  3. More akin to Baldur's Gate. KOTOR is descendant from that. Either way, it's a Bioware thing, good or bad.
  4. Great! I'm glad you got it figured out.
  5. Get a cat! I couldn't resist. To be serious though. Those are called nameplates, and they have their own section under preferences.
  6. The Instant 60 blue gear is not modifiable unfortunately, this can be seen in the Sept. 30th live stream. It is bound to legacy though, so you can send it to other characters. You can just use the outfit designer to get the look.
  7. Thanks. Yeah, after re-reading it I was a bit harsh. I could of been more diplomatic, but that's just what poured out after not saying anything at all while reading these forums for 4+ years. In all honesty it could of been a lot worse. I managed to temper my frustration quite a bit. I know most people just really want to enjoy the game and it's frustrating when it's not working the way it should be. So tempers flare and game forums are an easy place to vent. I just think it can turn into a bit of an echo chamber. Oh well, It could be worse.
  8. I'm getting so sick of everyone blaming every little thing on the engine. Bioware has been developing game engines in house since the company was funded. From the Infinity engine to the Lyceum engine. Dragon Age, and Dragon Age 2 ran on the Eclipse and Lyceum engines respectively. For gods sake Projekt Red used the Aurora engine for Witcher. Many game studios used engines developed by Bioware. They've had incredibly talented engineers working for them for years. So they used an alpha version of an engine to develop this game, and what people conveniently forget is that this was years before this game was released, years before EA. This was the original Bioware team. They were confident in their engineers to finish the development of an alpha engine and modify it for their own needs. Was it the best choice maybe, maybe not. But they were confident in their employees. To say this game even uses the Hero engine at all is laughable. It might as well be their own in house engine at this point, hell before it was even released you could argue it was mostly their own. For crying out loud for all the problems people have with the performance of this game, there are scores of people that don't have any, outside of the regular issues all games have. I've been here since early beta. I've had so few issues with this game I can hardly understand all the whining. I've built 2 new machines since the game has been released. Not a one has had the myriad problems. Do I have some? Yes. Are there a few issues here and there sure. But that's to be expected in the world of PC Gaming. Get over it, learn how to diagnose problems before you go blaming the game developers. Every gaming forum is fraught with complaints. I've come to believe the ill informed, and uneducated gamers are so busy trying to squeak out the last 5 fps, they are just crippling their own machines. Tweaking computers for performance gain is half the fun of PC gaming but how many people messing with the first newly built gaming rigs have never built their own machines before. Let alone spend a month researching the hardware to eliminate hardware issues from the start. Just because you went threw a PC builder on a website, or went to Newegg and threw a bunch of expensive crap into your cart does not guaranty flawless performance across all games. Sorry I have an i7 4770k, MAXIMUS VI HERO MoBo, Asus 970 Strix Some aggressively timed G-Skill Ram, Seasonic Platinum 660 powersupply, Samsung 850 pro SSD drive (For OS and Games), and I have no fps problem, yes I get less in Warzones, and Ops. I limit my frame rate to start with though I don't care about 100+ fps. I don't have any draw distance problems with the new update. I don't have Network issues, my game patches quickly. I just don't see why people have so many problems with decent to high end hardware, It just leads me to believe it's a software/driver/I don't know how to take care of my PC issue. I just don't get it. My friends don't seem to have the plethora of problems I see on these forums. Who knows maybe I'm just lucky, but three different machines later, and nary a problem leads me to believe it's PEBKAC. Sorry for the rant but after nearly 4 years I had to get that of my chest. Now let's talk about how 4.0 is ruining the game.
  9. My guess. You chose the kneel option ... and cue the end credits. Remember your choices matter. If you Actually joined Valkorion there wouldn't be much of a story now would there.
  10. TUXs, I know what you mean about passion, and frustration. Believe me, I'm surrounded by die hard St Louis Blues fans. This wasn't directed towards you. I've read your posts over the last few years, I get where you're coming from. It's just there are some people that endlessly post negative and baseless things, and have been doing so for a long time. Just makes me wonder why they are still here. I've been on the internet since the days of Usenet and the BBS's of yore... since the early 80's. I know this place can be a retched hive from time to time.
  11. Wow... just wow. Are you really still complaining about 3 server crashes lasting maybe 4 hours during nearly the first quarter of this year. In all honesty, that's actually pretty consistent up-time for nearly 3 months. The last crash occurring almost 2 months ago. For the sake of your own sanity. Let it go. Since the beginning of year, how many times has your PC or laptop crashed, or for that matter your smart phone, or router, or smart TV, or one of the myriad complex electronic devices you use on a regular basis. Do you bombard those companies tech support forums, or complain about their products? Just curious. A server by the way is exponentially more complicated then your gaming rig, and diagnosing, hardware, and or software issues can be difficult. Even with highly skilled techs working on it. Me I just go make a sandwich, open a beer, or do something else with my time if the servers go down. I have other options, other hobbies, friends, and family, dogs and cats... oh and books to occupy my time. Oh well. Just had to get that off my chest.
  12. I wouldn't worry, it doesn't show up under "My Games" as well in my account. I've played through all of the content for the expansion. You should be fine.
  13. I've been around since pre-beta as well, and I'm still playing. Not every day mind you. I've been a sub since day one.
  14. You can also install the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) it will update some of the DirectX 9 files, it seems to help alot of people. You can download it from microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
  15. You can shut off AA in the game and force it using Nvidia Inspector. Check out the following link and see if any of this helps. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=591313 Good luck!
  16. Also, here's to Kasdan hopefully writing a excellent new trilogy! Cheers!
  17. I can see that we are both looking at it the same way, and we are probably both right and wrong. I just think less will be pruned in the long run. Either way I think it's a wait a see situation.
  18. That horrible mess of current continuity is filled with a metric tonne of recent New York Times Best seller novels. Disney does not throw away money. They purchased a franchise, and that franchise consists of 30+ years of material that they will want to be apart of the ongoing franchise. When they purchased Marvel, they didn't throw out everything that came before. They let the House of Ideas continue what they were doing. Lucasfilm is just another company under their umbrella, that is still being run by the same people that made it a Billion dollar franchise. What we are most likely getting is an in house clean up of the current continuity, in order to streamline, and make it easier for new stories to be worked into the vast history of the Star Wars continuity. I've said that I could be wrong, but from a business stand point it makes no sense what so-ever to toss out large swaths of previous stories when those stories and there related media make fairly large sums of money.
  19. Disney is not going to be sorting through it, Leland Chee, and Pablo Hidalgo and a handful of others who now comprise the Story Group are. If your not familiar with those 2 names, and their relationship with continuity, they are essentially authorities on the subject. If Disney made sure they are apart of Story Group it's a good bet they are there to make sure the new stories line up with the current continuity, or why else would they be there. You can say the EU is fan-fiction all you want, and under George's regime, that may of been the case as far as he was concerned. But with the removal of the previous tiered hierarchy of continuity being discarded it is much more likely that your so called fan-fiction will in fact be actual canon under the new approach to the franchise.
  20. I don't see how it could take place 20 years after RoTJ if they are going to cast Mark, Carey, and Harrison in it. Yes they can de-age them with CGI if they wanted to. But unless they are very careful where they fit the story into the post RoTJ timeline they could very easily invalidate much of the Bantam, and Del Rey, and Dark Horse stories, which they won't because of the financial value of printing that vast body of work. Do you really think they are going to throw away nearly 100 novels worth of story telling. You realize they make money off of selling all those novels. It would be incredibly stupid to do that. I mean they could do it, I just don't see that happening.
  21. I would also bet that Episode VII takes place after the FoTJ novel series. Mark, Carey, and Harrison, are all about the right age of Luke, Leia, and Han in the timeline. This would also allow Ben Skywalker, and Allana Solo to be the right age for the young main protagonists of the new movies. This allows the EU to remain intact and creates a new era of story telling in a timeline that is wide open for possibilities. Disney is not stupid when it comes to money. They bought Star Wars not for the movies, they bought a franchise, and this franchise includes a VAST amount of material. The Bantam era novels, the Del Rey era novels, Dark Horses comics, Video Games and so on. They don't want to abandon all of this material, when they can keep selling all of it. It would be incredibly stupid from a financial stand point to invalidate all of this work. The one thing that Star Wars has that no other franchise has is a cohesive continuity between all of it's mediums, whether they be Movie, TV, Novel, Comic, Video Game. They all take place in the same Universe. That's why it is so rich. Well that's my 2 cents at least. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  22. My take on all of this is that the Star Wars canon is loosing it's tiered hierarchy. No more G level canon, T level canon, N level canon and so on. Not that EU is being tossed out. Leland Chee is quoted as saying, This would imply that much of the previous canon will in fact remain intact. It is for all intents and purposes, being cleaned up and not discarded. Why else would they create Story Group, and put Pablo Hidalgo and Leland Chee in it if they did not want to maintain much of the EU as is. Basically the previous hierarchical canon is being jettisoned, because with George "The Bearded One" out of the picture there is no G level canon anymore. Link to atricle.
