Since release Guard has seemed out of place in PvP the way it works now. There is no legitimate reason to allow this skill to be applicable in PvP if relics aren't, and having it in creates all kinds of balancing issues (Ex. Healing operative, very hard to kill. Healing Operative with guard nearly Immortal).
To balance this it should EITHER be an active skill w/ a low cd or just removed. Ex. Guards a friendly player and directs 50% of the damage they recieve for the next 3 attacks. 10 sec cd
This would require the 50% damage protection to have to be applied consistently while allowing a good tank to retain the ability to save people from focus fire, because in PvP and PvE this should be a skill used to negate spike dmg, not a static dmg reduction. Before people get upset about losing protection points if the skill got removed, add a pvp
talent that makes the dmg reduction from taunts more effective.
Just my thoughts and I by no means see all sides of the argument so please discuss with some thought and examples.
