  1. Hi. We're looking for a tank primarily for our tues/thurs/sunday group 10-12pm pst. Team has cleared 26/26 and 5/5. Looking to get into gods in the near future. Old content is on farm including Brontes. New tank is expected to perform at the level the group is at. Old content should be something we can run through without much struggle and have banter. Performance is expected to be serious, however. Trial would be either on DF or DP timed. Post here or DM Zorngodofall#8433 on discord if interested
  2. Why are there so many of these threads? Sins are fine. They have better DCD's than a mara and more frequent access to things like ball lighting to help mitigate the range issues. Deception has like the second best burst in the game. What part of 'your sin' needs to come back
  3. No. PT's don't have top parses because of 'fluff' PT's have top parses because of things like pyro shield, shoulder cannons, rebounders and other stuff that requires point blank range. That's why i mentioned brontes burn. There's no fluff, there only however much damage you can dish out because you have to push hands (shoulder cannons, pyro shield, blowing your heat) before you reset the stacks. That's a lot of the reasons why PT's blow everything else out of the water. Another fight as an example. Tyrans nim, PT's are classified as a melee dps there and get parses as much as 1k higher than other specs just because of passives and unique utility, as well as top tier dps. Pyro has like the second highest dps on a dummy on parsely as well. If you are getting low parses or lower parses than other people it's a skill based result, not a class based result. I'm not going to be one of those people who tell you to 'git gud' just rather the truth to how these classes work and where they line up vs other dps. I main a carnage marauder, a class that was mutilated throught the start and twice more during 5.0. It's like the 4th lowest dps parse wise yet i am regularly able to get top parses, not only for my spec but for fights in general. It comes down to knowing your class inside and out and know how to apply that knowledge of your class to whatever circumstances you are facing. PT's may not be as viable in pvp because of a lack of defensives but i don' think you can write them off completely. It doesn't even take a viable class to be a viable dps, it takes being a good player to make a sub optimal class function and excel.
  4. Okay so a few things.. PT's don't need a buff in pve. At all. Full stop. AP is the highest sustained (and overall) burst spec it's not funny. It's a bit asinine it even has 10m abilities considering it's doing top tier melee level damage. Not to mention pyro shield and other point blank effects. As someone who does a lot of high end raiding (5-6) nights of either full clears of nim or apex boss pulls i can see for sure you are just flat out wrong. What PT's lack in DCD's or raid uility, they make up for in raw damage output, with either spec. PT's are basically a requirement for taking down brontes, while pyro doing less there, still has better burn parses than any other melee class aside from the top 0.01% of melee who can do 8k+ at burn. If anything, their needs to be a redesign of AP and somewhat of a nerf to pyro to bring it in line with other classes. For the reasons said above. It's got the lowest APM requirments for any melee class (which all require more, and are worse) For pvp, that's a different monster entirely. I'm not a major pvper but i do understand how flimsy the basic design of pt's is. Honestly, they need to scrap the entire idea of a glass cannon, nerf the damage moderately, and provide it with some form of utility and more DCD's. PT tanka should be changed as well, seeing how unviable those tanks are for a lot of fights. My two cents
  5. Yeah it would be really cool to have nim kp/ev. As a 4.0 raider I never got to do them myself. Would be awesome to have more stuff to do when the proper people aren't around for more difficult content and there isn't really a whole lot to do already, so yeah these things should be implemented again.
  6. I guess the point was missed. It's not about being a 'good' or a 'bad' player, my post wasn't talking about how solo players are a nuissance or etc. I was actually being supportive to a degree, the point was addressing issues within the game and the playerbase itself. I went into great detail about it. I dunno why i have had to explain this so many times. But this failure to read or understand a point, but it's getting really frustrating. What i see is someone accusing others of having a negative view on others for perceived things they have done or might do. That's fairly messed up considering the usual reasons 'solo' players have with not playing with others. Oh. I don't really have a ton of experience poor experiences aside from this thread with those players from that kins of the game, has definetely soured my opinion though.
  7. Again, you're either not reading what i said or strawmanning me. Not really acceptable either way. You're turning this into a debate, not I. I never once said one style is correct over another, but if you read my post instead of blindly quoting it you'd see that. Notice how it's not called 'talk about what solo aspects of the game you find the most entertaining' and is instead called 'solo players appreciation thread' it'd be like saying operation players appreciation thread or pvp players appreciation thread, see how silly it gets? Seems a bit narcissistic, pretty sure that's what bothers me if anything. And the 'cant be bothered to learn anything about the game' statement is just a fact. I explained why that on a basic level people should at leadt be bothered to learn how things work so that if at some point they do do things with other they aren't a hinderence, that in general an mmo issue and not directed at any specific person or playstyle, solo players included. What i was actually trying to do was to provide some light as to why certain parts of the game can be frustrating for some people, you'd be surprised by how many are turned off because of things like that. You're the one putting words into peoples mouths and assuming peoples intentions. For the life of me, i don't see where this idea of people who do group content are pushing it onto others comes from, that's just honestly weird and pretty insulting.
  8. You'll find that your attitude is offensive to some people (with the assumptions you make in previous posts) as much as things you find offensive. Secondly read the majority of my post before you quote me and put words in my mouth. I take a balanced approach and try and explain the different attitudes and how people feel towards different things. I was making a contribution myself (to more solo players) explaining how different parts of things work in this game (sub communities and what not) and why some people have poor experiences with those who run a lot of group content. The idea was to explain why issues occur between two different kinds of people inside the same group. That's what my post was about; I don't honestly think you bothered to read much of it and ended up putting words in my mouth, while I actually read all of your posts on this thread before replying. It's a big issue you know, people isolate themselves even inside a game because of negative experiences with people, I was trying to provide examples and reasons why that happens. As for me not being welcoming and open to people, that's you trying to strawman me. I went out of my way to explain to perhaps newer and/or more reclusive players why these things happen.
  9. I'm not a 'solo' player or a 'hater' but i dont think this sycophant thing is a good idea. It's not really healthy for anyone, an echochamber hugbox really doesn't help anyone with anything, even if it makes them 'feel good' right here and now. I'm not going to rag on others for a different way of playing the game from myself though. As someone who played a lot of story early on and switched my playstyle more towards.group content I kind of pieced together a lot of things some people here might not understand. I think what frustrates a lot of people who might want to try group content is how poorly explained many things are in this game are. Take for example stats, they are never explained at all; you aren't told or shown what stats are for what and it takes wiki or googling it to get an idea, at least a more complete one. On the other side of that coin, some people can't be bothered to put in a very tiny amount of effort or cant be bothered to learn very basic things and that's where it probably crosses the line. It's a game, if you can't be bothered to learn even the most basic things about it, even a little, then you really shouldnt be playing it, and this goes for many things in life. Less explained things like augments are another thing group content people get frustrated by, not having them is really an issue and it can hold back an entire group in something lile an operation or even a hardmode flashpoint and for that reason, everyone else has to put in more work to get the same job done, and that can get infuriating at times. That's kind of on tje game for not explaining it to newbies and some on pepple for knowing and not bothering to try, or care sometimes. If you intentionally dont put work into things and expect others to make up for what you wont do, that's where it becomes unacceptable. Some of the group activities in this gamr attract toxic ego people who really get a kick out of belittling others and that's a.general problem, not something solely on people who play 'group content' toxicity is something i am personally against because i see the harm it does to the community and the game itself, but not all people are like that. Hell, i run a nightmare difficulty guild & discord around the concept that that kind of attitude isn't acceptable and i tolerate as little of it as i can. And on the opposite side of that coin are people who cant be bothered to learn anything about the game and just want to be as lazy as they possibly can putting in zero effort and that's also an offensive idea to me. I mean isn't that just a different form of toxicity that in this case comes from 'solo players' in the form of contempt and entitlement. Its just as toxic, imo and no it's not 'harmless' to the game or the community. So let's go over the idea of 'solo operations' real fast. People who bring that idea up often get torn to shreds when they ask for it. Some of it is ego people who want to put those people down and other times it's not. Operations in general (excluding sm these days) are somethin peoplr put a LOT of work into and it's so disrespectful to just wglant the same reward (can be gear, the end of a story or whatever) for little or no effort and that kind of thing usually comes from people who put zero work into the game (entitlement) and that is NOT acceptable at ALL because of how much it tramples on the work of all those people i mentioned and it's really messed up and really disrespectful. I'm not aiming to stir the pot or hurt anyones feelings just merely to provide a more balanced approach to a somewhat complex issue.
  10. i mean solo content is a huge joke. It' meant ti be done by people who cant be bothered to do more than spamming basic attack. Veteran is the second lowest difficulty whrn talking about healing. The thing about the story and solo content is that it gives people absolutely no clue about the rest of the game. Like gearing for example. Game doesnt even tell you you need to properly gear/augment/stat your toons and solo content is so dumbed down that it doesnt require it. Veteran is joke content as well, it's suppose to be doable without a healer. I think you need to do some minimal gearing and learn about your class some, i know the solo content doesn't require it, but the rest of the game will, big time. Operative healing is about keeping 2 stacks of probes on people and using various single target heals when they proc as well as the AOE hots which are very strong. Augment your gear. This and proplerly distributing your stats are 100% critical. There's a 24 class disciplines thread in the roles forum for more details. Gear is mostly dropped from galactic command crates, but purchasable through vendors on fleet as well. You can buy 230 gear to start with, with yellow tokens from GC. Not sure what happened in that flashpoint for you to not be able to 'heal fast enough' maybe people were standing in stupid and taking way more damage than they ought to. But yeah, that's considered really really easy content to heal.
  11. So if there's a modicum of difficulty it's something you find offensive? That's rather sad. This game offers some of the best story content as well as some of the most difficult PVE content I've tried to do. I mean there's almost nothing to be gained from roflstomping things so much where you don't even have to try, that idea strips away so much from the game itself offers
  12. its underwhelming in pve if you aren' good at it, it's great in pvp thanks to the stat change. For pve, here's the thing, it's a 60 APM spec with lowish parsing ability. If you're not good at it to begin with, it sucks. Am currently 22/26 nim as carnage though, so its perfectly viable
  13. It depends on the spec. For carnage you want 1450/1550/1650 because of the inbuilt alacrity boost. 1450 ia for the threshold of 1.3 GCD's. 1550/1650 is for lowering the CD of ferocity but i haven't found conclusive evidence one way or another. Have ran 1450 for ages though and trying 1550 atm. Carnage works on burst windows with berserk and ferocity giving you 3 stacks while use massacre as filler and the smaller burst window of vicious throw and devestating while you build more stacks. It's one of the best burst specs, it has a 60 apm requirement making it one of the most challenging specs in game to learn. How exactly has it been underwhelming?
  14. This was all a bit silly to begin with. No offense OP but it doesnt sound like you are very familiar with raiding in general. No need to correct what others have, but I will say that it's not something you can just run in and do and then expect to clear it. NiM raiding is hell, always has been, always will be. You most definetely wont clear it or really much with randoms from the forums. Starforge has some NiM raiding people you just have to look around, but you probably don't want to start there. If you haven't done HM progresion consistently you really won't be ready for nim. Never pulled hateful myself, but doubt its that bad. It's a 16 man, very rarely are 16 man ops ever that rough. It is mostly lag and stupid crap that makes them hard. I wouldn't say just give up if you want it that badly, like all raiding it will just be something you have to put a lot of work into to get what you want out of it. But if you just expect to go in a stomp something, don't bother trying. Satele Shan is a better server for NiM and nim is a lot easier than it has been in the past. We're about 6 gear levels over where the bosses have been tuned to. Many bosses have been nerfed as well, also, so it is most certainly doable. It's fun too. Raiding, especcially on a nim level is hard because if.you mess up once, or fail the number checks, you wipe. At any rate OP, wish you the best of luck
  15. Hi. I am the GM of <Legion Of One> we are a 5.0 nightmare progression guild (with a couple hm teams) we are looking for a ranged dps and also perhaps a heals for our main team. Our main team is 6/7 nim snv 4/5 tfb 3/4 EC. Our raid nights are tuesday/thursday 8pm PST / 11pm EST. We are primarily looking for a Sniper and a Merc heals. We are fairly set in stone for those roles. The sniper is expected to be able to run all 3 specs depending on the fight and the merc heals to be fairly experienced as well. We are looking for people who we can have a good time with and clear content at a relatively fast pace. General expectations: Don't be toxic. We really aren't looking for toxic people to raid with and at the same time the general thing from the group you can expect is us to clear content. We expect you to show up on time 15-20 minutes before raid and be an active member of our guild. We are looking for *permanent* spots we won't have to replace for a good amount of time and while unexpected things happen it is preferable that we will not have to replace you. PM/PST/Mail Zorn Ragefiend with any questions or inqueries. Alternatively you can message me on discord (just let me know you are being referred from this thread) @ Zorngodofall #8433. Thanks and have a nice day.
  16. That's actually a very likely thing. I need to run a traceroute to find out where the ping spike is, but honestly I am just glad I have a tempoary solution because the game is utterly broken and unplayable otherwise
  17. Hi all. Just wanted to post on a strange new issue that has been popping up for myself and others as of late. About a week ago I started getting some very weird lag spikes. At first it was just my ping that doubled, but then i began experiencing ping spikes between 400-900 fairly frequently and would have these really ackward skill activation times. Just to get it out of the way, it is NOT to do with hardware or internet on my end at all. I did a DNS flush, disabled wifi, checked my firewall, deleted cache/cookies and many other things and confirmed it is NOT on my end. I am on the west coast, btw I had a theory about what it might have been though. I turned on my VPN and set it to the middle of the US (which in theory should add an additional hop from my connection to reaching the server, meaning more lag) However when I turned my VPN on I noticed that ALL the mysterious server lag has disappeared. No more doubling of ping and then lag spikes on top of it. Somehow spoofing my local IP address gave me decreased latency and far more stable ping. Just want to add a few things. PERSONALLY i believe this to be due to having a lower priority in the server (i have seen this happen in other games) Why would I have better ping in the middle of the US adding another hop than I would traveling straight from the west coast to the east coast. And as another note, I believe this lag may be related to the latency issues APAC or Aussie players have. Lower priority in que due to location = higher MS when communicating with the server, so it is also a possible fix. Bioware, what have you been doing?
  18. Hi. I'm Zorn. My prog team currently looking to fill our 8th spot with either a heals or dps that can mesh well with our group. We are currently 5/7 with SNV Nim and looking to round out our 8th spot for further nim and Revan progression. We are looking for an experienced dps or heals and preferably someone who can swap to whatever spec or role that we need. Any applicants are subject to trial run. Nim experience is required or at the very least you need to be able to keep up. We really aren't looking to carry or be carried- and we are also looking for someone who meshes well with the rest of our group. Elitist Snobbery is a non starter. We don't care if you're good if the attitude isn't there. Our point with this group is to progress through nim at a decent pace while also being able to have the lols and not be stressed at the hardship of nim progression. Raid nights are Tuesday/Thursday at 8pm Pacfic with a third day being a possibility and TBD. Message, or send a mail to Zorn Ragefiend if interested.
  19. I decided to run BH HM yesterday for fun, I didn't need it for any reason but I have been looking over these threads and wondering why people are struggling so much. Bloodhunt isn't hard, it's not hard at all. You can't be stupid though and a lot of people walk into it thinking 'oh hey, I can just complete this because reasons'. My team made it up to shae with wiping on joss and valk once, but once we got to shae, it just wasn't going to happen. The main problem was that our healer had god awful gear. Some mix of 208 gear and 140 relics, and started blaming the dps. Our tank not holding aggro didn't help either, but it seemed like he didn't know what he was going as a tank either. It seemed like neither the healer nor the tank had any clue what their rotation was or any idea of how to actually do their role, which seems to be the main problems with slightly difficult content. You want a strategy to beat this? Don't come undergeared. Run 216 gear with minimum 6/7 set bonus and know your rotation. There is, for no reason people can't clear that FP if both of those conditions are met. The problem is, people don't bother to gear or learn their rotation, they just don't care about it. They don't give a damn. That's really all there is to it. You need OK gear and need to know how to play the spec you are on. These are simple things that seem like noone bothers to even try for anymore. Probably mostly because the story is so faceroll these days. You don't have to learn anything to win. When I walked through story, I had very little of an idea of what my optimal rotation for my spec would be (carnage marauder) but through work and bothering to learn, I hit about a static 6k now. This is the fundamental problem in a nutshell: People just do not try. As for strategies that work. Adds need to be cleaned up very quickly on the first boss, but reasonable dps and proper tab targetting works. Avoid stupid circles and don't stand in them, pop defensive cooldowns so your healers don't get overwhelmed. Tank needs to hold aggro and probably should be parked with the boss facing a wall. The only other fights that really matter in this FP are Joss & Valk and Shae. Depending on gear (216, + knowing your rotation) there shouldn't even be a wipe here. You shouldn't even have to move at all. You can literally stand in stupid and still kill these two. You have to burn joss first because he puts stacks on the tank that hurt. Valk occasionally throws down red circles, but that damage isn't really significant if you pop DCD's or just have good heals in general. Just burn joss first, that's really all it takes. For shae, it's a bit more difficult. That boss is a reasonable heal check. Your healer can't be garbage and your tank has to keep aggro in one spot away from everyone else. I know my groups tank didn't do that. I had to kite around with defensives because of me having threat and trying to mitigate the cone damage. Tank. Needs. To. Keep. Aggro. If you stand behind Shae and the tank can hold threat, the healing required is mitigated a lot. It's fine. I do this as MDPS and I don't have a problem usually. If you don't have the DPS and tank is keeping aggro, that is a stupidity problem only. I already said why. Now for when she does her spin of death, there are a lot of strategies for that. SI's can put down phase walk and get directly out. SW's can use mad dash, or defensives + speed boosts. Just basically don't wait around when you know it's coming. Get out of it. The real problem in this fight is that it's rinse and repeat. You have to do all of this a few times and there can only be minimal screw ups or you wipe. But yeah, if you can get the rinse and repeat down, it usually works. Honestly, I'm not an amazing raider or anything, I'm like a month and a half into the game, and the only difference is that I bother to try and learn how to do content and learn how to play the game. This stuff isn't difficult.
