  1. I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but level scaling is not needed unless you are in the beginning storylines with new characters. It is embarrassing being level 80 with item rating 320 and get killed by level 40 Class 2 mission regardless of having your companion at influence level 50 with boosters and in order to pass I need to use Heroic in order to kill them before they kill me. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. This game has been redesigned to force you to do groups in order to do pretty much anything exciting. Some of us just want to be solo and we build up our character so we can do these things without having to join groups. Groups are fine and they also serve a purpose, but we shouldn't be forced to join them if there are levels or missions we SHOULD BE ABLE TO COMPLETE solo. Who ever made the decision to do level scaling to "be like everyone else" lost their mind. They got rid of a great advantage they had over other games. Building your character up actually meant something back then.
  2. Thanks everyone. I appreciate it. Managed to get through, but took many times dying and using heroic several times. Hopefully they will fix it soon.
  3. This may not be in the correct location on the forum, I apologize. Did something change with 7.0 or 7.01 regarding difficulty? In the past, I never had any issues making it through the level and completing it. I'm doing it now with a new character (item rating 232, level 73) in story mode and the difficulty is as if I'm playing master mode. I engage the jedi with Malgus and in less than 5 seconds I'm dead. I have tried this with multiple companions, even ones I've increased influence to 50 and set for heal and tank. In 20 minutes have I have died 15 times trying to get through to the first Master Jedi to defeat. As I mentioned, I never had a problem before and was just wondering if something has changed because I'm stuck now and can't continue with the story with this character because of it.
  4. For me, I like playing the story and exploring solo... and yes I enjoyed moments where I worked hard to advance my character so I didn't have to struggle that much to beat my enemies... I feel I deserved that since I put in the work for it. I also like trying to achieve all of my legacy tasks as well so if I don't create new characters to play the story line again, I work on those. For World Bosses, it was only the lower bosses you could attempt on your own and you would get a lot further with them with the higher your rating and experience. Now, you can't fight any world boss solo regardless of level and you can't do some missions because they are specifically designed to only be done as groups. You should have the choice do them as storyline like you do with Flashpoints when you repeat them. If you want it to be more difficult, change to Veteran or Master mode, or select to going as a group. At a minimum, when you start something it should tell you at the beginning you will not be able to complete this without joining a group because it's a +4 heroic mission (Shroud for example that you don't find that out until you reach the end). I'm not much for PVP but seems that's all gathering experience and raising your item rating really benefits anymore. I would play it more if it grouped people better with similar levels. Probably 90% of the time I've done PVP I'm grouped somewhere where everyone is higher than me and I'm always one of the first to get killed because of it. It doesn't make it enjoyable for me (granted my item rating isn't maxed out). Everytime I think I got my item rating higher so I can be evenly matched with everyone... I'm put in a higher group and the situation never changes. So until I max out on my item rating, there is no point to play PVP if I want to feel I have a chance and enjoy it.
  5. I'm not sure why they won't get rid of the level scaling. Years ago, if you wanted it more difficult, that's what Veteran and Master modes were for. I personally don't want to do groups because I like playing the storyline, but there are some activities that you used to be able to do solo that you can't do without a group regardless of your level or item rating because they will kill you if you're not. World Bosses are one. If you're levels are high enough, you should be able to battle them and be able to win. You put in the hard work to get there, and now it doesn't mean anything. I don't know if it's just me (maybe it is), but it seems like the level scaling has gotten worse with the 7.0 release. I created a new character, have my companion at influence level 50, on heal and I still get killed easily on Nar Shaddaa even though my item level is 94 and my level is 41. This is ridiculous and insulting. There needs to be a better balance, or allow the users to choose if they want leveling to make it more difficult by adding a checkbox in the options. It shouldn't be a difficult thing to program and should make everyone happy because they can decide if all of the hard work they do to level up would mean anything or not.
  6. First I'll say I do like scaling, but to a point. Naturally I'm going to be in the minority and that's fine. I also don't expect the designers to make any changes or considerations because we are the minority. I've been playing since 2013 and unlike many others, I enjoyed being rewarded for the hard work leveling up. Yes, it did make some worlds boring because of 1 shot kills, but you work hard to get your level higher and it helps for completing legacy tasks. It shouldn't be that you go to a planet that is capped at 40 and the enemies there can kill you regardless of the upgrades you have while having your companion set to heal at influence 50 on a heroic 2 mission. I agree, make it harder to kill your enemies... like it is now, it does make it fun, but for the people that did the work don't make it so easy during PVE to get killed. It makes it difficult to want to try to go to those worlds if everything you did to get where you are means nothing except when doing PVP. It shouldn't be that easy to get killed if you have a better item ranking than someone that is level 40 playing the level for the first time. There should be some reward.
  7. I'm just curious. Did the difficulty level increase recently? I've fought Revan many times with multiple characters and in the storyline never had a problem defeating him. Now, I've played 3 times in a row and keep getting killed either right after the first time he sends everyone to the pillars, or the 2nd time. Regardless of having extra healths to click on, or finding theron to help recharge, the other characters start getting killed off by the 2nd time they are sent to the pillars, and then I'm dead within seconds of that. I would understand if I were playing veteran or master mode, but I'm only playing the storyline.
  8. Thanks. My ilvl is only 276. Looks like I need to do more warzones to help get it higher up to around 300+. I appreciate the help. I figured the renown level would make a difference, but really only helps with regard to ilvl. I thought enough energy was spent building up this character that I shouldn't be having as difficult a time in story mode. Some people are talking like it's a piece of cake so it makes me wonder why it's not for me since I do use my area skills and keep my distance as much as possible and still get killed pretty easily as if I was a beginner with much less ilvl.
  9. I read that a lot of people have been able to complete the flashpoint. I'm curious as to how. I've played for over a week, probably have died about 100 times playing story solo. My character I'm using is Level 75 Renown 59. Even with my companion on heal mode, It is impossible to pass regardless of using heroic moment as well. For the level I'm at, there should be no way in story mode that I'm dying as much as I am. Also, I can't get passed taking the bridge after the 2nd tether. Even though I kill off everyone except for the boss, they all reappear when I get killed as if I didn't do anything. All this is doing is making playing this game extremely frustrating and I've been playing since 2012. This is ridiculous. Story mode should not be this difficult.
  10. I'm hoping they are working on this. I enjoy story mode more than wanting to join groups. I tried for 3 days with 2 different characters with level 59 renown and 64. I've made it to the 3rd boss with both characters, but I get killed in seconds. I was able to last long enough to kill some of the lower HPs, but instead of staying gone, the respawned after I died as if nothing ever happened. I haven't found anyway to get passed it so I'll need to stop until a fix is made. To me, it's acting like I'm playing veteran or master mode solo. It shouldn't be that way unless I choose for that difficulty level. Story mode is just that... you play it for the story, not the trophies for playing higher difficulty modes.
  11. Since one of the goals is to explore 100% of each planet, your characters already cover a great deal. Why is it that you must get it with only 1 character. The purpose of legacy and having all of your characters as part of your family tree is to share what you earn. That should include the map as well. Is there anyway you can change it so you can explore as a team and not only 1 by 1? Even if it's a checkbox option so people can choose to do it or not. It really defeats the purpose of having it as a legacy goal if you can't achieve it as part of a legacy.
  12. I'm not one for looking at forums before trying to play different levels. I was very frustrated to find out after all the work of getting to Maki'voro that I can't beat him solo, and I can't finish this mission unless I'm in a group of 4. There should be a warning before accepting this mission that you need to have a group to finish it. If I knew that, I wouldn't have wasted my time playing it.
  13. I'll first apologize for probably bringing up a topic that has been talked about before. There are tens of thousands of posts and although I try to search I can't find what I'm looking for. When you are levels 1-69 I can understand when you visit a planet your "level" is dampened to the rating of that planet. However, I would feel that after you've completed your story line and reached level 70, one of your rewards would not to be affected by that anymore. True, it will make some things a little easier, but I think you deserved it. What is the point of reaching level 70 if you don't get any benefits if you choose to do other tasks on those planets?
  14. Naturally there would be a little tweaking. Its already done when you are getting ready to go against Arcan. You don't manufacture a new gun when you meet Satel and Darth Marr, but that is what you have at the end. Legendary is just one of goals you can achieve as part of your legacy. Maybe they would give you something else from Zash, maybe a rare item, who knows. Maybe trainers would be general instead of just one class and would give you what you need based on your character... Anyway, it was an idea for users to explore other stories without having to create a new character to do so.
  15. My idea would be to use 1 character. Allow the user to pick which story line they would like to complete, but let them use the character they create with any weapon they choose. They can still pick what class they want to be, but let the user decide on what represents them the best, and allow them to complete all story lines whether they are republic or empire. This will also allow the user to promote through the ranks faster rather than starting over every time with a new created character just because they need to finish all 8 story lines in order to become get legendary status. There are characters in the game I don't like and don't want to play, but I don't have a choice if I want to get legendary status. Just suggesting to allow more flexibility. Let the users be who they are and enjoy all aspects of the game rather than having to be someone you may not like to get the benefits of completing all of the stories. I've been playing SWTOR since 2012 and I love this game. I just wanted to pass on the idea to add more flexibility.
