  1. If tank is dying running to 2nd walker- he's standing in blue circles from walker 1.

Walker 2 will drop aggro on its tank- and start shooting the tank on walker 1. That's the cue to tank swap. But usually to make it a little tougher walk1 tank gets the blue circles from his walker. It's fast and if the tank doesn't anticipate it- it's a tank killer - it cannot be healed through.

So I guess if he didn't know what killed him- Id ask him if he was kiting the blue circles ? I would tell him to just run to the wall behind him drop circles behind then turn around and run back to spot he was tanking walker1. That way you don't LOS any healers and the boss will stay faced away from raid.

That fight is a DPS check- and one DPS must be anticipating walker 1 shield. He needs to blow that as soon as shield goes up. If he doesn't move to get bomb until the shield is up- you won't have enough time to DPS before the enrage.

DPS just isn't geared enough yet (min max 192/198) to be able to make up the time. It's a short fight-enrage 5 or 6 mins?

Main tank on walker1 will get blue circles like 15 sec into fight and it's quick- they come fast and if he hadn't moved its a insta kill.

    Good luck

  2. Hard to do right Corbin, this is sithras.

I have 4 of my 56 tanks leveled and geared at 60. As soon as I saw the comm gear I thought oh boy. This is gonna cause some probs. On one hand- tanks can finally buy tank gear with comms and it's not threaded with accuracy alacrity. However it is all endurance heavy "b" mods and enhancements.

What that does is greatly increase your hit points but at the same time it takes away your mitogation.

I know you heard me complain about how hard it was to gear a tank pre 3.0... We had to run hardmodes and literally win 4 set bonus pieces and 10x more set bonus pieces of any kind and tear out mods and enhancements.

Now you have tanks running around with 53k health and really good healers cannot even heal them. Bc they are taking more damage than healers can heal.

    It's a nightmare.

My advice- if you have 180 raid gear (min max mods or enhancements ) keep them over 186 comm gear.

Keep all set bonus armorings- for a tank even 162 is better than no setbonus in 186.

Buy comm gear DPS armorings for any piece That isn't a set bonus.

Have an artifice craft you sturdiness 186 enhacements (absorb) or immunity enhancements 186 (defense)

Those are the min max enhacements now(they were not available per 3.0 for raiding)

They are really really good. higher mitigation stat than even the old bastion and bulwarks were.

My main Jugg tank has 46k health- and full min max 180 mods/ 186 enhacements.

And he's sitting at 3400 total mitigation. From memory 23% def, 38 shield, 35 absorb

As you start to get drops- 192b comm gear (always look and see if endurance is higher than mainstat- if it is-- its a b mod. ) (or it could be an a mod - which is high mainstat, med endurance, low mitigation)

One tier lower- min max is always better than - one tier higher a or B mod.

Keep setbonus always until you get new set bonus.

    Good luck

  3. They stated, for months, DPS was going to be lowered - "nerfed". It was probably necessary- dos numbers were getting out of hand. This brought the classes as a whole, back. Iit should also make the content more challenging. Which, in a video game, isn't that why we're here?

Sure it won't be popular - but look at the big picture

    The

  4. Recklessness (Imp)

    Force Potency (Rep)

    (the auto crits)

(deflection is the +50% defense, same for both sides)

Major err on my part- I must of flipped that in my head and when I was typing.

So is deflection still giving us defense?

I would hope- as it's the only real way we an deal with nefra/ calphysus ATM.

Other than stacking defense-- carrying two sets of armour-- which is already assasine tryingto gear one set on a tank...

How about giving us some love in the equipment comm dept.

And making it slightly easier to maintain darknprotectionthata the real prob with sins- mitigation next to light armour... Not giving us more absorb... Especially when so many major attacks completely ignore SHIELD thereby making absorb utterly useless....

C'mon I heard good things were on the way for sin tanks... This is literally a step back

  5. Darkness Sins: am i correct in reading that force pull is not granting harnessed darkness stacks? I was under the impression we were going to get some help in our dark protection uptime. Casting FL on the run would of helped that, rather than having to stand still to cast the one ability that gives us the greatest benefit.

Recklessness (deflection) is now giving us +30% absorb, in addition to dark wards +20% shield.... that sounds great in theory, but in my opinion you can stack all the shield and absorb in the world - but it doesnt matter if someone crits... we dont get a roll then - - and our light armour is just completely useless for the mitigation roll we get. still spiky as hell looks like - well be at 80% health and then boom one RNG away from sub 20%.

guess well have to see - the stance s +10% internal/elemental may make a diff for the uncleansable dots - but the root of sin tanks problem -- was either the terrible armour mitigation - leading to spikiness -- or the RNG with shield. I have run 44% base shield on my sin in an attemt to prevent a lot of this dmg - but it just doesnt matter when we cannot shield certain attacks - or we just plain lose 3 rolls in a row to the RNG -- ven at 75% shield that means nothing to a crit, or technically we could have 4 RNG rolls go terribly wrong ni a row - and = dead sin tank. wipe.

  6. My main tank- and for the guild progression- we did just implement a dkp system - how do you roll for a tanks "nefra" set? Is that usually bid alt?

Speaking of that - what do you think the best way to gear a progression team? Healers first- main tank- then dps?

    Curious what others do.

I do know running 53%-55% absorb for the last 7-8 boss kills- I've never seen absorb % numbers above 30%. Always wondered if parsed was actually calculating correctly.

Guess best way to compare is to run high shield for awhile and start comparing past logs.

I'll still upload a few see if you people can find some area of improvement.

  7. Thanks for the advice, I'll put some logs up when I get home.

I have run hybrid in brontes- it's pretty nasty for that fight.

I realize I need to change hear for diff bosses. But it has taken over 30+ boss kills to get this one armour. I don't know how to convince a dps to pass on them so I can hear up- what do other tanks do?

Prob I see mostly I run the same toon- while raids customize heals and dps by who is online. So one guy has probably geared three dps and a healer by the time I'll be done with my first set. So getting a 2nd set really isn't realistic given my circumstances.

I do however usually change 5-7 augs to either absorb or defense.

When you say I'm defending really high and my shield is low. Is 23% super high?

Think my last raptus fight I had defended 18%, shielded 23%, and absorbed like 7%.

Just wondering if anyone has run full on shield augs- around 47-49%? And what the result was

  8. Endgame hardmode raiding sin tank here- currently running 2640 total mitigation, two set bonus pieces away from 180 min maxed.

I've been religiously following keyboardninja's tanking theory crafting charts (thank you so much KBN for the hardwork and dedication! The community is a better off with your knowledge)

Currently running 552 defense, 864 shield, 1224 absorb. Shield is the highest I can reach with min max enhancements. Running a 186 DF earpiece (accuracy/defense) in place of the veracity for the extra 106 mainstat and 120 endurance (+1000 health points). I realize the veracity nets me +104 shield but the 186 earpiece is hard to turn down all that mainstat/endurance.

Running 186 (Bis?) sin tank implants

    And

Dread forged fort redoubt/ reactive warding relics.

    Augments: 4 def/ 13 absorb.

1.) I've min/maxed as close as possible to KBN suggested mitigation for shadow/sin tanks for HM DF/DP raiding. (I don't carry three sets armour, I use his average theory numbers. It's taken months just to get this close to min/maxed- I will never understand why we have to NEED on tokens while dps and healers can buy lost of theirs with comms.

I do augment a little higher defense as I do see it helps on nefra/calphysus and the SnV runs I main tank.

2.) I keep my dark protection stacks atleast 90%of the time- refresh dark ward when I see it hit 3 stacks left or when it's expiring. There are some fights I delay casting lightning for DP when I know a boss is preparing for a high damage mechanic. Shroud the mechanics as best I can. Force cloak/taunt to break as many channels I can.

Defense hovers around 23%, shield 38%, absorb 49%. Stimmed and class buffs - no dark ward for those numbers.

Just wondering if I should drop defense to 20%?, absorb to about 42-45%, and augment almost all shield (think I would have to run all shield augments to do that) and try and run 45-49% shield.

That would give me approx 70% shield with Dw up... Which I honestly think would be better than absorbing 53-55% (with wd absorb %'s).

Always parsec and analyze my logs just curious as I notice with current build I parry/defend well- but shield % numbers in parsec is always hella low. And seems I take a lot of spike dmg (I know sins are notorious for this)

But I consider myself a better than average sin tank in terms of keeping my harnessed stacks/dark protection up, anticipating incoming boss's mechanic damage, effectively utilizing class cooldowns and buffaZ

I know the hardmode content in and out- just trying to optimize my strategy make it easier on my healers atm, as my hardmode progression team is learning and gearing still- and we are attempting to clear HM df brontes and HM raptus ATM.

Thanks KBN - just wondering how ya feel about that. I know your numbers state otherwise, never seen anyone recommend full shield augments for a sin.

I experiment with diff stuff all the time- even ran all def augments and stacked def for 29% - which actually worked pretty well .

  9. so i had a saber made - an offhand - chest and boots. i used 162 hilt, 156 mod, 140 enh - in MH and OH. chest and boots were 156 156 140 - as i cannot for life of me find a 162 armour that i can pull and re use..

still only around 1904-1910 expertise.. i dont have any expertise gear on - i thought i read RANDLE had managed to get his to 1981 - which is significantly higher than what im able to obtain.

would i need 162/156/140 in every armour piece?

also** running crafted 156 ears and implants..

  10. Ah I will do that tomorrow - tonight I had 156/156/140 , arkanian armor pve, 156 ear 162 implants, obroan pvp relics. I was at 1904 expertise in game. Seemed a little low, but I know I don't have the proper mods ATM.

    Ran batches overnight,

I have a lot of war zone comms saved up. When I'm upgrading to my pvp gear- as long as every item mod component (hilt/armour, mod, end) has expertise on it- I can upgrade one piece at a time? Or should I wait until I have a full set, and stick with the arkanian?

I did put my expertise crystal in the demo saber- and it dropped expertise down to 1740. Yikes.

Such a complicated system to grasp. Thanks!

  11. wow RANDLE! excellent thread. I lost power during the T-storm so instead of running dailies, i was on the forums with my ipad and i stumbled upon this thread.

Made it to page 35 before my ipad went kaput.

Ive been playing for a few months, hit 55 on my jugg tank a few days ago. So while i like to PVP, my pve set armour has been my prioirity.. I dont think i can work on the PVP armour too.

So this thread was very helpful.

I do have some questions though, to my knowledge: after taking notes reading through this.

For those that dont have PVP gear and are a melee weapon dmg player (jugg, mara)

the BiS PVE MH/OH is 162/156/140 (or 162/150/146) *adding up those numbers gives you 458. (where the theoretical max total is 460 = before you start seeing expertise that has been bolstered = LOST)

so the biggest confusion for me is, the fact the naming conventions have recently changed, and most of this post was in the old format? correct?

when you say use 46 blues.. i have never seen a level 46 blue MOD/ENH. to me, there are LVL 45 mods blue- DEFTMOD 20a - item rating 108; and LVL 47 Mods blue - DEFTMOD 21a - item rating 112.

same for ENH - level 45 blue (INSIGHT ENHANCEMENT 20, item rating 108; or level 47 blue - INSIGHT ENH 21, item rating 112.

is that what you mean when you say Blue 46? because its awfully confusing.

Also - for my MH. I just got my MH underworld hilt item rating 168 - which i think is the OLD 72? i have no idea why we still use the old numbers, it is soo confusing... and if so - after reading through - this hilt would drop my expertise bolster - and should not be used UNTIL i can afford PVP item mods (MODS< ENHANCEMENTS< HILT)

so i should use my old SABER with 162 hilt purple, (OLD 69???)which is bought with comms ARKANIAN Set bonus, or BLACK MARKET... or a drop... a 156 MOD - CRAFTED level 53 PURPLE - DEFTMOD 28, and a 140 ENHANCEMENT, crafted level 50 PURPLE - ADEPT 25.

those would be 162/156/140 - for 458 (2 pts under the cap of 460)

DID i get that conversion right, bc its the ROOT of my confusion atm.

now those are all purple, i could not find any BLUES with those ratings... so

level 46 blues - from voss - are either level 45 or 47.. guesing as long as were under 460 here were good? and these are for your ORANGE ARMOUR - non MH/OH... so stack those into all Armour - using BLUE and not PURPLE mods.

finally for EARS/IMPLANTS use crafted LEVEL 53 purple or level 55 artifact crafted (loot dropped) items.

can you confirm i got all this information correct? i know there are some mods that are special to SET BONUS PVE gear - where you buy the gear with comms, or get a token and buy from fleet, and RIP the mods out... i dont have any or id look at them..

thank you RANDLE - this has been ana amzing thread to follow, once i understand :)

  12. Leveled up a Jugg, Mara, and assassin-

Trying to figure out what works best with Jugg-

I kinda prefer the Jugg for pve- I'm running immortal tree only atm- I had my crafters make two sets of armour- one is loaded with might mods and rage enhancements- strength augments.

Other is might mods, defense enhancements, defense augments- I stacked defense thinking it's best for Jugg- to avoid the dmg- but honestly the DPS gear seems to work better.

With the defense gear- I do have almost 19% defense without skills up- without it's around 6%.

Ran through heroics and 50% nar shades this am- and never dropped health like I thought I would in the DPS gear.

In fact it seemed they both mitigated the same dmg.

What's the best parse program out there? I prob need to see some hard data moving forward.

Up to 25 didn't have much options- but now seem to have tons of choices-

    Earpieces implants enhancements etc.

Should I try some shield enhancements, with defense? Maybe 4 def, 4 shield, 1 absorb?

Read a tank guide on here suggested 37% def, 35% shield 30% absorb roughly.

Just wondering if I should keep the DPS stuff in since I'm not seeing a dramatic diff at this time- still tanked fine through the first 4 heroics- never had to use "oh-crap" buttons either.

(I was running vengeance too with the defense and DPS gear)

It was a lot more fragile-squishy if you will)

I think immortal with DPS is best?

Hard to search through all these guides being two months into the game... Most are written in 2011...and with all the latest updates I doubt their recommendations are worth much.

Accuracy to 100%? Why? I have never seen a miss and I'm sitting at 96% with my earpieces and implants..

    Thanks for the help!!

Also- what the heck gives the comms to buy my set armour?

Is that only level 55 missions?

And what is the recommended set for juggs? What relics provide the best DPS and tank support?

  13. Specd from annihilation to rage- curious if it's best to grab deadly saber then put rest in rage at my level I can grab obliterate - just barely- but can't buff it yet-

Is it wise to slimy trees this early or at all?

Just want to level up quick- finishing my class quests - it's my first character in swtor so I really don't have a grasp if the game yet--

Prob best to get to cascading power fastest then go hybrid if I want when I have the points?

  14. been leveling my marauder up - running carnage atm. im wondering if i shoudl grab the 5 or 6 from annihilation now... or wait till my 50's...

thinking i could max out carnage earlier... then go to other trees... but the fury andrage gen from other trees looks enticing now..

whats the experts advice here? split tree? or al carnage first... or is a dotsmash hybrid viable early?

  15. Just getting started on my assassin level 14. I've been reading asany guides as I can, but I just started playing swtor this week. Have experience with mmorpg, but don't know what classes were like ore 2.7, and what effect 2.7 on the trees of assassin.

I like leveling solo, with a companion- love flash points and will do pvp some...

Darkness tank initially sounded good, but almost every assassin I meet says its broke or weak compared to the other two...

Deception sounds difficult for my first. Trip into swtor... So madness? Is it good for what I want?

  16. thanks i had been annihilation - but i was having some probs with mobs, crowd control... the bleeds were nice - but i felt it lacked something... switched to carnage - b ut again such low level.. hard to say..

maybe its just marauder doesnt feel right - i may need to start an inquisitor...

when leveling a character - is it ok to spread beginning skill points in advanced classes across all 3 trees? i did like some stuff in the anni tree -(fury gen, etc) but when i respec - i usually stick with one tree to get to the good stuff quicker?

  17. I think I have a grasp on equipment- obviously strength, power -

I haven't seen any item mods that have accuracy- is it later I'll look for this?

I asked globally in fleet- which I should level- carnage or rage were the consensus- anni just seems to be more focused for endgame elite bosses- which are few and far between ATM.

So rage vs carnage I guess? Or should I go hybrid right out of the gate?

May the force be with you all!

  18. Been playing now for a week- played Star Wars galaxies from launch through 2010.

Been out of the galaxy the last 4 years...

Been searching websites and reading guides - however most are written prior to the latest patches- I don't have a firm enough grasp on all the intricacies of classes and abilities to know enough yet.

So I'm currently a 17 sith warrior marauder... Played anni spec up until now- but I'm switching to rage I think... Shi cho fits my style better I belive...

I don't mind grouping- but I prefer to take my time solo pve with a companion atm... I do like the pop I just feel I need to learn a little more and get some decent equipment first..

So I'm going to focus on leveling pve ...

Should I max out rage then spend rest on other trees?

Any highly recommended reading- or what skills I should focus on first?

    What about rotations--- ?

Thank you for yor time helping an avid Star Wars fan who is excited to be back !
