  1. I have been playing Devil's Advocate quite a lot for the upcoming expansion, but this time I cannot. Funny enough, I think this might be a change that some aren't really bothered by, unlike others presented to us in 7.0, but I still feel the need to tell my gripes with it. You may call it nit picking, but so far it's the first thing that really got to me. I get into all of the activities that exist in this game, except for GSF(sorry GSF peeps ). But at the forefront, I always enjoy the journey Bioware has created with the story, and I mean all story aspects, be them side, exploratory, heroic quests etc.. You'll find me searching for people to do the Seeker Droid and Macrobinacular quests on almost all of my characters. And I am that weirdo you may have seem on occasion asking for people to join him in the Colicoid War Game flashpoint. I'm just that sort of a guy, not really a full-on completionist, but I enjoy the world building in this game and all the aspects that add to it through ALL story elements. All this being said, I can't believe that I only have 8 Veteran Flashpoints I can do per week using the GF. I mean I guess they did this because most people would spam Hammer Station or Red Reaper, but for someone like myself that used to take each of my characters through all the Flashpoints available in this game, at least once, this is a joke. I used to just have to look for groups for Colicoid War Game or for Kaon Under Siege and Lost Island if we go a couple months back. Now I have to look for a group for all of them to play on Veteran if I am unlucky? I know for sure I am not alone in this weird aspect because I've met plenty of peeps who follow different guides online to get into the story of the game and are doing the Flashpoints in a certain order posted on those respective forums. Now if the "next in line" Flashpoint is not available on the GF, people will skip it and not go back to them. People were doing all the Operations regardless, even though when the GF actually worked for Operations, some were focusing on the ones listed there. But you would also manage to find groups for all of them in any event. But now to start spamming General chat for a certain Veteran Flashpoint I want to do? As I said, maybe I'm one of the few blokes who is irritated by this, but it really annoyed me more than a lot of other things for the upcoming expansion.
  2. I understand all the complaints listed here by everyone. Yet with all this taken into account, still, 50% of the people I encounter and talk about these specific changes to the loot system find them appealing. And not just the "I'm okay with it" type of response, but more towards the "Jesus Christ they are finally scrapping the 6.0 **** and finally making different tiers of gear from different activities." Honestly, I usually tend to see what exactly will be happening when the expansion comes out to throw out my opinion on new gearing systems. From what I've read, I don't find it that unappealing myself. But maybe when actually experimenting with it, I'll find out the error of my thinking.
  3. Maybe it's because you have not completed any quest but that should not be the problem. I honestly don't know. Make a ticket in-game and submit it so that the mods can help you out. I really don't know what's causing this.
  4. This is very weird. What are the flashpoints that are available? And what status are you(free-to-play, preferred, subscribed)?
  5. Hey there, mate. To answer your last question, with chapter 3 comes the end of the class stories. As such, the remaining Operations, Flashpoints, daily areas up until Rise of the Hutt Cartel are going to be pretty much the same per your faction. Ilum as well, which serves as an epilogue for the original story of the game. There will still be some different dialogue depending on your class, but the story will have no significant changes. Afterwards, the expansion Rise of the Hutt Cartel has 2 separate storylines, depending on your faction, Empire or Republic. I think in terms of time, I think doing the Republic story on Makeb first is the way to go, and then finishing it off with the Empire story. The rest of the content in the expansion makes no difference because even though you talk to different NPCs and stuff, the challenges you face will be the same so you can just proceed in any way you like. After that, Shadow of Revan, Knights of the Fallen Empire and Knights of the Eternal Throne follow the same storyline, no matter your faction. At this point you can just do the story with one character because it's the same(maybe your favorite). However, it is true that you will still have different dialogue depending on your class, and obviously, your faction. Furthermore, especially during Shadow of Revan, you will have more interactions with the NPCs from your faction, even though you still have the same story. This is very different from the planet Makeb from Rise of the Hutt Cartel, which has a very different story depending on your faction. The last part of the KotET expansion is basically the planet Ossus which serves as a Prelude to Onslaught a.k.a. the Jedi Under Siege storyline. Starting on Ossus, your stories will once again separate depending on your faction and it will be the same for the Onslaught expansion. One last thing I forgot to mention is that in the Shadow of Revan expansion, on the first planet, Rishi, there is actually a quest that is a class mission. So every class has a different interaction which is related to their original class story in the base game. As to the first part of your question, it is not very easy to determine. The class stories basically take place at the same time so the temporal difference is very small. The only thing that you can say are different are the exact moment at which the chapters end or begin. I think for the Empire the safest order is Bounty Hunter>Sith Warrior>Sith Inquisitor>Imperial Agent. For the Republic I think the Jed Knight is the one you should end it with, but I can't really say for the order of the other 3.
  6. Personally I can't offer any concrete information about the NA servers because I play on Darth Malgus. However the RP community here is still quite okay, especially on the imp side. Still plenty of people trying their hand at doing events here and there and building a community. And I've seen some discussions both here and on the subreddit about different RP topics so I guess you will definitely find people to RP with if that is your wish. Again, I'm sorry for not offering anything really concrete, just some basic information.
  7. As you said, it is quite difficult especially for the characters that have an option to be killed. Probably one of the more popular characters people would love to see return is Lord Cytharat, but for this same reason he will most likely not make any more appearances. The only way something like this will happen is if they do it with a major character, so other "episodic" characters are not going to grace us with their presence most likely. And indeed they have been making great efforts to diverse their possible character outcomes. I mean depending on your playthrough even as a Sith, you can kill 3 of the 5 Dark Council members. And this diversity further applies to even characters like Senya, Arcann, Theron, Koth, Gnost-Dural etc.. Honestly, I think this took balls from Bioware as basically, now they have to diversify future cutscenes to include player choices. That is quite difficult to achieve. You can always have Lana be at the forefront and it would work, but you still have to include some of the other "main players" if they are still around. I'm just afraid they might write themselves in a corner due to all these possible outcomes.
  8. I would have enjoyed to have something that acts as a prelude to 7.0, as each expansion up until this point had such a thing(well, maybe except for RotHC). I also am kind of confused because each expansion until now opened up with the main thing for that specific content update(RotHC had Makeb and the dealings with the Hutts, KotFE had everything with Valkorion and his Eternal Empire, Onslaught had the main conflicts in the Third Galactic War between the Empire and the Republic etc.). But it seems that the expansion entitled LEGACY OF THE SITH, starts off on Manaan and just continues more of the Onslaught storyline. I love me some Empire on Republic action don't get me wrong, and I definitely want to see where it leads, but where is the Sith part of it? Unless we discover some ancient hidden lore on Manaan or something...
  9. I think the issue is fixed because, although it took a while, I did manage to connect to Darth Malgus and see my character list. Haven't logged in yet, just wanted to let you all know.
  10. I just experienced something like this and I posted about on the subreddit. Here is my post from there: "I was just playing on Darth Malgus 10 minutes ago and I suddenly got DCed from the server. Afterwards, it won't connect to either Darth Malgus or Tulak Hord or The Leviathan, but I can connect without any issues to both Satele Shan and Star Forge. Anyone else experiencing this? It's a premiere for me." And someone just replied that they had the same issue on Darth Malgus.
  11. Not only what Tsillah said just above me, but the problem is that I think the possibility of playing "as you always have" might be thrown out the window if in certain areas of content, people will be forced to adhere to even stricter METAs. In another post there were some people discussing about how to go around the "unable to change loadout inside an ops or fp" by going outside to change it, then coming back in so everyone can do exactly "what is required of them" to make boss fights even easier.
  12. Honestly, I guess it depends on luck. Overall the SWTOR community in all its aspects is better then a lot of other MMOs, however you will find your "douches" around here as well. However, I do think that people doing RP in most video games are pretty cool blokes. Worst case scenario, I think that if there are RP guilds recruiting, maybe you won't be accepted in some scenarios because some won't want to take the time to teach you or show you the ropes or stuff like that. I guess it's like those guilds who are in the phase of just recruiting people for Veteran Operations and are not in the mood to run Story mode with people to show them and teach them or help them gear up. However there are guilds who want to start or who already have an RP community and have no qualms with inexperienced people and welcome both old and new to this area. Most time I think they will even say in their advertisement that it's a medium-RP guild(meaning you don't have to be a hardcore RPer) or that "new RPers are welcome".
  13. Dude... First of all, I felt it was redundant to write that for pub characters, the first two flashpoints from the Forged Alliances storyline are switched. Second of all, I did not forget to write Oricon, it's not part of the "core story" of the game. The entire Dread War, apart from the beginning which takes place on Belsavis' imp side, is told through Operations, Daily Areas or the Seeker Droid questline. Third of all, I thought it might overcomplicate things to say that there are SOME things you will not be locked out of, as I presume the main purpose of Netmaat is to try and complete the story in order, and not come back and do it afterwards. As such it doesn't matter if Ilum and Makeb can be done later.
  14. This last part of your comment is what worries me. People will expect you to stealth through every bit of group content from now on, or else they will kick you from the party if you don't comply. I still stand by the opinion that the SWTOR community still is one of the better ones out there, however recently the number of people who don't abide even by small mistakes or not getting their way in flashpoints and operations is getting worrisome. The other day I was in a flashpoint with two Sith Assassins, and probably one of them was newer at the game or at that class, and he wasn't using Mind Trap on the required NPCs to quickly skip every fight. Without even a single word being uttered in chat, the vote to kick came. This might all be speculation and I dearly hope that what I say won't come to pass, but I am worried about how some others worded it in a previous post of mine, the "stealth elitism" and honestly just elitism in general.
  15. Well, there isn't a place where let's say, you get the complete story written as a summary, but there are I guess some sites that can give you a clearer image. https://www.reddit.com/r/swtor/wiki/story => Over here you get everything in order and a few words here and there about what happens, but without spoilers obviously. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Timeline_of_galactic_history/Legends#Inter-Sith_Wars_period => I guess you can also check out this timeline of galactic history from Wookiepedia. It has the main moments of the story with bullet points. Far from what anyone would consider a summary, but I think it contains some nice information. The Inter-Sith Wars period starts over 300 years before the beginning of the game. So just scroll down to around 3681 BBY to when the Great Galactic War begins and go from there I would say to get some backstory on the war as well. Of course you could read from even further behind like 5100 BBY to see about the early days of the Sith Empire, and just read the bullet points of the things that actually interest you. Have fun!
  16. Hello there, mate. Hope you are enjoying the game! This message is not posted because you MUST have missed something. If you have done every single thing in the game, the message will still appear to you. It's just a warning that you should check again and make sure you did everything because this is a point of no return. So in other words, the message appears no matter what just so that you can be 100% sure that you want to advance. But for orientation's sake, here are the things that you need/should complete before starting the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion: Class Story => Ilum => Makeb => Assault on Tython => Incursion on Korriban => Depths of Manaan => Legacy of the Rakata => Rishi => Yavin IV => Ziost These form the "core story" of the game. There are plenty of other stuff to do like different flashpoints, operations, questlines, but if doing the "core story" is what you want, just make sure you did the ones I wrote earlier.
  17. Well this is what I'm kind of worried about. I want a game in which my playstyle(whatever class, specialization or discipline I choose) is acceptable and have the ability to play it. Not a game where I have to adapt my playstyle to very specific norms so I can "get in on the action". These combat styles sounded really good at first. And I was actually pleasantly surprised that they thought about this considering many people wanted to wield a sniper rifle as a Bounty Hunter and all other examples, but this loadouts business might fracture the community once again...
  18. I also dabbled in PnP RPGs and I understand how it can feel weird at times hehe. Since the pandemic started, I'm actually playing DnD using DnDBeyond and Foundry VTT so we don't have to gather in places and do it online. It feels a bit weird at times, but I've gotten used to it and I must say I enjoy it. Here are some screenshots just to see how it looks: https://ibb.co/D9w2bM4 https://ibb.co/s1068j7 https://ibb.co/JCTHWqf As for the non-ERP, that comes from non-Erotic Roleplay. Basically people who want to "ERP" also want the guild to make available romances between characters. So basically maybe you want your character to develop a relationship with another person in that guild. I'm guessing some might even want some sex-chatting involved. I have never done anything like that. I once was in a relationship in DnD with an NPC and my Dungeon Master had to kind of RP that but there was nothing steamy about it. xD
  19. I get that the specs in WoW are more complex than the disciplines in SWTOR, but I still feel that completely changing your entire class is on another level above that.
  20. Yes, you are thinking about it in a right way, but you are not completely there. You don't have to take your main character and start RPing with that one specifically. You can have your main character, be a Dark Council member with that one, or the Grand Champion of the Great Hunt etc., and you can make a side character that you use to imagine a different story and "implant" that character into an RP guild. With this RP character, maybe you don't even care about the story Bioware made, because you are doing something totally different with other people and organizing it, you just level up to get different abilities or maybe titles like "Lord" or "Knight of the Republic". Unless people come into SWTOR from the get-go ready to do a heavy RP playthrough, I doubt there are players who are just getting into RP and decide to do it with their main, several years old, character. They do indeed make a new one. Maybe they have too many Sith Warriors and Sith Inquisitors and explored almost every avenue of story with these classes, and would like to try and experience something new. And you are 100% correct about the fact that everyone, even the non-RPers, have been doing RP with the class stories and expansion stories themselves. Of course there are some players that don't even pay attention to the story, they skip cutscenes and all that, but most people actually think about the dialogue options and what they want their characters to say and do. Furthermore, maybe there are some players that do even more RP within the class story. What do I mean by this? Maybe after finally defeating Revan on Yavin IV, they imagine that they actually have a longer conversation with Satele Shan, not just that 2 minute epilogue. Or maybe they imagine holding a debriefing with their crew back on their ship. You can say that they are expanding the story given by Bioware to make it feel more complex or genuine, and not necessarily building something completely different with a RP guild. Example of an "RP event" I just saw a short while ago. I just made a new SIth Inquisitor and was doing the class story on Korriban and I went to the second floor of the Sith Academy to learn new abilities from the trainer. When I walked in, there must have been like 20 people doing an RP event. There were two guys in front who had awesome looking gear on them, one was a Darth, the other just a Lord, and about 18 other players who just had that Korriban beginning gear on them, and they were all acolytes. And the Darth was holding a speech about the Dark Side and the Force and all that. Really nice moment. Of course I quickly went to the trainer and got my abilities and left as to not disturb them too much. At the end of the day, when people say "RP is not for everyone", it's not meant as "You suck, you can't do RP" or something insulting like that(even though some douches say it like that). "RP is not for everyone" in my opinion means that some people don't want to imagine another story or "waste" time spending hours with other players and not actually playing the game, but just sit around talking and imagining things. Some people take as much enjoyment in that as they do in actually playing the game and don't mind it, others don't.
  21. I don't think this is what the community was actually asking for. Granted, what was asked was probably impossible to do for the developer team. I think the SWTOR community wanted the classes to be combined more, as some in other posts have described talking about having a SI that can also choke people, or combining some abilities from the IA with some from the BH. This does grant people the chance to make your Sith Assassin be the Emperor's Wrath or your Bounty Hunter to carry a sniper rifle, but it's not more than that. It is better than nothing I'll grant you that. I'm just worried that classes really lose their individuality. I don't mind them being intertwined but this is completely erasing them in certain cases. Also a compromise the community will have to do is not ***** about the fact that their Sith Inquisitor that is actually a Sith Marauder is shooting lightning at everyone during cutscenes.
  22. Ok peeps, so I’ve seen people discuss endlessly, both here on the forums and on reddit, about the Combat Styles, but I actually wanted to dive a bit into the Loadouts. First of all, I was hoping maybe someone might be able to clear this up a bit for me: Does this mean that my character, let’s say a Bounty Hunter playing as a Sniper, will be able to instantly change to a Commando or a Gunslinger? Or is it actually something that makes the layout of the interface easier to handle, by being able to quickly change Disciplines in your respective Combat Style(quickly changing between Marksmanship, Engineering and Virulence on my Sniper with all their attributed keybinds, interface, gear, outfits etc.)? I might be a bit in the minority here but I think if it’s the former, it might damage the quality of the game in certain aspects. You will basically be able to do ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING with one single character. And this complete lack of diversity I feel will kind of hurt the game through certain aspects. I mean I can already imagine the ops leaders saying to every member of their group to change the loadout to a stealth class so they can bypass every single mob until the boss, under the threat of a kick. Are there any MMOs out there that have done something so extreme? And I’m not talking about those that have the option to fully let you customize your character from the beginning, where you are able to make a weird hybrid of all possible roles. I would love to hear some more impressions about this Loadout situation from you blokes. Second of all, and this is a minor thing more that might irk me personally, right now in the game we see the Advanced Class of every character around us, but that will be meaningless now with the new Combat Styles considering you can see a Sniper that has the title “Grand Champion of the Great Hunt” above their heads, so I wish they find a way to also stick the overall class story that character is playing in there somewhere.
  23. Well, honestly it's not that hard to understand if you just try to view it from someone else's perspective and not based simply on what you like. Imagine that you want to mold a story yourself, you imagine your character being on some cool adventure. This can happen in any universe, not just in Star Wars, but in other "worlds", sci-fi and fantasy especially. We like to see stories in these universes, and of course movies, TV Series, video games, books etc. provide us with an opportunity to experience this. Video games have an edge for certain people because you can be the one who actually decides certain events and not just be "along for the ride" as with other mediums. But of course even this has limitations, you can only play the game that has been offered to you by the developers, and no matter how many dozens of options you have to choose from to mold your story, there are still a limited number, no matter how high that may be. And what if the thing you want to experience is not among them? People like imagining certain events or interactions in their head, but with RP you can achieve this in-game with other people. You can imagine that assault on another Republic world, you can imagine being a master to an actual decent apprentice not *********** Jaesa or Ashara or Kira or Nadia. You can imagine actually spending time with your master, not just roaming the galaxy for them, you can imagine being Imperial Agent that has a mission to infiltrate a clan of Mandalorians somehow. The possibilities are endless. This is why Dungeons and Dragons is still so bloody popular 50 years after it first launched, even though the days of pen and paper can be considered obsolete with the amazing technology we have nowadays. That is why people love doing RP, they want to experience another story not just the one offered to them by the developers, maybe one designed by them or that matches certain things they wish to experience. If they could magically imagine a game like that to play, they would, but they can't. And of course you can sit around, write a book or just play with your imagination, or you can actually try and make it real in-game.
  24. Honestly, I really think the SI benefits from having almost any race work really well with them. Even as a Sith Pureblood, the opening crawl of the class is modified and says that you are from a disgraced, fallen house that was thrown into slavery. And it can explain the disdain of the other characters towards someone who has fallen so far from grace. And every alien species is very well motivated because the Empire makes slaves out of them. While your average Human or Cyborg can also be someone thrown into chains from a former Republic-affiliated world. However, from what I've heard, the SI has some special dialogue for Twi'leks, so maybe that's the developers trying to say that they fit best. I think either a Twi'lek or a Sith Pureblood are my favorite options. The first one because they are the go-to slave race, and thinking about someone like that rising so far is a nice journey. The second one I like because I love seeing a Sith Pureblood be this mystical force user that can bend others to their will, it just looks cool.
  25. Hey man, I've been playing this game on and off since release. If you've never really played the game, I say it's 100% worth giving it a shot. Even if you are unsure about doing dungeons, raids, PvP, events etc., the story alone is worth it, and that will keep you busy for quite a while. And by busy I mean if you want to go like 100% completionist with the quests and such, it will easily keep you busy till the end of the year. Even if you just want to do the main story bits, you are still in for months of content. So you should give it a shot and see if you enjoy that aspect of the game. And when you feel like you want to get into group content, there are plenty of players around doing it. Daily raids, dungeons queues pop easily and all that good stuff. Suffice it to say that the population has been on the rise this last year due to all the Star Wars TV series, movies and video games that have come out. The developers are doing their best to keep the game up and about although they are not getting a lot of support from EA from what I'm aware. The community rage on them occasionally but most players you'll meet in-game are satisfied or at the very least content with the state of the game as of now.
