  1. Not when you know their posting history (and no, I don't have to check their history manually, I know most people's posting history just by being here alot).

    He is definately being sarcastic.

Sure, after reading your posting in pretty much every thread in existence I guess I've learn something to just play along and agree with everything BW did.

No point voicing concern, since you and your posse will pretty much derailed every thread that have any amount of criticism toward the company.

  2. You just couldn't help yourself, could you? Instead of staying on topic in your own thread, you had to come out and spew your idiotic ideas again about how you decide what other people need.

Are you, the king of "I decide what people need", having a hard time understanding why people think legacy storage is more important to them? Well perhaps you should try to spend more time trying to understand other people instead of deciding for them what they want so you don't need to be gobsmacked that they have the audacity to want something else than you decided for them.

And besides, we'll probably get at least 3 more versions with slightly different colours anyway. And hey we get thrown to death with mounts so another is nice sure, but let's be honest...would players generally be more interested in legacy storage which is something they don't have at the moment or yet another speeder of which already hundreds are available?

So nope, no outrage. Doesn't even rate anywhere near my top 100 of wishes for this game. And I will admit that mount looks really awesome, but I already have lots of awesome rides, so what's one more or less?

    ^^^^^

Tried really hard to derail his own topic. must be a hard habit to break I guess.

  3. Yeah, whatever dude. Seem to me IMO you are doing pretty much just as bad as those trolls and trying to justified whatever your action is by giving analogies, saying the other side start the BS or whatever.

I guess I'll just be a forum lurker from now on, maybe have a nice giggle when s* hit the fan in certain thread, watching people duke it out like their life depends on it.

  4. And why are you, seemingly, more horrified by people defending the game by pointing out the flaws in someones arguments or pointing out that they are lying/overblowing the issue, but not at all horrified by people complaining about a game by lying or overblowing issues?

Like I said in this thread before, shouldn't the issue in question be the point the discussion instead of whether the issue is small/big, or exagerated by the OP etc.

But again like you told me before, I'm new here. So, whatever dude.

  5. Says the man who said this when someone complained that the alderaan taxis took too long:

And this about people who care about immersion:

Yeah, I don't understand that kind of behavior either

Dude, when you have to stalk people post history and paste it in a different thread, then you are making this thing like a full time job and you took whateveer happen in this forum waaaaaaay too serious.

Yes, he might been rude in another post, but when you have to go way back and pasting whatever he's saying there over here... Dang, you Americans really freak me out.

  6. I'm not sure it can be said about both sides actually. It's a rare occurrance (if it ever happened at all, I never heard of it at least) that a so-called "defender" started a thread to just flame or troll the "haters"...

The opposite happens quite often tho.

If I remember correctly there a few thread started that sound like a 'defenders bait' (pretty much like a trool bait) but sounded like wanting to get a reaction from the 'trolls' in the past weeks. Really fishy.

That's why I have largely given up on taking the high-road, and I answer in the same manner as the one I'm talking to.

Just like in real life, if someone acts like a jerk to me I'll usually act the same way back.

Well then that makes you no better than this so called 'trolls' IMHO. Since you pretty much stoop to their level that you so much despise.

  7. In principle, yes.

Also, keep in mind.. we do have some forum members that make it a priority to create drama and get other forum members worked up over something. And forum posting history DOES factor in to the type of responses some forum members receive.

That can be said for "people of both side" of the fence. Well I guess I will never understand these kind of behaviors (again, coming from different culture); 'Trolls' trolling or 'Defenders' flaming and both did it with so much devotion as if is a full time job and got nothing better to do with their time.

To each their own i guess, Whatever make both side happy.

I'm off to watch some WC soccer match.

  8. Take mine for example. I'm usually pointing out when people complain unduly (like demanding that a bug that was discovered today is fixed today) or just plain stating opinions and feelings as facts (things like "nobody is playing this game any more because my server is empty).

I'm also pretty belligerent, so I usually respond in a pretty rude or aggressive way. Something I'm not proud of by the way, and I'm trying to stop doing that.

But you'll also see that I do actually criticise the game. Something that plenty of people claim that I never do.

So look at peoples posting history if you want to see what kind of people they are. (on the forums at least).

But shouldn't the bug in question be the point of discussion instead of the way the OP of said thread conveys it?

Sure he might be acting like most of the users call 'entitled' or whatever, but wouldn't it better to discuss that said bug instead of flaming the thread to death and the developers wont even aware of the bug in question?

  9. Well look at it this way.

Say you like a soccer team.

And then someone comes on that soccer teams forum and starts criticising them.

Now, if that criticism is valid and presented in a constructive manner, there usually won't be much of a problem.

Sure, there might be one or two die-hard fans that can't accept any critique at all of their team, but usually it would just lead to a discussion. Maby even a lively one, but still relatively civilized.

That is the same thing that happens here when someone brings forward a valid and calmly presented criticism (of course, valid is often relatively opinionated, but still).

Now, say that on that same teams forum, most of the criticism is in the shape of "this team sucks! you should all stop playing soccer at all because my 5 year old niece could play better than you! You need to fix this now!".

Then the responses would be alot different, would they not?

The same applies here, because this is a game that people (at least some of the people on this forum) like and has invested alot of time and effort into.

So of course they feel an attachment to the game. And if someone comes into the forums simply to complain about the game or criticise it without a calm and constructive demeanor, then alot of people will react negatively to it.

As for it not being the users job to defend criticism, you could say the same about the people criticising... that would be the job of game reviewers, not the users, right?

If the user doesn't like the game, he should just not play it if you look at it that way.

But the forums are for expressing opinions, and if someone has the right to express their opinion about the game in a negative way, others have the same right to respond to that if they don't agree.

Well I guess I can agree on most of your post except for the last paragraph. Since for me game reviewers are the same as users. Both are gamers who play that particular game.

As of saying users who dont like the game, I pretty much sure they all leaved already and dont bother to post here on the forum at all.

Because from what I saw, most complaints or critism come from different users, and I honestly believe that most of these complaint come out of frustuation; game state, bugs etc but these people still love the game and hope for the game to be better in the future. But the one I always see been defending it are pretty much the same bunch of people. And make it like a full time job policing the forum and flaming any form of critism. Which for me is still silly (and again, I'm from a different culture).

  10. I am curious as to when this has ever happened.

For some reason I doubt anyone has been told to leave the game just because they have trouble logging in.

I could believe it if they acted like ******** and didn't actually try to resolve the problem in a calm manner, but instead resorted to namecalling and other bad behaviours.

But I doubt anyone was ever told to leave the game when reporting that they had trouble logging in.

I can't point to the specific thread but it happen in some of the thread in the CS forum. And it really left a bad taste in me when i first come into the forum.

And as of people acting in bad manner, the obvious trolls sure, we can flame them to death or we could just ignore his/her trollbait.

But on critism, I really dont see why it is the users job to fend of critism. Isn't that the developers/publisher job? I'm from a different culture so I apologize if I dont understand how stuff works over there. Heck, even the term trolls or fanboys don't even exist here where I live.

But I really find it's silly when people get upset of people criticizing the GAME, and all of them up in arms defending it as if people are insulting their belief/religion etc.

And again I apologize in advance because from a different culture I dont know how stuff work over there.

  11. Read my post again, I didnt say for those who criticize to leave, I said for those who dont like the game and just come here to spew poison against the company and the game and to anyone who has fun, honestly dude if you dont like the game leave, find a game that makes you happy, why endure the torture of playing a game which you hate, despise and dont enjoy? It is call masochism.

Wow! I have to agree with you.

  12. My main concern is by just reading this forum any new player may feel the game is on life support and will stay away from it, when that is not true. Everywhere I log in the game has hundreds of players all over in my server alone and I am talking level 1- level 30 areas.

Kantaso, I'm a new player as well, on;ly here since May, and a month ago, I pretty much has the same feeling like you wondering why all the negative talk about this game and the community (on another forum, webpage etc). And for the first month I just played the game and enjoying it. I dont even bother to visit the official forum.

Then patch 2.8 hit, I have a few problems with logging in lag and stuff, so I visit here, and my impression quickly change since all i see is every form of critism no matter how mild are pretty much derailed by the same group of users. Some people are having trouble to log in and they pretty much being told to leave the game by some of the users. And since then, I kinda understand why people outside this game are always making fun of SWTOR community.

  13. The fallacy of this never ending supply of new players is comical. Sure, there are some, but far from enough to offset those leaving. The marketing is over, the boxes are gone, people can't even find game cards in stores and the reviews have been written. The trickle of new players is nothing compared to the loss of those who have been here for 2-1/2 years.

Dude, u can PM me and i can give u a link for cheap gamecard from a Malaysian gamestore. It sell at about 13 USD for 60 days, nobody is playing this game here, so the gamestore has to give a huge discount to the gamecard since nobody want em. Other MMO gamecard are selling at normal price though.

  14. sure, we're nothing but blind defenders because we understand complex problems and things like technology, modern sw development, economics...reality.

Most of us "defenders" have full time jobs in technology who deal with the realities of a schedule, money, project planning, and have in the past dealt with customers. where boss has unrealistic expectation and the customer has unrealistic expectation and we're in the middle trying to make 7 perpendicular red lines with multi-colored inc.

Customer is not always right, most often than not the customer is an idiot who does not understand anything beyond their own demands. I've been there, seen it, holds true fairly well.

ex. worked at a gas station, person inserts gas nozzle and gets back in car (its winter and cold) pump fails to shut off for mutliple reasons and leaks gas on the ground...person complains it was our fault and we should give him a discount for extra gas (that isnt' in his car) and a free car wash (for the gas that spilled on the side). knowing full well that it is their responsibility to monitor the pumps. But they chose to ignore the PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and instead blame the company. When I say no, I am a bad customer service for not bending to their every demand and not communicating the policy/process outside of the numerous signs and warnings -.-

I still can't see the connection between my first impression of the forum and an unknown guy working in technology and a broken gas nozzle. I guess I am the idiot customer here.

  15. 1. Story - Since most of above posters have explained this, i guess i'll just skip it.

    2. Voice Acting - As Above

    3. Groupmate's Quest on our Minimap - this is for me the most helpful feature in the game. having our groupmate's quest locations automatically showned on our minimap. Easy for group to do quest together. Granted I havent played much MMO's out there, but the one that I played, WoW; dont have this features so kudos to BW.

  16. No.

What new players see is a handful of the same fanatical defenders jumping to Bioware's rescue. Their blind devotion to Bioware and support of every decision made, causes more harm than good. IMO

I like this game, I subscribe and play it quite often. Negative posts don't scare me. Some are even funny. Some have great ideas.

Somebody bashes the game you play? Big deal. People bash Walmart and it doesn't affect me. I still shop there.

That pretty much sums up my first impression when i jumped into the forum back in May.

  17. why do whiners need to come in here and vent complain? Why can't we discuss our concerns rationally and constructively in peace without people coming in here just to complain and derail our rational discussions with conjecture and unsubstantiated "facts'?

why do defenders need to come in here and defend? Why can't we discuss our concerns rationally and constructively in peace without people coming in here just to defend and derail our rational discussions with conjecture and unsubstantiated "facts'?

  18. In other words.. you want a one sided discussion with all contrary views censored?

    NO.

I support peoples right to complain, as long as it is not complete hyperbole and made up information presented as fact and not presented in a tantrum format. I also support everyone elses right to disagree with complaint, as long as they explain why. That is what two way communication is.

Not censored. Just let them whine, the whiners can at least vent something, maybe they will feel better after that. Those who doesn't have any problems can just go on and play the game, instead of derailing every whiners threads.

This is my second month here and so far I haven't read any of these 'trolls' or 'whiners' attacking threads that praised the game.

  19. I feel your plight, but "demanding" something doesn't get results.

Asking politely does. The current results being they said info was coming soon and which judging by my thread where I asked about it would be next monday or tuesday.

If you want to whine go right ahead, I won't stop you. But I will tell you demanding stuff won't make it come faster in an mmo, especially one with this kind of staff attached to it.

May the forum users just let the whiners whine in peace, please? No need to derailed whiners threads,

  20. not trolling, just whining and whining about whining.

there was 1 (single, uno, more than 0 less than 2) threads about the cartel fiasco and that was more about the the loss of trust than prices.

However, these threads are just that, whining. We want more info..well more info than what was given, and we want it faster, cause what we have been given, we've already digested and spit up so need more.

They could tell us every detail from day one and you complain if it changes.

give no detail until locked down and its too long between updates

Its always More more more, faster faster faster, Instant gratification and nobody will ever give you enough information fast enough to satiate the want (read DEMAND).

I DEMAND that whiners be allowed to whine in peace.
