  1. I acted like a drunken fool and threw up behind the cantina's statue.
  2. I'm pretty interested in doing this, but i'm afraid I just don't play enough to do this. I usually only play an hour a night, sometimes even less.
  3. Eh, I disagree with some of this, but agree on other points. Personally though, I think the emote combat style is a waste of time. Yes, it makes a great story, but if you have a legitimate reason to be fighting someone, then you better be ready for the consequences, good or bad. If your target is someone high level, then perhaps you should recruit a few people to help you take him down. I say this because I roleplay a bounty hunter. one of the reasons I chose an RP-PVP server was to actually RP a bounty hunter, take jobs, and hunt players that other players want "eliminated". Unfortunately, none of this is happening. It can be done since PVP servers have the contested areas, but no one seems to be taking advantage of ti from an RP standpoint. Honestly, it's quite sad. I understand that some players don't want to take the risk by having RP events in PVP contested areas, but that would just make the experience that much richer.
  4. This has turned out to be a rather interesting thread. I'm looking at creating a new character on a RP server, and that Black Suns guild sounds interesting as well... Either way, looking for some good RP, I jus thaven't really found it much yet. I have a 23 Merc on Jung Ma, but beyond some RP with Dark Intent, haven't really had much success in finding RPers. I'd like to start off fresh and join a guild that would like to do some heavy RP, but not so heavy where I'm literally walking around. That just equals boredom to me lol. Any takers? I'm thinking of making another BH or perhaps an Inquisitor this time around.
  5. I'm on an RP-PVP server... I figured it'd be good for the PVP side of RP, yet I haven't encountered such just as of yet. Granted i"m only lvl 22, but I've been trying to actually RP a bounty hunter and find bounties... Well either way, it seems that most ofthe RP guilds tend to try and avoid conflict when it comes to RP. So, honestly, I don't think it's gonna make much difference either way if you choose PVP or PVE. PVP may just provide that avenue of roleplay if you ever do actually get into roleplayed, yet spontanious battles, rather than just agreed-upon duels in a PVE server. I'm not in a guild yet though... so that might have soemthing to do with it. Honestly, I haven't found a guild I want to join. LOL maybe I'm just too picky. I say, find a good group to RP with and stick with it. And RP in /say as much as possible and I"m sure you'll learn the ropes pretty quick.
  6. I haven't read the whole thread, so I'm not sure if this suggestion has been posted... but I would take a further step in allowing people to post bounties on other players. If a hunter finds the bounty, and is successful in killing the character, then the poster of the bounty has to pay up.
  7. Hey all. I've decided to create a Trooper on the republic side. I'd like to start him off on a good, somewhat established RP server and get into a guild. I've been plyaing Empire side on Jung Ma, for RP and PVP (still no guild in there yet lol) so yeah... looking forward to something a bit different too. I want to get into some good RP, and although I'm partial to PVP servers, I know that the RP there isn't going to be as deep as in a PVE server. I'm east coast if that helps any. Any idea which server I should go to?
  8. Indeed. I have done this sort of RP in the past (both on the dominant and submissive side) in either a light RP role and also as more... erotic play. It's something I wouldn't do if it's your first time trying out roleplaying of any sort, since it's kind of on a whole different level. You also have to have a LOT of trust in the other person. As for Master/Apprentice RP, it's kind of the same thing in a sense, but it's hard to find someone that can play either role well, and in a fun way too.
  9. I'm going by history here. No, I do not know if Bioware will or will not implement our ideas in the future, yet the chances are pretty slim. Show me a game that did not have the mechanics built into it to help promote RP among the community at or near the time of launch, that had nearly the same mechanics as SWTOR has today, and implemented the ideas that have been hashed out among our community later on in its life-cycle. Ultima Online (pre-2000 era) had these mechanics built in, although it was simplistic: Message boards in game on the bank walls that anyone could write on for example. SWG had classes such as the dancer that helped promote community play. EVE online is basically one big sim, with bounty boards, a working economy that was even exploited, and such. Granted, I'm not an expert, I don't play MMOs much; in fact I rarely play them more than for a couple months at a time (although I did play UO from launch in 1997 until shortly after the dual worlds were introduced). But I do not see SWTOR implementing mechanics in the game to promote RP among the classes already in the game without major changes or game-changing expansion packs. However, I'm hoping I'm wrong and that Bioware does listen to its community and helps promote these things, and do so without breaking the game.
  10. I have two characters on Jung Ma... Jeena, a bounty hunter, a sith inquisitor, and I think I might make a trooper for the republic side.
  11. Unfotunately, this will not come to pass, at least not before I lose interest in the game or something better comes along. If certain game mechanics aren't implemented at, or near launch date, then it may never be implemented. Bioware made this game more like a KOTOR 3 rather than an MMO, and it's going to stay that way.
  12. put mechanics into the game to help promote player created content. Such as, bounty boards, crafting jobs, transport jobs, basically help players create their own quests for people to complete. This would be great for guildies too.
  13. Yes, I agree with a couple posters here... the "roleplaying" in this game seems severely limited as of right now. Where's the bounty hunter boards for bounty hunters? Why can't a player make a bounty on someone for a hunter to pursue? Why can't a player post a request for someone to craft a certain item for him, payment made upon delivery? Where's the ability to create player created quests (even simple ones)? Too many of the quests in this game seem to be "go here, kill/retrieve that, go back here, collect." Granted, almost all quests are like that in RPGs, I understand that, but there is a lack of player influence in this. I think guilds and the community can benefit from player created content. Sure, guilds can post "quests" or "bounties" in order to do so, but the mechanics are not built in to assist players and guilds in creating their own content. Honestly, right now I'm playing the game closer to a single player game, because the story line stuff is actually pretty decent. But there doesn't seem to be much MMO in it. I also dislike the fact that there isn't much in the way of classes or skills. SWG had dancers and such...SWTOR has war-minded classes. The mechanics to promote more casual RP gameplay is simply not there or severely lacking. You know what I'd like to see? Me, I'm a bounty hunter. I'd like the ability to have a crew, even just two or three or four people, on my ship, travelling and hunting actual bounties posted by the players or as random content by the game itself. On the side we might pick up smuggling or transport jobs. Maybe we'll hire on a dancer to entertain customers. That's the kind of gameplay I would like to see, at least in my case.
  14. It's like Skyrim, where you sneak up to a boss, shoot him in the face with an arrow... "What was that" *searches* "Oh, must've been nothing!" then shoot him again. Rinse, repeat until boss is dead. lol.
  15. My highest level character is 12, and i still try to RP as much as possible... but it's hard, and it's one of the main reasons I got into this game. Eh. Ah well.
  16. Lol. This is funny. Just ignore them, there's not really much you can do about it. Except maybe threaten them with castration. But some of them might get turned on by that, so better to just leave it alone.
  17. I haven't been able to find much, if any, RP on some of the servers. Granted, so far I've only been toying with the classes, but even so, it seems hard to just get people interested. I've had four instances where I actually participated in a group RP. Ah well. As it stands, I think I'm gonna make an RP-PVP server my home since it appears that PVP can happen outside of the warzones. Gonna go either bounty hunter or imperial agent. I love those blasters! I would like to join a guild that has medium-heavy roleplay involved. Please let me know!
  18. Sorry to thread-jack, but I'm also considering such a role, and not just a padawan to master role either. I might consider doing a young trooper or bounty hunter, that sorta thing.
  19. I tend to RP whenever the chance comes up. I've RP'd in the main chat channel as well.
  20. Hey everyone! My name's Nathan, I'm currently on the jung-Ma RP-PVP server. I'm curious if there's any rp guilds out there. I've got a looong history of roleplaying. I might move to a different server if the RP is better in another server, since so far I haven't really run across anyone who RPs much, but then again I've been toying with the different classes. Just made Sith Juggernaught, and I'm thinking of making a trooper to toy around with. Anyways, I'd like to join an RP guild or two. I might play two different characters on a couple of servers. I'm also a pretty casual player, although I do delve deeply into roleplay when the chance comes around. I've looked around here on the forums and have seen discussion about the different guilds and servers and such. But quite honestly it's somewhat frustrating trying to figure it all out. I also haven't played any MMOs since wwaaay back in the old Ultima Online days, so I'm getting used to the mechanics of it as well. I tend to roleplay fairly neutral people, although I do well in military RP. I have found that i enjoy playing a Jedi and making darker choices depending on the situation... quite honestly, my Jedi are not goody-two-shoes. And my Sith is quite interesting to play. Looking forward to figuring out a persona for a trooper character. Well this has gone on long enough, shoot me a message if you wish. Or reply here, I'm interested in learning what people have to offer here. Keep in mind that I do want to get into some PVP, more RP based though.
