A lot of the hairstyles (original and newer) I can see being put on the opposite sex or different species, even if you don't think it "looks right" that's for the player to worry about. Specifically I'm thinking of male hairstyle 39 (the Qui-Gon style hair) and a lot of the Cathar hairstyles. Logistically I don't see why it would be a big deal either.
