  1. The image is just the full Havoc Squad, so I'm gonna go with "no" on playable Gand based on that image.

I haven't done that story line so I didn't recognize the scene. Oh well..

    FALSE ADVERTISING! :D

  2. I just read the rest of the patch notes, and given these, I can't complain too much about losing Headshot:

The armor reduction from Shatter Shot can no longer be cleansed.

Ballistic Shield no longer requires cover. The ability now lasts 20 seconds (up from 15), deploys at the player's current position, remaining there for the duration.

Honestly, if they'd just taken headshot, I'd be a lot more understanding, but they took both. It annoys me that they think removing situational abilities is some sort of fix. Basically people didn't like having to pay attention... face-roll for the win I guess.

  3. 1) they've made an effort to remove highly Situational skills or make them less situational in 2.0. Both headshot & eviscerate fall into this category.

2). They're completely redundant. There is absolutely no need for both.

3). Ambush and SOS already 1 shot most normals, so why purpose do headshot/eviscerate really serve? So you can kill all 3 normals w/o any of them returning fire?

    4) they were useless on anything that was really a challenge

The are not completely redundant just because you think they are, but they are used less often. Why remove options that aren't hurting the game? I've given several suggestions on how they could have been kept and made more useful. Fairly obvious things that any decent developer would have thought of already. The problem, IMO, is that they took the easy way out in getting rid of them. The right thing to do would have been to make them more useful (even if it meant another week before that particular thing was updated.

  4. We lost eviscerate as well. I don't like it at all. Mainly because there is no logic in removing these abilities. Everybody could already choose to remove them from quickbars and they were not powerful enough to make the difference. Just the matter of taste, having more options was better and is always better. No logic in this.

On the money right there. A friend of mine suggested a way to make them more useful: The could be fairly average regular (possible weaker) attacks that would work on opponents who are not stunned. However, on stunned opponents they generate an automatic criticals.

Combine that with the an idea I saw on another thread, that changes the ability to stun from a completely immobilized/can't do anything condition, to a slowed movement, and slower cool-downs for abilities. This would fit nicely with the way they revamped alacrity. In the end , high alacrity would temper the effects of the stun, but not eliminate them completely.

Stun would not be totally negated, and alacrity would have even more usefulness.

  5. I reflexively worked head-shot and eviscerate into rotations when the situations were right. Eviscerate was also just a fun way to take someone out as a sniper (style points do count, dammit).

My question is: What harm were these abilities causing? They certainly weren't making anyone overpowered...

  6. I'm under the impression there is an exploit to stealth cap a door in VS. Sometimes people will trigger it accidentally. It needs to be fixed. If it happens to you feel free to report it, but report it in a "hey BW fix your map" way not a "this guy stleath capped he's hacking ban him!111!!!111 way" because you really can't know if he's triggering the exploit of purpose or not.

As for speed hacks you should assume 99.99 times out of 100 its either, force speed, transcendence, hydrolic override, a passive 15% speed bonus in a spec, or lag / latency catching up. If you see someone literally teleport across the map its a speed hack, but to put things in perspective a good team can score in hutball in less than 15 seconds, so just because someone got somewhere FAST doesn't mean they speed hacked.

Thanks for the reply. I despise those who hack games, but I also don't want to make false accusations. I feel this particular instance was someone who knew how to hack or was purposefully exploiting a bug. It was Voidstar and I saw 2 doors and bridge activated with no visible toon nearby. On top of that, the speed of the arming and bridge activation was the fastest I've ever seen (and I've seen and been rolled over by plenty of pre-mades).

One more question: What is the proper way to report something like this? If I can't see the player who's cheating than it's rather hard to tell who did it.

  7. Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere. Is there an ability that allows you to stay completely invisible while arming a door bomb or claiming a node? I have previously seen the teleport hack and I'm wondering if I might be seeing another hack now. I'm never sure if I'm seeing a speed hack or if someone just has a speed boost going.
  8. No one to play with. I did however join a pug yesterday. It was a pug that included people from some of the top teams on the server. We had vent but we didnt care about class composition and since we had not played together before there wasnt much of a game plan. Regardless of all that it was still some of the most fun games I've played. We had some tight games against another team (no one els queueing) and it felt like the outcome actually meant something, in contrast to having 4 people camp home node for points as soon as it's starting to look like a loss..... which usually is the case with pug (n)wz'es..

I hope we can run some more (semi)pug rateds in the future on C.Run.

I'm a transplant from Mind Trick to C. Run, and I make no claims that I'm a "pro" PvPer, but I try hard to not do stupid things and many times sacrifice personal "glory" in order to achieve team victory. Perhaps I'm in the minority here, but I find it cheap and lazy to just quit or camp a node because things don't look good 30 seconds into a battle.

Just yesterday in a HB match I noticed that it looked like I was the only one on my team trying to stop the ball carrier, and I let the "team" know it. They had all been hanging out at mid fighting for personal gain. The only excuse I got was that we had only 6 people. Someone else (can't think of the name), then pointed out that the opposing team only had 7, and everyone seemed to wake up a little. We still lost the match, but only by 1 point.

Just a little bit of leadership can go a long way.

  9. status symbols such as different colored armor and weapon crystals (require a certain rating in ranked). and the rating itself is a kind of bragging right.

Thanks, I do enjoy the bling, and I honestly think PvP is fun, but ranked seems a bit of a hassle right now.

  10. Besides a full set of WH gear, is there anything really worth earning with ranked comms? If not then ranked seems like a waste if getting a match going is as hard as people are claiming. It seems like a catch-22. Getting WH gear is a pain through regular WZ's, but to participate in ranked WZ's people want you to already have all your WH stuff?
  11. I'll admit, I didn't read all 40 pages of this thread. Do we have any reliable information regarding ranked groups in sizes smaller than 8? I thought for sure I saw something about 4 man ranked groups coming soon. Maybe I'm on crack, but 4 man seems so much more manageable and less time consuming to form.
  12. First I'll say I'm pleased with what was added, it's a bit overwhelming at first, but very useful.

I've hit two MAJOR roadblocks in making this a totally fun and useful feature for me though:

    1) I can't save and load keybind configs to go along with the new UI. It's fantastic that I can tweak windows for 20minutes on a character then just save it and switch to an alt and it's all there. It is far far far less fantastic when I have to rebind a lot of buttons to fit the new UI layout, then do it again for each alt.

    2) I can't save and load ability button layouts. There is zero point in coming up with a UI suited to healing on an OP if I can't easily load in a button config to fit it, then switch back to my fighting buttons for missions.

I'll cut out any histrionics and emotion and just say the lack of those things makes the new UI a tantalizing frustration at this point.

^^Totally Agree^^ . I've done a lot of soloing in the game, and now I'm looking forward to running OPs with my guild mates, but I'm not looking forward switching icons or key bindings around 1 at a time whenever switching from soloing mode to full group mode.

  13. I am afraid I am going to have to disagree with you. The Rule of Two was designed so that each successive generation of Sith was stronger than the last. An apprentice could only become the master if he bested his master in one form or another. After 1000 years of "Selective Breeding" in the Sith ranks, Palpatine would be immensely stronger than Bane.

I don't think they were always more powerful than their master. In many cases, by way of the nature of the dark side, the master would end up in a situation caused by their own hate and fear... and the apprentice would simply choose that moment to strike.

  14. Its hard to really come to a solid conclusion on these types of contests. Every writer is allowed a certain amount of leeway in how they present a character and the skills they posses. I think if you asked Mr. Lucas he would say (if he gave an answer at all, after all he is very elusive) that Mace would win. Lets think about it for a moment... the only reason Mace didn't destroy the emperor in ROTS is Anakin. If Anakin hadn't been there, and hadn't just turned to the dark side.. well, lets just say that Sidious would have gotten a lot crispier.

That situation, that fight with Sidious, with Anakin intervening.. that was Mace's shatterpoint. The sad thing is that Mace knew Anakin's destiny was somehow related to his own shatterpoint, but he didn't know exactly how or when.

  15. I might be blind, but I don't see under key bindings where I can bind page 2-5 of the quickslot bars to actual keys.. (I would love to show quickslot bar 1 and 2 at the same time, and be able to use SHFT 1,2,3 etc, to use the extra row of quickslots. Please either console me in this misery , or tell me what I am missing so I can do this :D. Thanks
