  1. OP reads like:
"I can't say people like playing against farm premades because nobody's that stupid so here's a thing that happened so the discussion isn't about how people don't like playing against farm premades! Anyway, back to farming you with my farm premade friends!"

    1 hour ago, Lord_Ranon said:

Hell, if we ran an 8 stack, and farmed, we'd beat the living bejesus out of these players, because honestly, 99% of them in a 2-3 stack or less are pretty hopeless. But what a pathetic way to play the game - I refuse to do it, and I'm sure the DEVS don't want the game to be these 8 stack farming guilds.

Do it. Kill the queue like this. They won't fix it if they don't see it as broken, so break it. Say what day you started doing this so whatever metrics reader is trying to quantify results knows where to measure, and chronicle what happens in a new thread.

  2. Having a premade-only queue that takes oddly-sized premades, especially for 8s, will require the game to show the size of other premade groups in the queue, or have the game pick players out the biggest premade to swap to the other team if there's a match that could be made if the teams were just that different..

On the subject of their silence on the topic, I think they know what kind of players they're dealing with and don't want to compromise any staff member's personal safety. The kind of player that runs in premades just to wreck someone's day is also the kind of player who'll throw a threatening RL hissy fit at one or more devss because their broken OP toy got nerfed. They're bullies, and some of them will try to bully the devs into giving them their unfair advantage back if they even think it's going away. They devs are in the unenviable position of being the only one who really can take the bullies' favorite stick away and knowing how the bullies will react.

  3. Bull elephants aren't exactly capable of running astroturf campaigns and saturating the conversation with blatantly nonsensical drivel. Premade gank farms are, and do.

Premade farms are a handful organized and dominant groups with a common interest in keeping the thing that makes them dominant, so they're doing the only thing they can: they're culture warring. They know the only people who like gank premades are people in gank premades and everyone would refuse to play against them really fast if the option existed, so they whine and cry about how it's absolutely essential to the game that the game lines everyone up for them to farm and it would be really bad for the game if they didn't have their food.

First time flying strikers with turns or retro?

This works against players who don't know or care what's going on. Once they figure out they need to fly out of your maneuver or pop cooldowns, they stop dying to it.

Guess, you can fly through tight spots on good speed, so people chasing you will likely hit an obstacle, because they are also trying to hit you?

This works against players who don't know better or care to learn. Once they figure out that they can't chase and shoot around rocks recklessly, they learn how to play around it.

  5. If you've got two or three reds trying to kill you long enough to get a not-contributing flag, those two or three reds are not doing anything at all to the rest of your team. If the enemy team is rolling for hits or trying to lock missiles on you and you aren't just dying, you shouldn't get a flag, because you're catching aggro and not dying.

Or: you're tanking. In an MMO. The horror!

  6. Just going to point out that in this thread, as far as skilled long time players go the ratio of ones happy to help, teach or group with a new player vs. ostensibly out to get them is 7:1 in the noob's favor. I say ostensibly for the one, because a lot of the players who as a matter of principle fly at 100% of their skill level no matter how bad they're stomping the other team are at the same time happy to group with noobs from that team, get into Discord with them, and help them out in the next match.

Skilled help is available and free, but you do have to ask for it.

Social anxiety has entered the chat

I'm past the point where I will nerf myself to make it easier for people now. I had the hardest possible baptism of fire in this game. When I was a total green newbie, Neutrinos was regularly queuing, at the peak of his skill, and he owned the server daily. On the occasions he wasn't around, Kal Hondo was owning it. In the evenings there was a regular premade of reasonably skilled veterans. If learned to play through all of that, so can anyone else. But, as you say, I am more than happy to help people learn.

I learned that way and got gud, everyone else should too.

I'm going to also point out that hazing tends to run people off because reasonable people tend to see the lack of a point, but the people that get through it tend to be rabidly fanatical.

  7. "What's next" should include "reworking the dailies and weeklies to not require wins."

The system should work like this:

You get credit for completing the match.

You should get credit for getting a certain number of medals. This will vary by class and match type because of self-heals and off-taunts in the various skill and utility trees (ex. self-healing sniper roll), and even set bonuses.

You should get credit for winning the match, which almost certainly means you got all the medals.

For bonus points, if the matchmaker thinks it can't make a fair match without breaking up a premade, it should break up the premade.

  8. I'm 80% sure it's a pretty rare bug because I had something happen to me once a long time ago where, if I picked up the ball, our team instantly scored. I want to say it was 3-ish years.

If someone figures out how to cause the bug to happen on purpose, Huttball matches are going to be incredibly broken.

  9. In GSF, if you try to ram opposing players...not lock on with missiles or shoot, but literally just RAM them...does that show up on their warning systems in game?

That's what I think about when I see people talk about kamikaze runs.

That would be an absolute bear for the pace of starfighter combat at for anything above LAN latency. If everything in the game is extremely local, you don't get the "Wait, what just happened?" problem that this mechanic crossed with 200+ms ping would mean.

Not necessarily. My wife is really bad at GSF. She never gets kills and is lucky to do any damage. Half the time her aim percentage is between 0-1%.

She really does try her hardest and often flies into things when she panics. GSF is a game mode she should never have to play because she doesn’t have the skill set (and I doubt she ever will). She’s never played a FPS, which is basically what GSF is.

It seems the more she plays it, the worse she’s getting too, which is just upsetting her cause I’ve gone through all the targeting and stuff with her too.

Maybe if there was a proper free flight tutorial that showed her how every part of GSF worked and had a pve practice to go with it, she might get better over time. The current tutorial is really bad.

The closest thing we've got to an extensive hands-on tutorial for GSF is probably a copy of Freelancer because the core gameplay is free flight/gimballed weapons with resource management.

  10. The biggest issue with premade’s is when there are an uneven number of them in the queue and population is low at that time. Then you can see a premade vs full pug every match.

This has become even worse in the new lowbie bracket since they merged them. Bioware’s reasoning was to put more people together, but that’s not what’s happening, less people are actually playing lowbies than before (at the times I play).

The other night I played for 4 hours across multiple Alts and there was only one premade in the queue for that 4 hours and they were all above lvl 70. Have you ever tried to play arena against a premade vs pug and expected to carry the team because your the only other good player in the queue? So you get matched against the premade everytime? Then Amplify that when your whole team is sub lvl 40 and the other team is all above lvl 70.

It’s exhausting and draining on your mental abilities to not snap at your own team. But it’s not their fault because it’s lowbies and they are learning. It’s also not ranked, so expectations are low to start with. And the premade is still there farming these people. It’s sad and trollish behaviour when it gets to that lvl,

The few 8 vs 8 matches I got were against this premade too. Every single one. What’s sad is these guys were good and were obviously ranked ability players trolling. It’s these sorts of premades that give every premades a bad name. It’s also this sort of system that allows premades vs pugs that creates toxicity and rage in matches,

I saw so much toxicity towards the premade team that I started to defend their right to premade, but I also privately pointed out to them that lowbies isn’t the place for players like them to be premading and trolling new players. They didn’t seem to care and called me bad. At which point I logged off for the night (as Im sure many others did too).

Premades can have a place, but they can also ruin the majority of peoples fun in the queue if there aren’t other premades for them to play.

They don't have the right to premade, though. This may in fact break ToS:

Interfere with or disrupt another player's use of an EA Service. This includes disrupting the normal flow of game play, chat or dialogue within an EA Service by, for example, using vulgar or harassing language, being abusive, excessive shouting (all caps), spamming, flooding or hitting the return key repeatedly.

If they can't run groups in lowbies without thoroughly ruining the experience for everyone else, they need to not run groups in lowbies at all. If they continue to make the game a worse place just for the sake of knowing they ruined someone's day, well... that's why there's the banhammer.

I personally think it's good that they're teaching the lowbies what PvP is all about and where it always goes, but I guess I'm just jaded and cynical.

  11. Nope, selling….. wait for it…… CRAFTED dyes

The only trick is not selling things super cheap when you can sell them higher. If more people stopped trying to undercut everyone to be the cheapest, more players would have credits with less work.

People who say credits are hard to make through crafting are doing it wrong😉

There exist professions in the game, but tell a bunch of people about one that made you a lot of credits, and you'll figure out why trade guilds are a thing IRL pretty fast. That, or you'll continue to make some money because you've got the schems that cost 50 bounty contracts and most of the people reading don't.

Simply put, if you don't play ALL contents, you're screwed.

Or "you can choose to ignore GS"

How inclusive and "fun" this new system is.

Back to the topic, I wish there is some sort of teaching mode for the arenas because I had no idea what I should do since the GS began until now.

Once I killed 49 people but our team still lost because I guess no one in my team knew we're supposed to click things lol

They knew, they just didn't care.

  12. People weren't staying in matches to get their faces stepped on, how do we keep them in matches to get their faces stepped on and how do we keep them from going afk in a corner?

    You don't.

You don't ask this question unless you acknowledge that you want people to stay and get their faces stepped on so you can...?

In a vacuum, if they don't want to play with you, they won't. If Bioware is using psychologically manipulative tactics (FOMO in seasons) to try to make them play with you, which Bioware is, they'll find ways to deal with the situation that you won't approve of.

  13. This is a late April fools joke, right? OR did they forget the part in the notes that says “all players will now be granted lvl 74 abilities and utilities when entering entry lvl pvp”.

They can’t honestly believe that lvl 10s can compete in any way with lvl 74s or that this will be a fun experience for anyone. Please tell me they over looked something in the notes (like they obviously already did by referring to the bracket as 1-74 and not 10-74).

Also where are the changes to the entry lvl mission to not require winning to get your first left side equipment. Surely they don’t expect lvl 10s with missing gear to win against lvl 74s that are probably fully geared with Ossus set bonus gear.

Lastly, no update on the win requirement for regs or back filling games that are a certain loss. I didn’t expect any changes to the lock out, but if they are going out of their way to merge the lowbie and mid brackets, I would have expect some more changes to make it fairer. Instead we get another abortive change that is the last nail for lowbie pvp.

I do hope they missed a chunk of notes. If not, this is possibly the dumbest **** BioWare have ever done to pvp in this game and the people making these choices should be demoted.

They better have also been granted the extra minute or so to untangle the confused mess that BW's granting of skills throws down.
