  1. Never had a complaint in 5 years of raiding with WoW. If you are running instances with your guild, you should be in a guild were the person chosen as master looter is fair. Ours is actually done by council, officers discuss who needs the piece more based on what they have and who got what piece of gear last. The problem with the game deciding is that it doesn't really know what to do. Even if they set it up to give heal heavy stats to people that are heal specced, the game has no way of knowing if that's the gear I want. Maybe I specced that way because we are short of healers and I was helping my guild out one time. Maybe I am gathering mats for a new piece that is better than what dropped and I wish my guildies got the drop instead. There are many reasons why the game deciding who gets what will not work. And for those that like the system the way it is, I am not saying take it away from you, I am just saying that those of us that HATE it should be able to choose which loot option we want. If you are running a pug group with me, and I pick a loot option you don't like, you can make the choice to ask me to change it or not run with me. As it is, I don't want to run at all. You can say that the point of playing the game is not raiding to get loot, but it really has a big impact on what we do. If you take away my chances of getting loot or make someone get the same piece over and over, you are eliminating the need for anyone to run an instance more than once. If there is no reward, there is no reason to run it multiple times. So, now we're done with the game. If there is a reward, we will keep running it until we get everyone what they want and it will keep us busy longer, interested in the game longer, and buy more time for the devs to make new content. If you make the raids in a way that we are doing something repetitively with very little chance we will EVER see a drop we want or need AND force us to watch people who don't want or need the piece get it, it's just too darn discouraging. As I said in another post, it's like watching the lactose intolerant kid get the last of the ice-cream and you get to watch him watch it melt because he can't eat it.
  2. There's a lot of posts that are saying they should not add the /roll because of ninja looters. I was trying to explain that the /roll that we are talking about is not the need/greed. That just because someone types /roll and gets a higher number doesn't mean that the 'ninja' roller is going to get the gear.
  3. Ok, I have read through the forums and I have seen people's opinion on this. I think there is a lot of misunderstanding about this system. First, when people are saying they want the /roll option they are talking about being able to type /roll and the game will give us a number and who ever has the highest number loots the boss. This is different than the 'need' 'greed' 'deconstruct' options. With the need/greed option, this is where you CAN have a problem with ninja looters in the game. They can roll on an item that is for their pet and get it over someone who needs it for their own gear. With the /roll option, the way I have used it in guild is that if we have 3 members that need it, they type /roll and whoever rolls the highest gets the gear. Whoever is master looter gives the person that won the roll the item, and this means you don't have to worry about someone that 'needs' an item and the game giving it to them. The master looter won't give it to someone that is rolling on gear they don't need. Another example, say we have 4 people that can use/need an item and one of them just got a drop, we let them know they can't roll as they just got a drop and the remaining 3 roll. This eliminates miss-clicks on the need/greed system and prevents people from ninja looting. I understand how you think the current system works for PUGS but it really doesn't. In a pug, the current system isn't taking peoples' specs into account AND the system has no way of knowing if a person plans on respeccing. It's giving dps gear to healers and vise versa. Even if you set it up to take spec into account, you have no idea what a person's plans in the future are. Maybe someone is specced dps for a run to help out but is really after healing gear as a main spec, the dps spec gear is wasted on them. Maybe they are working on crafting a piece of gear better than the drop and don't want what dropped. They have no option to pass. You can say that a person shouldn't run a different spec, but some of us like to respec but don't want to take gear from people that use it as a main spec. As for PUGS, most not all, most people end up in a guild and if they do, they should pick a guild that they like and they trust the officers loot decisions. And even for PUGS, you quickly learn who is a jerk on a server and know not to run with said jerk. I have found even the people that are not in guilds end up pugging with the same people on their server, the ones they like. And if you do join a group with a known jerk, they know not to let that person be master looter. At least give us the option of turning off the current loot system and using master looter and giving us a /roll in game. This will make everyone happy. The people that are worried about ninja looters and the people that prefer master loot. If we have the option we can use or not use it. I have 8 ticked off guildies that got gear they didn't want over people that did want it on their first few runs in NM and they are not geared enough for hard modes. It's discouraging to go on a run to have fun and get lottos and then have the lottos go to someone else. It is mostly about the fight, but getting a nice piece of loot makes it just a little more fun. Watching said loot go to someone that doesn't want it is kind of like giving the lactose intolerant kid the ice-cream and letting the other kid watch him eat it.
  4. Same. It would be helpful instead of accidentally discovering how to craft things. I didn't know how to discover new patterns until it I had already sold all my low level crafted items. Just stuff like that is all I would like.
  5. I don't even see a problem with ML in a pug. When you join a pug, you can find out if the leader is master looter, if he is and you don't feel comfortable with it, you can ask him to change it or leave the PUG. This random system doesn't take into whether someone may have a piece of gear in their bags or bank that is better than the drop. It may give it to someone who is crafting themselves a better piece of gear over a person that actually needed the drop. What about people who get more than one drop in the same run, this doesn't even allow them to pass on it. Please change this. It's RUINING raids in this game. And for anyone who thinks we should just do FFA and then have appointed person pick it up, how many times have you seen someone not pay attention and pick up a BOP item? And since BW customer service won't take the BOP item from the person that got it and give it to the correct person, this makes that even worse.
  6. One other suggestion to you guys that are on servers with high populations. Create a character on another server that is an alt, not another main. Such as you have a warrior on one server, create an agent on another. Only play the alt when your server's queue time is too long and then play your main when server times are low, just until the servers get worked out. Then after Bioware adds the ability to transfer characters, you can transfer your alt to the server your main and you guild is on. This way you get to play and you are not creating the same character over and over on different servers. Good luck to you guys.
  7. Because guilds in those servers have members just getting on or into the game. Keep in mind that many of these guilds were sent to a specific server prior to launch. Not everyone in the guild started on the same day, which means they have members still joining a server. I'd be more ticked it 2/3 of my guildies couldn't even CREATE a character on my server that I was put onto than I would be about the 10-30 minute queue times. I know you guys are upset, but relax a bit. These things will work themselves out, this is normal for even established mmo developers. Anyone remember WoW and the queues with Sunwell and WOTLK? I remember lag so bad that I couldn't move off Sunwell at all. And I wasn't on a high population server to start with then. Right now everyone is logging on every second that they can until they level. Once people max out, the number of people that are logging in will slow down. They have already said they are adding more servers AND that they have lowered population caps during this process to ensure equal distribution among servers. Considering that when I played WoW we started on a high population server and were asked to leave as a guild to a low population server, this isn't a new thing on MMO's. You know something I have seen in this game that I haven't seen in other MMO's? Very little lag and great fps. I have the MINIMUM required video card and I have 60+ fps. I have only had lag twice, both times were less than 15 minutes. I haven't seen people mob camping, I haven't had to compete for quest items. Usually with an MMO launch or expansion, not only do you have long queues, you also have terrible latency, and terrible time getting quest items. With these rolling starts, lower server caps, etc, we haven't seen too much of this. I am sure that Bioware will even this out soon and I am sure that in the future, character transfers will be allowed. Right now they are watching to see how many servers they need to add etc. It will get worked out. Patience young padewans.
  8. Or they are in a guild and they would have to have a lot of people more to a new server and start over. We didn't pick the server, we were assigned to it and it shouldn't be full prior to game launch. I am looking at the server list, there are a lot that are showing full.
  9. I messed up my character complexion can I change this later in game?
  10. Actually, if you were to get ****ed, I am sure you would be appreciative and count yourself lucky that someone bothered to **** you.
  11. No, my main selling point to pre-ordering was to have the game on launch day. Just like it is with any other game.
  12. I am not in yet. You know what? I'm ok with that. Thanks Bioware for creating this game. Thanks for the rolling starts. I think this is a great idea! Really, I do. Why? Because I have played other games at launch, I have played other games when expansions came out. It always sucked because the servers couldn't handle everyone signing in right at midnight when the game launched. So far, not a member in my guild has had a problem getting in. No wait times, no game crashes, no screen freezes. This also means that not EVERYONE that starts this game will be in the exact same area at the exact same time (say midnight on launch day). This means you don't have to sit and wait for mobs to respawn, quest items to respawn. I love that you set it up this way. I hate that people feel entitled to something. I don't care if you paid $60, $75, $150 for the game. Everyone who bought the game, gets their first 30 days free and all their extra goodies. Early game access does not need to be part of your purchase price. Early game access is something Bioware gave people. Other games didn't do that or if they did it was a mere 24 hours. Boo hoo, you didn't get in yet. Boo hoo someone will reach 50 before you. The point of the game is to play it and enjoy it. Does anyone remember who got to cap level first in any other game? No. So your dreams of eternal glory by reaching 50 first are not shattered by you not getting in first. No one will remember you anyway. Do I think that anyone has an advantage over me by getting in first? Nope, cause my game play will still be the same after I do get in. I will have fun. And this is coming from someone who paid the $150 for the collector's edition. I don't feel entitled to get anything other than what the purchase description said I would. Suck it up babies! Thanks Bioware!
