  1. Your guess is as good as mine. You and I agree on how we would go about doing this transition, but who knows if the left hand is talking to the right hand, per say. Also it is possible that they didn't forsee this causing any issues since essentially this is the same code just on different servers. Issue could be that the calls being made in the code could be set to a LOCAL server, which wouldn't work for the servers in the cloud. Which means quick fixing of code to make calls from the clouds servers to the EA servers. I mean, if NASA can burn up a Mars Rover because someone forgot to convert Imperial to Metric, I can see something like this happening.
  2. Well, the dev team is getting cut in half (80 cut down to ~40) and being sent to Broadsword (who has 10-25 employees, depending on whichever website you believe), so probably going to see more of this happen.
  3. I don't believe they have any control yet. The servers haven't fully moved over to their control. Only two have moved to the cloud and off of EA's servers and the domains for the websites are still owned by EA/Bioware. So I see you haven't played GTA: Online or used FiveM / RedM. Seriously though, it probably has something to do with the fact that not all the servers are moved to the cloud. I'm willing to bet either the servers on the EA servers or the Cloud servers are the ones creating the issue.
  4. According to the WayBack Machine sometime between August 16th and September 10th (and more likely, between August 31st and Sept 10th) Broadsword updated their website to list SWTOR as one of their games, and the picture they use for the slide image shows the Broadsword logo replacing the Bioware logo, however the SWTOR website itself has yet to be updated. Now, I think what is going on is the game is starting to transition between Bioware/EA and Broadsword. EA/Bioware is transferring servers one-by-one to the cloud and off of the EA servers. I believe that some SWTOR staff have moved to Broadsword to help with the move. Once the move to the cloud has been completed or just before the final move happens, then I expect we will get a form post. Depending on which website you believe, Broadsword Online Games has about 10-25 employees right now and a yearly gross income of less than $5 million. News articles say that about 40 of the 80 total SWTOR employees are going to Broadsword. Logically to support that number of new employees, SWTOR should be bringing in double to triple what Broadsword makes off of the two MMORPGs they have now, combined. In any case, I feel that we won't hear from Broadsword until they are about to fully take over SWTOR from Bioware and that means right around the time of the final server being moved to the cloud. Until we hear from Broadsword, we won't know what the future holds for SWTOR. Just because the current team over at bioware is planning certain things, doesn't mean that will hold true once the game is transitioned to a new company. I'd give it a 'wait and see' approach. We probably won't know anything until November or December.
  5. Oh look, Disney just announced they are letting people sign up for 3 months of Disney+ Basic for $1.99/mo. Then $7.99/mo Huh. Looks like a desperate attempt to increase subscription numbers. You know they will use the subscriber increase as proof to the investors that "the site is doing great". What they won't say how many of those subscribers are just there for the cheap introductory offer. One more day until D23, where we learn if Ahsoka gets a season 2 or not.
  6. My response below: Now as for my review: Ahskoa is....fine. It doesn't thrill me, it doesnt make me itch to see the next episode. It's like a meal of plain white rice. It will fill you up but it doesn't excite you or satisfy. You are not looking forward to the next meal of plain white rice. I watched the first two episodes to give this show a fair chance. I haven't watched episode 3 or 4 nor will I be doing so. the writers had their chance to capture my attention, they failed to do so. I'm not interested in Ahsoka which is kinda sad since I was looking forward to a good Jedi-based live action Star Wars show (Obi-Wan should have been a 1 1/2 hour movie so I was disapointed with it). Don't take what I'm about to say as an insult to your feelings about the show. It's how I feel, and this isn't a personal attack. You are not going to change my mind by saying "Well you just didn't watch the cartoons so that's why you don't get it and are stupid". Spin offs and shows based on previous media (movies, books and so on) work fine, if they don't require the audiance to 'do homework' and watch multiple other shows to understand the characters in this show. Anyway, on with my review.... So that's my thoughts. I'd also say that if we back up and look at the bigger picture, the question should be: Is "Ahsoka", "The Little Mermaid", "Elementals", "Loki, Season 2" and "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" enough to draw in new D+ subscribers or even just keep the subscribers they have? (source) D+ is increasing their subscription price from $10.99 to $13.99 in October, a 27% increase (source). Since May, they have removed ~30 shows as well as 20 movies and specials and the only shows and movies I listed above really seem like the kind of content that would draw in or keep people subscribed. (source) Bob Iger also announced that they’ll be cracking down on password sharing, making it impossible to split the cost of Disney+ with friends or family. I just wonder if this show and the others I listed would keep the subscriber numbers from slipping.
  7. I'm going to also ask for Loth-Cat pets. Please.

  10. I know a lot of people will just "spacebar" skip through a lot of story dialog but I'm trying to really enjoy the story lines and get into the game. Something I noticed did start to frustrate me. It shouldn't be a suprise as a lot of games seem to do this, but it is still frustrating. NPCs offer all these grand claims for completing a quest... and deliver either something very underwhelming or just nothing at all. Everytime you help someone to "make a fortune" (though you are doing all the work) your cut of the 'fortune' isn't enough to cover the cost of some of the planetary travel/landing fares or quick travel. As a force-user, someone says they are sending you on a quest for a very powerful and mystical item, hidden away for thousands of years and hundreds who have come before you have all died trying to retrieve this powerful thing....and it ends up being either a green weapon slightly better than your own that you will end up replacing in the next 30 minutes or so of game time, or you get an item you can give to your companion...something you could end up buying from a companion gift vendor for 200 credits. Example with minor spoilers: I'm not saying that we need to make millions. I get the balancing issues involved here. The writing and the actual rewards for the quests feel like they were done by two teams with no one reviewing the finished product of the dialog and the in-game rewards and then stopping to think "Does this make sense?". I mean, the easy way to fix the smuggler not actually getting wealth would have been a back story that the smuggler was deep in debt and the fortune made was immediately used to pay of those debts. The few grand you received in game was what was left over after your debts were paid. The credits were a final insult to you by your creditors. "Go buy something nice for yourself...dont' spend it all in once place" kind of send off. At least that would make sense. Maybe some other vanity items and trinkets or decorations for your stronghold from the hiest. All the big talk of the NPC dialog turns out to be hot air...over and over and over. After a while, the impact of the dialog just holds zero excitment as there is no real payoff. You end up rolling your eyes and saying "Yeah, sure" when promised an amazingly powerful whatsit or a 'mountain of credits'. I guess a couple thousand credits is a mountain of credits ... from a certain point of view (perhaps that of an ant). Sure, I get it, game's been out for over a decade. It's a balancing issue, they can't have one class making lots of credits verse other classes. I understand they aren't going to fix stuff like this either, game is too old, voice acting is done...it is what it is. I feel the writing team over-used 'big promises, no delivery' which is disappointing. It leaves you with that feeling empty. Like there was this epic event for you and you end up with a pack of chewing gum. Now it feels like all the NPC talk is overblown hot air. You find yourself just wanting to start smashing the space bar and get to the wheel of choices ASAP. You start treating the storyline like a flashpoint and are just racing to level up and complete the final chapter because...well...none of it matters especially as none of the choices you make have any effect on the expansions besides maybe romance options. Sure. That's the payoff. If we had something to see in our stronghold, we'd be reminded of the story on how we got that thing. Like the fake gem from chapter 1. Could have been a neat item that could have been put on a pedestal to show off. A wall mount to show off "Torchy". Just something so it feels like we actually earned something from the missions. The potential for class-specific decorations really was missed. Sorry to gripe, just be nice if they had either toned down the promises, made a 'debt' your character had to pay off so it made sense why you were not really getting anything, or simply made rewards that fit the dialog. If they are suggesting we would get an amazing thing, then a blue slotted weapon or a full set of armor or couple hundred thousand credit. Not breaking things but also fitting with what the NPC is promising.
