  1. They were offered the choice of any force powers, and I think you missed what I was saying.... I am talking about the availability of a token, not the warning of a final choice... I get the there is a warning to the system of second combat style... But listing that its currently done one way, and using that as an excuse to not add something that there seems to be an interest in, seems kinda.... Dumb. Also, I did read it, but saying a choice is perma, then later changing that is something that happens in games... its called updates. In SWTOR, you used to have to go to a trainer to change specialization, you used to have to unlock taxi points, you originally could only had dark or light side powers when choosing the correct faction, you used to only have access to a single class, that was attached to an origin, that was locked..... All of these things have been changed or updated over time.... And it doesn't even have to be a complete reroll either, just combat style, or hell, sell us a third combat style slot. Either way, its only a win to add something like this. At least to the players.... I mean, if your against it, I guess you hate player freedom and opportunity? And if so, why bother sticking around in forums that are literally labeled "Suggestion Box"
  2. Also, when checking fleet during those two screen shots, SF had 42 people with one instance, while SS had more than 100+ and 4 instances of fleet running. And that is just one hub
  3. I am sorry, but this concept isn't for those who have spent soo much time in this game that they have alts across the board, or that have soo many credits the inflated markets don't matter to them, or those concerned about only a couple metrics like "How many people are on X planet".... Its the whole package.... Let me go show it form a different perspective. Returning player after some years, log in and find that they are on SS. They reroll a new character and see that there are only 17 people on Hutta, and a chunk of them are no where to be seen... So already they feel like the world is empty. That is already going make them feel like the game is dead or their server is dying. Okay, maybe they are a savy gamer and they check other server, go onto SF, and check, see that there are 65 players running around the streets, recruiting, and that chat is actually rolling down. So what do they do? Well if they don't have much, they reroll and start on SF... But what if they have alot? So they go and check to see what and how much they can transfer over to the other server... Legacy? Well, only one character, and its probably going to cost 1000 cartel coins per. Guild? Well that can't be moved so all the flagships and decorations you spent years building up? Gone. So, at this point, many players would just straight up give up... But lets say they arn't savy in MMOs? They quit because they think the game is dead? And this is just one aspect, I can sit here an list of plenty of examples why for most returning and new players having the current set up is just horrid. And as far as you saying there are just as many players on SF as SS, I have sat on a 24 hour cycle, and from starting planets to end game planets, there are just ALOT more people on SF than SS... Of course, niche planets, or mid range 50-70 planets all have lower numbers so it doesn't seem like much, but that is only on the most niche of places... every other planet is gonna have more on SF than SS, that is just fact.
  4. When I came back and logged into a couple of my characters that I had not played since before that update, both of them could repick their original and pick up a second.... If there was a bug that prevented this or caused issues, that also isn't an excuse... just because something broke once, doesn't mean it will break everytime and its been years since then. The excuse of "it broke once" is not valid, when its years later and they had plenty of time to come up with a fix, an alternative, or just flat out state the rerolling of Combat styles will never happen... none of these have happened as far as I am aware.... Its the same with current state of NA servers.... Why are there 2? Why is only one set as a default server? Why is one left to flop around with a better economy, while the new player one is rife with insane inflation and a broken economy? Its like there are obvious WINS they could start wracking up and breath a bit of life into the game, but it seems clear the intent to just let this game die. Shame.
  5. And I am fine if they want to make it pricey so they don't miss out on all the boosts/unlocks of people trying to reroll characters, just give us the option... Most things don't seem to matter as far as story/lore progression of a character, so why not just sell us a reroll for second combat style/entire combat choice, or both? People would buy them, it would make people happy, and just make it alot easier to make what you want, which will make people WANT to play.
  6. Seriously how are people not coming in waves to replay for this? Just sell us a token to change it, or reroll the main combat choice.... Most of us have already spent hundreds into this game, let us spend a bit more just to have our character the way we want. Put it up for a bunch and people will still buy it, myself included. Just give it to us.
  7. For as long as I can remember, when a new player joins SWTOR for the first time in NA, the game automatically selects Star Forge as the default server for NA. I am not sure this has ever changed in the last few years, and if it has, I would love to hear about this... Streamers, friends, players I meet that joined in the last few years to SWTOR, and many more are all unaware there even is a second NA server, and most of them have all wound up in Star Forge. If this is the case, then that means only new players are going to Star Forge, so where does that leave Satele Shan? For new players... well, it seems that comparing the 4 starting planets, during a few days of playing, I noticed most starting planets can have double to triple the players, many hub areas, and focal points also have many more players across all play times. Where does that leave Satele Shan? Now, many would just say, "just do a server transfer, your on a bad server, there are no new players coming in, just veterans with a dying server... so transfer or shut up" But with the current state of the game, is that the best option? I feel like if this is the end of the game, then its fine... Let it die, but if its not, then we need to get a bit of life in Satele Shan by changing it to the default NA server, and see how it does with the new players arriving in it. Prices of the economy seems cheaper on Satele Shan, many guilds and groups seem to be dying of thirst when it comes to playing with, teaching, and seeing more new player on the server, even if its the few Star Forge sees as the current default.... I think it might do the server some good so it doesn't feel like we are just letting a portion of the players semi die on a server with no new blood pumping in. Or, the better option.... Do one final server merge... Either give us a few months warning to allow people to reclaim character/guild names.... and allow all the life to be in a single community again... or... do better.... Just make the move to make your account, or a SWTOR identifier as your identity in game, legacy, guilds, friends list, are all tracked via that identifier, and make character names non-unique... This would allow a server merge to be done with none of the fuss of character names, and maybe allow one free character name after this move is done (but I get if you feel the need to charge us), and this change would also be a QoL that people could have used years ago... What ever you do, just do it.... Let us know what this current move to Broadsword really means for the furture of SWTOR.... And show us if you care about us, the servers, or the game much at all.
  8. THank you for all the responses, though I must admit some of the last few posts seem more like mindless arguments on both ends. Please refrain from mindless cursing and negative feedback, this topic is so that people may agree with this topic and for BioWare to see how much of a hot topic this is and to show them that this is something that may need re-looked at. Both sides make valid points and this is just another reason that making it optional benefits both sides. Both sides will not be able to change the others opinions until a valid reason is presented, and I doubt one will ever be listed. Making it optional make more people happy, I highly doubt many of these player whether they want it or not will affect the other in any way. Again I thank everyone for their response and keep posting if you agree and if you disagree please you can post why you don't think it should be optional besides from the "stop complaining, you can still do stuff, etc" I am looking for game breaking reasons why it should not be optional.
  9. Well when it comes to the fair game of PVP with Level Sync, there still carries the same, and even new issues. Without Level Sync many high level players would not fight low levels because it was unfair, then there are those who will attack people regardless, and then the gankers. With level sync high level players cant avoid fights now since 2 decently leveleed players can now gank them even though thier characters have a decent level gain on them which is not really a bad thing but it also makes high level players waste time if they just need to visit one NPC before leaving the low level planet. As far as people who always pvp, making it optional allows for those people to fight fairly because it is a pvp server and many of those who attack everything enjoy the random battles, and if they are de-synced then it would be unfair yes, but that person could be in a group so being synced wouldnt help the fairness either. As far as gankers, again gankers will be gankers so now they will just run zerg groups to be unfair..... All of these situations can be as random as anything so if you really way it out as far as PVP goes you will still run into the same situations whether it is level synced, optional, or not used. The point is, that everyone who plays on PVP servers deals with all of these things, and anyone who has played an MMO for any period of time can tell you, you accept these risks the moment you play an open PVP server. As far as a fe other post I have seen, I ask many people to refrain from rude comments, blind arguments based on opinion and not fact, this post is for people who do not agree with this to rally together so thier voice can be heard, and for people who disaagree to voice thier ideas and views why it should be kept the same, so please again refrain from making comments like "**** you your stupid and I think the idea is stupid. **** of BW and give me my money". This is to better the game to a wide variety of players, and whereas this is an open forum there are may other posts that you can leave comments like that, I ask that you just refrain from doing it in this feedback topic. I also dont mind if people leave comments saying they disagree and give reasoning, just make sure that the reasoning match the topic of OPTIONAL and not just why you like the change of feature (IE Allows old planet content to be replayed, gain P and credits scaled to your level, ETC) because again making it optional would still allow all of that. Seeing how many people post that they agree and disagree will also allow us and BW to see easier who cares abotu changing it, what they want it changed to, so that more people are caught in the net of being happy with any changes. Also I would like to address people who have said repeatedly that "People have posted reasons you have just chose to ignore them." I have argued and reviewed every reason behind level sync in this forum, and I have still yet to get a solid reasoning behind making it NOT OPTIONAL, and keeping it the same as it is. Many reasoning show why it is a good thing in general but do not argue why it should not also be optional aside from reasons I have already shown that making it optional would not change the experience. If I have missed something feel free to qoute it so I may see instead of just saying I missed it, there are alot of comments and I am only human. Saying people have without giving specifics is even less helpful to the feedback flow than some people just saying "Its stupid" or listing things as fact. Thank you for every ones input and hopefully more people contribute, so please keep replying if this topic affects you in anyway.
  10. If you feel that it would help if Level Sync was optional visit here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=843192 Read through what I have said about making it Optional, and not removing the Level Sync entirely, if you agree just leave a post saying you do, thank you.
  11. There in lies one the problems, for solo players the only reason this system works in many instances is now companions are in most cases stronger than they were before, my healer now has way more health, and my damage companion has more health and can do insane amounts of damage. This is the reasoning many people give for being able to do things so quickly and well, there are some players who do not like using their companions aswell as many people being upset that the companions are now too strong and people feel it takes away from their characters, and many players making new characters are finding content their level way too easy with the new companions. Many of these new players and even many in the forums are saying they can now solo heroics a few levels above with no problems. Right next to level sync this is the next most complained about change, and many, with both of these issues combined there are many who feel their character has lost a lot of the power and feel they had. As far as the benifits making it optional would still allow those who dislike it to play the game their way, both parties happy. Just as you said to him, if this isn't something that you do, so making optional level sync should not cause you any issues. Also as far as the minority goes, there are plenty of people who care about this issue either way, and many who dont care probably wouldn't mind it being optional either. So if you think about it, those who use this feature, those who do not care, and those who dont like it would all get what they want, so I am not understanding why so many people are having and issue with it being optional. Most arguments against it almost feel like people are saying to get rid of it entirely, which is something I do not think anyone really wants, just making it optional makes it so you can catch the most of the player groups. There will still be those few that complain about griefing and PVP ganking and since the dawn of pvp and mmos there have been both in almost every game. I thank you all for your opinions and feedback and I would still like to hear a legitimate reason why this should not be optional. Maybe if its a good one more people would accept it, but so far I have not found any so please keep agreeing with the optional Level Sync, or if you have a reason why it should not be changed.
  12. Even when I ask people in Fleet, many people who want this feature gone are ok with it being optional and vice versa, it seems all too easy to make it an optional choice, maybe a Socal Preference option or maybe something you can purchase to turn it on or off. Maybe make an Item called a limiter that limits the capabilities of those who use it so there is even the added lore behind it.
  13. First I would like to address the comments from people that this is a feature that does not affect many players, BioWAre loves to use Metrics for things for many changes so I shall do the same. In just a few days this Topic has moved to page 49 of 2139 in total views, and 9... Again page 9 of 2139 for total replies in the Suggestion Box posts. That is pretty high considering some of the posts above and below it were active for weeks/moths at a time more than this one at only a few days.... Clearly this is something that should be addressed for how quickly many people have come together to discuss it and also agree with it. So please everyone who keeps saying "Who cares?" please refrain from leaving them because clearly people do. Ok I see many people who like level sync, and many who do not. My main thing is does making it OPTIONAL really effect either? I mean the biggest thing for making it either way has been griefing and pvp. That will happen anyways so that is a mute point. There was a reported bug/exploit from a few servers and many players of Oppsoing factions getting to enemy starting planets and attacking them in droves, attacking at med centers and making PVP flags unable to change. This is clear proof that if people want to attack or grief people who are defenseless they WILL do it. For everything else making it OPTIONAL, not getting rid of it, but optional should not change either sides preference. (For Enemy attacks post: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=844873) For those who want the challenge, the XP, the everything that comes with this feature will STILL get it, and still be able to take advantage of the perks. For those who enjoyed playing it how it has been for the last few years, then they also STILL get what they want. I still have not heard of any reason besides PVP and Griefers that it should not be optional. Which again is a mute argument because you will still have issues with both systems. For all of you who keep speaking volumes about how great it is, if it being optional would not affect you then you should also agree to this change. This way more players get what they want, the full customization SWTOR has always held to, and avoid the risk of losing players due to this preference. SWTOR and BioWare have repeatedly added and changed features so that all players, casual to hardcore from PVP to PVE and even RP, all enjoy being able to play how they would like. So I please ask that if you enjoy the system and its features, and would not mind if it was optional so that it cast a wider net to a wider audience of players please agree to this. As I have said I do not want to see this feature gone, just optional. So part of this topic is also to make sure BioWare does not reverse it entirely. So please again agree if you would like to see this OPTIONAL. Also please can people just stop posting over and over again that "Its not that Hard". Many people who want it optional do not feel it is an impossible challenge to the game, many just liked the features of the leveling system and being able to use that to their advantage, just as those who support the Level Sync features and plan to use them to your advantage. Its all preferences and as long as our two do not interfere with the others, then I see no valid reason to make it OPTIONAL. Thank you.
  14. Yes making it optional allows for players to play with lower level friends, level and gain experience for lower level content, but for people who need to complete tasks, or want to help their friends get to their level quickly, and thats just to name a few. I hope more people understand that this does not have to be mandatory for everyone to be happy. Those who argue that it makes World PVP and avoiding griefers much easier has not seen those griefers just getting in big groups to do the same, so that issue will continue to exist. If getting ganked and killed during questing is a problem in the first place, why play PVP server if your complaining about getting killed, and if your complaining about a fair fight, again they will still run in groups. Also the opposite is true, now a high level player now needs to worry about EVERYONE leveled to the planet they are on, so now A Dark Council member can get slaughtered by a small group apprentices, which honestly kinda destroys the story, lore and immersion into the universe and character. As for other griefers, they will always exist like trolls will always exist. So either way level sync or not that wont help that problem. Those who argue that they enjoy the new feature because of them being able to play lower level content and reap the rewards, or they enjoy the challenge can still use this if they just make it optional. So that way those who want to use it can, and everyone who doesnt want or doesnt need to use it they can deselect the option. Everyone wins. If there are any other solid reasons to why this should stay I would love to hear them, especially the ones that require this to not be optional at all. Thank you.
  15. This is what I agree with, and for how many more topics there are on this subject it is clear this is something that is split, it makes most sense to make it optional, so those who want it and can take advantage of the feature can do so, and those who wold like the freedom to over level content, and feel powerful as their character had become it is there for them to turn off. If you agree this should be optional, or feel that it being optional wouldn't bother you than post here saying so: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=843192
