  1. I chose the republic even though I'm sith and like Acina because I hate Quinn.
  2. Having been born and raised in the Western world of upper-middle class parents I find the that the Republic represents the absolute worst form of a republic. It is corrupt, lacking a strong central government, hypocritical, and certain of its own self-righteousness. The Empire is an oligarchy and a meritocracy, it doesn't matter who your parents are if you have the force. Now saying that the force is your measurement isn't fair might be true but anything that is decided by ability is fair, there will always be those who have more and those who have less, at least this ability has direct and measurable impact upon the world. Between the two I would choose the Empire, for all it's flaws it is upfront and honest about the system whereas the Republic tries to pretend that it and it's guardians (the Jedi) are fair and just. During the Mandalorian war the Jedi Council refused to get involved no one is sure why aren't they supposed to protect worlds from conquerors? During the first war with the Sith they razed Korriban with who knows how many children on it that they could have tried to "redeem". It is the hypocrisy of both the Jedi and the Republic that offends me. Evil is not just doing wrong it is also ignoring the wrongs of others and saying you are good because you don't personally do it in fact it is worse, at least the Empire acknowledges its acts the Republic pretends they're atrocities didn't happen.
  3. 1.2 million is a tiny army for liberating or conquering any real planet. sorry but in intergalactic terms numbers reach truly "astronomical" size. On a single planet(Earth) current military forces of countries with standing military forces above a thousand combined is equal to 67.1 million rounding each force down to the thousand, so 1,999 became 1,000 in my math, I just ignored anything in the hundreds row and any country with less the 1,000 became 0. So my number is lower than the actual number. This number does not include, private military forces not employed by countries, the forces of unrecognized countries/organizations (e.g. gangs, terrorist organizations, Islamic State), nor does it account for retired but physically capable of serving individuals. So I find 1.2 million a hard to swallow number even for an "elite vanguard force that will be followed by the holding force" on an intergalactic scale. Sorry for the rant, but I really dislike it when the numbers in space operas seem to have no basis in real life, I would prefer they just used many, lots, vast, or other descriptions than use a real number that seems to just be ridiculous for the size of the galaxy.
  4. I personally love the Inquisitor story line until after the end where I've stated before all the interlude quests make me feel like a glorified helper monkey for the rest of the Empire. That said my character ended up getting the pure standing and not on purpose. It just seemed every time you had a choice between dark and light the light side made more sense logically, not even morally. I'll give an example. Minor Spoiler Black Talon Flashpoint You get the choice to either spare of kill the captain of your ship right before you go into battle. Now to me this seems not about light or dark but about my own survival, I can either kill the Experienced, war veteran captain, or keep him in command. I'm chasing a warship in a transport ship for my own survival I feel leaving the captain in charge before engaging makes a lot more sense, then killing him and turning command over to his unexperienced Lt. It's not mercy guiding my hand it's self preservation. I feel that sparing him shouldn't get me light points it should just stay neutral but whatever doesn't really change game play.
  5. Okay while I'm fine with the Rakghoul event I must say how I first found out about it was shocking and kind of weird. I was shopping on the fleet and the person next to me EXPLODED, I'll admit I wasn't around for the last Rakghoul event so this freaked me out when a seeming random player just exploded all over me, and I look down and I have a new effect going (infection). And to the person complaining about the Gree event for comparison I would point out that event doesn't randomly effect you elsewhere in the Galaxy; I can see how if you don't want to do the Rakghouls it would annoy you to have to pay attention to every other player as a possible infection source, and your solution of buy a vaccine or equipment negates the point of just wanting to avoid the entire thing.
  6. I will admit I haven't played all the way through with any class other than my Inquisitor but I have gone part way through some of all of them and I have to say I couldn't really stand any of the others except perhaps smuggler; mostly for the one liners which were pretty good. Personally I loved the Inquisitor story up until the afterward part. minor spoiler So I'm on the Dark Council and I still feel like I'm the freaking errand boy every time there is a problem, Corellia Black Hole, Belsavis Section X, the Dread Masters plot, Malgus rebellion, Makeb, Seeker Droids, and The Shroud .Every freaking time man, Marr, Moff can't remember name right now, General whoever, or even the other council members (why is Marr the only persons name I can remember?) calls you and basically gives you orders, it might make sense if my duties included the military in some respect but I'm in charge of the Sphere of Ancient Knowledge not Military Offense, Defense of the Empire, or Military Strategy so why do I get all the "Help us Darth Nox/Occlus/Imperius. Your our only Hope." calls?
  7. Okay the debate seems to have gotten off track talking about creatures other than Sith Lords, but I will make this one comment even canon is interpretation, history is written by the victors, history becomes legend, and fades and so on, comparing lords from different times is not easy, particularly when they choose different forms to express power. Sidious chose political means to achieve his ends, Vitiate chose ritual, Exar Kun chose direct conquest so comparing them is difficult. It would be like comparing Alexander, Octavius, and Stalin about who was more powerful. Alexander conquered more, Stalin directly controlled more peoples lives for his reign, but Octavius' empire lasted longer so who was more powerful? well depends on what you define as power. Sidious was the only one to succeed in destroying the Republic, Vitiate's empire lasted longer, and Exar Kun did things like attack Coruscant himself, so back to earlier comparison, Exar Kun would be Alexander, Vitiate would be Octavius, and Sidious would be Stalin. Oh and I know I might be reopening an old discussion but I just read this so sorry if most people don't care anymore.
  8. Okay let's all be honest here the rule of two seems a bit odd when SPIRITS of dead Sith can still wield some form of power, and their mere presence can drive people bat crap crazy without trying, are floating around in tombs all over the galaxy. So it's not just "the two" who are using the dark side, but the dead spirits of dozens? hundreds? thousands? of Sith are out there doing who knows what, I mean Exar Kun was TAUGHT by the spirit of a dead Sith so no living master needed for the Sith to continue, logic would suggest that during the rule of two era there could have been quite a few force sensitive being taught by long dead Sith who had no clue that some upstart (Darth Bane) had implemented some crazy rule, all they know is that there don't seem to be that many Sith running around and they better get to teaching if they want the order to survive. Unless the Sith have some super secret way of informing every spirit around that the order is going into hiding and they should lay low for awhile, unlikely considering that Exar Kun was taught when the Sith Empire was doing exactly that before SWTOR soooo that doesn't seem to happen.
  9. Can a Sith be a good guy? I see no reason why not, while they are not portrayed that way because let's be honest they make better bad guys just because they use emotion and passion doesn't mean they can't be passionate about the right things e.g. fighting against a tyranny or an evil criminal group. However as others have pointed out when they disregard the welfare of others in their quest they can quickly fall into the "ends justify the means" trap. There have been many examples throughout history of just such events, groups and individuals with good causes that ended badly, but there are equal numbers of times that it has not. And while many might point to the whole "Peace is a lie" part of their code that doesn't mean a Sith has to be constantly at war; conflict comes in many shapes and sizes. However that said the quote only states a fact of the universe, never in the course of HUMAN history has the world been at peace, and that's just one species on one planet, so I don't think that in an intergalactic setting finding a place to fight for the right reasons would be exactly difficult for a "good" Sith.
