    Force fail

Companions are a real pain for this - could really use some smart AI to help avoid it, but if its happening a lot remind the 'owner' of the companion to move them around a bit to help you out.

    Force fail

At level 16 you should be able to pick up the talents for 9% force cost reduction (3 points) & 100 extra force (2 points). Not the jazziest of talents but will help your problem. Also make sure you dont overheal (that is healing more often than is needed), and watch out using the quick 1.5 second heal (forget its name) - it is not very force efficient in how much it costs vs how much it heals.
  3. Is there a reason why there isn't a minimum entry before a WZ starts? Getting so sick of starting matches 2, 3 4 ppl down and losing as a result. Even when people join later and the cancel timer stops you are pretty much fighting uphill. So far tonight out of 6 games only 1 have we had a full team from the beginning. I know I play early before peak population, and yeah i'm on the under populated republic side, but really is it so hard not to let the game start before its at least 7 on a team? I know it might be down to ppl queuing and not joining, but really. Don't let the barriers down until theres enough people because your pretty much just giving free points to the team with the most. And before people start "join a premade" etc, this is just a request for a simple mechanic to stop the imbalance for everyone. Edited to add we even had a repub vs repub huttball start 4 v 5. How does that happen? Really there werent enough imps queuing up? It was fun for the 90 seconds or so it lasted though. Reckon Hutball would be better 4 v 4 or even 3 v 3.
  4. I'd take that over 6-8 sorcs. at least the troopers will be mostly static spamming Grav round.
  5. Not even sure that many people understand left / right. Half the people I see in on the pub side just follow others like sheep anyway. The amount of times we have lost turrets due to a couple of people responding to an inc call, only to be followed by everyone else 10 seconds later. Its gotten to the point where I tend to run in the opposite direction because you can almose be sure the currently safe turret is going to be abandoned.
  6. Pro's: - Class stories & personal attachment to character and companions are good - Voice acting generally well done and relatively unique - Good fun to play (if you can get past the cons) - enough content for ~1-2 months but it depends how much / hard you play - a lot of scope for growth & plans for the future Con's - lack of social depth - lack of playable species variety - PvP still needs work - Bugs, FPS and Slow loading for some - Apparently poor customer support (anecdotally as have never had an issue) - Player base too spread out - Current Faction population imbalance The con's need to be viewed in light of the game being little mor than a 7 weeks post release & we should be able to anticipate these being resolved over time.

    Clickers

The only issue I can see in SWTOR that keybinding helps with is that you will be able to turn quicker with the mouse than the keyboard, which is especially important in PvP when playing classes with positional attacks (typically melee). More static ranged classes that require less mobility will suffer less from clicking in that regard (plus have an auto-turn to some extent in any case). The GCD issue is relevant to whether or not it is quicker to activate your specials with keybinds, and if you have any logic / order to your quickslot allocations then you will instinctively know where to mouse over to click - I would argue if it takes anything like 1.5 seconds (the length of the cooldown) to find and activate an icon in your toolbars with a mouse its in the wrong place or you need to think about / learn your locations. It can help to double up on important but infrequent abilities (i.e. use two slots for the same ability, next to each other, when they are on the far left or right toolbar) such as the stun/cc breaker that has a 2 min cooldown. Binding an interrupt to your middle mouse button would help too as they are not affected by the GCD. If your new to MMO's then the other thing your gonna encounter is the elitist "my way is the only way crowd". Unfortunately sometimes they degenerate into the worst class of gamer when they identify someone not doing the way they would - suggest learning to ignore the newb callers and play your own game. If you feel people are quicker than you and it is a disadvantage then maybe think about learning keybinding (because ultimately it is more efficient), but only if you want to. Don't be bullied into playing someone else's way. You pay the same as them and have every right to play how you want to
  8. Same here, tried it with PVP lvl 40 gear. No joy - and you cannot even put the mods you take out back in until you hit the req. item level. To add - found out only recently that on the civil war PvP map if your team controls any of the side turrets there are speeders on the extreme left / right of the respawn ship that take you directly to them, not the usual start point in the middle. Doh!
  9. As stated in the developers post re the changes, the point in the items is that they are cheaper to produce rather than more powerful per se. So still a benefit, just not one that means everybody has to be biochem to be competitive. They also go on to state that they are looking at finding ways to make the other professions more viable in the end game... http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=260731

    Bigger warzones

some kind of tatooine based Alterac Valley style model would cut down on the rendering some but the issues caused by 20+ players would remain I guess.
  11. Well it depends how far your enemy gets / will get in their turn. If you know that already fair point, otherwise why give up? In general though, thought this was supposed to be a social game. What is social about me me me me me me me me me me? Yeah its partly BW fault for designing the system for valor 60+ to be about win only, but in the main this is about selfishness, pure and simple. I can do better for ME by leaving this group of scrubs behind. One day those scrubs / their alt's may well be better than you and will be leaving when they join in with you. Presumably the current quitters won't have a problem with that, even if it costs them their precious wins. And as for the comment - why should I care about randoms, I didnt choose them - well actually you did, when you queued solo. Dont like it find a premade / friends. The randoms didnt choose you either by your logic, so why are you more important than them? because you think your better?
  12. Is anyone else having HIB showing up as available on targets in PvP when it is in fact not available (i.e they have no dot's or matrix on them)? Happened all the time to me tonight and don't remember it happening before todays patch.
  13. If it can be done in a manner that rewards ability and not time played, and that it then doesn't go on to give rewards that imbalance further (I liked the idea about free play time) then great. But.. the state of gear imbalance & RNG pretty much ensures that available time is a key factor & that alone eliminates a big chunk of the player base. On top of that add the current class imbalances, mirror issues & I don't think that right now the game is ready. In my opinion dev time would be better spent ironing out other pvp issues to get as much of a level playing field as possible. Then ranking would be awesome. Doing it in a way that leads to too much qq'ing about any issue above just devalues it, probably permanently.
  14. Surely a x4 multiplier to medals bonus for winning (or a x0.25 multiplier to losing) would help to counteract the I don't care about the team, its all about me approach that Mr hate seems to be epitomising. Of course if you are on a server / faction that keeps getting steamrolled that plays into the hands of the other side, so maybe not best solution in that case. I would rather that objective points were better distributed too - killing / interrupting people capping and defusing doesnt seem to generate any objective points, yet it dam well helps you win. To be honest then I would not be upset if medals generated no benefit at all and everything was objective & mvp vote driven. That way you could lose and still get a good reward providing you had been working for the good of the team, irrespective of the medal farmers deathmatching in the middle of the map.
  15. If something feels broken to the majority of people (a lot of whom have had better pvp experiences elsewhere) then something isn't right. It might not be actually broken, but if they confirm it's working as intended then the design it has just doesnt meet with approval from a lot of people. Still seems like it needs a change (whether you call it a fix or not). Or do you think its actually fine as it is?
  16. Great stuff - really interesting and cool that it backs up what people have been thinking. As an analyst it would be fascinating to see this kind of information on a larger scale (are you listening Bioware / EA?). Taking a slight leap based on your results: Empire: Younger and inexperienced. They jump straight in and go like the clappers, finishing sooner and more likely to get p'd off if you don't do it their way. Republic: Older and more experienced. Take their time, going with the flow but building up to a bigger finish. More likely to call you back. Just sayin
  17. Can't help but agree that the resolve system feels like it isn't working, or certainly isn't having the intended effect. Whether thats down to too short duration before tickdown / server - client latency or the initial CC's not filling resolve enough does't really matter because right now it feels broken and feeling broken is enough for it to need fixing. As others have said, we know how it should work, it just doesnt - especially with knockbacks randomly not working irrespective of resolve. The thing is though, for all the crying about being chain cc'd, the WZ's are a team game. With the possible exception of an op / scoundrel catching with your cc breaker down (pre nerf at least), I dont recall being sufficiently burnt down in a true 1 on 1 whilst cc chained to be an insurmountable issue (and I play as a JK Guardian, sage and gunslinger, so most ends of the spectrum). If you run into a group of 2 or more, unsupported by any teammates, your gonna die stunlocked or not most of the time (at least against good opponents). Ask yourself - if I died carrying the ball, stunlocked by 3, in huttball - could I really not have passed (and I have passed while stunned, whether your meant to or not)? Where were my team & what were they doing? Healing me or protecting me / cc'ing or dps'ing the enemy? Or did I just try to solo run it and expect to be able to make it?
  18. would add that watch out for the trap of keeping all your alts at the same level. You will end up doing the same things over and over, which will get stale. Try keeping them a planet or two apart, and if they are similar level then on opposite factions, as well as mixing up the crew skills and talent choices / dark or light options.
  19. nothing wrong with trying different chars, but you do realise that you do not need to delete the characters? You are allowed 8 per server. A lot of people play with alts, it can keep things fresh & I think also helps you to understand other classes which makes a difference in pvp or working in groups.
  20. They both jump. There is no truth to the argument that the silly hats sages wear make them float longer, thereby delaying the effect.
  21. 2 seperate problems. Low pop servers need to have a server merge, as someone else has said x server is just a bandaid and doesnt promote server community / rivalry (which is pretty necessary if you want open pvp). This is a headache to implement, but they went with too many servers at launch so it is of their own making. Sure lots of servers meant pain free launch, but ensured this headache for a long time afterward. Faction imbalance. ultimately will balance itself out in the long term, but not quickly and many people will have desubbed before it does. Needs fixing properly and soon. Not entirely sure how easy it would be to ensure fair faction transfers in any case: -Gear needs to be transformed from one faction to other faction equivalent -race choice -opens up the possibility of people having both getting all holocrons from both factions -companion gear / story would be reset or marked as completed -quest completion, commendations etc -fotm abuse probably many other problems too. Perhaps the Legacy system offering quicker xp will help people rerolling and make it less of a grind & probably much easier to implement for Bioware. Either way, nightmare to solve & they need to make sure they think it through properly before implementing a borked solution. Get this wrong and it will be curtains for many.
  22. might be wrong, & hate to burst your bubble if I am not, but fairly sure you can only have 1 at any one time. Best I thought pre 50 was to cap the commendations at 1000 & have 1 bag bought? Sucks I know, especially given the random element, but it is what it is. Please someone tell me I am wrong. Really would like Bioware to raise the commendation cap, not sure what harm it is preventing (is farming low level bracker for commendations worse for the PVP game than entering the 50 bracket unprepared and being stomped each time?)
  23. Not just related to commando's, but I feel the run of looting is almost always not in favour of the class you play. My commando regularly loots jedi gear, my jedi's have done well equipping my smuggler etc. Of course some of this is down to the fact that any loot drop could be for 1 of 4 classes (more if you include AC differences like sentinel vs guardian), so in theory thats at best a 25% chance of getting something that suits your class. Best options are to sell what you loot on the GTN to fund your own purchases, or to take a supporting crafting skill (armortech for your own gear, cybertech to keep oranges upgraded etc). I took armortech with my commando and have found that, with not much effort, I can keep myself well geared with close to level blue armour (which even matches). Supplement this with PVP armour at lvl 20 / 40 and your good to go.
  24. This. I went with medic at first and whilst it is true that it is better for finding FP's etc, rolling Assault with Elara healing feels much quicker for soloing. Very rarely any downtime, and equivalent level heroic 2's / champions are easily within reach (at least up to lvl 36 where I am now). Now that they have fixed her carbonite stream she even adds good CC. Easily the strongest solo class I have played yet with this set up.
  25. 11/29 here too and im in, just got email now 19:15 GMT wooooot!!!!!!!:)
