  1. A return to actual game play, free movement and exploration. With killing X mobs between cutscenes, instanced corridor worlds, no side quests etc. we're on our way to an interactive graphic novel, for which the price per month is simply too high. We're watching the game, rather than playing it.

And to me, the current story fits almost none of my characters created and developed in the 1-50 experience. A return to RP-friendly, immersive story-telling with a perspective that focuses on our character instead of us would be nice, too (re: cutscenes showing us things our character cannot know).

    ^^^^This

  2. Expansions: A return to expansions that are more like Makeb or SoR than the KotFE/KotET chapters.

No more skytroopers: I don't want to have to keep killing wave-after-wave-after-wave of skytroopers as filler between cut scenes. The first time playing through the new chapters was really enjoyable. It just doesn't hold up when playing again on an alt. Making the chapters repeatable holds no interest for me, as I already do them too often when leveling alts.

Explorable Maps: I don't want linear stories on maps that loop back over themselves repeatedly. I want to have a sense that I'm in control of when and where I go, and which companions I do it with. The new chapters have taken away that sense of awe at the exploration of a planet.

Stop Gating Content: I don't want new events or features that gate their rewards behind unrelated content. I especially am tired of content that is gated behind a different playstyle than the content itself.

Options for Dailies: I enjoy daily areas like Black Hole and Belsavis. Adding new repeatable content (not the chapters) that allows for diversity in how we choose to spend our daily grind time would be nice.

^^^^This plus getting actual companion content would get me to re-sub.

  3. Hey folks,

As we have discussed previously, Warzone Commendations and Commendation Crystals are being removed from the game with Knights of the Eternal Throne. Our intention is that all of these currencies will be converted into credits on 11/29 when early access starts. Here are the conversion rates for each currency:

    1 Warzone Commendation = 50 Credits

    1 Common Crystal = 500 credits

    1 Glowing Crystal = 1,000 credits

    1 Radiant Crystal = 1,500 credits

Upon logging in on 11/29 each of these currencies will be completely removed from the game and the appropriate credits will have been granted to each character on your account. Note that there is a 2 million credit per character limit on this conversion. Please check the conversion table above, if you would earn more than 2 million credits on a character, we recommend that you spend the appropriate currency before that time so that it is not lost. If you have any questions about this conversion, let us know.

    Thanks everyone.

I'm so glad I unsubbed. This conversion is piss-poor and all to the changes surrounding 5.0 are downright ******.

  4. I don't see how this is catering to casual players. They're going to go through the same RNG hell that everyone else does.

The more I read about all this, the more I think that the RNG idea needs to be scrapped, if not seriously reworked, though it's probably too late for them to do it now, in time for KOTET release. For cosmetics and such, that's fine. Make people go through RNG. Yeah, it's annoying, but at least it doesn't affect gameplay stats.

For normal gearing, bundling it all into RNG might be appealing on the "players won't be confused" level, but on virtually every other level, it's a bad idea.

Off the cuff, I would say:

Give people two different command crates. One crate lets you choose the item type and you can choose whether you want tank or dps gear, or heal or dps gear, depending on your class. The other crate is RNG and includes whatever stuff is already being put in the crates (I think there was a much of other stuff on livestream, or I imagined it), along with a piece of end-game gear that is random.

It's a bit of a compromise that way. You get your consistent piece that you can choose and you get a random piece, so there's still that wow factor from surprise RNG.

It's not perfect, but I think it'd be a far cry better than what the system is looking like right now.

^^^^^^^This. I am COMPLETELY happy to RNG for cosmetic gear. It's a little annoying maybe, but more suspenseful than discouraging. Rolling for cosmetic items in Alliance crates is actually fun! Using an RNG to maybe eventually get the endgame headpiece I need rather than the hundredth tank-specced earpiece for my dps toon though feels far more futile and not even worth attempting. The reason why I like the commendation and construction piece system is I can optimize it and know I'm getting the correct item, not taking a crapshoot.

  5. You will still get gear from all of the normal sources pre-70. Flashpoint bosses, Mission drops, etc. The only exception is that you can no longer get gear for Commendations. The planetary vendors which sold mods for Commendations will now do so for credits instead.

But Eric, the gear from mission drops is already completely useless. It is underpowered even if you are at level for the content. Will missions drop level-scaled gear or have a new alternative drop of actual value?
