  1. Um, any gear I've gotten, green or otherwise, doesn't say "for DPS" or " for tanks", etc, and has no such restrictions**. It seems to me that a 'tank' should be able to wear the gear with the most 'endurance' (for example), if they wish.

My Gunslinger wears the 'blue' gear. 🙂

** At least, not that I've noticed.

You aren't prevented from using DPS or healer gear on a tank, that's correct. But certain gear sets are intended to used by certain combat disciplines nonetheless. That's why your loot discipline determines what type of gear you get.

So a player naturally expects a certain stat distribution, e.g. a DPS discipline to get more mastery than endurance.

  2. It is their game and they can do anything they want.

True, but then they shouldn't be surprised when many players leave the game since they no longer find it enjoyable.

They need to find a balance between story content and repeatable solot and group content. Unless they manage that, they're doomed to repeat past mistakes over and over again. The game is currently focused far too much on group content for my taste.

I'm not unsubbing yet, but if the current trend continues I eventually will as group content doesn't interest me.

  3. How could I ignore what's a part of my weekly challenges? Are you one of the few that like the annoying objectives?

While I wouldn't mind the removal of uprisings even remotely, they are easily ignored.

I simply ignore them just as I ignore ANY content that requires a group, even if that means I take way longer to complete Galactic Seasons or conquest.

  4. And what can be seen in the game? People are happy and play the game full force. Grouping and have happy times.

Of course people play, especially if they're subbed. After all they paid, so why should they let their subs go to waste?

But are they happy with 7.0 or enjoying themselves? I don't think so, at least judging from general and guild chat.

Sure, you have players who play for the first time and enjoy the class and planet stories for now. But there are fewer and fewer of them and it's only because of the bugs.

  5. If you want stories there are tons of mmo's offers not 30 min stories but 6 -30 hours per expansion go play them

What you people don't understand is this : SWTOR had tried only story route twice and it failed miserably. People wanted end game content ( whatever ita ops pvp dailies evets) and they left at the beginning of the game because there was nothing to do. Nobody wanted run the same story again nobody wanted play a different class nobody watched cutscenes or dialogs and just skipped it to the end game.

4.0 was the same thing it failed miserably. People subbed once then left the game, again.

Stories are hardest and most expensive content on any game can develop. Especially for this game, you need 16 voice actors, different animations for the comp scenes etc etc. That's why they canceled class stories at 1.3 because there wasn't ENOUGH SUBBED PLAYER to justify or run the class stories.

This is the fact and I still don't understand how you don't see it. Do you know why ffxiv has x20 times more story per expansion than in this game?because they have x30 has more end game content to do than this game. Story is icing on the cake, cherry on the cake even. It's nice to have, great complimentary to the cake, not the cake itself. You play story the once, then it's over. End game is cheaper to develop it is replayablate many years, times to come.

Would I want more engaging, long story?suree definitely.i enyoj a good story. But the reason we don't have there wasn't enough end game content. Simple as that.

Endgame gear grind only keeps a very particular set of players engaged. Many, if not most, more casual inclined players aren't interested in that.

Story has always been what SWTOR did best and what attracted the majority of it's playerbase (and the fact that it's Star Wars of course). That doesn't mean that they should skip repeatable content entirely, of course, but neither should they focus on it to the degree they currently do. The current focus on endgame gear grind doesn't make the game enjoyable and engaging for many players, causing them to unsub.

  6. There seems to be a lot of threads complaining about the changes but surely there are some positives in there somewhere. I like being able to run through all the origin stories with stealthy classes and being able to have a second class is awesome. What do you like about the recent changes?

The only good things in 7.0 for me are:

Combat styles and origin story are finally separate.

    Galactic season 2

    Things I'm indifferent about:

    Shared tagging

    Loadouts

    Some of the combat/skill changes

  7. No! The Weapons Outfitter was promised, now deliver on that!

You have a lot more faith in BioWare than I have. All previous attempts to allow for weapons in the outfitter system failed, so I doubt it will be different this time.

And even if they manage to do it, it might be several months before we'd get it.

So... yeah, I'm all for a mod vendor for weapons at the very least.

  8. -snip-

make the game the best it can be.

How about bringing back moddable gear then? Because it made the game a lot better...

How about more story-focus rather than focusing mainly on FPs and OPS? This is a story-based game after all and the story is THE most important thing for many players. Not to mention that story is what SWTOR does best.

  9. To answer the OP:

It depends on what I do... Taking a new alt through the trooper story as a sniper is definitely fun and feels a lot better to me than a vanguard or commando.

But playing my level 80 chars? That isn't even remotely fun for me. I might as well watch paint dry, that's how enjoyable the game is for me at level 80. And watching paint dry is probably more fun ....

Unfortunately I'll run out of fun things to do eventually, as more and more of my alts are approaching 80.

  10. Overall 7.0 has been a pretty big letdown, even to me (and these day's I'm uber-casual and only really play solo for the stories). That said, the one thing I was hoping for turned out great: Trooper origin with the Sniper elite spec.

I've been around since beta/launch, and I always wanted to love the trooper story line, reminiscent of clone wars soldiers and republic commando... but it's always felt poorly designed: Vanguards fighting at point-blank range despite using rifles, commandos hauling around big guns but just standing in the open like red coat soldiers getting ripped a new one by colonial guerilla fighters.

Now I can actually play a trooper and feel like a soldier. I can use cover and duck behind objects like any soldier worth his salt should. I can send in M1-4X or another squad member to draw attention while I ambush and snipe to pick off targets in a couple of shots, or spray the area with suppression fire. I can call in Orbital Strikes like artillery support. I can throw grenades 30+m instead of literally dropping them at my feet or making my "armor explode" (god, explosive surge is the stupidest ability I've ever seen in a game). When an errant enemy decides to bum rush my position I can throw a knife at him and then take him out with a kill shot. I can throw a 'smoke grenade' to suppress enemy accuracy.

This is how class design should've been from the beginning.

Agreed, it definitely feels right and it should have been in the game from the beginning. The thing that annoys me a bit is the shield color, I really wish it could be made based on your faction.

  11. As a soloer running mostly heroic weeklies... I am SO SICK of running the same heroics over and over all week on my characters.

    So. Sick. Of. It.

I'm not sure where BW was going with this but I can tell you right now that once I've reached 326 IR and got my legendaries, I will play WAY less, not more, because this is just not fun (especially as killing everything takes twice as long now too). I used to play CQ for fun and enjoy getting gear sets for every character. Now it's a chore.

7.0 pretty much ruined the game for me.

That sums up my feelings quite well. The update has sucked almost all fun out of the game and replaced it with an boring grind.

  12. Well, I just cancelled my subscription. It took some time for me to really think this decision. It mostly came from the fact that I only ever did what I needed to in order to finish all the weekly personal conquests on my characters and hadn’t done the story stuff since December of 2020. But with the new update doubling the amount of points needed for personal conquests, it just further exacerbated those feelings I had been experiencing. So, in the mean time I will be taking a break from the game. I’ll probably be one once or twice in the next week or so to transfer my credits to my legacy bank and play through the newer story content from this month and last summer. Hopefully I might consider playing more regularly again once either the conquest goal requirement is cut back in half or the amount of points we earn from objectives is doubled. Till then, I guess I’ll just be living my life in other ways.

I understand your decision. The 7.0 update has basically sucked all fun out of the game for me, though I'm not yet ready to quit.

  13. Um, yeah. This whole un-moddable weapons plus no weapon designer thing is a cluster. It kind of makes all those fancy weapons in the CM useless.

All they need to do though is to make weapon mods available. Even if it's just a limited number. Of course, what 'level' they should be is another cluster.

It would be sufficient if the mods gave an iRating of 320 (on par with non-updated green level 80 gear). That way we'd get to decide whether to use the actual level 80 gear o our cartel market ones.

This really needs to be addressed soon.

  14. Not everyone LIKES GSF.

Some people out right hate it. (like myself)

Why should one are of the game reward so many tech frags compared to others?

and I'm not suggesting removing tech frags from GSF...but agreeing with the OP....

Increase the tech frags for Solo players via conquest, or other SOLO types of game play.

    ^ This ^

I absolutely hate GSF and I certainly won't play it, no matter the rewards. We need to be able acquire tech fragments in sufficient number from other activities as well.

  15. your negativity doesnt help anything, times are tough with inflation and money is prob tight at ea, these guys are doing there best and i personally like most of the changes, bugs are going to happen even in the best games, try to have some more positive input rather than bashing

Turning a blind eye and white knighting the "expansion" doesn't help either.

Yes, bugs happen ... but when bugs that were reported on PTS exist after release despite a delay, it doesn't really speak well for the company.

  16. I come to thank you for the wonderful expansion, as a player who has the Sith Warrior class as my main, the feeling I had when switching between warrior and inquisitor skills during combat, was to see a dream come true! I felt like Count Dooku when use my saber skills and my incredible power in the force! Finally my Warrior can feel powerful in the force, as history has always made clear he was!

Combat Style was important not only for the Sith Warrior class, but also for all the others, it was a lot of fun to play with my trooper using two pistols and also with my Sage using her lightsaber! It was a amusing renovation for all classes and you really are to be congratulated for that!

Even the loss of skills was not so felt, in none of the classes I played I felt a loss and that showed me that you guys know what you're doing and that's great! The great detail is that I was one of the players who complained a lot about the loss of skills and itemization.

Regarding itemization, it was something for me that so far has not been felt either. As a PVE player I still haven't felt the need to use stronger items and I haven't even changed all my old items yet and that's good, because the system, contrary to what I imagined, doesn't force the player to search for stronger items!

In another important point that deserves to be highlighted, is that you finally remembered our original spaceships in the main mission! It was great to see our characters making use of it at the beginning of the mission, I would like this to be repeated in the other missions to come!

I can't wait to see everything this year promises, both in terms of the stories to come and in terms of combat styles, can we use a third style? Please fix the bug of the mounts not showing up as it is messing up the game a bit.

Thanks again Bioware and keep up the great work!

    Nice attempt at sarcasm.
