  1. I'm with you there. I also was on the forum way before launch and downloaded all those awesome Timeline videos (so sad they never finished them!). It does feel great to play a Star Wars game that's for sure. My biggest gripe with this game is that a lot of the planets feel too closed-in, too linear and not MMO wide expanse enough which is compounded by that the fact that these are supposed to be planets. But aside from that when the game works it's really good.
  2. Hi, I just posted an intro post on the server thread (hopefully it'll be moved to the recruitment subforum soon) but after doing some research it seems your guild could be a good fit for me. Please check my post and let me know how you feel.
  3. Just noticed the Guild Recruitment subforum so please transfer there.
  4. Hi! i just got back in the game after 3.5 years. Played in beta and at launch and now got on the new expac / 12x XP hype train to finally finish some stories and give it another chance. I'm getting reajusted to the game and noticed my old guild, Eve, is no more so i'm looking for a friendly, casual place to call home. Here's a bit of my story I started playing games in earnest when I got a NES and started MMOs back in the late 90s with Asheron’s Call, although I had no idea what I was doing and mostly ended up running up and down a beach killing mobs. I took a deep dive with WoW (little sleep, food or work ) and have been dropping out and coming back to it ever since. It’s my main MMO, I love its story and lore, have read all the books and I still play it (Blackrock Foundry H 8/10 at the moment) but I’m putting it on the backburner these past few months. Played a bit of the betas for Vanguard and Age of Conan but didn’t jump fully into it. I played Guild Wars 2 for a little while and enjoyed the jumping puzzles, group quests and world but felt the story lacking and I dropped after taking my first toon to cap. Then came SWTOR which I loved at first and then didn’t. The story delivery is outstanding but the world is ####, too instanced, too small… and I’m a huge Star Wars fan (can’t wait for ep VII!), that's why 12x was a BIG motivator for me. After that I tried Secret World, I love it and still have it installed even though I don’t play it often. The world is great, it’s a different feel and the quests are outstanding. And so back to SWTOR. i love the story, the delivery, I love some planets like Korriban (steeped in lore), Dromund Kaas (good Empire feel) and Tatooine (great expanses and feels more like a planet than the others). i love the Fleet too. Though I gravitate toward PvE and raids more than PvP (if you see my WoW story) in this game I only recall doing Black Talon and Hammer Station but I'm not averse to doing more if the opportunity shows itself. So now Guilds. Who I am is a married 35 year old working man who enjoys playing in a semi-hardcore way when time permits. I like to call myself casual hardcore, I will never lose the hardcoreness (!) since I’ve always been a gamer but at the same time time and life have made me more casual. At the moment I work retail so my days off tend to be during the week and I can log ~6 hours in game on those days easy but otherwise maybe 2h here, 3 there… it’s a bit random. In game I enjoy leveling, discovering the stories and try to get immersed even though some planets feel empty and closed off. I always enjoy crafting in games, I spent a whole bunch of time in FF XIV leveling all my crafts and the crafting in Vanguard was pretty much my best memory of the game but I do like the one in SWTOR. I also like to run dungeon and raid but I’m not sure yet if I’ll spend enough time in the game to be heavily involved in endgame and honestly I’m not even sure how endgame is in this game. Regarding RP I enjoy it, and I have run some PnP campaigns but in MMOs I take it pretty casually. I will greet and talk in character-ish if needed but I won’t probably run long campaigns in game. But who knows right? What I’m looking for is a guild with adult, mature and open-minded people who will accept me and probably see me play often right now but understand that life gets in the way and it can be tricky to commit to a weekly event. I just want good easy-going camaderie. Looking forward to meeting you folks in game! Seelvar (Agent lvl 43) Vejiss (Sorcerer lvl 15) PS: Sorry for the wall of text but I’m someone who likes context
  5. Haha, i'm going to try to focus on this one SI then SW and finish my Agent. After that will see. Maybe we'll be lucky and get dual spec with the new expac?
  6. Yeah I quit playing back then before the CM was implemented (heck I left before Legacy was put in). I'm going to try and find a good guild next.
  7. Haha, yeah putting mats makes sense, also the Orange gear that other toons can use (i think I read somewhere you can make that gear account-wide with CC). Bought my stronghold today and the Going Places pack like you guys recommended (it was 40% iirc so good deal!). I browsed the cartel shop but didn't see anything that seemed urgent or important. All the cosmetic gear isn't key and I didn't even like most of it. Same with mounts and pets. The Ewokk companion and Toturga I may get at some point but no rush. Any kind of XP boosts seem useless to me so really the only thing that seemed worthy were unlocks and Escrow but I need to figure out how those work. I also grabbed Artifice, Archaeology and TH for my Sorcerer but I need to take a look at crew skills again to see what is worth making and what sells best.
  8. I'm drawn to Madness but everyone recommends Lightning.... I wish we could dual spec!
  9. Stronghold at Lvl 15? Sweet! I'm getting one today. Just need to send a bit of money to my SI. Stronghold are character specific not account-wide correct?
  10. I just got my SI to level 15 so it's past time I picked a spec. I definitely want a Sorcerer but I'm debating between Lightning and Madness. It seems Lightning is best overall right now but I don't plan to PvP or probably even do high-end PvE so efficiency isn't my concern at this point. I'm most interested in fun gameplay.
  11. Thanks for all the replies guys. Bunch of things to mull over. I did a nice little session today and finished Korriban on my SI which already got her to lvl 15 (I even forgot to use the consumable XP boost that dropped). I had a bunch of emails with some titles, pets and didn't have to pay for the speeder skill or speeder since I'm a founder and had bought the CE. I logged on to my 43 Agent just to check a few things and noticed I have ~4000 Cartel Points and 200K on him. I did spend ~350CP to upgrade 1 slot row on my bags across all toons but since I have 200K I may just use currency for future upgrades. He also had a bunch of craft material, some Orange gear, mods and a bunch of mission discoveries and companion gifts. The Rocket Boost sounds interesting but right now I'm rediscovering the game so I'm not in a rush. I'm sure I'll want to get a Stronghold and shared Cargo asap.
  12. Yeah since my SW and SI got reset to level 1 I figured I'd start fresh on those. Then when I'm refamiliarized I can take a peek at my 43 Agent. I noticed the new expac is coming in Oct. and then SoR will be free to subs so I grabbed a 60 day one time sub for now. On quick Q though. What's the best place to spend your Cartel Points on?
  13. Hi guys, So I played the game back during beta and launch but stopped around Feb. 2012 (Agent lvl 43 and few Sith that are back to lvl 1 because of server mergers and name changes...) so obviously it's like I'm learning everything again. My questions are more regarding gear and currency. I'm assuming a lot of the currencies have changed since the game went F2P. Back then I played (very minimally) the AH, I had bags full of crafting mats and crafted a lot. Plenty of companions and runs and such. I seem to remember purple gear was highest but there was an orange type that I don't remember. I would like to know what currencies and gear I should watch out for, what I should save for later, what I should spend....
  14. I'll quote this because it's the most unbiased and well thought-out post in 40 pages. The biggest point is that subbers says "then pay for a sub" but most if not all F2P players are NEVER going to no matter what so the whole point is to entice them to play the game so they spend money on upgrades; that way EA/BW gets 'some' $ as opposed to no $. My biggest gripe honestly is with the "preferred" status. I can understand most of, if not all, the restrictions for new players who haven't spent a dime on the game. They start from scratch so they don't 'need' 10 character slots or more than 2 quickbars at first, even those I'd concede. But for preferred status??? People keep replying to the Guild Wars 2 comparison with the fact that "it's not F2P, you paid $60 for it!" well I'm sorry but I spent $150 on the SWTOR Collectors Edition and then subbed for 3 months. Some Collectors Edition when you can't even get more than 2 quickbars. People say you can earn CP in game (though at what rate remains to be seen) but I'm sorry I tried playing my 43 Sniper for 30 minutes and gave up. The game is meant to be fun (and it can be, that's the infuriating part!) but this just frustrates and pisses off so it fails at its intent and just makes people give up and leave. So I'll wait and see what they do. PS: and now people who actually do bother to buy a new sub get locked out of the game so this F2P really feels like a clusterF so far.
  15. I'll add my voice and keep it civil (even though I have many curses in my head). I was actually very excited to get back into the game. Was planning to finish my Agent story and possibly play a Sith Warrior. I was even fine with pretty much most of the restrictions as stupid as some seem (hide head slot??) And I can even swallow the reduced XP and the fact that the 1450CP in my ledger will not be accessible to me, even though I bought the Collector's Edition, unless I actually get a subscription; which defeats the whole point (for me) of even getting the CPs. BUT I'm sorry but restricting the quickbars??? Basically the game is right now unplayable, period. I'm a 43 Sniper Agent with tons of skills and I can't even slot all the ones I would use on regular basis in my bars! Basically in F2P you are not allowing users to partake in PvE. I'm not sure if it's a similar situation for other classes (number of skills and such) but I find this ridiculous. So the take-away message it that I was motivated and happy to get back into the game, spent 45 minutes trying to figure out how I would even be able to play, and decide I couldn't and logged off. And please note that even if you ONLY fixed the quickbars I'd most likely give the game another shot.
  16. I'm not sure how people are not making profit off slicing... I don't think I'm doing anything special and I certainly haven't overthought it yet I make a pretty steady return. Sure sometimes I might get a mission or two that return say 200c less than it cost but it's not that often and I get several green cases, missions.... That's not even counting world gathers.
  17. I noticed something today which might be a fluke but I figured it'd be worth checking out. I noticed that mission return seems to vary depending on what you are doing. I was running Data Race which costs about 1400c. When I was idle, basically on the phone just moving every now and then to avoid AFK, I got returns of 1100-1300c. But as soon as I got back to questing I got returns in the 1600-2000. As anyone else seen this ?
  18. Has the spreadsheet been updated recently? it seems the last tier has less info than the previous ones.
  19. Nice pointers, i tried Huttball once and got completely lost but I have to try again so I'll keep these in mind.
  20. Very nice list. I'm saving this in my docs.
  21. The last few pages are going to hell in a handbasket....
