  1. Ok, honest question here:

For people who don't do advanced HM/NiM raiding, HM FPs, or PvP .... what do you do once you reach max level?

I understand that some people like the story, but I can't see running in more than once or twice. Too repetitive, no challenge, etc. There's been the DVL in case you want to levels toons ad nauseam, but I wouldn't consider that end-game content.

So, to the folks who don't do advanced HM or NiM raids, don't run HM FPs, and don't PVP ... what do you do in the game once you reach max level?

Make money, level alts, strongholds, datacrons, achievements, starfortesses, rep grind, influence grind, specialist grind, and there is probably more to do at endgame. Granted, I did start doing pvp as something different after I maxed a lot of the reps and leveled alts. Not everyone is going to share your interests.

  2. I started playing a week before SoR launched. I'm a story RPG player. This was my first mmo actually, and while I dabbled in group stuff, and ended up loving pvp, I'm primarily a solo player. I have leveled each class multiple times, some as many as 5-7. I love the vanilla stories. I also enjoyed the expansions, even the little ones like illum and oricon. Well, the pirate rishi theme kind of threw me off, but that's fine. The expansions got old fast though; just not near the depth and variation of vanilla, which is to be expected.

That being said, I had high hopes for kotfe. I was that guy arguing with the pessimists about just how awesome kotfe was going to be. Choices were going to matter, we could kill companions we didn't like, they are going to focus on story this expansion, and the trailers really indicated this was going to be awesome. I almost cried when arcann killed his brother. In the end, my conclusion is that they told a far better story in the trailers than in all of kotfe. I wanted to like it, but I just couldn't. I feel like they could have done so much better with most of their resources going to story.

I hope kotet is better. I'll play it too, but for now I'm at a point where I have exhausted all the content that I'm interested in, so it's so long for now... Or will be once I slog through the last few fps and the ec for dvl event. Pretty sure I can I the two weeks I have left.

Also, don't kid yourselves. I know you care about my opinion.:D

  3. I know it isn't. The expansion, the future (especially group/MMO content), etc has been a prominent topic on the forums this week . A general thread about communication seemed like a good place to explain the reasoning around that silence.

I didn't mean to be a rule breaker and hi-jack your thread!

Its good to see this. I hope we see more of you chatting around on the forums, Eric.

  4. Been saying this since ch. 13 all of the choices will have impacts on you mid way through KotET, which Mr. Musco alluded to in that post, and im sure using Valkorian's power will build up to a boiling point where Lana leaves you, because remember using it killed many people on Asylum in that lightning storm.

We will see, I hope so. Also, there is consequence to using his power too much

there comes a point where you can not refuse it anymore. If you choose to refuse, he buts in anyway and you see plain white text saying you can not refuse or some such.

  5. There is no inflation? The game caused inflation. Changes to heroics, crew skills, and removal of credit sinks. Its not a bad thing necessarily. Stuff costs more than a year ago, getting credits is far easier too. And, no, its not bots and credit sellers. Those already effected the market as they were around prior to this current jump in prices. Its not greed either. People don't buy stuff if its over priced to them, subsequently the unsold item is relisted for less unti lo it does sell. People are willing to pay higher prices because credits are so much more abundant.
  6. KotFE suffers from all the flaws the original game suffered from in that you are playing the story Bioware want to tell not the one you want to craft for your character.

You know those Sith purists that hate alien scum? Well they've had to put up with alien scum as companions since day one.

All those player choices that were supposed to matter? Never been a thing, unless you count an in game mail or varying title as a meaningful choice. Again, like this from day one.

As an expansion KotFE was okay, not groundbreaking but okay, the changes to companions and allowing recruitment choices were a step in the right direction. Eternal Championship was a nice touch for the solo player, hope they can expand on this style with role specific challenges not just DPS parsing.

Huge difference between kotfe and vanilla. Vanilla is a good example of the extent of difference you can have in the body of the adventure and the end result in an mmo. In kotfe, we only got one mini side quest at the beginning and few other dialogue/cut scene difference based on our choices. Anyone who thought kotfe would have different endings were mistaken. I did hope for more variation in quests though, they even said as much. I expected more story companions to die or leave than his koth based on choices, since they said as much. I just hope they don't stretch the truth as much with kotet.

  7. Because I enjoy pvp. I post my opinion. It used to be a lot more positive and optimistic. Don't worry, jll be taking another break soon, but until then, I'd recommend ignoring me. I don't have many good things to say about the game unfortunately.

I'd also keep in mind that its a good thing people care enough about the game to complain. You should worry once the complaining has died down, because that either means they made the game something everyone enjoys all aspects of (highly unlikely), or people gave up and moved on. Careful what you wish for.

  8. As is usually the case, you earn money in an MMO from grinding. Be it crafting, repeatables (heroics in TORs case), dungeons, etc...

If you aren't willing to put int he mindless grinding hours you will not have money to spend.

HOWEVER, if you have money and are willing to use it. Just buy hypercrates then sell them on the GTN.

Not if you sell mats. By far the easiest money.

  9. Selling mats on the gtn is profitable and painless. Running heroics seems T be the most popular these days. You can do both at the same time, depending how hard you work, you might hit 50 mil in a week, two weeks is more realistic.

For me, nothing is worth 50 mil. I spend my credits on packs and the occasional hypercrate and collect the stuff I like, sell the rest.

  10. After the first planet, I leveled my first character solely doing pvp and heroics to keep my gear up. You don't even need to do the story anymore. Just pvp or fps, and heroics, all three have terminals. Conveniently on fleet.

Being new, you are doing it right. This game has great immersive stories, including the flashpoints, side quests, and don't overlook the bonus series'. Don't worry with your level.

  11. Yes, as i said in my previous post i know that it's legal. The topic in OP however is more of a ethics one so the example i gave IS relevant.

Fair enough, but then the op is talking about chat, rather than the game. One is rated, the other is not. You joined in on an off topic silly conversation about pedophelia and pixel nudity in the game when you responded to my response to the... Other person.

  12. And you believe purchasing the cartel packs is the adult gambling in which only adults should partake? The nightlife gambling and slot machine are in line with the simulated gambling in the teen definition. Anyways, far worse examples than gambling to make your point, imo.

Edit: Assuming it is cm packs as your point, ill just point out there are all sorts of blind bag type things sold in toy stores to children even under 13, so I disagree.

  13. Let me quote ESRB:

    ADULTS ONLY

Content suitable only for adults ages 18 and up. May include prolonged scenes of intense violence, graphic sexual content and/or gambling with real currency.

and slightly lower the definition of real gambling:

Real Gambling - Player can gamble, including betting or wagering real cash or currency

    Here's the teen rating:

    TEEN

Content is generally suitable for ages 13 and up. May contain violence, suggestive themes, crude humor, minimal blood, simulated gambling and/or infrequent use of strong language.

and the definition of simulated gambling:

Simulated Gambling - Player can gamble without betting or wagering real cash or currency

    https://www.esrb.org/ratings/ratings_guide.aspx

    [edit] - added teen rating

And you believe purchasing the cartel packs is the adult gambling in which only adults should partake? The nightlife gambling and slot machine are in line with the simulated gambling in the teen definition. Anyways, far worse examples than gambling to make your point, imo.

  14. So pixel chests would be rated M? I thought live-action nudity was rated R at best, not 18+.

I have yet to see real racism, just fantasy 'aliens bad' from an Empire that still seems to employ plenty of them. Where is this racism in the game?

What about the other topics- too mature for teens to handle while mass murder/genocide is something that teens can give the respect such a serious topic deserves?

R is 18+. Where are you from where pedophelia is only rated teen, btw?

Edit: You are getting movie and game ratings confused too.

  15. So why not include such content in the game? Pedophilia, rape, real world racism rather than the fantastic version seen, homophobia, etc. are not appropriate subjects for children, but that shouldn't matter if they are supposed to be playing. Why can't my Consular help the children with the broken water pipes on Coruscant by offering them credits for... something? He could even gain Light Side Points by giving them more money.

Hell, why not show actual pixel nudity? Surely Jaesa's chest would be acceptable for a T rating. Let her run around naked since gear no longer matters. Obviously do the same for males in the name of equality- who doesn't want to see a nude Torian? Finish it with a 'Hide All' toggle for player characters and the game can be Star Wars meets ancient Rome.

Its rated T for teen, not M for mature? Holy crap. Racism is in the game.
