    1. Did you participate in pvp season 1 and have you managed to complete it?

    2. Did you find rewards interesting and worth engaging the system for?

    3. How are you enjoying the new system?

    4. Give any feedback, meaningful changes that can be incorporated in the future.

    5. Are premade groups ruin your experience as a solo player?

    1. Yes, pretty effortlessly. The arena weeklies took a while because of pop times mostly, but I still finished them a month before the season will end.

    2. Nope. I already have all of the old ranked rewards, I got the new flags because Bioware removed my old ones because flagging is apparently "toxic", but the armors are ugly and I will never use them.

    3. Its alright. I wish the challenges were things that actually required skill to complete, but oh well

    4. Arena weeklies should be halved. They take too long to do since the pop times are so slow. Even winning the vast majority of my arena games it still took significantly longer to get that achievement than it did for the warzone achievement

    5. I am in the premade. I dont like playing solo because the average PuG is trash and can't do damage, and its frustrating trying to carry an entire team of people who do sub 5k dps. Sorry not sorry that I have friends and the solos dont 😎

  2. I've noticed the same thing. I had a win rate at about 90% and then started getting complete uncarriable bots on my team. The only way I can get decent matches now is to run a full premade. I can't really queue solo anymore because it puts the worst players on my team.

  3. They have a couple thousand extra health and a couple hundred extra mastery/power, but 9/10 times if you lose to someone in 339 and you're in 332 the gear isn't the issue. 😎

You still get some conquest/space barbie rewards for doing lowbies now. The only thing you don’t get is points for the pvp season. So I don’t see any reason that would need to change. Plus, it would give people lvling up a better experience, while at the same time providing a space to learn as they lvl. Something the game has been sorely missing since the 4.x era.

Back then it made sense because you could earn comms for PvP gear. I remember being able to get enough from doing lowbies to get a full set once I reached 65. But this game is not self explanatory. You start out with 1 quickbar and the game doesn't tell you how to enable the rest, or how to keybind, or any of that. BioWare needs to make better tutorials if they want to get these people to improve. If the average pug wasn't so bad, then maybe I might enjoy regs and the new arena system more. But as it stands now, I want to play in a "high-skill" environment again, and I am not alone in that.

Explain why that wouldn’t still be a good idea to improve players experience & skills as they lvl up to 80? It would also give players a safe place to learn at lvl 80 if they found normal lvl 80 pvp too much on their first attempts.

If they had all of their abilities from bolster how would that be any different from level 80 PvP in the first place?
But I don't necessarily think it's a bad idea. I've just come to the realization over the years that very few people are willing to even attempt to improve at the game. These people don't want to learn. They don't want to compete. They want to get in, get their conquest/space barbie rewards, and GTFO. I don't believe anything can be done about it. But I can say this, if Ranked was still a thing, I would be doing that instead of terrorizing 320 iRating noobs like I do now.

A simpler solution is to make lowbie pvp a learning bracket again. Turn the Lowbie bracket into a lvl 1-80 learning queue.

From lvl 1-80, everyone in the learning queue gets boosted to lvl 80 with maximum cookie cutter stats & they choose their ability build when they queue. There are no premades allowed.

That wouldn't help anything. Something something lead a horse to water. The vast majority of casuals have no desire to learn or improve so they never will. That's why a Ranked mode involving skill based matchmaking needs to make a return, so that myself and other good players can play with/against each other. Carrying 7 pugs is no more fun than curbstomping them is.

  7. So to preface this, I think the whole premade vs. pugs discussion is irrelevant. The real problem is the skill gap in the game. To help address this and lead for a more balanced experience for the sub-5k DPSing, keyboard turning, mouse clicking, backpedaling, story mode noobs, BioWare should add a new mode to PvP.

I've done a lot of thinking about this and have some pretty good ideas. First, it should be team deathmatches only, and matchmaker should prioritize having equal support roles (no double heals, or tank-3DPS vs. heal 3DPS, for example), as well as having a way to matchmake players based on relative skill. I think in this case, an ELO based system might work pretty decently, so that players naturally fill in different tiers based on how good they perform, so you no longer have cases of really good players fighting new players. I think three tiers should suffice, lets call them Bronze, Silver, and Gold in this example. There should also be a tier above Gold, lets call it... Platinum, that goes out to the highest percentage win-rate players.

To help organize this new mode, they could implement a sort of "Season" like the new PvP Seasons. Each Season should last a certain length of time, and rewards should be given out at the end based on said player's battle record, taking into account things like average damage, win-rate, and K/D ratio. There should also be a public leaderboard as well, so that players can compare their stats with each other, making the mode more competitive.

And of course, the mode should be divided into "Team" and "Solo" categories, to help with balancing.

Now of course, this sounds a bit crazy for SWTOR. A competitive, skill based PvP mode? But I think having a sort of "Ranked" game-mode might bring a lot of people to PvP to test their mettle against live opponents and could be a lot of fun. I'd love to hear any suggestions to improve the mode, or if BioWare would like to chime in as well that would be cool too!

  8. I made this post title into my guild name, gave me a good laugh.

You solo players wanted Ranked gone, now you can reap what you sow.

I'll see you in the game. 😎

While understanding rotations and setting up burst windows are important for PVP, I'm not sure it's that difficult for a casual player because the abilities literally glow when crits are proc'd. However, it's being able to utilize DCDs effectively that separates PVP from PVE, and unfortunately 90% of all PVE content in the game can be completed without ever using a DCD. As a result, most of the players who play PVE are going to be wholly prepared to defend themselves in a mode that requires them to cycle through DCDs. Making PVE more difficult so that players have to understand how defensives for their class work would go a long way into giving them the confidence to play PVP with confidence.

I'm playing more and more matches where I no longer need to use DCDs in PvP either because the people I'm fighting are a non-threat. It isn't fun. I think BioWare needs to put more effort into game tutorials, or at the very least try to redirect players to existing tutorials.

  10. Consider this an informal survey.

    1. Do you play Jugg/Guardian DPS in ranked, or have done so within the past year regularly? (more frequently than once a month) and will you list your character name?

    2. Is it your main PVP class?

    3. Are you happy with how Jugg/Guardian DPS plays in ranked at the moment-if so why or why not?

    4. Will you continue doing so after 7.0's changes?

    5. What do you think of the changes currently suggested for Guardians/juggs in 7.0?

    1. Yes, Azilis; SS Focus Guardian meme of season 13, in the flesh

    2. It is my main in general

    3. No. Too squishy, relies to heavily on kiting to survive (doesn't feel very inline with how a tanky jedi should be), relies

on using defensive tacticals and setbonuses, but I manage somehow

    4. I'm still waiting to see how the other classes end up, but from what it looks like now I'll probably be uninstalling

  11. how many times have you been playing pvp and you go up against a premade team? Lots im assuming... i think they should put them in either ranked or all class all their own... leave unranked to the ones that are not the best in the game or just trying to level quicker... the atmosphere gradually gets more and more unfriendly since kids could be playing as welll... im no saint but i have fallen into that way on occassion playing pvp... or just make it that their are no buffs... just the 7 you have when you start....maybe that is the idea... discuss

    A few things:

The current Ranked season is over and the next one is a few months off at best.

You have an equal chance of being matched with a premade vs against them

    Get gud

  12. But the issues of premades is easily solved by people getting better. There are seriously people consistently getting 50K-400K TOTAL damage over an ENTIRE warzone (voidstar/huttball/any). Now either these people are bots or they simply have no clue what is going on. Whenever I ask them if they need help most answer (no thanks) so they might not be bots. But this has been consistent over the past couple of months on SF (in all levels...lowbies, mids, max's). People need to take some time to learn the game and read some of these incredible guides (all 2 or 3 of them lol and youtubes) that the google search brings up. If you want to get on better teams make yourself better, and more importantly help others.

So much this. I'm not saying everyone needs to do 10k DPS no matter what, but you need to do around 5k DPS to kill a player, and that should be easily obtainable even if you are playing for objectives (unless of course, you are guarding an offnode the whole game). Basic strategy, like not hitting a guarded target, or where to stand when guarding, and even how to count to 8 also seems to elude the vast majority of PuGs from what I've seen, at least on SS.

  13. The issue isn’t premades. It’s that PuGs are too bad these days. In the vast majority of matches I play, most people can barely hit 3k DPS. Of course the premade seems opressive when you’re bad and can’t do any dps. Read a guide for 10 minutes, stop backpedalling, and learn how to keybind, and you are better than 75% of the playerbase. I think regs can be fun, but other players being bad ruins the enjoyment.

TL;DR: Get gud and premades aren’t an issue.
