  1. Hello,

Ive recently rerolled to TEH and I was wondering if anyone might know who the bigger RP guilds are? Ive read the info here on the forums as well as the guild list, but its hard to get a real idea how big these guilds are or how active. Ive spent quiet a few nights RPing in the fleet Cantina (its so nice to find all this RP!), but I haven't been able to judge who the bigger guilds are as the people hanging around all seem to be from different guilds barring maybe 1 or 2 of their guildies present.

I am looking for a home for the my current IA sniper as well as my BH. I will also be rolling Rep characters as well. I assume most of the big guilds do a little of everything so not too concerned with who is doing PvE progression as much as who is big and active on the server. Thanks!

  2. Hi there!

Your community sounds amazing and i watched a few of your vids, very fun! I have recently returned to SWTOR and have rerolled Rep on this server. I was wondering do you accept people still leveling? And I plan on leveling a Trooper and Jedi, not sure on advanced classes yet, and was wondering if you have vacancies in your respective guilds? Would it be possible to join with my two planned characters? Not sure exactly which I may level to 55 first, may decided depending on the guild situation.

I also have a 50Merc and 40 Sniper, but they are on Bastion. Its possible I might xfer them over, but for now Id like to focus on the other half of the game I'm not as familiar with. I am subbed and looking to have some fun with this game again after reading about all the wonderful changes and additions. I stopped playing about 7 months after release due to the declining player base.

I haven't done much RP in video games, but I'm no stranger to the old pen and paper days with DnD and Rift. Ive always wanted to RP online and I absolutely love Star Wars so I think I could do it pretty well once I make a few friends and observe some interactions.

  3. firxan shark is so lightly poulated there is no economy or PVP or player help. I have a guild of 2 close friends and we were thinkiing of transfering but the sever they want to send us to is heavy pop now ane we don't want to get into the waiting ques like befor so we are thinking of just staying and seeing.

If Group Finder was Xserver Id say sure why not, but you really wont be playing for long when you start to log in and your the only one on fleet.

  4. Hey there,

I was wondering if the following issue was known (by Bioware or other players).

We submitted outselves with 4 guildies in the groupfinder and Taral V was selected for us. After killing a few mobs one of our guildies had a dc (was still in the group but had a dc icon on his name). Since we know that happens sometimes to him we decided to wait and after 1 minute he came back. the log stated "name" reconnected.

Now we got another message from the groupfinder to travel to a flashpoint again (Koan). We still had all the T5 quests open and we had new koan quests open so we didnt know what to do. We decided to proceed with T5 to see if we would still get out Black Hole tokens. Answer: No

For us this wasn't an issue because we where at the start of the FP but it would have been when this dc had occured at the final boss. Is this a know issue? Anyone else had this?

TL:DR: If someone has a DC in the groupfinder and comes back another Flashpoint will be selected.

I used Group Finder all weekend and did not experience this. Maintenance today and new patch notes are up, seems to be a lot to do with the Group Finder system so maybe this will be resolved.

  5. EA's Frank Gibeau has said to website gameindustry.biz that the company will going 100% digital in the near future:

    http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-07-02-ea-is-going-to-be-a-100-percent-digital-company-period-says-gibeau

Just to summarise, this would mean no more physical copies of games in stores.

Whilst currently this doesn't appear to affect swtor with all the updates and patches released digitally, would this however decrease the chances of a possible Expansion Pack for the game in the future?

Why would this even be an issue? The real question is will we start seeing a drop in price of games if they no longer need to manufacture the physical media? Probably not.

  6. Ive said it before, devs don't know their code. I cant explain why this has happened, maybe they fired original dev's for new ones that have yet to learn it. They honestly have little to no idea how their patch will react on their live systems which is why each patch follows emergency maintenance followed by a small patch.

Ive also suggested they open up PTS as Free2Play during testing only. This way they can get a huge amount of testers, something they claim is part of the problem. But that has been buried in the "suggestion box".

Mods will say I'm wrong, but I know better.

  7. While we are on the topic of bugs and patches, I had a suggestion. If you really want to throw your code against the "wild" so to speak, why not have a F2P PTR server?

    - Only allow access during development and testing periods with character wipes for non-paying accounts

    - You will have a insurmountable amount of testers finding practically every possible bug in every possible scenario

    - Potentially grow your subscriber base with the ability to sample the game and upcoming content that is expected to have bugs in the environment instead of providing a trial to the Live product that has bugs.

    - Keep paying customers by providing finished and 99% bug free patches and content

Looks like a win/win to me, thoughts?

  8. There are instances where multiple issues can contribute to the same symptom. Not every issue has multiple possible causes, but any time we continue to see a problem after a fix for a cause is in, we will keep investigating and issue more fixes as we're able. If you see an issue persist (especially after we've published a patch note that should address it), we encourage you to submit it to us via the In-Game Customer Service portal. Make sure you include as many details as you can - where you were when it happened, exactly what you experienced, etc. More details can help us reproduce the issue and hunt down any continuing causes. Thanks for taking the time to post your feedback!

This translates to "We have no idea how to debug our code, nor do we have any idea how our code interfaces with each patch. We rely on our players to find bugs and can only recreate a bug after its pointed out by a player. Player feedback is paramount to our development".

    What a joke....

  9. from the Jugg perspective,

Immortal - Tanking spec. works best with DPS companion (though if you use healing companion, you will be able to solo group stuff, fun challenge). DPS is low, but high mitigation. You depend on your companion allot for the extra DPS. A bit slower then the other two, but more flexible for making errors.

Vengeance - DPS build. focuses on more single target damage and DoT's. relatively high mitigation's for a DPS class. Probably the most common leveling spec (Immortal being second). At higher levels deals a ton of damage. most effective with a healing companion (though DPS companions can provide a fun challenge, and tank companions are a mix). Much higher DPS then Immortal, but squishier, more reliant on stuns and healing (via medpack or companion).

Rage - DPS spec. focuses around building a series of attacks into a large burst damage finisher. Damage is much burstier, focuses on AoE damage more then Vengeance. Not as common as Vengeance, but still definitely playable as a leveling spec. Same limitations as Vengeance.

Overall, my preferred leveling spec is Vengeance, but there's many others who like rage and Immortal. but if you were to pick most common for leveling, I'd say in order is Vengeance - Immortal - Rage. both Vengeance and Immortal are really close, though come patch 1.3 this gap may widen (immortal is losing close to 20% of their already low damage).

    Thank you for this response

  10. In a nutshell, only two weeks of testing.

Pretty much. This is what happens when you layoff your dev staff while trying to deploy game changing patches I guess.

There is a maintenance tomorrow morning, maybe they will get some of it fixed.

  11. Ok so I just resubbed for 1.3 after breaking close after the launch of 1.2. Going over the patch notes I see the following:

"Barrage now properly affects Unload while wielding a single blaster pistol."

    Single blaster pistol what?

Why would a Merc not have a second blaster pistol? Especially an Arsenal Merc?

  12. I love how people think that their experiences are shared by everyone else in exactly the same way. Your SWTOR experience is largely defined by which server you are on. I'm now on one of the aussie servers...Result is 2 instances of fleet because it's so busy. No shortage of people for flashpoints, heroics and other stuff..We even have people pugging the ops for HM and Nightmare. In short, it's probably the ideal situation for Bioware and one which in an ideal world, exactly how they envisaged the game experience to be.

And this is exactly why BW no longer gets my money. Nothing against you Aussies, I understand you guys wanted a better ping time etc. But I sure as **** did not wait in 2hr+ queues at launch to ensure I was on a nicely populated server just to have BW sweep the population out from under me by giving you free Xfers and telling the rest of the player base "sometime early summer". I have a sneaky suspicion Im not the only one who has canceled because of this.

  13. Not really much to say. Nobody can blame you, it's no fun on a dead server. Hopefully you'll come back to us when server transfers open up :)

Pretty much truth OP, no one can blame you. I too am in the same boat and I am even in a guild with semi active members. But since endgame is lacking the next best thing is to roll new alts which has now turned into a single player game.

  14. While server transfers isn't a issue with me I imagine they want to make sure that it works right the first time. That takes time.If people lose their chrs during a transfer you will see some very unhappy folks.

I keep seeing people post this and I just want to point out that they just allowed transfers to the new Aussie servers a few weeks back. Obviously it *********** works..... So what are they waiting on?

  15. I know a lot of people (myself included) have felt like patch 1.2 was essentially fluff and features that should have been available at launch.

As such, my guild agreed last night that we're quitting unless we get new content in May. Particularly with Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2 on the horizon. Now granted - James Ohlen himself has promised there will be monthly updates:

I suppose we'll have to wait and see. I'm certainty not holding my breath. Swtor currently feels very dull and static. For a Raiding Guild - we collectively were not impressed by EC. Though it's a step in the right direction from the abomination that was Tier 1.

Anyone else feeling the same regarding 1.3?

Seems legit, the answer is yes. But only until I see the few things that I'm waiting for which should be in on 1.3 and you can be sure Ill resub faster than you can blink.

I dont PvP because half a pug is worse than a full pug. Leveling a new toon gets stagnant because sitting around in Fleet to try and group for content is just too archaic. As new tiers get introduced running HM's when you first hit 50 are going to be crucial to gear up. I havent even seen much of the FP's past Colicoid because no one wants to sit in Fleet while they are trying to level. Id be happy with a global chat channel, but apparently LFG is the way they want to go. Well that was promised to be in the works for the future back in Feb, if they cant have it out by May then Ill just unsub and wait. Not looking to leave for another game or anything like that, I just want to see a few features to help with the MMORPG experience for my money. BW will get there, but 5 months with declining concurrent sessions is starting to show. Plus allowing free Xfers to servers in other countries has not helped population which in turn is hurting the experience.

  16. I was hoping that this wasn't another warcraft style game where if you don't play every waking minute you lose out on most stuff thats going on. I had no notion of this rakghoul event starting or ending (I just stumbled across it), or even where to hand in these dna samples I'm left with. It seems to me that they just want the hard core gamers. I bought a six month subscription, but since I like to play the game and not just grind to fifty, I'm not worthy of the free month. I've been a Star Wars fan since I saw the first one in the theater, but if it's going to be geared just for the end game and hard core, I'll just my subscription run out.

You sir have no business in online games if you cant handle the game moving forward with or without you.

  17. Gotta catch 'em all!

So, pets were originally kind of a rare thing. You could purchase some, get one with special editions of the game, and there wasn't that much focus on them.

Now it seems like Bioware is putting too much effort and emphasis on them, with pets for Legacy subscribers, special event pets, Unusual Eggs, different colored birds or types of taun tauns and what have you. My question is: Why?

Are pets really very Star Warsy? No. Do they really add anything to the game compared to companions that can already follow you around? No.

I don't recall a single instance in the movies where a character had a non-companionesque pet (i.e. not a person, or droid) trailing around after them all the time. Sure, we all wish Jar Jar was more of a silent pet, who probably should've found himself enslaved, on a shock collar leash, but really he'd just be more like an unattractive Vette than anyway.

It's not like I have anything major against them, other than it seems like the time spent on designing them and the ways you acquire them could be much better spent on other areas and other content, rather than having hundreds of silly little creatures trailing around implausibly after everyone.

See the beauty of game development is you have teams designated for certain portions of the game. So BW had to give the interns something to do hence StarWars pets. At least they arent pooring the amount of dev time and resources into Poke battles like that other game.
