Kinetic ability and mitigatable only got absorbed 1 time in my last TFB HM run and it never missed even though he hit me 14 times with it. The Average DPS of this attack on my guardian was 5772.79 I never defended the attack once, and only absorbed once... so clearly there are mechanics working behind the scenes preventing some "Defendable" abilities from working correctly. I prefer the 50% absorb because if some bosses are harder to "defend" against meaning that I may still potentially absorb some damage I'd rather have that going on then risk taking even more damage on these high dps taken boss fights. EC NiM is another example where Kephess applies two abilities back to back that cannot be mitigated at all. Health becomes helpful and I''d still prefer 5K health over 1K to stack strength after being hit by them, but I certainly don't need 10K at that point either. Healers should be able to get me recovered and not waste extra resources to fire off an additional heal or two to top me to 30K+
  12. Updated out recruiting needs! Looking for a geared Sage Healer for our Thursday Chaos Group! & a Columi geared tank for our Saber group for Wed & Thurs.
  13. Friday night Anarchy Team is now full, still looking for people for our Saber group. Stay tuned for more exciting news about our operations and PvP plans in the future.
  14. The only bug I've ever seen on Denova HM or SM is the platform adds during the minefield sometimes become immune If they do, you just ignore it and keep solving the puzzle. Faster puzzle solve. Eventually they come out of their bug and you can kill him.
  15. what we have done on this fight is left our sentinel on Withering Horror all the way through the fight. We have two range dps, sage & commando, they aoe down the little adds in the blood pool. We put one healer in the pool first, then we put our second healer in the pool. Our second Melee DPS(Shadow) waits on the boss until the tank has the Male in place near the healer in the blood pool. After that, its a a rinse and repeat. We do not do tank swaps until the mails spawn, loss of threat in this fight for any reason causes additional adds to spawn so you need your highest dps'ng tank to start off the fight and use power adrenals, etc. Ours even puts his power relic on, clicks it, then swaps back to his defense stat relic and runs into the fight. We are nearly BiS 63 now, but we can almost beat him before the third pool, we stop dps on him to finish third pool to avoid Twisted Spawn at 13% This video is from our Gunnery Commando's perspective. Maybe it will help.
  16. Hi Tiddys we very well may be what you are looking for. We are a mature guild that enjoys running operations in a casual way. We have designated teams that are progression oriented and then we have Open free for all runs where we take any and all and have some fun clearing bosses. Obviously the hardest content is reserved for our progression teams because they require coordination and thorough understandings of the mechanics. But any member is free to join a team that has an open spot. Our recruitment post is here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=556195 You may apply at http://www.omegaknights.com Thanks, Crio
  17. Hi the Omega Knights are currently recruiting and we offer a flexible opportunity to allow you and your 4 other friends the opportunity to still play together in the end game. We are PvP Casual and we are casual in Ops but take them a bit more seriously. We see PvP as something to do between ops/dailies/datacrons/crafting material farming/etc... While we would require all 5 of you to apply, it is far from a serious process. Most of our members say that they have never been in a guild as organized as we are. join us at http://www.omegaknights.com

We are very active and looking to add members that can contribute to our ops teams as soon as possible. Are you wanting to do PvE without the ridiculousness that is 3 - 5 nights of ops running? Then we are for you, our formula may not provide the fastest progression but it works. Join us today: http://www.omegaknights.com

  24. I'm asking the same questions because I feel like in order to achieve these incredibly high values of shield and absorb we have to sacrifice Endurance and/or Defense for it. I posted my armory and torparse's for my last two runs in TFB HM on this thread. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=554679 I would certainly like to get a conversation going. I have another guardian in our ops group who is primarily geared for Defense and my healers have consistently said he is harder to heal because he takes more damage. what I believe shield and absorb really do for a guardian tank is allow us to smooth out the incoming damage. So we are perceived by our healers to take less overall damage because of this. But a Guardian also needs to rely on pure mitigation through the use of defense to make sure bosses just simply miss at some point. My head keeps saying run a shield and absorb around 40% and defense around 30% and then stack endurance augments where we can to give us a bigger health pool. In theory I like the sound of this in reality it may not work that's why I'm looking for a definitive answer from Guardians/Juggs that are clearing TFB HM.
  25. This is not a discussion for how to tank or what spec to tank with. Instead I want to specifically get Gaurdians/Juggs that are tanking in TFB HM to start sharing how you are itemizing you gear for BiS. Are you gearing all the way up to 50% Shield/Absorbtion and filling in with Defense Augments? Are you sacrificing Shield and Absorb to gear up Defense? Are you stacking Endurance? Let's talk constructively about how the best allocate those precious Mods & Enhancements to be better tanks. I am posting my armory below and I have currently successfully tanked TFB HM 8 Man, but I did put the Defense on Use relic back into my build for the Dread Council. Here is the link to the Armory: http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/dbd97e00-5315-4941-98cc-7622c31478c8 I have also included my TorParse's for the last two weeks. This includes all of my attempts on the Dread Council and successful kills at Withering Horror. http://www.torparse.com/a/43661 http://www.torparse.com/a/45479 http://www.torparse.com/a/47696 So how is everyone else gearing their Guardian/Jugg Tanks?
