Of course, the FF situation is a unique kind of thing where Square Enix stepped up to the responsability to its players. It just seems like a waste to have this sort of resurgence of content for Star Wars media, Disney's budget pulling the cart (...for better or worse) and the announcement of the "remake" of KOTOR, and not think of the possibilities. Then again, not being part of the production I can only speak from a point of view of wantings and not of knowledge. Well, in part this goes hand in hand, no? I don't think SWTOR is precisely lacking in content, but more in the depths of the one it already has. But besides that, what I meant is that a relaunch under new, improved conditions (engine, graphic style, gameplay, etc) would invite a new player base, reinvigorate the old and appeal for new investment in content since it'll be profitable. Again... Mr. Speculation here talking xD

Hello everyone, new here in the forums but have been an on/off player for a bit over 10 years now. Wanted to create a healthy discussion on the viability, production and longterm investment of having a Game Engine Overhaul for SWTOR. I am quite aware of the substantial costs and overall complications for the devs to engage in such a process, but I can't stress enough the improvements this would make, not to mention the appeal for new players. SWTOR is a game with a fantastic time-period setup, story, lore and healthy player community. Certain visual aspects, character creation looks, textures, effects and such, have quite a different level of quality from one another and it cheapens the game. I know the Game UI has been modified and improved, the cutscenes have been given a BioWare cinematic look, but none of it is on a truly game-changing level. I make comparison to "Final Fantasy XIV" and their development history. From shutting down the servers and remaking the game, to becoming one of the most succesful mmorpgs of our time. This would be, in my humble opinion, the best course of action for SWTOR longterm life.
