  1. My concern is less with the healing changes and more with the loss of abilities that I found added a sense of identification with the agent class; mainly Orbital Strike. Numbers will rise and fall over time, as expected in any MMO, and major nerfs will surely be met with resistance, but when you start taking away the things that players identify with, the nerf bat has clearly begun to swing a little bit to blindly IMO. I'm sure not all players feel the same way, but to me you may as well be taking light sabers away from sages in the name of balance. You know what else is balanced? Checkers, the charges of protons and electrons, Microsoft Notepad, the amounts of matter and antimatter in the universe (jk)... but are those fun? Orbital Strike contributed significantly to the COOL factor of the agent, and now that that's gone we're just a green kolto glow bot without identity to the agent class. Who knows, maybe it's just me and everyone else cares more about how big those green numbers are.
  2. I've done the Makeb story on both sides a couple times. I didn't mention I actually came back extremely briefly after Makeb was released but before the bolster (can't remember exactly when) and I didn't make it much farther than the Imp base skyhook thing. At that time I let my impressions get the better of my and I stopped again. This time I wan't to continue playing despite the burnout I'm currently starting to get - hopefully it passes and I keep playing. I am looking forward to those two quests.
  3. You actually didn't tell me anything in your first post. All you said was that you haven't run out of content with absolutely nothing indicating what you do in the game outside of play some alts over the years. Sorry my OP and conversational responses to other posters that provided actual responses to my questions didn't meet your expectations. The analogy doesn't really fit though. I never said I finished everything up to and including book 9. I said I pretty much finished book 1; what is the good stuff people like about books 8-9? Whether you're trolling or actually getting this hysterical over this thread I enjoyed your effort.
  4. This. A system that lets you travel from A to B without having to go from a shuttle, to a station, to an airlock, to a ship, to a spaceport hanger, to a spaceport. What I'd really like to see is something that maybe resembles the galaxy map, but is placed by the auto-discover QT point at the start of each planet. Then you can travel directly from the spaceport on Alderaan to the one on Tatooine, for example, without loading into a stronghold or ship or anything. You would need to have been to the planet before the option unlocks though. We get it, spaceship stuff happens in between. From an RP view you went to and came from the spaceport (even better RP-wise than teleporting to a stronghold IMO). It just cuts down on the pointless nothingness in between. Leave the other option for people that want it there and the quests that use those locations don't need to change.
  5. I really enjoyed the class stories. The problem was the time limit. It felt like "I need to log on today or I can't finish X story in time to also see Y story before the event ends"... After having a blast playing just story lines I didn't want to go back to grinding sidequests. I just finished some of them and I'm looking forward to hopefully playing through the same ones again without boring detours for the sidequests if the 12x comes back. I'd actually like to be able to take more time on my alts though and play through more FPs as I level rather than feel like I'm wasting a chance to see more of the story. I didn't rush so I could gear grind a new toon. I rushed to see as many stories as I could because that is one of the things I wanted most when this game launched (and really failed to deliver on at that time IMO due to the sidequest requirement still for alts). Then after burning our from the rush (and partly the annoying travel, but not the stories themselves) I checked out 55 content and sighed a little bit in disappointment since it didn't seem to be much improvement over launch.
  6. This is kind of what I was hoping wasn't the case. I really want to play a Star Wars game, but I'd like it to be a good game. Sometimes seems like if they reskinned it there wouldn't be much reason for anyone to be here. I do enjoy the PVE and outdoor environments. Cities look awful because its just really difficult for them to not look stale. I can't say I've seen anyone do MMO cities well.
  7. Good point. This is another thing that I am on the fence about being frustrated. On one hand, I get really into a goal and want to grind it out like crazy until I get it, even if it is long and tedious. I seem to get a lot more satisfaction from something I feel like I earned by working hard at it rather than just waiting for it to come to me easily eventually. But there are many daily and weekly caps that prevent me from playing that way its annoying that I can't actually work towards it if I want. On the other hand maybe their intention is to prevent burnout and that's the approach they've taken? My other theory is that this is at least somewhat meant to extend the replay of the same content. I really hope they put 12x in permanently. I think it would really open up the options for switching it up like you describe so I don't feel like I'm rushed to take advantage of short term events. I'd hope for a lot more QOL improvements to having alts if they do keep 12x.
  8. I'm not looking to be convinced. I'm legitimately wondering what it is people are doing these days because at launch it was very limited. I enjoy the mechanics of the game but it just seems like a shame if there isn't enough content to make it worth playing. I'm getting back into it but admittedly I am not aware of all the content currently available. Why are you responding so defensively? Are you afraid to admit all you do is farm and really don't enjoy it and don't want to have to admit that to yourself? Or are there specific things that you do enjoy that maybe I'm not aware of since I'm a returning player from years ago? To be clear, yes, I paid money for a game just so I could rant about it rather than try to get the most out of the experience. /sarcasm
  9. I'll try to keep this from sounding like a rant. I'm genuinely curious what is keeping people engaged. Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe SWTOR really just isn't for me. I originally played at launch with early access. After burning out completely by the time EC was released (1.2?) I haven't played since. The biggest issue was that there really wasn't enough content to keep a main busy, and I couldn't put myself through all of the pointless rat-tail quests needed to level an alt. I did occasionally check back on the game though. When I saw 12x I figured it would be nice to check out some other classes and see how the game is now. After levelling 3 alts up in a panic since the 12x is time limited, I feel like I'm burnt out on that already. I'm now getting through some of the content available for 55s and it doesn't really seem like its a whole lot different than launch. And at 60 it seems like its going to be even worse because its going back to even less level appropriate content plus farming old outlevelled stuff. So what keeps people playing? I personally like progression but there is very little in SWTOR. I would describe it more as progressive farming. It doesn't take long to clear everything at level cap and from there you may see increases in difficultly and higher stats on the gear, but there is essentially nothing new added. Is farming enjoyable to the playerbase? It seems like that's pretty much the bulk of the playing time. I go into more things I find disappointing in the spoiler below. (sorry for the text wall, tried to break it up) Where is the fun? I'm having a really difficult time feeling like I enjoy the game. It really feels like I'm being harvested for my money and the game experience isn't even an afterthought. They're just giving the absolute bare minimum to keep players around so they can milk money from wallets. I don't want things handed to me, I want progressive challenging content that keeps me engaged. Farming is not engaging. TL;DR: seems like the game has no content and isn't particularly compelling otherwise. Why do people play this space farm simulator? EDIT: It's blunt, but my intention was to keep it short enough to be readable. While it's not a complete impression, this describes my impression and some concerns as a returning playing. I'm not looking to be convinced to stay. I want to know what the players that have been here for a long time like about the game so I can check that stuff out and get the complete experience before deciding. I don't feel like BW does a very good job of this, and they seem to typically oversell the things they do talk about which leads to more frustration.
  10. Televangelist, you'll have to excuse the mob of fools with battered person syndrome regarding SWTOR/BW. If you read through the description of the event it says you shouldn't need to detour. This is pretty typical of their misleading promo information. Right... My advice is to pick up Treasure Hunting as a crew skill. It was very effective for me and doesn't rely on outside income at all (cartel or credits). I ran missions constantly as I levelled and I was more than geared enough in greens. Depending on your current level (I started around 25) it may be tough to catch up and you may be better off starting a new toon and coming back later to the one currently having problems. - Pick up treasure hunting - Run lockbox missions constantly with extra crew members - Use your healing companion - Gear yourself first - Gear your healing companion if necessary, but probably not really needed if you take their personal items as rewards - Save other unused main-stat gear for new characters to have gear ready for them, OR - Sell excess gear on the GTN for extra credits - Buy additional gear using credits or planetary comms ONLY as necessary (e.g. if you are having trouble with quests AND if your current gear level rewards are 30 or 40+ levels higher than what you currently you may want to consider upgrading a couple of items) If you had treasure hunting on every character you'll find that you have more gear than you know what to do with. If you run them constantly while travelling between quests it keeps up with your level pretty well. As far as a speeder goes... if someone uses your referral link (I'm not sure if they need to sub or just use the link) you get an adaptive speeder in your mail for free on every character. Not a perfect solution if they have to sub but it's probably the simplest option if you find someone willing. Otherwise, you'll probably have about 280,000 credits by 55 on each character that you can mail to your next one to buy a speeder at each rank. I can't guarantee it'll work for you, but I only needed help with one quest where my companion was removed from the fight. And the best part is you can do it completely self-sufficient. Tried and tested successfully 1-55. Good luck.
  11. So we were bored, wanted to gear a friend, and couldn't find a tank. I figured why not try it with Kaliyo since most of the tanks that pug are well... terrible. So we ran Battle of Ilum and had almost no problems (except DPS not interrupting the last boss... yeah DPS can be bad too... it's almost a prerequisite). Then moved on to False Emperor then Kaon. I figure I'll do all of them eventually and don't see too many problems except for the triplets in Directive 7 and maybe the boss group of Boarding Party. I have tried Directive 7 in the past while the tank was AFK and made it as far as the 3-droid boss. The fight is normally pretty heal intensive, but controlling the tank and healing at the same time just seems to be too much. After a couple of failures the tank got back and I didn't try since then. Has anyone been able to do this one? And if you have, how did you go about it? Has anyone successfully done the other three for Empire, or the republic ones? If so what group comp do you use? Any other tough spots like the triplets? We were Operative heals (Columi/Rakata mix) and tank companion Kaliyo (Columi/crafted mix), Sorc DPS (Columi/Rakata mix), and Assassin DPS (Columi/orange w/dailies mix). If I could have used Ensign Temple instead of that Assassin I would have though.
  12. Stop making items names that your subscribers can't pronounce. It's driving me nuts. Rakata : Rah-kah-tah NOT Rack-a-tae Columi : Coe-lew-me NOT Call-um-nigh THERE IS NO "N". CUT IT OUT! Tionese : Tie-oh-nese NOT Tea-on-essy Seriously though.... why so many people the dumb and can't L2Phonics? (I realise my phonetics are probably not right but its close enough)
