  1. Have several related ideas, all involving colour and customizations for various items and components. I think that an interesting option for mounts and vehicles could be the authorization/utilization of dye packs. Vehicles would be differentiated not by colour as they are now, but instead by pattern. Fire patterns, wavy, etc. but you can make them any colour. While we're on the subject, perhaps more dye packs or customizations? Not just the vibrant cartoony green, but more subdued forest green or olive colours. Why not go the lightsaber route and add mint green, sea green? Note, I'm not saying only expand green, just using it as an example. A way to customize your dye packs when crafting would be really cool. You have a purple primary and a green secondary? Put them together via crafting and make your own crazy creation. Speaking of lightsabers, I think it would be interesting to be able to craft more detailed crystals. That is, not just craft a red crystal/white core. Make a gold core, green aura, pink glow, decide exactly what colours and shine you desire. You could get some really fun and funky combinations that could easily personalize and differentiate your beloved laser sword from others, a real mark of uniqueness for your Jedi/Sith characters. They may mock your mint/pink/black blade, but when they're struck down by clashing colours of light, it is you who shall have the final laugh. (I mentioned crafting, admittedly, so if I've put this topic in the wrong subforum do let me know.)
  2. That has got to be one of the best things I've read all year, I love it. I missed out on that one, as I chose the Light-side option. Nice to get such detailed advice from a pro. I will keep it all in mind, thanks! Though I played through Ilum already without knowing this. Derp. Thanks! Your enthusiasm is as infectious as rakghoul plague! Really, as you mentioned in the beginning the story and more than that the agency of this game is what makes it so enjoyable! And if you'll let me ramble in return...
  3. I wasn't thinking that, because I have no idea what that means, ha ha ha. I know, I know, the Inquisitor storyline is like a book I can't put down. I knew I wanted to play a Sith sorcerer kind of character because I love all the Expanded Universe ancient Sith history. I also happen to be fascinated with archaeology in the real world, so when I was given a story that gives me a chance to do some ancient Sith archaeology? It has been this nerd's dream come true. Talos Drellik said "I'm a Naga Sadow man myself," and I couldn't help but think "I know who that is!" It's a storyline that involves the kinds of characters I enjoy reading and writing about and while I have tried the Trooper story a little bit; it just hasn't "grabbed" me the way the Sith Inquisitor tale has. Regarding Talos, he is my most recent sidekick and I must concur that he is a delight to bring along on missions. He is such a dork and I love him to bits for it, partly because he acts pretty much how I would if I lived in the kind of crazy universe he inhabits, with wide eyed wonder and enthusiasm.
  4. It's less "excited about companions" and more that I enjoy the stories and getting to know the characters. I know some folks are lukewarm about it, but I still genuinely enjoy Bioware's writing and characters (who else here has played Planescape Torment?) I'm enjoying Talos Drellik's unbridled enthusiasm for the mysterious, I love learning about Khem Val and his connection to the ancient past, and I like seeing Ashara's internal struggle and journey from Jedi to something in between. That's the real fun for me, the side stories of the colourful cast of characters you accrue through the game.
  5. That's excellent news to hear. That's incredibly kind of you, but not necessary, I'm on Jedi Covenant anyway.
  6. Yeah, I'm aware of Treek but don't have those million creds to afford the little fuzzball.
  7. Ah, still new, no I haven't. Thanks for the clarification.
  8. Wait, hold on, full stop, what?! You can straight up get a whole new companion via THORN?
  9. Might as well, but I had my eye on the green/black 'saber crystal and the infected varactyl mount. Oh well, patience is a virtue, I suppose.
  10. I've recently learned about reputation and reputation missions, but more importantly I've seen the cool stuff you can get from factions. How do I find a terminal with THORN missions? I can't seem to find it nor would I even know where to even begin looking. Thanks for your time.
  11. I suppose it's all down to a person's initial experience. If you met jerks right out the gate that will colour your opinion and the same goes for if you meet some friendly folks first thing. Thus you get people having vastly different impressions about the same community. I'm thinking I'll do as one person suggested and make a test character on another server see what happens that way. So wish my new Sith Assassin Gedräsh luck as he makes the galaxy safe for tyranny and oppression.
  12. I've noticed this too. Sometimes it will come out completely the wrong way than how I intended it. I'd think something more descriptive would make sense. Rather than a summary of what they might say, the way they have [Lie] in front of some choices. My idea would be something like this; [insult Khem Val] [offer to help] [brofist Khem Val, because he's just that awesome.]
  13. Truer words never spoken... Yeah, my brother plays Lord of the Rings Online, and when I saw that they started doing server mergers I couldn't help but wonder if it's a sign, a... harbinger if you will, of the beginning of the end.
  14. Is that a problem? How "cringey" of rp are we talking here?
  15. I used to frequent the fetid pools of 4chan... I've built up a small measure of tolerance. Would you say it's a "wretched hive of scum and villainy?"
  16. Hmm, still new and must ask; what does this term mean?
  17. So all of my characters are currently on the Jedi Covenant server but I find it is sometimes rather sparsely populated, which leaves me wondering what I will do once I get to high levels and begin playing Operations etc. Even more so as I often play later in the evening and many have gone to bed by the time I log on. I've heard that US side that Harbinger is the more active server but I thought I would perhaps ask more seasoned players their thoughts on this. Would a server switch make sense or be beneficial, or is staying put the better option? Looking forward to the community's answers regarding the matter.
  18. Well that's frustrating. Thanks for the information.
  19. Is it possible to re-spec my current Vanguard trooper into a Commando trooper without just starting a new character?
  20. For my two, both of them have a little mental character sheet, a sort of origin story that I use to inform their choices in the game. For example, Ymara, my new trooper, was a small town girl (living in a lonely world) whose hometown was attacked by the Empire. Bombs and fire and all the usual rough times. However, the place was saved when an army of Republic Troopers came and fought the Empire back. As a little girl she viewed these valiant souls as knights in white, and told herself she wanted to join their ranks and be a proud soldier of the Republic. She lands on Ord Mantell and sees all the corruption, finding that her white knights have some real bad eggs... she's furious. She is enraged and resolves that she is going to be "one of the good ones." To be that valiant ideal she grew up believing in, that white knight who swoops in to save the day. She follows her heart, true to her word and her duty, never harming innocents. She has absolutely no qualms disobeying her superiors, for she believes she answers to a higher authority of truth and justice. However, when it comes to corruption and/or the Empire, she is merciless. Anger and disgust for the people who ransacked her home... when speaking of the Empire I go for the more ruthless angry dialogue choices. So what about you? What little side stories have you written for your characters?
  21. I didn't think Sith were restricted from romance or other dalliances, I mean lore-wise Malgus had his Twi'lek lover. I kind of figured the Sith could do whatever they wanted, given that their philosophy tends towards selfishness. Of course, given this selfish nature, I imagine it would be more common that such relationships are casual and/or exploitative. I can't imagine many Sith having genuine love in their hearts. It wouldn't shock me if some of the higher-up Sith have a harem or concubines. I'd imagine there are a lot of Sith who engage in the bow-chicka-wow-wow.
