  1. If you look at the tanking abilities from all the other classes, including our "mirror" the tropper, it seems the majority of "tanking" abilities are close range. It goes back to all the other mmo's before swtor that a tank needs to be the class fighting toe to toe with the mob. That being said, besides rocket punch, alot of our Powertech attacks do give us a 10m range, which means we can rocket punch, back up to 10m, and continue to tank. So we can still range tank, just not as much as we would like. It's still better then Jugg's who have almost zero ranged abilities
  2. You sir, are now my hero. WoW has ruined the mindest of today's mmo players. I miss Everquest for this very reason
  3. and if your playing a marauder who doesn't do those shenanigans, please come to my server and teach the other marauders to play better
  4. Thanks to the last two posters, but I think you missed the point of this thread. I don't mind dps pulling aggro off of me, I can deal with that, Threatening Scream is great to taunt everything around me, and I switch targets to that mob and build up threat, easy. I'm talking about marauders who believe they can tank, by pulling mobs away from my range, that I have to go chasing after the mob that they decided to off tank. Or pulling bosses on their own, and yelling at the healer for not healing them.
  5. It should be common sense, but doesn't seem to be. I have been leveling as a Sith Juggernaut specced as Immortal, I level as a tank, and I do flashpoints as a tank. My whole role and intent is to tank, which is why I chose juggernaut at level 10 and not marauder. I am starting to see a trend in flashpoint when there is a marauder player, where they believe that they are also a tank. Taunting mobs off of me to offtank them, starting the pulls themselves, even on bosses... Lets set the record straight, you are not a tank. You are a melee dps class. Please don't get offended. That is your role. Leave the tanking to the Juggernauts, the powertechs, and the assassins. If you want to off tank a mob in aoe pulls of weak and strong mobs, go ahead, thats fine. But when it comes to elites and bosses, your putting too much strain on the healer, and making it harder for the "real" tank.
  6. I hope that the Bioware devs actually get to see this post before it gets lost to the trolls. From seeing the current state of the forums, I can certainly see that a lot of people are unhappy with how early access has been handled. As an IT technician, I can relate, this is pretty much par for the course, as there will always be more complaints then there are letters of appreciation. So to you Bioware devs, Thank you for an excellent job over the past six years. I have been playing Bioware games for as long as you have been creating them and I am still impressed with each game that you make. I was able to beta test The Old Republic on a few occasions and its nice to see your product has evolved over the last few months. I know you have put a lot of time and effort into creating it and I was impressed the first beta weekend that I was able to attend, and was even further impressed when the stress test came along. And now, to the rest of the forum members. I have been in the mmo community for many decades. I have tested and played a good number of them, even going as far back as being a beta tester for EverQuest and I can say the same for EQ2, Lineage 2, Shadowbane, DaoC, Anarchy Online, Eve Online, SWG, and World of Warcraft. Back in the early days of mmo's, we had a general rule of thumb. "Don't judge an MMORPG (the old acronym) in its first month of play". Back in those days, it was a pretty good bet that you wouldn't get to play for the first month because of all the server problems and bugs. I can understand that World of Warcraft has created a new generation of mmo players that don't feel the same way and aren't as patient. I understand that you pre-ordered the game and you want to play as soon as you can. But keep this in mind. Have you ever been to a Boxing Day sale at Best Buy? If you don't line up at 6am, your not getting any deals. Early Access is the same deal, if you didn't jump and pre-order as soon as possible, why are you expecting to get in on day one of EGA? As I said before, I am an IT Technician, and I have managed quite a number of large scale projects in my time. Both software and hardware related deployments, and I can say that without a doubt, a staggered launch is the only way to guarantee that a vast majority of bugs are worked out. So my only advice is to be patient, and remember, a few days to wait can mean less server crashes in the future. So once again, to Stephen Reid and all the devs, Job well done. TLDR: Thanks Bioware, Excellent Job
