  1. well I have fun leveling up through PVP or through PVE. I would rather do the one that would benefit my character more though. Since custom war hero gear seems nice I might try that route although I know it would take ages. is the orange gear better than the purple? or just same stats but more elitist?
  2. so once you hit valor rank 40... is there any benefit to getting more valor?
  3. just wondering.. I haven't played in a few months. Since warzone commendations seem to cap at 2000.... and since you can't buy level 50 pvp items until you are level 50... is there any point to pvping before level 50 other than to complete the daily for the reward... and for experience and fun in general?
  4. As others have said... a merc 1 v 1 isn't so hot. Against a powertech the tech should win. A merc can rack up a lot of damage in a situation where they are left alone.. and can hit their tracers and AOE spells without interruption. But I believe a powertech is more valuable in groups. With their ability to guard... to grapple people... their superior tanking abilities and I would say superior CC abilities as well. Their damage isn't as great as a merc... so for PVE DPS a merc is going to be better. But in pvp you have to account for the CC and other things as well. I would say a powetech is FAR superior. And may even be one of the best pvp classes in the game.
  5. Judging by what? I am a merc... I routinely get top damage in the warzones I am in. But that doesn't mean anything. Mercs are great......... at attacking people who are attacking other people and not paying attention. And even though they are great at that... they are still crap compared to sorcerers... who get all those other little fun toys. Like sprint... Pulling friendlies to their location.... Interrupts.. ETC. Against skilled players though? Mercs are not so good. All they have to do is use their peripheral vision and use line of site to completely negate a merc who is attacking them. But I ask.. why does it have to be JUST like WoW? Why does casting have to be just like that. Why can't there be an actual target lock... an actual tracer... where a certain percentage of the way through a cast... it locks... it traces.. so if they run around a corner it goes off? In the grand scheme of things what would that actually do? Make mercs overpowered? Not really. It's actually only useful against healers who are simply healing back to full health. Healing classes which are already overpowered. but I am not going to whine about it. I am just saying it would be a good idea to change. to make it so that maybe 50% of the way through a cast... your cast will go off even if they move behind some object... but your spell can still get cancelled if you move or get interrupted.
  6. I have no problem with that... as long as they are in range of it at the beginning of the cast.
  7. All it takes for someone to completely negate the damage is to simply use an object. any object. and the warzone and worlds are full of them. Basically this makes it impossible to kill a healing class (who is skilled) because all they have to do is move around an object before your cast finishes. Why can't they make it so that if someone is in range and is in eligible for a cast to start... that it finishes even if they move? This doesn't make it OP because for you to cast a second time... you would still need to move to somewhere that is in line of site. It's just that making the spell break when they leave line of site makes it incredibly easy to make mercs close to useless.
  8. How can you even say that when the merc is similar to but clearly worse than a sorcerer? They do similar damage. They have similar survivability. They have similar CC. but the sorc also gets a sprint ability and an interrupt. The sorc is superior

  10. does nobody else notice how overpowered this class is? it's bordering on ridiculoussss. Basically the most powerful teams in SWTOR are going to be teams full of Powertechs and healers. Or at least half the non-healers will be Powertechs edit: accidentally said juggernauts instead of what I meant... powertechs.
  11. the only thing though.. is it might be difficult for pvp group queues to find a queue if they are separate in this. because then you would need to have FOUR premades to make one game and unless it was hutball they would have to be half on opposite factions. IMO a better idea is to have it so that if you queue in a group... you can only get in a game where the opposing team has a premade group of the same size. this lets independents still in the game but balances it more I think.
  12. Your reading isn't fine if you think what I was trying to say was you can't target a stealthed enemy. Read it again maybe? And why be against making target easier? Sure you say it's not that hard. But could it be a little easier which would make it a little faster? Yes. Without downsides? Yes. I hope the guy who said that it would complicate things in a group understands the flaw of his logic. If the game targets what your mouse is closest too... and that causes a problem in a group... then you will have that problem without any target helping as well. If you have a group of people and you click directly on an enemy... it would select that enemy.. (in both the current system and the proposed system) . However if you have a group of people and you select nearest the enemy you want.. then smart targetting will select that enemy. If you don't? Then guess what... you wouldn't have targetted the person you wanted in the current system either. It is really simple to understand.

". especially after an operative goes into stealth and I have to cast my probe to uncloak them... but then i have to target them again." . after they cloak and you break their stealth (Not stealthed anymore) through some AoE or probe for instance... targetting them again is a pain in the ***. And no it wouldn't make it worse in a crowded situation because the targetting system would give precedence to whatever you actually clicked on. So it wouldn't guess at all. in other words if there is just one guy on my screen.. and i left click my screen it should target them. If there are two guys... it should target the one i click closer too. What harm is that? It's not programmatically hard to do and it could even run on the clients side (like through an addon) so as not to put anything on the server side
  14. What part of what I said don't you understand? With multiple enemies on the screen tab just cycles through them. it doesn't magically arrive at the one you want. So when you need to target one particular person fast tab isn't usually the best method. Which leaves clicking on them. Clicking in this game is cumbersome... and there is no reason why you can't have a smarter system either by clicking around them and having it be smart....... or as boobafet said with tab simply selecting the nearest to where your cursor is. either will work.
