  1. From intel's website: "Dedicated Memory Reporting The graphics driver now reports some amount of fictitious “dedicated” graphics memory to the operating system (128MB by default) to work around applications issues in a number of games. These games incorrectly look for some amount of “dedicated” graphics memory because they weren’t coded with the unified memory architecture for processor graphics. The amount reported can be modified or disabled if desired by changing the following registry value: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intel\GMM, create a REG_DWORD value named “DedicatedSegmentSize”. The value is interpreted as number of MB to report (0-512MB). A value of 0 disables reporting the dummy memory segment. If the registry key/value is not found, the driver will report the default 128MB." The key phrase here being, 'these games incorrectly". The issue wasn't hard to fix, but saying that it isn't an issue with the game's code is obviously false. All other MMOs, and pretty much every other game I've played had no issues whatsoever on low/medium settings. So yeah, you're wrong, the code is reduntant, poor object oriented programming, and a lack of knowledge of interfacing with Intel chipsets.
  2. Ditto. I haven't played since the 5.4a disaster, and was waiting to see how the situation was handled to decide whether to resub/continue playing. The fact that the FP system is a joke (no healer required, auto level 70 sync) and the significantly small number of active players coupled with the fact that as a tank 1x out of ten not only is the mesh of an enemy not visible, but there is also no way to target said invisible enemy. The FPs are a joke compared to WoW/FFXIV. The coding is poor and leads to significant stuttering on integrated graphips chipsets. Had to go into BIOS and allot far too much VRAM for any game to need and then add a 4gb stick to laptop to handle system services/processes just to get somewhat smooth gameplay. Starwars fan here, but this game failing is no falsity. I would have logged back in and played more if they had compensated for the inconvenience in a way other than XP. The leveling in this game is far to fast. *insert bleh emoticon here* (two new players not resubbing, thumbs up BW, you weasled another $30 from two apparently naive adults. If I play another MMO it will be my old fave. Not going to drop it's name, but it's hard sci-fi, and it's parent company may or may not be based in Iceland.
  3. Meanwhile Texas is underwater But I feel you, I'm in the same boat. I put off responding to multiple Thumbtack requests to fix hardware/software issues (one of my many "jobs") because I had specifically planned to play today. The devs admitted it was their fault and their poor judgment/practices. I don't like to call it compensation, but they have said they are discussing gifting us something to remedy the estranged provider/clients relationship. I'm just hoping it's not more XP. I prefer slower leveling, enjoying the content as I progress (my first MMOs were MUD games on telnet).
  4. A few hundred CCs would be cool, and would help help foster the seemingly strained relationship between the devs and subbers. New players can get experience easily (through the natural process of enjoying playing the games content), but CC's would help them catch up with the (mostly) aesthetic items available on the Cartel Market. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on whether or not there should be compensation and, if so, what type. This is just my opinion. To echo my previous post, a multifaceted solution would be the most utilitarian approach. And yes, in a few days everyone will have forgotten about the inconvenience for the most part, but if BW makes efforts to show they empathize with and support the fanbase, THAT will not be forgotten. It's something that's rare in companies of their size these days. I don't understand all the people so adamantly opposed to BW doing their players a solid; the only deduction I can make is that they don't need the CCs, and have bought them in the past meaning that giving them to out would make them feel slighted. I say that because the posts of those opposed to the pet/CCs seem to be coming from a defensive perspective. But anyway, to each their own, as the above poster stated, we're each entitled to our own opinion..
  5. Well that makes more sense. I didn't check out the PHPBB options, I saw all devs posting in yellow and assumed that it was reserved for them to differentiate posts. A fair assumption after a few beers I would think. And my apologies sir.
  6. Ok, I take back all the nice things I said about BW. This guy is just being a straight-up D-BAG for no reason. Yellow text means BW staff, right? If so that's one of the most unprofessional things I've ever read from a game studio. Possibly ever worse than CPP.
  7. Keith acknowledged that others were asking for different compensation, it's right there in what you quoted. He said the Dev Team was considering it as an option. So they've obviously read our posts and are looking at what compensation is most appropriate. Maybe they will find a multifaceted solution. Maybe it's just rhetoric. But this is my first time in the forums, and I think they have handled the issue fairly well thus far.
  8. I'm satisfied with the Dev Teams apology. Still holding out for some compensation other than XP though. I understand that a vast majority of players, especially younger, are very concerned with leveling fast, but personally I enjoy games with slower paced leveling systems. A otherwise unobtainable item, microtranction currency (which I personally do not support in any game, not singling out BW / EA), or even an extended sub would all be options that I would find beneficial. But I do understand that a lot fo other players would like to see the lost XP corrected, so if that is the line of action taken it's understandable. As a fellow web developer/software engineer, thank you for clarifying the issue, the length of the maintenence makes a lot more sense now. Cheers, Dan
  9. salvagedialects doesn't know what he's talking about if you read his post. I think he still codes in notepad. I guess he's never heard of an Interactive Development Environment. But either way. I'm not judging BW until I see what their response is to the inconvenience of the playerbase and then worsening the problem with 15 codes. I am a new subber and have had no problems with BW in the past, so I'll hold my judgement until this is resolved and/or compensated. I guess since 15 people already recieved it, giving everyone currently subbed the pet would make the most since. A few CC coins if not. It would be a trend in the type of customer care that keeps games growing and alive, and would also be a factor in deciding if me and my brother sub for a second month.
  10. At least in EVE you can still train while the servers are down. And CPP is a very small company compared to BW. CC or faun. Just something to make me happy at the end of this long day.
  11. To those saying that those complaining are angry about 50 cents. This may be a bit thick of me, I think it's more of an issue of time lost/inconvenience than the price of a Twinkie. And did BW really give away 1150 CC coins for free once when something like this happened? If so that's awesome, that shows empathy with the playerbase which is A-One. Kudos BW. But I'm a new subber unfortunately, I missed out on that. Maybe they will follow the precedent that they set with that? Here's to hoping! A little goes a long way.
  12. I think I've figured out what happened. They must have finally tried to "can you make sword in box light so sword come out when opened? then if sword is back after sword, use light saber on box, and saber will be boxed after sword is out." -Battlebug
  13. Agree with #1-3 (especially #3). Would like to change #4 to have a 6 pack of your favorite drink in the fridge for when this happens (I had made specific plans with people to play THIS game today, after the patch). And to the person that said giving free stuff would just be more work, I sincerely disagree. A few lines of SQL or line of shell commands (howere BW servers run) would not be work. It take MUCH longer to give 15 select people something than it would the entire inconvenienced community.
  14. I have had a few beer by this point, and I lolled. So true. I recant my former request for Cartel Coins, and will just try to enjoy my evening until the game is playable again while BW does their best. (but also, on a sidenote, the faun would be nice )
