So...........  Is this "compatability" tab a Windows 10 thingy?  Because I'm running Win 7 and I don't see the tab.  Am I screwed?

I don't think so. Right click the icon for the launcher. Choose Properties from the list. Go to the Compatibility tab and it should be there.

This won't help me. I'm not on Steam. I have the actual client. I won't use Steam, it's too unreliable and not secure enough in my opinion.

It seems that I'm adding this argument a lot to these topics.  Instead of making QT changes that primarily impact new players:

Give people things they want for credits.
Example:  For the Seeds/Shroud mission, give them a CSR for 100K credits and disable the switch puzzles.
For Uprisings, 1 million for a CSR.
For non-story FPs: 3 million for non-sideplot FPs with a CSR.  5 million for sideplot (Rakghoul/Czerka) FPs.
For Ops, allow them to do a non-sideplot OP for 10 million with two CSR and a Sideplot story Op with two CSRs (Pretty much the Dread Masters Ops) for 20 Mil.  These might need a little watering down (or character buffing) but that's a minimal effort fix.

You could even throw in the abilty to earn the special quest Aratechs to appeal to completionists (or people like me who just like the Aratechs) as a way of subtly encouraging people to grind out the Ops/FPs that they normally wouldn't.

    ---------------------------------

As an example:  I only recently, after a decade and change of playing, broke a billion.  I'm not sure exactly how much that I have but let's just say 1.2 billion with 7 toons.  Under this system, here's what I'd have right now:

    Seeds/Shroud: 1 toon thus far hasn't completed.  200 k
Uprisings: Only applies to 3 toons and all three have passed it.  Still, for the other 4, it'd be nice to be able to pass the Rakghoul one in the future if not all of them.
Non-Story FPs: Colicoid FP hasn't been effectively available for 4 toons.  12 million
Ops: EV and KP: 20 Mil.  DM OPs (EC, TFB, S+V, DF, DC) 100 mil.  Presuming that I wait for my toons to beat Section X before hitting the DM Ops.  3 toons 360 mil 4 Toons 80 Mil.

So my 1.2 Billion would be currently - 452,200,000  for a total of 747,800,000.

And, Y'know what?  I'd pay that happily......and many others would as well.  These are credit sinks that people want.  These are the "carrots" that Bioware should be offering.  Not only does it act as a credit sink but it keeps people playing longer.  At my current rate of 4 sessions a week, that just added 9 weeks not counting the extra mat gathers that I offset my "story" playing with.  Given that I'm paying $15 a month to subscribe, that's an extra (rounding up) $45 in EA's pocket from me alone.

This is literally a win-win type of credit sink for everyone.

THIS. This would be an amazing credit sink and I would pay for it for sure! I want to do some of these ops but can't get a full group. Why not give us the droids if we drop 100mil to complete it??

The QT "sink" is just a way to make loyal customers mad. We're already mad enough, Bioware, why do you want to make us even more mad? Give us these carrots and we'll gladly drop millions on them! SMH...

But the QT tax isn't really a tax on new players.  Which by the way I just leveled a knight from 1 to 80, I haven't done the expansions yet and the game has already given me over 7 million credits.  It's more than enough credits to pay for travel and any other credit sink while leveling, but I shouldn't have that much money just for leveling only half the game.

Newer players don't have the legacy perks that we do.  I can fast travel at will, by the time their cool-downs expire, the game has given them enough to pay for it and then some.  Or they just use speeders and the space ports like normal.  Its a luxury tax that is coming out of my pocket and yours.

New players CAN have the same legacy perks that we do. It just takes a few hours and they can have the vast majority, IF they're willing to drop a bit of REAL MONEY on Cartel Coins.

The point here is REAL MONEY. We spent REAL MONEY on Cartel Coins, which we used to unlock Quick Travel, which was touted as a way to bypass the COST of the Taxis. Both the time cost AND the credit cost applied here.

The fact of the matter is that this was something we purchased with the understanding that we would have this as a PERMANENT PERK. Now we're having half of that perk stripped away, after YEARS of using it.

It's not a luxury to be taxed on something that was already paid for to be included as part of the experience. Stop defending this move.

I have been a long time player of this fantastic game and the most recent update has improved my gaming experience considerably.  I appreciate the effort you put into the game.

    Thanks,

    Probi

Umm...ok...what did it do to improve the gaming experience? I can't tell. I'm stuck at the server selection screen with no servers to select from, and no way to fix it that I can tell.

All I can see they've done with this update is add more reasons for loyal customers to turn their backs on them. This has been happening since 4.0 for me. I've given them chance after chance after chance and I'm getting fed up with them NOT listening to the players.

We don't want to WATCH the game, we want to PLAY it, yet they continue to put those ridiculously long and irrelevant to our character's immediate knowledge "cutscenes" in that take up valuable resources rather than focusing on what our characters are actually involved with directly. 4.0 did that so much it was beyond annoying. Taking us to the throne room to watch Emperor Daddy and his brats argue and whine about everything was purely filler. BW couldn't wrap their heads around the fact that we're playing a character in a MMO that doesn't have access to the throne room so neither should the player be viewing this stuff. They've continued with this shoddy storytelling for years.

Then they've removed features or changed others that we were perfectly happy with, but no, in the interest of "improving" the game, they break it every single time. And now with this new update they implement the QT tax. QT is a feature many of us PAID REAL MONEY to buy the Cartel Coins used for opening up this feature which would allow us to forego the time and credit cost of the taxis. Why tax us on this??? It makes zero sense! Why not put a higher tax on transactions on the GTN? Why not increase the cost of sending items to other players through the mail system??? Why not increase the cost of taxi travel itself? Nope, it's better to anger the customers who paid real money to use a feature than to do something that might make a real difference to those who are actually exploiting in the game. SMH...

I support the new travel fee and I'm extremely curious how many credits this is removing the first week of release.

You're in the minority. It's wrong, pure and simple, to charge for Quick Travel once it's been opened up, especially for those of us who paid REAL MONEY (AKA via Cartel Coins purchased) to be able to eliminate the time and credit cost of traveling! We're now having half of the service we paid for removed for no good reason at all.

Example - Yavin 4.  Speeder cost from Landing Area to Temple Ruins = 2,000cr.  QT cost for same = 2,092cr.

So this is what....a convenience tax for using the legacy perk we already paid extra for?

It's a way to chase loyal customers away, nothing more. I paid REAL MONEY to open up Quick Travel fully for all of my toons to avoid both the time and credit cost of using the taxis. Now that feature is gimped. Why? I don't know. It won't help inflation. It will just make players mad.

  8. I have the same issue. I've tried to log in twice. No servers populate the list.

This on top of not being able to log in at all yesterday? SMH...

    Shoddy work here, Bioware!

WHY IN THE GALAXY do we now have to pay for quick travel, when it used to be free?! The whole point of using the quick travel was to get to the different points WITHOUT having to pay to use a taxi. WHAT IN THE GALAXY were they thinking...?!

    Exactly.

And some of us paid with REAL MONEY to use QT through using Cartel Coins we purchased to open it up. So, what the actual heck, Bioware??? Why did you do this when you KNEW we paid with REAL MONEY to have this feature???

With the 7.2.1 PTS opening soon, players will be able to see the following adjustments:

    • Quick Travel now has a credit cost associated, with a minimum cost of 100 credits and a maximum cost of 5000. The cost to travel is dependent on the distance traveled.
    • Priority Transport Terminal now costs the original planet travel costs to transfer between daily areas.
    • Travel to Strongholds now costs the original planet travel costs to transfer between planets.
    • Repair cost formulas have been adjusted across the entirety of the game so that repair costs increase in relation to item level.
    • Durability of equipment should now be lost at a LOWER rate on death, but a slightly HIGHER rate in normal gameplay.

Quick Travel and travel TO Strongholds? NO. We already sunk millions into our SHs, and in some cases REAL MONEY into our Quick Travel, if we used Cartel Coins to pay for the ability to move around fast. IDC about the Priority Transport Terminals costing, but I do think that since we earned use of those travel terminals through gameplay, there should be some sort of reward for it. Making it the original travel cost makes zero sense and will cause people to stop using them.

It would make more sense to put original travel costs to the planets on the auto travel to planet when you accept the weekly Heroic mission for that planet from the solo tab, or any other auto travel upon accepting a mission that takes you to the planet. It would also make more sense to charge people original travel costs to travel to SOMEONE ELSE'S Stronghold, and I wouldn't have any issue with that.

Another thought, increase the cost of being smuggled into the other faction SH. Instead of 1000, make it 5000 or 10000 credits. It makes it more likely for players to purchase two SHs versus just the one on their first faction's home planet. Also, make having at least one home planet SH a requirement to open up access to all of the other SHs. Some skip the DK and Coruscant SHs and go straight to the Nar Shaddaa SH because it costs nothing for both sides to travel to it - no smuggling costs there.

Repair cost formulas and durability of equipment changes make sense, except for durability being lost at a lower rate on death? Why? That reduces repair cost. Defeat should be something we're actively trying to avoid. Making it more expensive to repair on death can be one way to push players to learn their skills better, and it creates more of a credit sink for the game.

I understand that Life Day is an event that players look forward to at the end of the year, however, announcing when Life Day were to happen would prematurely announce when 7.2 could launch.

The December event article is a unique case.  We intentionally did not include Life Day in this event article until we confirmed and announced the 7.2 date. During the livestream, we said that 7.2 was coming this winter and that was the safest timeline we could announce. While it wasn't definitive as you put it, it was an indicator of when to expect both 7.2 and Life Day.

I agree with the OP, though. You have an obligation to be as transparent with your player base as reasonably possible. The OP **NEVER** asked to announce WHEN Life Day were to happen. They asked that you give an abstract.

"Life Day will happen in December." is an abstract, yet gives us players enough knowledge to understand that we CAN expect a Life Day celebration this year, rather than wondering while you sit around giving us nothing.

How is it too difficult to just give us at least that much?

  12. Hi racknut,

It looks like when you restored from a back up, your game is now in an inconsistent state. If you do a re-install that should get you working again. Re-installing right now will unflag you from the testing pool, however, there is a very small chance that you could be selected again as a tester when we do another round of testing.

We are having discussions on compensation plans for the players who were impacted, and we'll have a better idea of what this looks like once testing is 100% concluded. Appreciate you working with us through this.

Or maybe allow us players to decide whether we want to be part of this test or not. It's not right that it's just forced on people!

  13. How can I tell you how much I detest this "feature???"

You claim to want to IMPROVE quality of life in the game, but then force us to trek ALLLLLLLLL THE WAY BACK to the mission terminal to pick up the missions ALLL OVER AGAIN. It's beyond annoying!

This is NOT an improvement! It's completely ludicrous! Please revert it back to where the missions STAY IN OUR MISSION LOG until WE finish them or drop them ourselves.

  14. i think the fact that this is the response to a announcement that showed the dev team attempting to pat themselves on the back for a job well done despite the promised content in the 10 year anniversary coming 8 months late shouldn't be surprising. This announcement is tactless and has only pissed off the playerbase even more after months of silence about the state of the game.

    this!

  15. I would say that they did?

They quietly changed it, with a little blurb in patch notes that the contrast was being addressed. They NEVER came onto the forums and talked with those of us who had physical pain from the contrast. Not once. They ignored our threads.

  16. I was one of the people affected by the contrast issue in our inventory and banks. It made the game completely unplayable for me. The first day of the patch, I struggled to play for four hours then had to spend several hours in bed, fighting the migraine headache from hell. I'm prone to migraines.

I lost out on all of the rest of my subscription because of this. I HAD TO STOP PLAYING because of this. Yet when so many of us - myself included - complained here in the forums, all we got from you was crickets.

I don't care about reimbursement or anything like that - though if you want to replace those sub days some of us lost I wouldn't complain - I just want you to acknowledge us, let us know that you saw our comments, that you understood that there was a problem that needed to be fixed.

Sure, this wasn't a big bug in an ops or an issue with clipping in a particularly expensive outfit from the Cartel Market. No, this was the entire game was unplayable for a bunch of us, because of one single tiny detail you guys royally messed up.

    Crickets don't cut it here.

At least tell us you see us when we tell you something is wrong.

  17. Whose idea was it to drop repeatable missions from our mission logs??? Whomever it was should be FIRED!

Revert it back to the way it was! I'm sick and tired of working toward a mission and it being taken from me because I didn't "meet the deadline." This isn't WORK, this is a GAME! I don't want to be limited by a deadline to do these missions! Unless it has an actual timer to get things done, such as the Space Missions, then it should not be removed from our logs. Let us finish what we started!

  18. that means more on place where the heroic's are open without a barrier a lot off strong players can bully the other players more by keep destroying the monsters there need to kill then with AOE attack's?

that bully's can keep destorying the class mission monsters you need to kill or have the item from but you cant since some people are keep destorying then for the fun off bully with AOE attacks?

that you wane do with your guild defeat the world boss but cant since strong high level gear people are defeating then solo always?

that are 3 big problems from the past that people have done since it was fun for then to bully other players with stuff like that.

so you wane have the bully problem come back more since all the old players like me that have play without the level sync system knows about that type problems and it was not fun at all and it was back then a big problem back then.

So, you go to a different instance and the so-called bully won't bother you again. Heck, group up with three others to do your heroics and have one person go to one instance, all the others go to another, and when the bully follows one, summon everyone to the other instance so he can't follow. There are workarounds. Whining about "bullies" is not a good reason to keep this system that quite a lot of us absolutely loathe.

  19. Hard no. I played the game back when there was no scaling, and it greatly limited your ability to play at your own pace. The moment you got over the max level for the planet, all of the content for that planet became redundant. There was little incentive to revisit the planet or go through all the quests or play through bonus arcs, etc. You would be able to one-kill everything. I consider myself a casual player, but that was way too boring even for me.

No, it didn't limit your ability to play at your own pace. You're more limited now because how fast you level up if you do even ONE thing outside just the class story puts you out of the level for that planet quicker than you can even reach it! None of the content on that planet is relevant to you by the time you reach the planet. The only rewards that are relevant to you might be trash drops and only because they're similarly leveled to your level. That's it. Mission rewards are exactly the same as they always were.

Aside from that, the way it used to be, you would potentially NOT level enough before you reach the next planet, so you'd have to do something else in between planets - run a flashpoint, do a few PvP matches (ground or space), do side missions, do the planetary series, in order to bring your level up to where it would match the lowest level for the next planet. By the time you left the previous planet, you'd EARNED the right to one-shot those mobs and EARNED the privilege of those mobs ignoring you, because you were too bada** for them to mess with.

I would rather be running Black Talon or farming heroics on Hoth or exploring Voss, than doing dailies on Iokath.

Again, you level too darned fast to be running Black Talon. You're locked out once you reach 15. You could always farm heroics anywhere once you reach the level for them, but before you got to EARN The right to overpower the mobs once you outleveled them. Not so anymore.

    It's not perfect

It's nowhere close to perfect because it's pure stupidity to lower your level to match the planet!

...the chapters give significantly bigger rewards between lvls 61-66 I think, but not after 66, because reasons™, etc.

Nope. You've got that all wrong. When Fallen Pants happened, you were level 65 and that's where the chapters began. The rewards between 61 and 64 were these pirate looking sets from Rishi and Yavin 4 and weren't "significantly bigger rewards" in the least. Back then, we had either Data Crystals or Commendations, I don't remember which, to turn in for gear, both as we leveled up and at endgame.

When they released 4.0, they made this change to level scaling for the planets and brought in gear boxes that gave blue pieces of gear for the heroics and they removed the Crystals or Commendations (whichever it was by then). The gear you get in the Supplies section at that point was obtained using credits, except for endgame gear, they had yet another system in place for that (tokens...).

By level 66, you were supposed to be close to hitting Odessen, if not already there. Once on Odessen, you have these non-companion contacts who need special boxes to gain influence with them. You had to have a way to earn them. At level 66 you begin earning them through heroics instead of getting gear boxes. These lockboxes are also used for the Star Fortress companions.

Those are the "reasons™" and not one of them was a good one. Commendations and Data Crystals were just fine. Outleveling planets was just fine. What's not just fine is being level 80 with level 80 skills and being beat on by a level 2 mob on Tython because that little bitty level 2 mob thinks he's the...stuff. SMH...

  20. No, you've got that backwards. ...

Spending time and resources on ANYTHING comes at the direct expense of not using that time and those resources to do anything else in its place. The developers COULD waste time redesigning heroics -or- they could invest their very limited resources into making new content. This is a consequence of programmers having, at most, two hands. The people who think that these suggestions are simple changes that simple require one guy to snap his fingers are people who have never written a line of code in their lives.

    Actually, YOU have it backwards.

They didn't have to change it so that dailies drop from your mission log every day. They didn't have to change it so that weeklies drop from your log every week. They could have left it the heck alone and everyone would have been very happy. Instead, they used resources they could have used on making the rest of the game actually WORK on release day to make this STUPID change that NOBODY WANTED.

  21. This is working as intended. Similar games with daily quests operate the same way. The reset is at the same time everyday. Plan to finish either before or start after. It's so simple :)

I remember the old saying "If all your friends were jumping off a cliff, would you do it, too?"

I think that applies here. If all the other games are doing it, is it fair for this one to do it, too? What about originality and individuality? Hmm? Some of us don't want to play all the other games. We want to play THIS one. It's why we're here. It's why we're making a stink on these forums, because we are NOT happy with these changes!

By the way, it is NOT so simple for some to plan to finish before or start after the reset. Some are in the MIDDLE of their gaming time and have not been able to finish as they're Right In The Middle Of Doing Them! It might be simple for you, but not simple for everyone, and you are not everyone. Generalizations in this case don't work.
