  1. So many great players were unable to make operative healer work against the PvP gods this year (sorcs duh). How TF is it that only ONE operative healer in the game was able to beat sorcs? It must be possible to succeed with op healer, just extremely difficult. EDIT: Are people back in the game? Is it worth reinstalling the game for PvP atm?

    Nah sub time has nothing to do with it lol. PvP's just theorycrafting, execution, and instinct. I've seen regstars play 8v8's since I started playing and they're still bad.
  5. I feel as though merc healers are easier than operative healers in ranked. Like you said, burst is king atm. A fully-geared operative freecasting injection on top of hots sometimes isn't enough to keep a new player up in ranked. Mercenary healers can not only survive themselves, against all comps, but can prevent a global alone. Not even factoring in their knockback on teammate's stunlocks. We all know that someone in soloQ will break a flashbang, so we can't really peel as well.
  6. I'm missing your point. Regs isn't competitive. Arena is simply the only format where there is a reasonable skill cap, + you can carry 3 bads either if yoy're playing a sorc or a good player! Arena has play-making at the most nuanced level. A perfect mezz on a healer who broke out of arrogance is one of the most beautiful plays that I've experienced. If you're that merc of the same name, I remember you dying within the first minute of a healer ranked match while I was on operative. It was 4 v 4 heals match against a top-3 veteran marauder and a jugg from an elite guild, so it's not completely your fault you died early. Even with a great healer in the game on our side, I still had to offheal a TON on the madness sin (who was tunneling the marauder for some reason). The only reason we won was due our amazing healer + dps offheals and two perfect plays towards the ends of the rounds. Do you honestly believe that you'd be more useful when there are 4 - 5+ ranked dps swapping in 8v8's? Many, many classes will be rendered useless with such coordination that's common in ranked. 8v8's were never meant to be competitive. I've seen plenty of these "off-server" legends coming to Harb who claim that arenas are not where they shine. Considering their premade track record vs a single average operative (myself) with a PuG in objectives, I'd say that they are severely underestimating the skill cap in this game.
  7. Bad ping jump?? From East Coast to Harb?????? Try an EU server with a dodge class. "Damn that was a nicely timed roll, now I've gotta kite abit. Wait what did I just teleport back into a stunlock???? GGWP SOZ MY TEAM. GAME IS GUD" My 120 ms on Harb is s*x. My 30 ms on East Coast is just unfair. You'll be fine with your ping "jump."
  8. No single dps can solo a competent healer. Operative healers would die to two perfectly synced burst dps specs, a merc can facetank/kite 3 dps indefinitely but struggles with healing others, sorc healers can handle a whole wz team of average dps. facetank, facetank, phasewalk H2F. Force speed, bubble stun, knock off bridge + root. Hey! Phasewalk is back off cd. Repeat forever. SWTOR 2016 </3 THEY DO NOT NEED PHASEWALK WHEN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEIR UTILITIES ARE GOOD FOR PVP.

Basically the greatest fun I and several of my friends have had in the game was solo Q ranked, and it would be sad to see such a beloved and intense game style get taken away due to ignorance and arrogance. Although they've all moved on to greener pastures (WoW, LoL) and I haven't touched the game in two weeks since ranked died again, I still carry fond memories of 2 v 2's with/against friends at the ends of matches. If you weren't successful in ranked arenas and then quickly gave up on improving your gameplay, I doubt you'll find it fun playing against 4k+ dps PT tanks guarding 8k hps sorc healers. Haven't even mentioned the dps, which is the role that the most amazing players I've seen play.
  10. Ranked 8 v 8's would be aids. If it does indeed bring good players back into the game, the "regstars" will soon realize that they weren't liabilities in 4v4 because of the format, it was because they're bad a pvp in general. I've never seen anyone even half decent in warzones whom I haven't heard of. Everyone I haven't heard of who still plays exclusively regs is going to get crushed even in 8v8's against the top ranked players of S7. From what I've heard, this season had the lowest skill level in game's history. Yet I've seen nobody who exclusively plays 8v8's can even compete against the players we've had. Ranked players left because 8v8 competition and gameplay is too boring and unchallenging for them. Don't take this the wrong way, it's not like the great players will get anything besides great fun anyways. If you're already having fun in PvP then why do you need to compete with potentially smarter, quicker, toxic people? A solution would E-trophies for regs 8v8 stats (titles for damage-farming, hps, etc.). This horse has been beaten to death many many many times. The result from the debates is that the true ranked competition is simply too good for the 8v8 maps.
  11. Why do they still have it in 5.0?????? While sins, a melee class with NO spammable self heals or a 5-second mezz that fills no resolve on the shortest stun cooldown in the game loses it's only defense against a stunlock. Sorc/Sage is not hard in PvE... I can't even play the class and I'm never below 70%. Rip PvP funs
  12. Mercenary is currently OP in warzones: extremely easy and hardest burst in the game (arsenal)... You'll like what's coming for them in 5.0. From what I've heard: Kolto Overload to 70% and the heals tick faster, SIX second reflect that can be used while stunned, and at least 3 - 4 buffs on top of everything they have now. Keep in mind that people have made 2k+ rating on merc before these buffs when many smart amazing sorc players cannot break 1.8k. I think that merc was just extremely hard in ranked with this meta, most certainly the hardest class in the game for 4-dps and healer matches. Mercenary felt extremely strong in tank matches and tank-healer matches though. Also in warzones the average merc does over 4 Million total damage. Personally I believe the only counter for this new merc fotm coming up is learning the class myself when I have time to play hardcore again and hopefully find fun in it. That or become an irrelevant of any future teammates. Enjoy your future FOTM. Also you can move your camera with the RIGHT mouse button to fly any direction lol... that's exactly the same as how the roll mechanics work for agents: camera direction. I don't understand the complaint.

  14. Hello fellow operative player! In my experience, when both are played at the highest level, arsenal's hard for operatives in the sense that one mistake is all it takes for an operative to lose. I've not seen any top-tier operative DUELIST (as opposed to regs/solo ranked star) lose in a 1v1 against a merc and I do not think arsenal has the potential to defeat an operative although I've heard that becoming a very good merc duelist is MUCH easier than becoming a good operative duelist. As a general guide for warzones, simply interrupt everything and force their breaker as soon as possible so your team can kill them later on. Simple stuff you might've known already. I've also seen concealment ops los and kite mercs in duels. That's probably the best strategy if you know both arsenal and concealment very well. Their hard stun and electro net are the only threatening abilities they have in duels and if both are on CD then they're free wins in duels. I have an early video of a friend (very good EU operative) dueling a merc who can hold his own on Harbringer ranked. So he played in a way that beats a merc who's better than any we'll probably meet in warzones. Really fun to see an melee operative kite a merc honestly lol However (except maybe extremely well-played 4 madness sorcs) nothing counters 2+ mercs on one team in ranked arenas. Two 30k+ heatseekers + double nets on top of double hardstuns simply means you lose as an operative and need to reroll to a real solo ranked class like sorcerer. But then again who says solo ranked isn't RNG for all except the few great players? Last note to beating arsenal mercs is to simply play a lot of solo ranked (pops every night on Harbringer) and find the nuances of operative dcds. It's a "dodge" class so experience helps a lot and we're always one mistake or misclick away from a swift death. Good luck!

  16. Ah stim boost has a 2.5-minute cooldown. It's as useful/useless as the 6-second cc immunity that marauders have. You know how to counter your 20% alacrity (besides facetanking it because alacrity ops hit like wet noodles)? predation as a mara, HO or rocket out as a merc, saber reflect as a jugg, shroud and stunlock as a sin (or phantomstride away), and roll + root as a sniper. Or if you're a sorc just roll your face on the keyboard (teleport and heal to full, force speed behind a pillar, stun the op, overload root, bubble stun, run in a straight line with the dark heal mobility boost, or just facetank it because concealment has terrible burst compared to other burst specs and you'll get all your health back from one dark heal crit. I wish I wasn't serious) if you double-roll to catch up, you'll get instantly globalled by a team with minimal awareness. An op that uses his mobility abilities is literally the most squishy class in game.
  17. Yes I did compare the two. Playing merc in ranked PvP is very fun and can be very effective for those who know how PvP works. Compare the number of 1600+ mercs on NA to 1600+ operatives on NA (5 legitimate players who didn't farm a weak server or hack. I've no knowledge of EU players but I doubt most would get their ratings without the cross-faction matches that can be easily manipulated). It's also possible to global the most OP class in PvP right now on a merc since most sorcs come from regs and love to break before phasewalk. Or those self-proclaimed objectives players who barrier break to STOP CAP. lulxxxx Do some ranked (if there is gonna be another season before players leave permanently) and then reflect on how that 1600+ merc just globalled you and never seem to take any damage. I've seen it happen to myself too many times.
  18. PvP failed because of trolls and lack of communication/participation with the ranked playerbase. There's no such thing as a ranked star getting rekt in warzones because this game's objectives system is not hard. If it's three nodes, kill your opponents quickly and cap. If it's voidstar when both teams are good, then have fun with the 10+ minute parsing war. Huttball?? Pray that you have the better healer cause there's no other way to carry. Odesson? Just kill everyone at the active nodes and barrier for lolpoints. Might make a montage of myself getting globalled in ranked on TRE and followup within that same video of myself carrying against premades in objectives because I'm the only half-decent player who plays them. If you can't figure out the PvP meta in its purest and most amazing incarnation (arenas) then you'll fail miserably when the people who've mastered it come to objective wzs. IT'S NOT HARD TO AOE -> BARRIER -> AOE -> PHASEWALK -> AOE -> TEAMMATES COME FOR STALEMATE ROUND 24. Objectives are not hard for people who've learned how to play the 42 playstyles in the game at the highest degree. Sorry I've gotta tab back to the game now cause there are 5 inc at grass. Time to alternate saps until they're all whitebarred then frag grenade and roll off cd then restealth then sap all of them again then frag grenade and roll. It's all possible because you self-proclaimed objective players can't do a simple swtor pvp rotation. If this or the other 8 v 8 thread doesn't die soon then I might make that video and post it on both of them before my sub runs out. Operative a "quick" melee class????? 0.0 One burst rotation from any burst spec is enough to "interrupt" an operative's damage. it's sickening how easily they are shut down in ranked with all the mercs and maras hard stunning and pumping out 20k heatseekers and 17k furious strikes. Not to mention 40k stacked burst from PTs if breaker is on cd. Honestly I don't know why it's not the meta to just hard stun an operative off cd and have the whole team follow up with burst to force breaker/restealth. Once the operative pops back just stun and burst again.... Mercs have chaff flare for cc burst and loldodge and maras have combat stealth + invincibility for those tactics. Operatives have.... shield probe? mmmk keep QQ'ing about a "quick" melee class like operative. Literally the most underpowered AC in the game. SMH it's not even fun to play in regs with all the stacked merc teams and heatseekers after electro nets.

From what I've heard, although not quite as good as the best players from this game's prime (early seasons), but cccp and is literally one of the best/smartest players I've ever seen. I facetank 4 - 5 of you regstars with my pve geared sorc healer. I can imagine an actually decent sorc healer facetanking your whole team. That and 8-operative premades. Have fun capping a node when they keep popping out of stealth and frag-grenading every would-be capper. When I finally started playing objective warzones I literally carry every match because people who queue warzones are usually bad. Also it's not hard to stop-cap as ONE decent concealment operative. I've carried so hard in civil war/novare coast that the 4 top dps on my all-dps team do less damage than the SECOND top dps of the enemy team. It didn't even take skill. I just frag grenade then roll/los then frag grenade again. On sorc I death field then force speed then aoe again then PW when half the cappers run to me then death field again. Then aoe knockback. Then death field again. Then barrier for almost 8 seconds then aoe again. Hey phasewalk is back off cd! Repeat from the beginning until the game is won. Players in regs are nothing compared to those who log for duels/ranked every week, and it's very dumb of you to think that you are better/quicker then they are when there's nothing to suggest that. You know you're not good at 8v8's when you get farmed by the likes of me lol Frag grenade aoe pls nerf xP (Don't get me started on huttball. It takes true skill to get pulled by two sorcs then use your mobility ability to score. True skill)
  22. It takes THREE dps to global an average player WITH a good healer. There could be potentially 6+ GOOD players all stacking their burst on you in ranked 8 v 8's. Unranked warzones feel more accessible to average players because most good players do not queue for it. Here's an example of the skill difference: I queue a lot of warzones on my operative and I play objectives. My win/loss ratio is around 4:1. My ranked arena won/loss is 3:2. Objectives == PvP skill?????? The point is that objectives in this game is not hard when everyone is absolutely horrible. I've literally pulled off 3 v 1's (all full health) on my marauder when learning a new discipline. Imagine those 2 - 3 ranked players who focus you every arena. Now imagine that there are 6 - 7 of them, Now imagine if they stack classes (AP PTs or Carnage marauders for example). Imagine if they all focus fired on you WITH all of their auto-crits. Or do you think you'll be off guarding a node while two reaver-level duelists creep up to you in stealth? I've seen my health go from 70k - 0 in two gcds from two good dps. I don't want to get globalled off the game with 5 - 6 burst specs stacking on me at the same time. Only reason why it doesn't happen in regs is because they're all bad/casual players who play it.
