  1. After 7.0 I, like many others, was very disappointed in the changes made to the game and even thinking it might be time for me to stop playing SWTOR. However, now with the Galactic (and PVP) Seasons and other recent improvements I find myself enjoying the game once more. I still wish the game got story updates more frequently.... But free stuff is always good and the weekly objectives have made me play certain parts of the game I haven't felt like playing in a long time like Starfighter and the new Manaan daily area. Same goes for PVP Seasons.

Yeah some of the writing has been lackluster recently, but imo  the new 'Ruhnuk'  story & script was  SUPERB.

Hopefully  we get more of that type of quality in 2023.  ( But yes, it would be nice to get more quantity  of it too.  And more often, like ESO does. )

The cinematics were impressive but that's about it. Mandalorians being able to trap the Force User Player Character was absurd. As if no one had ever thought about that before - and I bet we will never hear about it again either. Other than that it was just us dragging along fighting endless mobs while having absolutely zero impact on anything that happened. It's not our story - it's about Viszla and the Mandalorians inner fighting. Boring, especially if your character is not a Mandalorian themselves.

I wanted at least an update about how the Alliance is doing or how the war is going but there was nothing.

Adding new "combat style" could be great since nowadays combat styles are not tied with origin stories.

Scrapping the old story? That's not possible. Not to mention that the Malgus/Mando plot is fine.

The only complaint I have is the lack of class-specific dialogue. It really reduces the replay value of the story, a thing I hate since KOTxx. Even though it's not something new, but I found the lack of class-specific dialogue in the 7.2 update disturbing (ha) despite the story itself being good.

KOTFE/KOTET had lots of class specific dialogue and unique content but other than that I agree with what you're saying. Why can't they even do what Shadow of Revan did... which is still make the story feel unique for different classes even though it was mostly the same experience for everyone.

Right because the game struggling to release story content can just scrap all current projects and somehow be able to do two completely new origin stories. Did you even read what you posted man? Because it makes no sense, you think making a new origin and combat style story is as easy as flipping a light switch.

I would be willing to wait 1-3 years for this to happen.

  5. We get about 2 story updates per year. It has been ages since this boring ass Mandalorian story arc started and same with the Malgus thing and both storylines haven't gone anywhere. In the meanwhile there's still supposed to be a war between the Republic and the Empire as well as our Alliance and the whole saboteur story arc as well... but nothing has been done with those story arcs either.

And when we do get new story our role has been reduced to a mere bystander, there to listen to Shae Visla and Darth Malgus go on about something that has nothing to do with us. I miss the times of KOTFE/KOTET/Traitor when it still felt like our story.

My suggestion is to scrap these storylines entirely and just make two new class stories instead: Imperial Trooper and Republic SIS Agent and make a new melee class for them so our non-Force characters can finally use melee weapons.

Vanilla stories were so much better than Kotet or Kotfe - I don't understand how anyone would refer to the later in a positive way.

Not just the story but the way its delivered in an open world setting.

    Enjoy your break.

People like different things... surely this is not news to you? Obviously class stories were superior since that's 8 unique stories with unique characters and companions, but I for one loved KOTFE/KOTET... it might be the best Star Wars story I have played through (with my Sith Warrior I love how well those expansions work as a sequel to that class story). Obviously some things could've been done better. Probably should've just been a true single player RPG separate from SWTOR.

  7. As someone who has also played for story since launch, I would like some answers too. If I'm going to keep paying, I want to know what I'm buying. If no answers are forthcoming soon, I'm done.

Specifically, I would like to know:

    • Do they intend to roll out more story over the coming months? If so, how often?
    • How much playtime can we expect from future story updates? If it's significantly less than 7.0 (which I assume it will be), I'm concerned it'll take years for this plot to progress.
    • Can we expect a follow-through on choices made in short story updates, like choosing to send Arcann on a mission in "Whispers of the Force" - or is it mere name-dropping? It seems that was just completely forgotten about in this update. I really hope that isn't how Bioware tells a story now.

So glad to see someone else saying this! KOTFE/KOTET were amazing and I wish there was some way to return to that era of SWTOR. The only issues with the storytelling back then at all was that they apparently rushed things because people complained. Look where those complaints brought us...

I also loved KOTFE/KOTET. Playing both of them for the first time with my Sith Warrior was one of my best gaming experiences. Ever since then though I have enjoyed the game less and less... the quality of writing in this game is at all time low. This latest update reminds me of MEA and Anthem. It's that bad.

  8. I gotta say, I felt this the most on my Sith, and especially on my Warrior. I really did not like Major Anri's attitude and lack of respect towards Sith without being able to react properly. You can tell her off, but she just gives you lip for it and continues then to act as if you are her buddy grunt, sending you bff mails.

That's how I feel about her too. Maybe that's the problem with trying to make all class stories go through the same content when clearly one size doesn't fit all in this game. You cannot treat a Sith Lord the same way you would an Imperial Agent or a Mercenary. Maybe the writers of this game should replay imperial storylines to improve their writing.

I also agree 100% with OP. This disrespect for our player character has been becoming worse and worse since Onslaught. It doesn't really make sense for the Alliance Commander/Eternal Emperor to be running errands again. And the disrespect for you and your accomplishments does really bother me. I really loved the vanilla stories and KOTFE/KOTET but these recent story updates have been nothing but one disappointment after another to the point where my motivation to continue to play this game is at an all time low.

  9. I'm disappointed by the armor set bonuses going away. I didn't use real money to buy the armor sets and don't want refund for the in-game credits I used to buy them. I'm just disappointed because I really liked them and now apparently would have to play lots and lots of play group content if I want buy back the effects that will be lost with 7.0. I feel like 7.0 isn't going to make the game better and is changing things just for the sake of changing them.
  10. Now, personally I have a longer sub myself, but for those people who only subbed recently because they wanted access to this new expansion I believe it is fair and right that they either get their refund or other compensation. There is a precedent of Bioware doing this kind of thing before in fact: giving the people who subbed for December 14 an free month of subscription for February.

Since they have done so in the past there's no reason why they should not be expected to do so now: especially given how they announced this delay with only week to go to the original release date.
