  1. As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm a recently returned player. Just got my fresh new JK to the dramatic duel with Praven on Tatooine (love that location, by the way!) and it was there that I ran across the first big glitch I've seen so far. Every time he moved around the stage during our conversation, for some reason, the front and back of Praven's loincloth were acting like they were attached to the points he was moving toward or away from. So if he walked toward me, the front cloth would start stretched out horizontally toward me and slowly get reeled in, while the back cloth would gradually stretch out behind him. It was all rather distracting. I don't remember seeing this happen when I ran this quest before on the same machine. Perhaps it's a glitch that got introduced with the new engine?
  2. Your public-facing IP address (which I assume is what needs to be changed in this instance) is usually managed by your internet provider. Restarting your modem may cause your provider to give you a new IP address. I can't say for sure whether that will help, as I haven't tried it myself yet.
  3. Interesting. Changing my IP address will mean a modem reboot, which will have to wait until my wife is done using the internet ... I'll give it a try if things haven't been fixed by then.
  4. For anyone else who happens across this thread, please follow this other (slightly pre-existing) thread for updates on this issue: Game Launches but Does not Take me to Character Select Screen
  5. Thank you @OwenBrooks. I for one am hoping we'll receive more than just a "you can log in now" response. The game really needs two improvements: Fix whatever's causing Star Forge to go down (obviously), and Add a setting to the launcher to allow server selection at launch, so we can still play the game even if the last server we were playing on is down. I can't speak for everyone, but I'm not likely to continue paying for a game that won't let me play at my convenience.
  6. So many times? If there's a known problem that hasn't been fixed for months, that's certainly a problem. It's another problem entirely that the launcher gives us no way to select a different server. It means we can't play if our preferred server is down. That's just bad design. I wonder if it's possible to hack the .INI file to avoid being automatically logged into a server that isn't responding... EDIT: ... Apparently not. I tried removing the .INI file with that info, and it was replaced with the same information once I launched the game.
  7. Almost two months since that was posted, and it seems they have yet to come up with a permanent fix. Hmm. ... Also, it looks like that thread was unpinned just yesterday. May have been jumping the gun there.
  8. Were you last playing on Star Forge? As mentioned above, that server is down at the moment (and for the past hour or so at least, it seems).
  9. I just (merely three days ago!) re-installed and re-subbed to see how the game plays with the combat styles update. Of course I'm on Star Forge, since that's the server I've been using since way back when. This is giving me a very bad first impression of the current state of SWTOR.
