the usefulness of def/alacrity isn't that much worse then power/shield, crit/shield or def/surge. if it was intentional, you'd expect them to remove those too. at least I would.

mastercrafts are crits and I have no idea what procs you're talking about. rakata relics can crit, seem to have a pretty decent crit rate based on the artificers in my guild (5), and all it does is add a augment slot. can provide SSs if needed.

no. this is as far as it goes. you have now successfully crafted the best possible version of Alloy Heavy Helmet. on another note though... I have started biochem on an alt recently, and decided to test REing an item I don't have a schematic for. 80 Surgical Medpacs later I still don't have a prototype recipe. will continue trying.

this is by no means a definitive answer, it's only 1 more of the "I can't make it happen" posts, but I'll say it anyway. I'm a synthweaver. I really wanted to have crit-crafted rakata pieces. I have them now. in process of making them, I have RE'd about 40 bracers/belts. I did not learn a recipe. this is substantially more then my other (T1) failing streaks. some time ago, there was talk of crit-crafting rakata trinkets; did we get a confirmation? also, I'd suggest posting SSs of crit crafted saber/pistol and other important SSs in the OP.

yes, lvl 50 blues can be twice RE'd into T2 purples, though rating does not increase once artifact grade is achieved (ie. rating only changes with the color).

I can confirm REing lvl 50 blues (Primeval XXX, rating 116, recipe gotten of GTN) into artifact T1 items (rating 124) and those into T2 artifacts (rating 124). atm I CBA with SSs, but I can provide them if needed.

the math is right, but that enough ppl in there is... a large number. you'd also need them to be evenly spread over the skill level they have, and most ppl that would participate I guess got 400 already. you're also talking about only 1 skill which limits that even further down...

if there is collection of such info, link would be much appreciated. it's just that it sounds... overly complicated. on the topic of REing/critting artifact-grade base items, I'd like to point out that all the recipes (that I managed to find) are recipes for pieces normally sold by dungeon vendors. knowing this, it just feels that the item is as it is, no chance of getting better. I sadly have no info to back this up in any way.

correct. I know we don't know, but I was wondering how much research was done on base-Artifact grade items ("Rakata" pieces & instance dropped recipes). I've made my belt and bracers (no crits) and am considering doing more and see what happens.
