  1. Day & Night Cycles are essential to keep the world alive. The fact is that a lot of players play the game to experience the world and not just the competition.
  2. Oh? Are there any official updates about dog fights in SWTOR that I have missed?
  3. You have captured all my thoughts and ideas perfectly. A static, never changing world is severly limiting in terms of immersion and keeping people in the world. Where are the Sand storms on Tatoinee? Where are the snow storms on Hoth? We need to feel like the world itself is a dangerous living, breathing thing, Coruscant and Nar Shadaa excluding. I remember when I first saw the lightning storms in Netherstorm in WoW or the blue mist in Zangarmarsh...I could just stand there and watch with curiosity the world change. Mass Effect 2 and 3 also did this right.
  4. Although I understand what you are saying, I don't think that dog fights would replace the on rail sections. On rail is single player and a lot more story and goal driven than the dog fights which are more about the competition and strategy and score driven. I can see them easily co-existing if the developers seperate the two. Though I agree that Bioware would have do the dog fights properly, at least to the standard of Rogue Squadron, which might take a while.
  5. Swoop racing would be great but Pod Racing was kind of cooler because of the wide variety of different vehicles, the fact you are being pulled by cables with two giant roaring engines and how you can flash players with your vents, cut of their cables, crazy tracks and all sort of other cool stuff. Swoop races are a little more linear and more formal kind of racing though I still think the are cool.
  6. Dear Bioware, I am a huge fan of Star Wars and love playing The Old Republic. As a strong supporter of this game (and all games Bioware) I am very excited about all the future additions that will be made to the game. I am particularly interested about three additions which I believe will drastically improve the game. The first is a Day and Night Cycle. Myself, like thousands of other players, spend many hours playing the game and it can become very irritating when the world doesn’t reflect any change in time or weather, as it pulls attention to the fact this is a game and not a real world. When it comes to MMO's, I think it is important that the player feel constantly immersed in the world. For example, I would love to see Coruscant at night just like in Episode 2 when everything is dark and colourful. Just the change in art/day cycle would keep me interested to play more. The second thing that is dear to my heart is Pod Racing. The one thing this game needs is a variety of things you can do to take a break from grinding. The space fights are great (and I love the fact you are bringing many more out in the next few patches) but they are short lived and few. Pod Racing is exciting, fast paced, fun and totally Star Wars. There is so much you can do with it and it has a ridiculous amount of replayability when you VS your friends in multiplayer. You could make a betting system where players can bet on their friends and win prizes, commendations, vehicle parts and credits. You can do a levelling system where racers can increase their rank when they win and the races get harder, faster. You can do an upgrade system where you can modify your pod and customise it. The game could be on rails or preferably like the old school game Star Wars Racer. This would be a great addition and would make the game even more unique as no other MMO has anything like it. People would spend hours just playing pod racing. The last thing I would like to add is something I have seen so many times on this forums that I though it must be mentioned, and that is free flight Dog fights. I understand that to create a free flight dog fight system would take a long time so perhaps you could make a single Warzone to begin with where it is free for all or team based dog fight battles? That way you can perfect the system with one warzone and then expand it later. A great model to look at is Star Wars Rogue Squadron on the Nintendo consoles. They perfected the Star Wars dogfights. I think it is also important to add more ship parts as well as visual changes based on ship customisation. That would mean we can show off our ships to our friends and work towards making our rides look awesome. The best part about the Pod Races and Dog Fights is that they will add much needed variety, create new systems for endgame content and in general keep people playing. I personally know at least ten people who would buy the game and join the world just because it has pod racing. Same thing goes with Dog fights which are why I decided to write this letter to you. You guys are the only team that can pull this off properly and make it epic. I hope this reaches your eyes as I look forward to many more days playing this with my friends. Community support will be great and will go a long way to getting this message across to our favourite developer so please shout your support below! Thank you all! (Also, please increase the variety of mounts we can buy because for the moment, there are like only 8 which is very low for an MMO. This one's just a little quibble though. ) P.S. This is a second posting of the same thread here which is being discussed in the General Discussions forum. This post did so well that I thought it important to bring it to the developers attention. Thank you all for your support and ideas!
  7. They wouldn't be at the same time but would still have their own time cycle I would think.
  8. They need to take some inspiration from the Clone Wars series as they have gone and done a lot of exotic things that would fit perfectly with The Old Republic. Not to mention the fact it is already approved by Lucas himself. For example, the world with the glowing plants or the planet where the Nightsisters reside. The game needs some more of the exotic things from the Star Wars Universe. The Night and Day Cycle could be resolved by looking at that series. Similar art style too.
  9. They need to bring in a lot more new features if they want to keep up rather than adding more of the same. Bioware is great at adding new stuff which is why I am looking forward to some of their secret hinted new stuff See my post for some ideas! http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=535255
  10. Thank you for the information! I am very excited to see these features implemented!
