  1. dipstik Please do not make the same mistakes as others in arguing a strawman - intended or not. I'm not reporting what the game says - but rather what the Starparse Combat Log is reporting. Starparse Combat Log Tab provides timestamps to .001 resolution. And of course, when I calculate averages - the resolution steps.... I truncate it to .0001. And I simply assume the worst and try to aim well above that - hence my typical waste of alacrity whether aiming for the GCD Tier or a "rate" within the tier. I've never questioned the .1 nor am I challenging it. =8-)
  2. Nope. I don't use Discord much at all, unless a raid I've been invited to requests it. (I'm deaf and color blind...) Nor do I even use blocks or ignores in voice or forums or in game chat channels - never have - never will. I personally consider it a tool for the immature. I also do not use Officer Chat in guild chat - if I have something to say, everyone is going to hear it. If someone who hates me with a passion is in the same channel, thread or voice as I - well that's life. =8-)
  3. I'm merely testing GCD from the client side. That's it. ( Last Activation Timestamp) / (40 Activations - 1 Activation ) = Raw GCD NO IN-TEST ANALYSIS OR ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT VARIABLES BEING MADE - JUST RAW However, you did accuse me of not recognizing something - all the while - you failed to recognize that I actually did. You're an intelligent person, re-read your post. You'll figure it out. =8-)
  4. Thank you for the update. The generalized chart we've had so far for 6.0 just was wanting on tanks for me. I've already booked marked what you have just posted. I really do prefer more granularity on tanks details wise. =8-)
  5. My guess... Dedicated local network port for one virtual server died. And because there's no budget for new hardware - only recycled hardware from elsewhere in EA operations, they brought the virtual server back up sharing what was the dedicated network port of another virtual server. So now two servers are back to where they were the step before the merge was finalized... ...two virtual servers "clock dividing" or " time sharing" the same port. =8-)
  6. [Enter] [shift] One Left Side - One Right Side Titles are easy... If not a thesis statement, as least have a topic sentence that hints at what the next 3-4 sentences will summarize. If you can get this cleaned up, all of us desk sergeants here would love to chat with you. Sincerely, Elite Keyboard Commando 4th Grammar Nazi Division 6th Ivory Tower Battalion =8-)
  7. And here we go again... Point 1: Never said otherwise. Point 2: Never said otherwise. Point 3: Never said otherwise. Request: You can find a few parse on parsely.io - seach up "**rabbit" "acme'**" and "overbored". and finally Point 4: It is OTHER people saying "you need XXXX alacrity points for 1.X gcd for dps". It is ME telling people that's is "religion" or "drinking kook-aid". It is MYSELF and a few others on Satele Shan correcting others: 1. There are Alacrity % Breakpoints. 2. There are class/spec and armor bonuses that make achieving those breakpoints more economically. 3. Most classes without such bonuses, going for 1.3 GCD is not really worthwhile. (Opinion but with some basis in argument.) 4. Some class/specs benefit from wasted alacrity points that get a higher energy/force/heat rate. <<< Pay Attention Finally, it is ME saying, "Here's what my characters look like at the various GCDs." And if you somehow finally found yourself paying attention in just this post alone - you now know why whether temporarily or permanently some of those characters listed had wasted alacrity and the associated rate. So before I continue . . . intended or not, stuff your strawmen where they belong please. About the only things I've done here that are outside of what people expect are the following: 1. Padding from my client perspective does firm up the "slow downs" - slow downs that have likely many variables as a cause - some to be expected - some unknown. (Has already been beat to death, leave the horse alone.) 2. My padding experiments beyond the 1.3 GCD points as noted show a different response to additional alacrity points between my Op Heals and Merc/Sorc healers. That's from my client perspective - and why? I do not know. Period. As to the current Theory Crafting Charts - only thing I question is the lack of Shield / Absorb stat break down for Powertech Tank separate from Juggernaut and Assassin Tanks - as previous Theory Crafting Charts did back in 3.0 and 4.0. As i said many times before . . . I too use the Theory Crafting Charts. I've been away from the game past few days. Going to hop back on my carnage marauder. Reason? I hate the fact that Jugg / Mara don't have a "rate" stat. I like having a GCD raw result change AND a rate change simultaneously when adjusting my characters. The workaround is to simply track the activation and cool down change that occurs on key abilities. Gonna get back to work... =8-)
  8. I've made it clear several times, I'm not a rotation GOD. I'm very limited with what I can do - I use basic rotations that allow me not to lose track on my keyboard or mouse. So basically, I'm trying to see if I can eek out another 1k on stats placement and GCD, not rotation. I probably won't....but I'm open to suggestions. I will add though that the Priming Shot Tactical and Corrosive Dart tactical did hint a slight change in rotation that did make a difference on my Merc and Sniper. Small enough that I could handle it - because it was already in my rotation...just a slight diff in order. =8-)
  9. Technically, and in short answer form . . . yes and no. But then you'd not be paying attention to particulars...I'll explain... As I pointed out to Trixie, I've been chatting with a few HM / NiM raiders who have little or almost no BASE Alacrity in their characters - but are instead loading up on Critical Rating, Devastating Vengeance and Primeval Fatesealer relics and armor sets that give extra procs... ...and pop / proc the GCD they need via rotation and with that crit kicking in - fry and face roll everything in sight. WHILE on the other hand a few I've been talking two are saying: 1. Burst specs don't need any more than the minimal alacrity points for the 1.4 GCD Tier. 2. DOT specs benefit from wasted Alacrity Points at the higher Force/Regen/Heat Dissipation levels in the 1.4 GCD Tier. 3. If your class/spec doesn't have an Alacrity Bonus - don't waste your time with 1.3 GCD. In other words... ...you can be wasting Alacrity points simply by not factoring in how Alacrity affects your character on a class/spec basis. DOT versus Burst versus Sustained That is fundamentally why everyone who says "XXXX is the points you should have in alacrity for DPS" is preaching a religion. Which of course is further complicated by Flagship and armor bonuses... The correct answer really is: 1. Consider your Class / Spec nature or characteristics. 2. Consider the Theory Crafting Charts 3. Try what YOU THINK will work with a given stat budget 4. Test it out on the test dummy 5. See what you actually get in an OP or even in PVP. Right now, I'm asking myself the following: Should I drop my Marksmanship Sniper down to the minimal needed for a 1.4 GCD - as a sustained DPS? As to my Arsenal Merc who is now at 1.3 GCD, but getting the same DPS as she does at 1.4 minimal and 1.4 wasted - should I just leave her be, or does anyone have suggestions? Both are pulling 15-16k off the test dummy in 298 w/ 228 augs - and doing 7.5k to 8.5k on single target boss fights in Legacy OPs. So I'm not exactly disappointed...but you know... I just gotta eek out another 1k!!! =8-)
  10. I love it when a poster hops in, drops a statement and then declares they have ended the debate (assuming their even is one) one and for all. In this case, they either have not payed attention at all or are simply brash. So again... ...and before I say it, put down the pipe, beer, or other drug of your choice and pay very close attention: I'm not arguing or contesting anything other than those who proclaim ONE alacrity number without clarifying details like some kind of religion. Ugh... =8-| =8-|
  11. Gonna disappoint you here Trixie... Short Answer: Doesn't seem to matter at all. My Arsenal Merc has the priming shot tactical and the gear that boosts damage for standing still. At the minimal 1.4 GCD (1220 actual) and the higher Heat Dissipation Rate 1.4 GCD (1444 actual) and at the minimal 1.3 GCD (2376 actual) . . . She pulls 15-16k off dummy and 7.5-8.5k in fight. Same basic rotation...irregardless of which GCD Tier. Sure the 1.3 GCD allows for faster heat dissipation and faster recovery - but she overheats easily if you're not careful. Long Answer: Talked to a few NiM raiders in private whispers while in SM and HM OPs, and it seems they are ignoring base GCD almost entirely. Little or no base alacrity. Devastating Vengeance Relic Alacrity Relic Stacking 3500+ Critical Points And when the Dev Relic triggers, they pop the Alacrity relic OR an Alacrity boost ability as a matter of rotation . . . ...and during that short window of 1.3 / 1.2 / 1.1 GCD and Supercrit . . . Burn Torque to a crisp in two minutes flat, laugh at Master/Blaster and leave Tyrans dead before he even finishes his "famous quotes". It's funny to watch - just can't help but laugh. When it's a bunch of Sorcs together in a 16m, they burn so hard, no heals required, tanks are ignored....it's that crazy. This is in Legacy OPs, not the Dxun OP. I'm guessing it'll continue this way until Bioware finally gets around to their next nerf. A nerf is coming...count on it. =8-(
  12. Again...strawman. You keep attributing a lack of acknowledging of variables to me - which indicates that you aren't paying attention or are deliberating misrepresenting me. Intended or not . . . You're creating a position I have not taken and attacking it - that's a strawman. And again, I'm not arguing anything...just posting my observations from my client perspective. Stating observations from a test session is not arguing...just stating observations. =8-|
  13. *** Another Update *** http://www.mrrabbit.net/misc/swtor/swtorglobalcooldown.php I did several things in this update: 1. Lowered the Alacrity points for my Mercenary healer and Sorcerer healer to something in the ball park of the SWTOR 6.0 Theory Crafting Charts. 2. Leveled, geared and tested my Sniper - Marksmanship. @3244 (Sorcerer - Corruption) @3270 (Mercenary - Bodyguard) Both will very rarely get from a client perspective a "clean" 1.3 GCD. They get mostly 1.31 to 1.32 results in a full test - and intermittently will experience slow downs that drop to to 1.37 / s RAW which are of course treated at 1.4 /s Actual. My Marksmanship Sniper @1665 just broke into the 5.5 /s Energy Regen Rate territory and walks a very fine line from a local client perspective at 1.4032 /s Raw GCD for a 1.4 Actual GCD. My Sniper has always lagged behind my Arsenal Merc . . . so I'm heading downstairs to look at my tactical and gear choices for him. He's my main... =8-)
  14. I took Trixie's suggestion of trying a macro setup. Installed AutoHotKey Wrote a script such that when a toggle key was pressed, the "1" key would be spammed. I tried: 4 per second 5 per second 6 per second 10 per second 20 per second 100 per second <-- was bizzare, made the cooldown effect flicker... Oddly enough, 20 per second and 100 per second actually caused all my 1.3 GCD toons to drop to 1.32-.133 raw average for a 1.4 GCD. The global cooldown sliding window effect on the ability bar would reset midway 3-4 times during a test. So I kept it to 6 per second. I would experience 1-2 resets during a test session at 6 per second. My toons would have a few test results where the average gave me a 1.3 GCD...and a couple where the average would give me a 1.4 GCD. I tried 4 per second...but starting getting worse results...too slow I guess. 5 per second seemed to get me the best results...a few 1.3 GCD test results, and a 1.4 GCD test result roughly the same as when I use my finger. So I guess nothing has really changed... One thing I did notice is that each time I launched my AutoHotKey scripts, it caused the SWTOR UI to reset. =8-|
  15. Quote: "For him to call proper math "magic numbers" is therefore unwarranted as his method only proves why the math is correct, but you do have to pay attention to what's going on." Again, knock it off with the damn strawman.
  16. Chances are pretty good that'll be listing 200-300 black/grey dyes at 43k each in the near future. =8-)
  17. Anyhow, I'm probably going to strip 300-400 alacrity points out of both my Sorcerer and Mercenary healers. Both triggered a new Force Regen Rate and Heat Dissipation Rate at 3700 points...in order to get what I view as a "clean GCD". BUT, in just a few ops, both felt nice and smooth BUT it also felt like they were throwing Tissue Paper heals instead of Kolto Bombs and Blessings of Life. So I'm going to drop them both right down to where my Operative healer is - much closer to the chart - and the associated Force Regen Rate / Heat Dissipation Rate so they can have 300-400 points back in Critical Rating. For both at 1.3 GCD in accordance with the charts, I will just have to accept the occasional 1.4 GCD cool downs that occur during rotation on the client side of things. =8-(
  18. Again I am merely reporting what the Test Dummy shows via Starparse Combat Log. Again I am merely reporting what my characters look like after I put in excess alacrity points to make sure from a Client perspective that I get a "clean" GCD. I am NOT questioning the math...the theory charts...the GCD tiers, the rounding practice... I am not making any "ballsy" claims... if YOU don't like what I'm posting, as I keep telling everyone around me: "Do your own testing on the Test Dummy." It's on your own personal starship across all characters as a legacy perk. Starparse is free. How hard can it be to simply do your own testing? =8-|
  19. The problem is Trixie, is I'm not arguing against the Theory Crafting Charts or the Math. I actually use 'em each release, and make local adjustments and inform where my characters are at. It is OTHER people perceiving an argument - and ragging on me. In all honestly, the only issue I have with the latest Theory Crafting paper is in regards to: Shield Absorb ...and Powertech Shield Tech Tanks Previous iterations of Theory Crafting documents going all the way back to 3.0 made distinctions for Powertech Tanks apart from Immortal Juggernaut Tanks and Darkness Sin Assassin Tanks. That's about it.... I suspect this may be why I'm seeing quite a few new Powertech Tanks set up with: 1000 Shield Points 2500 Absorb Points instead of let's say: 2100 Shield Points 1400 Absorb Points It's not a big deal in SM OPs, but I've run into quite a few in HM OPs where I AND the other healer get tired of focusing 80-100% heals on him, an little or no heals for rest of the raid. So I end up asking them, "How are you using your Absorb if your Shield is not triggering for a lack of Shield points?" And when they argue, I then point out: "You can boost Shield rating by a few % in rotation, but it's Absorb rating you can boost by 30% via rotation. Please reconsider..." =8-|
  20. Did you even read the test conditions? Have you even read the thread? =8-|
  21. Notice how if you do any guild management, "remove from guild" is just one click away... ...or self management for that matter quitting a guild is also just one step away. Gotta love the trolls: "How do I quit my guild".
  22. All I'm doing with my wasted Alacrity Points is I'm using it to make certain the GCD intervats that are occurring below my targeted TIER get firmed upward into the TIER I am targeting from MY CLIENT PERSPECTIVE. In other words if I consistently get for a 1.4 GCD test: 1.3819 1.4010 1.3987 1.3812 1.3930 1.4011 1.4012 1.3998 1.4202 1.4390 1.4100 1.3923 1.3844 1.3769 1.4041 Adding 1-2 Extra 228 augments has consistently done the following for me: 1.3844 1.3905 1.3834 1.3911 1.4033 1.4001 1.4039 1.4001 1.3888 1.3965 1.3802 In other words, whether it be some UNDISCLOSED RNG, network delay, log writing delay, Server <> Ciient delay - you name it, what I do firms up the results during slowdown periods that would have otherwise resulted in lower GCD intervals from MY CLIENT PERSPECTIVE. At 1.3 GCD, this effort is much more costly - 200+ points on my Operative Healers BUT 500+ points on my Mercenary Healer and Sorcerer - beyond that suggest by the 6.0 Theory Crafting Charts. As I state very clearly in my main page and show very clearly in my chart document opening paragraphs - THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN!!! Either you are committed to a TIER or you are not. So knock it off with your Strawman attempts on that as well.... Now having said the above... The 300 point difference in what it take to get a CLEAN 1.3 GCD from my client perspective on my Mercenary Healer and Sorcerer Healer versus my Operative Healer suggest that there is some hard coded differential treatment of those three healing specs when working in 1.3 GCD territory. Chew on that for awhile. Go do your own test...watch how the Mercenary Healer and Sorcerer Healer respond to additive augments VERSUS an Operative Healer after they have been set at the threshold noted in the Theory Crafting Charts. Note rather interestingly that after the first bug patch, they took away the +2% Alacrity Rating boost in the Sorc Healer set - never mind it wasn't working anyway. Note also that the +2 Alacrity Rating boost on the two sets available to Merc DPS or Healer don't work as stated either - nor do they stack. Working as intended? =8-|
